Postcards for Obama (Meeting)
Women from all over the USA are writing postcards to voters in Pennsylvania, sharing the reasons we support Barack Obama. Let's help!
Please come for any amount of time (you don't have to come for the full time!) Bring a pen! I will have postcards plus stamps. We'll write, get acquainted, and share ideas for more ways to help in Pennsylvania. I will provide light snacks.
This national effort is being coordinated by Ohio Women for Obama. See details below for this event, which I copied from another group's posting.
The conference room seats eight, so if we have more than that, we can overflow into the main library. The conference room is reserved under the name "Tully's Postcards."
Below you will find all the information you might want, especially if you're inspired to do some postcards yourself! If you want to participate in this group gathering, I will be sending the postcards in a packet and you don't have to do the stamping or shipping.
--------------------
This Post Card Campaign is simple and will add a personal touch to Obama's message - this is a voter to voter - woman to woman effort that will be focused on undecideds. We want them to know, that there are other women across this nation who believe in Obama's message of unity and hope and that it is okay for women to vote for him! Currently we have women from New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Florida, and Ohio who are committed to this campaign. Please let me know if this sounds like something you would be willing to do. Below highlights the scope of this campaign.
Pass It On: Write Postcards for Barack
Pass on the Hope...
You are invited to join women volunteers across the US in writing postcards to women in Pennsylvania that asks for their vote for Barack Obama. The goal is to write at least 100,000 postcards by April 7th - together we can achieve this goal!
If you want to participate or if your want to help coordinate postcard writing in your area, send us an e-mail at talisa_sheppard@myway.com or you may call us toll free at 800-557-6196
Here is how to participate in 3 easy steps:
STEP ONE: Individually or with other women in your community, purchase 10 or more postcards for each of you to write along with post card stamps. If possible, purchase postcards that represent your city or state.
STEP TWO: If writing postcards in a group, have a Postcard Party to get them all written and posted at the same time. Each postcard message should be brief and to the point - no more than 2-4 sentences. The following provides sample language:
Dear Fellow Voter,
I voted (or I am voting) for Barack Obama for President because he is the best candidate to bring our country together to solve the problems we are facing. This is the type of leadership we need right now. I hope that you will vote for Barack too.
Sincerely, (Sign Your Name, City and State)
STEP THREE: Put stamps on each card, leave the return address and mailing address areas on each card blank (the cards will be addressed by volunteers), and mail all of your postcards together in an envelope(s) or box to:
