Help Obama win!! |

Our Next President, If You Act Now! I support Barack Obama because he is the only chance America has to shed the past and enter into a new era both at home and abroad. Simply put, we should choose him over Hillary Clinton because: 1) Hillary voted to for the war in Iraq, without even bothering to read the intelligence reports, instead choosing to give Bush “the benefit of the doubt”, even though many in Congress and millions all across the country and the world knew better and fought against Bush from the beginning. Barack Obama was fighting with us against this war from the very beginning. He has the kind of judgment we need in a president. 2) Hillary absolutely has NO chance at winning an election against John McCain. I could go on forever about this, but the short version is that Hillary is an incredibly polarizing figure, half of Americans view her unfavorably and will never vote for her (every poll on the subject backs this up) which is needless to say not a strong starting position to be in, she voted for the war and supported it until it wasn’t popular anymore so we can’t use that against the Republicans, she doesn’t appeal to Independents and only energizes Republicans against her (as opposed to Obama who has amazing crossover appeal to both Independents and moderate Republicans), while McCain has great appeal to Independents and moderate Democrats, and her only argument as to why she should be president is her “experience”, which in comparison to McCain’s, is non-existent. Every poll shows Obama much stronger against McCain, and nearly every poll shows Hillary losing to McCain badly. A recrent poll had McCain at 51% to Hillary's 39%, this is not who we want representing us in the general election! 3) Hillary and Bill will do and say anything to get elected. They have shown that nothing is more important than winning, and that isn’t the kind of leadership the Democratic party needs. They have used flat out lies, distortions, attempted voter disenfranchisement, race-baiting, and fearmongering (among other things) to try, unsuccessfully, to get ahead. We are better than that, and if we can’t win an election fairly, we don’t deserve to win it at all. And we CAN win elections on our merits without resorting to deception and fear. 4) Hillary’s support of the war is demonstrative of her broader view of foreign policy, which is hawkish and opposed to cooperation, despite her campaign rhetoric. Her foreign policy statements and record have been more in line with Republicans than the Democratic party, and she has opposed the UN, especially the International Criminal Court, while at the same time fighting against efforts to stop the use of landmines and clusterbombs, which kill and maim civilians for years and years after fighting stops. Yet she overlooks humanitarian concerns and instead supports military aid to oppressive regimes and giving lots money to military contractors. She has even went so far as to say she won’t rule out the preemptive use of nuclear weapons against our enemies! If we want to show the world we have changed, our biggest changes should come in foreign policy, and this can’t come from someone like Hillary, who receives more money from arms manufacturers than any candidate in either party. 5) Hillary has received more money from corporations and lobbyists than any candidate, of either party. Her campaign is filled with lobbyists, and she says that there is nothing wrong with so many lobbyist connections. While Hillary has gotten comfy with Washington establishment lobbyists and money, Obama has led the effort for Congressional ethics reform, and managed to pass the largest ethics reform bill in decades. 6) Don't buy into Hillary's rhetoric about "experience" and being an "agent of change", because neither are true. Her resume contains more fluff than a pillow. Obama actually has more experience as an elected official than Hillary does. Also, the main things she points to as her accomplishments include a horribly failed health care reform attempt in the 90s, and a few other things she was involved with as First Lady. When you look at the records, Obama has a much more impressive career as an agent for change. He was working on the streets for change when Hillary was working for one of the biggest corporate law firms in the country, and while she served on the Board of Wal-Mart (although her fluffed resume glosses over those unsightly details). These are just a few of the major reasons we need Obama to win this nomination and be our candidate in the general election and our next president. I could go on forever (trust me), but I’ll leave it at that. If you believe that Barack is the real candidate for change please help him defeat the corporate-controlled Washington establishment. You can donate to his campaign from this page, and help show that grassroots support is stronger than lobbyist cash. I also encourage you to help him in other ways. Anyway, thank you if you decide to donate to Barack's campaign, or, if you don't wish to at this time, please take the time to visit his website and learn how he is different from typical politicians. |
