75 years: One Day at a Time
In this, my 75th year, I am asking my friends to join me in putting feet to the dream that our Nation can learn to work TOGETHER to overcome the walls that separate us. Participation is the KEY to harmony.
Barack Obama and I are committed to changing the political process by building a campaign founded on a broad base of support from ordinary Americans. If you haven't done so, please visit the Obama website [my.barackobama.com].
I've set my own personal fundraising goal for the campaign, which you can see in the thermometer to the right. Rather than cards or gifts, I want to see a change in direction in government. I observe Senator Obama has the smarts and leadership ability to restore integrety and hope.

WHY I support Senator Obama with deeper and deeper enthusiasm.
1. His basic goodness and commitment to changing the way politics is practiced becomes more and more evident every day. He is honest, admits mistakes, and keeps focused on the real problems facing our nation and the world we all live in.
2. His brilliance in being able to see both the forest and the trees. Watching him identify problems, identify hurdles and seek solutions that step by step can effect progress (if not perfection) is a true gift - one I believe we need in the White House NOW.
3. His stability over the past 18 months as he has stayed true to his core vaules and honed his abilities on the campaign to keep on keeping on toward the goal of providing the real leadership needed at the national level.
4. His family values. The proof really is in the pudding. Observing interactions between Senator Obama and his wife, with his children, and even with those he encounters, speaks volumes. It does not appear to be contrived but does seems real, honest and coming from the heart. I think this is an important plus as a role model for our nation.
5. His supporters. From Lee Hamilton, to San Nunn, to Carolyn Kennedy, to Julie Eisenhower, and too many to name. All of them smart wise leaders of our nation who see what I see: A REAL uniter and not a divider, even when the kitchen sink is being thrown. And, his ability to enlist youth in the campaign. Their enthusiasm has pushed me to donate even when I really am cutting it close on my retirement income, to go to links to get information and often offer a reasoned opinion myself.
6. His life experience which crosses geographic, cultural and racial lines. Obviously Senator Obama is well educated and applies that foundation in all that he does. He is also open minded, listens, is focused despite distractions, and then makes decisions based on what is best for our country and not just to score political points.
7. His faith. Not in Jeremiah Wright, but in the Love of God as demonstrated by Jesus and also in others of God's children who have spiritual depth and vision of other faith paths. In my opinion the Audacity of Hope also embodies the hope that the world may move toward healing and grace for all of God's kids. That takes wisdom. I believe Senator Obama is wise beyond his years.
8. My family has been affected by the family disease of addiction. The Serenity Prayer has gotten me through many difficult moments in time. "GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE. THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN. AND, THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE." While Senator Obama. and his family, may not know this prayer, he lives out from it. WOW!
9. His comprehensive campaign. Including policy positions, grass roots involvement and the internet, as well as the ability to manage the funds at his disposable in a very effective way.
10. His representation of the best of the new generation. It is comforting to this grey haired woman to turn it over to the freshness and enthusiasm of youth and vigor.
11. His selection of Joe Biden as VP which IMO shows sound judgement and a real partner in governing.
