Sewing Quilts for Survivors of Domestic Violence/Raise Awareness (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service)
For the fourth Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in a row, Brooklyn for Barack will be partnering with Sue Rock Originals Everyone to help sew quilts for women and children leaving situations of domestic violence. Opportunities for non-sewers include folding, cutting and ironing; flyering about the organization's work in locations around Brooklyn; and capturing the event in photography/video.

Directions: Studio is between Rogers and Nostrand. By subway: * A or C trains to Nostrand Avenue - walk up 5 blocks to Bergen street, make a right turn on Bergen Street. * Take the Q train to Prospect Park. Take the Shuttle train to Park Place. Use the right exit and walk out of the train station. Make a right turn and walk two blocks to Rogers Avenue. Make a left turn and walk three blocks (in the direction of traffic) to Bergen St. Turn right on Bergen. * LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD - Nostrand Avenue Stop. Come out of the train and walk straight up Nostrand Avenue 2 blocks to Bergen Street. Make a right turn. Bus: (From Cobble Hill, Park Slope, Prospect Heights) Take the B 65 on Dean Street to Nostrand Avenue. Walk one block (right) on Nostrand Avenue to Bergen Street. Turn right to 1069. (From Bedstuy, Crown Heights East, East NY) Take the B 65 down Bergen Street to Nostrand Avenue - Walk up the block to 1069 Bergen St. (From Williamsburg and Bedstuy) Take the B 44 bus to Bergen Street.
