Crusade to End Infant Mortality (National Health Care Day of Service)
Join us for The National Health Care Reform Day of Service focused on ending infant mortality in Shelby County. Infant mortality is the death of a baby before his or her first birthday. Memphis has the highest infant mortality rate among the nation's 60 largest cities. Our local rate is twice the rate of the national average. Because we believe every baby deserves an opportunity to make it to their first birthday and beyond, we are going to do something about this alarming issue.
We will knock on doors and go to local businesses to build awareness about ways to decrease infant mortality, pre-natal health care options as well as local programs focused on increasing infant health.
There will be giveaways and lunch will be provided for volunteers who go out and spread the word.
