Protect Everyone's Right To Vote

Stop Voter Caging!

Barack Obama and I are committed to changing the political process by building a campaign founded on a broad base of support from ordinary Americans. This campaign is about putting the people's interests ahead of the special interests, but to do that, Barack needs help from people like you and me.

My reason for starting this page is to support Barack Obama's effort to stop voter suppression by corrupt election and campaign officials.

In the last two elections the US has witnessed reprehensible Republican attacks on Democrats' right to vote, the most pernicious being "Voter Caging."

In this ploy, a piece of “election material” is mailed to particular registered voters' residences; usually likely Democratic voters like African Americans and Hispanics.  Often these mailings are sent with incomplete addresses, and are returned to the sender as "Undeliverable."  The corrupt official uses this as "evidence of voter fraud" and has the voters' registrations purged from the record!  Come election day the citizens discover that they can’t vote.

This practice has been challenged in courts, the US Attorney General's office says it's illegal, but correcting it after the fact – after the election, that is -  requires politicians and appointees to pursue the legal challenge. They won't, because they are Republican.

On September 16th of this year, the Obama campaign and the DNC launched a pre-emptive strike against these criminals by filing suit in Michigan to prevent voter caging efforts aimed at residents of foreclosed homes!  That’s right; people who have been displaced because of the housing crisis created by Bush-McCain over the last eight years! In Michigan, over 11,000 homes have been foreclosed upon in July alone.

This page is to help reward the Obama campaign specifically for their actions to protect the right to vote for all Americans.  They need the funds to continue this fight in other states such as Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, - anywhere.

I made a donation to get this started.  If you have anything to give - $5, $10, $50 - then you can help me say, "Thank you!" to Barack Obama for taking on this necessary and vital cause.

Thank you for your support.
