Murphys Community Blood Drive (National Health Care Day of Service)
Your East Calaveras Democratic Club invites you to participate in the National Health Care Service Day on June 24th. Individuals truly can make a difference in their community! The activity we suggest is the Clint Lee Memorial Blood Drive sponsored by Delta Blood Bank. Summer months are a difficult time for blood banks because regular donors go on vacation. This is an awesome chance to work together to meet the needs of our medical community. Hope to see you there!

Phillip “Jeff” Fish is a long term resident of Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties. He spent a short time away, joining the Marines and exploring the Nevada desert. After realizing that home was in the Mother Lode he returned in 1998 with a wife, Bree, and their first son Alex, now 12. At the time they were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their second child, who turned out to be a second son, Nicholas, now 9. Phillip has worked many trades from bar tending in Jamestown, an extra in Back to the Future III, and as a full time college student at Columbia College. Phillip applied to be a Security Officer at Columbia College which reflected his desire to serve country and community. Nine years later he is still there. Phillip and Bree have lived on both sides of the river and touched many with their kindness and endless friendship. Phillip has always been a rock for everyone he calls a friend. On June 7th 2009 with no warning other than a bloody nose and some bruising Phillip was diagnosed with APL Leukemia. He is currently undergoing an aggressive treatment of Chemotherapy and blood and platelet transfusions.
By donating blood or platelets you will be helping not only Phillip but thousands of others afflicted with similar diseases. His family thanks you for all your generosity and support.
