Registration Deadline
The registration deadline is October 6th.
Poll Hours
Polling places are open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on Election Day.
Identification Required to Vote
You must provide a current, government-issued photo ID. The ID must be issued by either the State of Indiana or the United States government.
First-time voters who registered by mail to vote also must provide documentation to confirm their residence. Acceptable documents include valid photo ID with current address, current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows name and address.
Absentee Voting
Your application for an absentee ballot must be received by October 27th. An excuse is required to vote absentee by mail in Indiana. In order to vote absentee-by-mail, one of the following must apply: (1) you have a specific, reasonable expectation that you will be absent from the county on Election Day during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open (6 am until 6 pm); (2) you have a disability; (3) you are at least 65 years old; (4) you will have official election duties outside of your voting precinct; (5) you are scheduled to work at your regular place of employment during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open; (6) you will be confined due to illness or injury or you will be caring for an individual confined due to illness or injury during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open; (7) you are prevented from voting because of a religious discipline or religious holiday during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open; or (8) you are a participant in the state's address confidentiality program.
Early Voting
Early voting is available in the form of in-person absentee voting. No excuse is required to vote absentee in person. You may vote in the county election board office beginning 29 days before the election.
Provisional Ballots
Federal law guarantees your right to vote by provisional ballot if there are any challenges to your registration or to your right to cast a regular ballot. A provisional ballot allows you to vote on Election Day. After Election Day, the county election board will decide if you were qualified to vote in that precinct, and if your ballot should be counted.
