Montana Voting Rules
Voter Registration Form:

Deadline to Register:
You can register until polls close with the exception of 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm the day before the election.
Voter Eligibility:
To be able to vote in Montana you must be: 18 years old or older on or before the next election, a citizen of the United States, have lived in Montana and in the county in which you intend to vote for at least 30 days. You cannot vote if: you're a convicted felon serving a sentence in a penal institution, you've been judged in a court of law to be of unsound mind.
Identification Requirements:
You must provide your Montana driver’s license number, if you have a Montana driver’s license. If you do not have a Montana driver’s license, list the last four digits of your Social Security number. (If you have neither a Montana driver’s license nor a Social Security number, provide (in person) or enclose (by mail) a copy of one of the following: any photo ID with your name; OR a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows your name and current address).

How to Register Others:
In Montana anyone is able to conduct a voter registration drive. Click here for further information and to download the voter registration card. You may turn the voter registration cards in for the voter. You may turn the forms into the SOS and they will forward them to the proper county. If you would like to turn them in directly to the county you can print a list of counties and addresses here. They must be turned in no later than 15 days after the date is it signed (details).
Absentee Voting:
Excuses: None Required.

Applications are available during a period beginning 75 days before (Sept.18) Election Day and ending at noon on the day before (Nov. 3) Election Day.
Early Vote:
In person early voting is available beginning 35 days before Election Day.
