Missouri Voter Registration Information
Who Can Register to Vote?
Any legal Missouri resident who is a U.S. citizen and will be at least 18 years old on November 4, 2008 can register to vote.
Can College Students Register to Vote?
Yes, students who consider Missouri their state of residence can register to vote.
Can Formerly Incarcerated People Register to Vote?
Yes. Upon completion of your sentencing and probation and parole, you can register to vote and be eligible to vote in the election.
Do Voters Need to Bring ID on Election Day?
Registered Voters need to only bring ONE of the following types of ID
- ID issued by the Federal Government, state of Missouri, or a local election authority;
- ID issued by a Missouri institution (public or private) of higher education, including a university, college, vocational and technical school;
- A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document that contains the name and address of the voter;
- Driver's license or state identification card issued by another state.
When is the Voter Registration Deadline?
Postmarked or hand delivered to the Missouri Secretary of State's Office or your local county Board of Elections by October 8th, 2008.
When is the Absentee Ballot Application Deadline?
You must request an absentee ballot early enough to allow for the ballot to be mailed to you and for you to mail your ballot back before the polls close. The deadline for absentee ballot requests is 5pm on October 29th, 2008. That being said, you should submit your application well in advance of that date to ensure it is received in time.
