Several weeks ago, I told you why I was excited about Barack Obama. 

I've decided that Obama offers the best hope for an American Renaissance - the desperately-needed rebirth and recovery of our great nation.

As Americans, we dream of a President who is honest, personable, intelligent, and wise. The last seven years have been nothing short of a disaster. This country is in a pinch, and I believe we need a renaissance in leadership to turn things around, rebuild our global reputation, and position us to prosper in this still-new century.

Our nation faces huge challenges. We need a leader with courage and integrity who has known the struggles of an everyday American.

A lot of people have stopped believing that is even possible. I admit that I’ve had my darker moments where I, too, wondered if it was. But I have decided to support Barack Obama because he offers the best hope for the renaissance I'm talking about.

Campaigning on a national scale takes serious cash. I recently put my money where my mouth is and made significant contributions to the Obama campaign. Now, with this new fundraising campaign, I'm asking you all to join me and do the same. I've set a preliminary fundraising goal, and you can check the progress on the right.

This campaign for the presidency is unparalleled in history. Our need for an honest, fresh-thinking leader could not be more urgent. Americans are hungry for change and Barack Obama will bring that change when he is elected.

The Democratic primaries and caucuses are underway, so we need to act today. Many of you have taken a wait-and-see position; please do not wait any longer.
