A. Click here or call (312) 819-2008 to register your event providing your full name, street address, telephone number, email address, and the time of your event. You can download a host packet here or you can request that a packet be mailed to you if registering your event over the telephone.
Q. How do I register my event online?
A. Follow these steps to register your event:
• Click here to create a personal profile. You’ll be asked to provide your name, zip code and email address
• After creating your profile, click “Plan an Event”
• Enter your zip code
• Go to “Select Type of Event” and click “3/31 Kickoff”
• Click “Continue to Step 2”
• Step 2 asks you to fill in your event information including: the name and brief description of your event, time and address, how many guests can you accommodate, host contact information, indicate if you would like to receive RSVP notifications
• Click “Create Event”
• Enter the email addresses of guests you want to invite
• Type an invite message to your guests (optional)
• Click “Send Invitations“Q. Why is it important for me to register my event?
A. A campaign DVD with an important message from Barack Obama will be mailed to the hosts of all registered events. The registration process provides us with your correct mailing address. Also, the registration process allows you the opportunity to open your event to people in your area in addition to your invited guests. This is completely optional.
Q. How do I obtain the conference call telephone number so my guests and I can listen to the Iowa discussion?
A. Click here to sign up. For all those who provide email addresses, the telephone number and passcode will be sent out on March 30. For those without an email address, please provide your telephone number and you will receive a call with this information.
Q. Is it possible to get campaign merchandise (buttons, t-shirts, bumper stickers) for my party?
A. Party packets are available for purchase at a discounted rate.
Q. What’s the best time to start my event on Saturday, March 31st?
A. The live web stream of Barack Obama speaking in Iowa will begin at 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. Please ask your guests to arrive in time to view this event.
Q. Can I connect my home computer to a television to view the live web stream on a larger screen?
A. This can be done depending on your brand and type of television. Some stores market a PC to TV converter. You may wish to consult your local electronics store for details.
Q. What is in the host packet?
A. Inside the kit, you will find:
• party planning instructions
• contribution forms
• volunteer fundraising guidelines
• sign-in sheets
• a host feedback form
• guest comment forms
• a campaign DVD for you and your guests to view (hosts that register online and download the above documents will receive a DVD in the mail)
• a return envelope addressed to Obama for AmericaQ. Is there an expected fundraising goal?
A. Setting a fundraising goal is completely up to you.
Q. Why do individuals have to complete a contribution form for donations under $200?
A. According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), a signed contribution form containing specific information is required for every contribution over $200. However, as many individuals are giving multiple small contributions, their completed contribution forms will help the campaign determine if/when their donations total more than $200.
Q. What do I do with the completed forms and contributions collected at my event?
A. Feedback and comment forms, contributions forms, sign-in sheets, and checks (payable to Obama for America) can be mailed, but no later than April 7, 2007, to:
