HOPE for Veterans (Community Service)
Veterans Home of CA in Yountville is opening a new section of the dementia/memory loss unit to accomodate soldiers from all conflicts with alzheimers, dementia,and traumatic brain injury with associated memory loss.
The "activity center" in the unit provides the Veterans with projects and important social opportunites which are clinicly proven to delay further brain deterioration and increase cognitive/motor function skills.
Equally important, these activities improve the quality of life for our valued veterans.
The new unit is in need of gently used games, table settings for group celebrations(birthdays,etc), and even video games which they now succesfully incorporate into therapy.
Please coordinate drop off or pick up of the following very needed items (gently used are welcome):
Hand held video games such as poker/pokerino, etc.
Poker Chips
Large numbered bingo games
Table games such as Sorry/Life/Checkers/Connect
Quilts
China and Table cloths
Place settings
Center pieces for tables
Glowing Fiber optic plant arrangements
Animated moving screens (Ocean/mountains, etc.)
Funny cheerful night lites
wii games and related equipment
