Pirates for Obama |

Pirate Party of the United States Barack Obama and the Pirate Party of the United States are committed to changing the political process by building a campaign built on a broad base of support from ordinary Americans. Many of these "ordinary Americans" are fed up with the powerful preying on the less-powerful, and we have a long and proud tradition to support this. In the late 1700's, we were continually losing ships in the Mediterranean to terrorists who claimed it was their holy right, given to them by the Prophet Mohammad. And in 1799, we'd had enough. In 1800, knowing who they were, we retaliated. In 1801, the enemies of the newly-established United States of America declared that our fledgling nation was nothing more than a bunch of pirates bent on world domination and the ruin of nations. The Barbary Pirates are what our history books call them. And in 1816, we defeated them utterly, razing their port cities. But the declaration itself was never repealed. Because we did the right thing in defending ourselves from attack, we were declared to be a nation filled with outlaws. Our marines were said to be little more than hired mercenaries whose sole aim was to create strife and war where none existed before (never mind the fact that attacking our vessels is in itself an act of war). As a matter of national pride, our political party, the Pirate Party of the United States, stands on this tradition of doing the right thing in spite of its lack of popular standing. We will do it solely for the purpose that it's right. And for this reason, we can stand behind Barack Obama. Obama seeks to create a more perfect union, one in which the government can earn the trust of the people for the right reasons. And for this reason, we are seeking to raise money to get Barack Obama to take an oath in January of 2009. These funds are not a contribution. They are not PAC money. They are donations from ordinary people directly to the campaign. |
