Join Generation Obama
Generation Obama (GO) is a national program with a locally based structure. GO chapters form when young people get together in a community and take the initiative to get involved. GO chapters work with other Obama grassroots organizations and the national campaign on a coordinated strategy to propel Senator Obama to victory in the first four primary elections, February 5 states, and across the nation. As a GO member or organizer, here's what you can do:
Recruit volunteers
- Get a few friends together and use your social networks. Bring in new people and use theirs. Keep building and growing.
- Contact Greek organizations, neighborhood listservs, free classified ads
- Contact local bands and ask them to message their fans
- Put flyers up at health clubs, music stores, etc
- At each event, you should have at least one GO group member signing up new volunteers -- don't miss anyone!
- Create an internal GO voter/volunteer list on a spreadsheet
- Plan fun, interactive and engaging activities to bring people together (and build your volunteer base). Make it social -- at a bar, bowling alley, bbq, whatever.
- Coordinate with local Obama campaign infrastructure to volunteer in key early states
- Raise money at these events, even if its as little as $5 per person
- Contact local environmental and social service organizations and organize community service days
