Tomatoes for Obama (Organizing)
Start a victory garden to save our nation!
Americans are spending more to pay for groceries and gasoline everyday. But it doesn't have to be like this. I give you a solution, a Victory Garden. Your grandparents might remember the concept or maybe your parents. The Victory Garden movement united Americans in a time of need. Well, I think you might agree, we are headed for a rather grim time of need now. Don't wait for a politician to tell you they will take care of you. Take care of yourself! In the words of a great woman, Rosie-the-Riveter "We Can Do It!" This weekend is the last frost in my area and I plan to plant my own victory garden. I invite you to join me. Say "No" to paying $1.89/lb for a thick skinned, no-taste (probably imported) tomato this year. Share some plants with a neighbor that is having trouble paying the grocery bill this month. This fall when your garden is ripe you can go back to that neighbor to exchange some squash or tomatoes and talk about life, perhaps the election, and how a few plants brought you together and saved you from the high prices at the grocery store. The call went out once before and I cry it out again "DIG FOR VICTORY!" United we will plant the seeds of change and save our nation. Print out some of the old posters that helped through the war, go buy a couple seedlings and start your garden this weekend!
