Drive for Change FAQs
When can I volunteer in Nevada?
Your help is needed for our final Get Out The Vote push right before the election. Election Day is going to be very exciting and we hope you'll join us for the duration.Sign up on our Drive for Change sign up page.
What will I be doing?
Your trip will begin with a training at 9am on the day of your arrival. The majority of the shifts will be canvassing: knocking on doors, reminding supporters to get out and vote, but may also include data entry (bring a laptop if you have one) and visibility.Watch a quick video on how to canvass to learn more.
We're grateful to those interested in driving supporters to the polls but our 'Rides to the Polls' program will be run entirely by locals.
If you are unable to spend time outdoors walking door-to-door or would prefer to make phone calls, there are a number of phone banks where your efforts would be very much appreciated. Contact your local California office or Idaho office to find a location near you or make phone calls from home using our online Neighbor-to-Neighbor tool.
When should I arrive and how long do I need to stay?
You should plan to arrive at 9am for a training. We ask that all volunteers stay through Election Night on Tuesday, November 4th.Where should I stay in Nevada?
After signing up to Drive for Change, you will be assigned to the location of your choice, Las Vegas or Reno.Due to the large number of volunteers, the campaign is unable to provide housing during your trip.
Visit our Drive for Change Housing page for more ideas on where to stay in Nevada.
How do I find other volunteers to carpool with?
Due to the large number of volunteers, the campaign cannot coordinate your travel. Visit our Drive for Change Transportation page for ideas for making it to Nevada and/or setting up a carpool. Will my travel costs be covered or reimbursed by the campaign?
No, each volunteer is responsible for his or her own travel costs. What do I need to bring with me?
Check out our Drive for Change Packing List. What should I wear?
Your clothing should be comfortable and casual. There is no need to dress up. You will be spending a great deal of time outdoors going door-to-door, so please bring layered clothing to be prepared for any weather! Please bring some non-Obama specific clothing in case you are stationed at a location that has requested our voter registration efforts be non-partisan. See our complete packing list for more help.
Will food be provided?
Unfortunately, the campaign is unable to provide meals during your trip. Please plan accordingly and make sure to have plenty of water on you! What else should I know before I come?
The Silver State is pronounced “NevAda” as in, “pad, glad, sad or dad.” “I hAd a great time in NevAda.”Check out our How to Canvass in Nevada video to learn more about going door-to-door in Nevada.
For those who are driving, the heat and elevation is taxing on vehicles. It is recommended that you check all fluids and tire pressure before leaving. Also, make sure you have an ample supply of water in your car.
Thank you, again, for your commitment to the Nevada Campaign for Change. This campaign needs you on the ground, doing the important work to help Democrats up and down the ticket win this November!
