Georgia Voting Rules
Voter Registration Form:

Deadline to Register:
October 6, 2008.
Voter Eligibility:
In order to register to vote in Georgia, an individual must: be a citizen of the United States; be a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which they wish to vote; be at least 18 years of age by Election Day; not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony; have not been judicially determined to be mentally incompetent.
Identification Requirements:
If this form is being submitted by mail and the individual is registering for the first time in Georgia, a copy of one of the following must be enclosed with their application: A copy of a current and valid photo ID, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows their name and address. Individuals must provide their Georgia driver’s license number or state issued ID number on the voter registration form. If an individual does not have either of these forms of identification, they must provide the last four digits of their social security number on the voter registration form.
Where to Turn in Your Registration:
Voter registration forms should be returned to the voter’s local County Board of Registrars Office. A list of County Registrars Offices can be found here.
How to Register Others:
All voter registration forms must be turned in to the voter’s local County Board of Registrars no longer than 10 days of completion of the form. There are no other regulations involved in registering others to vote.
Absentee Voting: Absentee voting is allowed. No excuses are required.

Applications and ballots should be returned to the voter’s local County Registrar’s Office. A list of County Registrars Offices can be found here.
Dates: Individuals may apply for an absentee ballot as early as 180 days before the election. Absentee ballots must be signed and received by the county board of registrars' office on or before Election Day - no absentee ballots are issued on Election Day.
Early Vote:
Any registered voter is allowed to vote in advance, no excuses necessary.
Dates: Advanced ballots can be cast in person at the County Registration Office during normal business hours on the Monday through Friday of the week prior to the election (Sept 22, 2008 through Oct 31, 2008). A list of County Registrars Offices can be found here.
