Old-Time Music Fans for Obama!

I generally keep my (strong) political opinions off this site, but there are times when I can't help myself. Like during the run-up to the Iraq War, when I had a banner up urging people to pay attention to the facts about the situation in Iraq and the lies that were being told. I urged people to inform themselves, be skeptical about the "conventional wisdom" coming out of Washington, and to urge their leaders to avoid war while letting the weapons inspectors do their job.

Well, I sure took a lot of heat from a lot of listeners over that banner, but I think most would now agree that going to war was not just illegal and immoral (hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis now dead and you and I paid for it -- actually that's not right: the money was borrowed and our children and grandchildren will pay for it -- but unlike Iraq under Saddam the USA is a democracy and when our leaders kill innocents with our approval, they do so on our behalf: we all now have blood on our hands). Anyway, it's now clear to all that launching this war was not just illegal and immoral, it was a really stupid thing for the US to have done.

One presidential candidate knew this and had the courage to speak the truth back in 2002-2003. That man is Barack Obama, and in support of his candidacy I must now raise my voice again.
