Vote in Mississippi

The Mississippi primary is coming up on Tuesday, March 11th. Read the information below to make sure you're prepared to vote on Primary Day. Registered Mississippi voters can also vote early and make their voices heard right away by requesting an absentee ballot.

Poll Hours and Locations

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Identification

If you are a first-time voter in Mississippi who registered by mail and did not provide identification at that time, you should bring a valid photo ID, current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows your name and address.


Absentee Voting

If you will be out of your home county on Election Day (Tuesday, March 11th) or otherwise qualify to vote absentee, you may be able to request an absentee ballot by mail or in-person at your local county's registrar's office.

By mail

Registered voters who are temporarily residing out of the county of their residence, persons having a temporary or permanent physical disability, persons who are sixty-five (65) years of age or older, or any person who is the parent, spouse or dependent of a temporarily permanently physically disabled person who is hospitalized outside of his county of residence or more than fifty miles away from his residence, and such parent, spouse or dependent will be with such person on election day, may obtain absentee ballots by mail.

Please check with your local county registrar's office to find out if you are eligible to vote absentee by mail. Mailed absentee ballots must be received by the registrar no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10. Mailed ballots received by the registrar after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, but before 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, will have votes counted only for the office of President.

In Person

If you are eligible for an absentee ballot you may vote in-person from now until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 at your local county registrar's office. In addition to their regular hours, all registrars' offices will be open until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday March 1, and Saturday, March 8, before the election.
