Oct 3 if you register in person. Oct 5 if you register by mail (postmark deadline).
Poll Hours
The polls are open 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each election day.
Identification Required to Vote
First-time voters in Mississippi who registered by mail must bring a valid photo ID or current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows the voter’s name and address.
Absentee Voting
You must apply for your absentee ballot by November 1st. You are eligible to vote absentee if you will be absent from your county of residence on Election Day or are: (1) A disabled war veteran who is a patient in any hospital; (2) temporarily residing outside of the United States and the District of Columbia; (3) An employee engaged in interstate transportation; (4) A student, teacher or administrator; (5) An employee engaged in offshore employment, or an employee on a vessel or other watercraft; (6) An employee, businessperson, professional, tradesman or worker required to be over 50 miles away from the county of residence on election day due to employment; (7) A person with a temporary or permanent physical disability; (8) 65 years of age or older; or (9) A parent, spouse or dependent of a person with a temporary or permanent disability hospitalized more than 50 miles from home county and will be with that person on Election Day.
Early Voting
Early voting is not available.
Provisional Ballots
Federal law guarantees your right to vote by provisional ballot if there are any challenges to your registration or to your right to cast a regular ballot. Mississippi law ensures that all people who believe they are eligible to vote in a jurisdiction but whose names do not appear on the poll books may vote by provisional ballot.
