Hawaii Voting Rules
Voter Registration Form:

Deadline to Register:
30 days before Election Day (October 5, 2008) by 4:30 p.m.
Voter Eligibility:
In order to register to vote in the state of Hawaii individuals must: be a US citizen; be a resident of the state of Hawaii; and be at least 18 years of age prior to Election Day.
Identification Requirements:
It is required for the voter to provide their social security number on the voter registration form in order to be registered. ID is also required at the time of voting.
Where to Turn in Your Registration:
Registration forms should be turned in to the voter’s local County Clerk Office. A list of County Clerks Offices can be found here.
How to Register Others:
Collecting voter registration forms from individuals is not allowed. Individuals registering to vote must turn in their own voter registration form to the County Clerks themselves.
Absentee Voting:
Any registered voter may vote absentee by mail. No excuses are necessary.
Begin the Application Process
Applications should be turned in to the voter’s local County Clerks Office. A list of County Clerk’s Offices can be found here.
Dates: Applications to vote absentee will be accepted beginning 60 days before the election (Sept 5th, 2008) and must be in not later than 7 days before the election (Oct 28, 2008) by 4:30 p.m.
Early Vote:
Any registered voter may vote walk-in absentee, no excuses necessary. Walk-in absentee ballots for the 2008 General Election can be cast at the voter’s local County Clerks Office between Oct 21, 2008 and Nov 1, 2008. A list of County Clerks offices can be found here.
