No doubt, the Iraq War, the economy, healthcare, and education are top issues in this campaign, and deservedly so.

Yet there is one issue that trumps all of these issues. If we don't start to recognize the looming threat posed by global warming, if we don't act now, we invite the unthinkable.

Sea level rise, water shortages, extreme weather, prolonged droughts, catastrophic floods, expansion of tropical pests and diseases, crop failures, species extinctions, ocean acidification, and a host of other consequences will begin to bear down on us in the next 20-30 years. 

Global warming threatens national security, global economies, and our health and well-being in ways that we are only just beginning to imagine.

Barack Obama's plan to stem carbon emissions and reverse human impacts on our life support system--Planet Earth--is the most sensible and comprehensive solution being offered. And if anyone can make it happen, Barack can.
