Art for Change - San Diego (Fundraising)
Please join us on 9/5 & 9/6 at the Art of Framing in Normal Heights for two fantastic opening receptions to celebrate San Diego's Art for Change exhibit! This show will feature national & local artists who have prepared pieces in a variety of mediums to express their passion for Obama's candidacy. All pieces will be offered for sale and many of the local artists will be on hand to discuss their work.

But wait!!! There's more!!! The owner of the Art of Framing is giving the first 500 guests a free Obama bracelet! Local volunteers and delegates for the Obama campaign will be on hand to sell Obama merchandise, share stories from Denver, and register new volunteers for all of the fun & exciting projects that will take place before November!

Cover charge at the door is $10 and includes free food and drink. Matching donations to the Obama campaign can be made below. Best of all--the owner of the gallery is going to donate 50% of the proceeds to the Obama Victory Fund!

Here is the information on the show from the Art of Framing Website (contact the gallery owner directly at 619-563-9770 or blythe@theartofframing.net):

Because we have been inspired by Barack Obama's message of change and unity, we are hosting "Obama '08: Art For Change;" an art show featuring 50 artists from across the United States. As a group that values creative expression and supports free speech and thought, the art community has a unique opportunity to participate in Obama's grassroots campaign by not only supporting a candidate with a strong arts platform, but also by being able to contribute to the Obama Victory Fund (joint project between the DNC & the Obama campaign) from the sale of their artwork.

Here are a few of Obama's positions on Arts and Culture: Reinvest in Arts Education, which would include: Expanding Public/Private Partnerships Between Schools and Arts Organizations, Creating an Artist Corps, and Publicly Championing the Importance of Arts Education; Supporting Increased Funding for the NEA; and Ensuring Tax Fairness for Artists.
