50 State Kick Off Olympia WA (Voter Registration Drive (Official Event))
5-8-08 New Information: We will be targeting 6 neighborhoods in Lacey that have no information. If you are going to Lacey please show up about 9 AM. If you like, you can pick up some forms and go walk in your own neighborhood. This is also Wooden Boat Weekend. A a few people could just take a clipboard and go walk through the crowd.
The weather looks good. RSVP or just show up.
Now is the time to really show the Super Delegates who they can count on to elect Democrats down the line.
Thurston County for Obama campaign in conjunction with the Democratic Party will be kicking off our Voter Registration drive at the Olympia Farmer's market Saturday May 10. This is our part 50 state event that will be happening all over the nation and is part of the Obama national campaigns efforts to show everyone just what grass roots politics is capable of.
There will be a meet-up in the Market Parking lot beginning at 9 AM to pick up walking packets. Volunteers will fan out and canvas their neighborhoods during the day then drop off completed forms back at the market.
This will be a fun, no pressure event. We can wear our gear but we are out to register voters of any persuasion. Don't worry there are more Dems than Republicans so it will work out.
If you haven't canvassed we'll try to hook you up with someone who has if you like.
We'll have a table there from 10 AM to 3 PM come on out and say Hi even if you aren't walking. We'll have campaign gear available and hope to sign up a bunch of new voters right there at the market.
Hints:
1. If you have a teen who will turn 18 by Nov 4 come on down and sign them up. Bring the camera. Make it a family event.
2. You can pick up registration forms for any disabled person who might have trouble getting out to register.
3. Be sure your college student is registered to receive a mail in ballot at school this fall.
4. If you have moved since you last voted you have to re-register. No time like May 10th. Be sure your vote counts register early.
5. Call the Elections Office before the primary to make sure there are no screw ups; that you are registered to vote and that your ballot will be sent to the right place if you vote by mail. This may be the election of the century and you want to be part of it.
Get off the couch and join the fun. The Super Delegates will are sure to be watching. They don't just want to know that Barack can get elected. They want our help getting them elected in the process.
RSVP or e-mail info@tcforobama.com to volunteer. Bring your kids and make a civics lesson out of it.
