In 2008, the Democratic Primary for New York State will be on Tuesday, February 5. If you have questions that are not answered on this page, please visit the NYS Board of Elections Web site or call our State Headquarters at 212-732-2008.

If you live in New York City, you can use the New York City Board of Elections Poll Site Locator.

If you live outside the city, please look up and contact your county Board of Elections.

Absentee Balloting

If you are going to be unavoidably absent from your county on Primary Day due to duties, occupation, business, studies or vaction, or if you are unable to appear at the polls because of illness or disability, you can still vote in the New York primary via absentee ballot -- it's your right.

To receive an absentee ballot:

1.Download the absentee ballot application form, complete and hand it in in personto your county Board of Elections office.

or

2. Visit your county Board of Elections office.

Deadlines for Absentee Balloting

Do not mail in your written request for an absentee ballot. The deadline has passed.

Your absentee ballot application form must be hand-deliverted to your county Board of Elections no later than Monday, February 4, 2008.

The absentee ballot itself must be postmarked no later than Monday, February 4, 2008

Voter Registration

The primary is open to registered Democrats only. Unfortunately, the deadline has already passed for new voter registration, as well as for switching parties from Independent or Republican to Democrat for the purposes of voting in the February 5 primary.
