Wisconsin Voting Rules
Voter Registration Form:

Deadline to Register:
Election Day, November 4, 2008.
Voter Eligibility:
Must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Wisconsin and be at least 18 years old on or before the next election.
Identification Requirements:
If you are registered to vote, there are no identification requirements in Wisconsin.
If you registered to vote by mail and did not provide proof of residence with your form, you must provide one of the documents listed below (with the exception of a residential lease)
If you are not registered to vote, you will need:
1) A Wisconsin driver’s license if you have one, or (if you do not) the last four digits of your Social Security number; and
2) Proof of residence, including your full name and current address, such as one of the following:
• A Wisconsin driver’s license or state-issued ID card;
• A current residential lease;
• Any utility bill (online cell-phone bill print-outs count!) from the past 90 days;
• A bank statement;
• A paycheck;
• A property tax bill from either 2007 or 2008;
• Any document issued by a unit of government [for students attending a UW school, this includes any letter sent to students by the school].
• Student photo ID (If you live in a university-owned dorm, it doesn't need your address)
No proof of residence? You can still register and vote if you bring an eligible voter from your municipality who shows proof of residence and affirms you live at your address.
Where to Turn in Your Registration:
The office of your local office of your city, town or village clerk.
How to Register Others:
You are permitted to conduct voter registration drives in the state of Wisconsin. You must become a Special Registration Deputy. All voter registration drives must cease by 20 days (October 15) prior to Election Day.
Absentee Voting:
Absentee voting is available. No excuse is required.
Begin the Application Process
Dates: Applications are due 5 days prior to Election Day (October 30) and ballots are due by 5pm the day before the election (November 3).
Early Vote:
Early Vote is available in the form of in person absentee voting. No excuse is required. Early Vote begins October 14th and ends Monday, November 3rd at 5:00 p.m. Early voting is held at the office of your local town, city or village municipal clerk.
