Ryan (son) and Anthony Thomalla (dad) Barack Obama, Ryan, and I are committed to changing the political process by creating a campaign built on a broad base of support from ordinary Americans. Ryan and I have set our own personal fundraising goal for the campaign, which you can see in the thermometer to the right. Will you make a donation to help us reach our goal? More Information...
In the early 1990's I had no problem with Desert Shield. I had no real problem with Desert Storm. I was horrified by 911 as were most Americans. When we went to war in Afghanistan I felt that it was justified and I had no problem with the decision. Then Mr. Bush turned his eyes to Iraq and I could not believe how easily he used the backlash of 911 to manipulate the American Public into supporting an unjust war. It appeared to me that the decision to go to war against Iraq was made prior to 911. I was amazed that there were Federal contracts with Halliburton, Vice President Cheney's former company where he served as CEO, before the first troops even landed and no one seemed to even question it. In the name of homeland security we were told there was a link to Al-Qaeda. We were told there were weapons of mass destruction. We were told the United States would get in and get the job done and quickly get out. We were told the war would cost very little due to the President's innovative strategies. Now, billions of dollars and thousands of American lives later we know the truth.
Now, I have never met George Bush. He may be a hell of a nice guy. A good neighbor. A good friend. However, what I do know is this: If the last seven years have taught us nothing else… even if Mr. Bush did not intentionally lie to you and to me about the war in Iraq… at the very least the President is incompetent to lead this nation and needs to be removed along with everything he stands for.
Back in 2003 I felt helpless shouting into the wind about the horrible decision for us to go to war. I felt absolutely no one was listening. Then slowly a voice began to emerge amongst the chaos that was the Iraq War. It was the voice of reason. It was the voice of virtue. It was the voice of Barack Obama...and I will follow that voice so long as his heart remains true and his resolve sincere. I support Barack Obama for the Presidency of The United States of America in 2008. I hope you will join me. |
