Mr. Dan Kelly's Horrorshow Marathon |

First, the boilerplate from the Obama Campaign. Barack Obama and I are committed to changing the political process by building a campaign founded on a broad base of support from ordinary Americans. This campaign is about putting the people's interests ahead of the special interests, but to do that, Barack needs help from people like you and me. I've set my own personal fundraising goal for the campaign, which you can see in the thermometer to the right. Will you click the thermometer to make a donation and help me reach my goal?
Now, here's the deal I think many of us can agree that the last eight years of the Bush administration have been a real horrorshow. September 11, Hurricane Katrina, the ongoing Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, rising debt, the use of the justice department for political ends, and lies, lies, lies. It's scary stuff, and John McCain has said little to make me think he plans to switch from the course set by the current administration. It's my opinion that the election of Barack Obama will signal a change (there's that word again) for the better in this country. So, here's the skewed analogy by which I intend to raise, with hope (hey, that's another familiar word), $1,500 for the campaign. On October 18, starting at 12 noon, I will commence watching 24 hours of some of the finest, and one or two of the worst, horror films ever made (the approaching Halloween holiday made it seem appropriate). That analogy I mentioned? How's this: Nothing I'll watch will be as horrifying as what this country has experienced since George W. Bush was elected. With the exception of bathroom breaks, getting up to pay the pizza dude, and, let's be reasonable, some time to look after my son Nate so Mommy doesn't go whacko, I won't shift my butt from the couch until October 19, at 12 noon (or whenever the last film ends). Please sponsor me by the hour and send the amount to the Obama campaign via this fundraising gadget (that way those of you who don't know me from Adam will know it's going to the right place). Next year I might do this again, probably for Doctors Without Borders or some similar worthy cause. Right now I can't think of a worthier cause than setting this country back on the right path.
