The following information was sent out by the group that has been pressuring Barack to filibuster the FISA bill when it comes before the Senate on July 8. They have finally decided to urge members of BarackObama.com to put pressure on all the other 99 senators who need to uphold our constitutional rights by voting NO on FISA as it presently stands on July 9, 2008. Please forward this information to everyone you know in the U.S. and ask them to email and call their Senators (democrat and republican) and tell them that as a constituent you are expecting a NO vote on FISA - please read entire post. We only have a short period of time to effect this change and show our support to Feingold, Leahy, Dodd and Obama - instead of expecting them to solve this on their own. So far, here is what we've achieved: 1. Senator Obama's campaign engaged in a 90-minute discussion about concerns related to FISA. We have a verbal commitment from Senator Obama that he will work to remove Title II from HR 6304, and that he will support amendments by Senators Dodd, Feingold, and Bingaman to remove telecome immunity provisions from the Senate's version of the bill. 2. Our group is now the largest on my.barackobama.com, proving that thousands of Americans are passionate about this issue and want to protect our Constitutional rights. 3. We want results.
