What do I need to register to vote?If you are planning on registering before October 15th, all you will need is an "identification number." What's that? If you have been issued a Wisconsin driver's license or state ID card, you will need to provide your driver's license number or ID number when registering. If you do not have a Wisconsin driver’s license or state ID, you can instead provide the last four digits of your Social Security number. And remember, you don’t need to show your license, ID card or Social Security card to the poll worker, but you do need to provide the number itself to complete the registration form. Again, if you have been issued a Wisconsin driver's license or a state ID you will need to provide the ID number -- you can not substitute the last four digits of your Social Security number for your state issued ID number.

Otherwise, you can satisfy the proof of residence requirement by submitting one of the following documents, provided that it contains your complete name and current Wisconsin address:
Invite your friends to register to vote with you! What if I can't find any proof of residence? If you don't have proof of residence, you are not out of luck! You can still register if you are accompanied to the polls by an eligible Wisconsin voter, called a “corroborator,” who, 1. Shows valid proof of residence (see above list) and 2. Signs an oath affirming that you live at the address listed on your registration form. The corroborator does not have to be registered to vote. The corroborator must have personal knowledge that the individual lives at the address listed on her/his registration form and must live in the same municipality as the individual. A corroborator can be a relative, roommate, co-worker, classmate -- anyone who knows where you live. |
