Paint Pottery for Obama, again (Meeting)
Hey now, our 3-16 fun-raiser sent $600 to the Obama campaign. With an increased RSVP limit we hope to send twice that amount this time. Additionally, a large amount of fun was raised and many beautiful mugs etc. were created. Look for the blog entry by Patrick showing photos.

Once more, you’re all invited to my next big fun-raiser at Paint Your Pot in west Cary NC, my paint-it-yourself pottery place. Its fun for the whole family and we hope to send Obama another pile of cash, but please let us know in your RSVP if you’re bringing children less than 5 years old, especially infants and toddlers. We have a special paint and play room. Hand and foot prints are popular with the little ones.
The idea is for everyone to paint a piece of ceramics from 500 choices while we listen to Obama songs and speeches, and get to know other Obama supporters. Painting is a great backdrop for getting-to-know-you conversation. No talent needed!
About 10 days later you may pick up your glazed and fired masterpieces. We have everything you need to paint and will give full instructions.
You may choose to paint a coffee mug and if you want to donate it to the cause I’ll see to it that your mug will go to an Obama staffer or hard-working volunteer as a gift to show your appreciation. A mug would come in handy for those critical late/all-nighters. Then maybe you’re the one who needs the mug!
Painting time varies but one hour is typical. You may bring food and beverages and may use our refrigerator. If you’re legal you may bring beer, wine, or whatever. We can’t serve alcohol but its fine for you to just treat us like a picnic ground. Don't fret, it's never like a bar here. You’ll find whatever refreshments you need in our shopping center.
COST: You’ll pay twice the tag price plus sales tax. This is a little more than our regular pricing but that’s the fundraising part. Please pay with a credit card or check made out to OBAMA FOR AMERICA. Cash will also be accepted. For example, a mug costs $8.75 so you’ll pay $18.68 total. I’m donating all the pottery, paints, glazes, and my time to glaze and fire these items. Your entire payment goes to OBAMA FOR AMERICA. There’ll be a donor card to fill out to properly document your contributions.
I have a 4 hour playlist of Obama speeches, ads, and songs. We can play these as loud as we want. You can make requests, you can even find your favorite video on the web site. I'll play disc jockey!
