This has happened before, yet at this time it is important that I mention what has been occurring. When I go to the site to donate, after the submission, the next page appears and asks that I add email addresses of individuals that I know who care about, want and support the Public Option as well. Then after happily submitting their names, the prompter came back and informed me that one of the email addresses I entered is incorrect. So, I went through the list and examined the email addresses I added. They were all correct. In fact, I receive emails from these citizens regularly. So, I resubmitted the addresses again; and the same thing happened.

In an effort to discover which email address was being unrecognized, this time I methodically erased one name at a time to see if any would go through. But, kept receiving the same message. Then just to make certain, I entered one email address from an individual that I had just received an email from and it was unrecognized as well. I wondered why is this happening?

Then I thought, Wow! We are doing much better than even we imagine! Without the ability to rapidly expand and reach out and empower others; we are still achieving tremendous success, (over 300,000 calls in one day), going about it in the old-fashioned way! This just tells us how determined the Everyday Man and Woman are to create and develop the Public Option and secure Real Medical Care for all of our citizens!

So, as we continue strengthening ourselves, one person at a time – can the computer experts of our OFA Website, find a solution so we can submit multiple email addresses to rapidly include others during this exciting time? After all, the majority of our Senators and our citizens Representatives already understand how important it is for an individual to have ongoing top rate medical care for themselves and their families; they are human too.

I recently recieved in my e-mail inbox an awful idea saying that supporters of President Obama should all honk at each other to show their support. Unlike whoever came up with that idea, I take my support of President Obama very seriously. So I wanted to offer some thoughts in the form of a blog on what things will actually help President Obama win reellection in 2012.

At my school we have a few people who refuse to support you. I always confuse them by asking them why that don't supprt and I make them give me a reason why they don't support and then I give them a bunch of facts and stuff about the war or the recession and then they might just ignore me or look confused, or just say whatever. I have changed the mind of many and my goal isn't a number like 5 per week, it is EVERYONE.

In 8 months, President Obama has accomplished more for our country than has been done in the past 50 years! There is much debate regarding the proposed health care plan. There may be issues resulting from lobbyists and Republicans fighting the proposal, but based on the history of the economy in the past 8 months, I have seen the property values increasing; I have seen gas prices lowering; I have seen groceries becoming more affordable; I have seen people finding jobs; and I have heard less about home foreclosures. So, based on this past 8 month history showing improvement we have not seen in the past 8 years, I believe the Obama health care plan will work. The issue is not the plan, but whether or not people will give the plan an opportunity to work. There are so many lies regarding the health care plan, that people are confused and fear tactics are working. But given the fact that I am now in a better financial situation than I was in January 2009, I am willing to give the plan an opportunity to work before I shoot it out of the water.

Americans are used to fast food service. We expect to snap our fingers and have results, rather than giving time an opportunity to prove results. We have waited for 8 years to see change. Now, Americans are stating our President is a failure because there was no immediate change 24 hours within his taking office. Friends, we cannot expect over night results. It has taken 8 years to create this financial disaster we are currently in, and it has taken much longer to create the problems we are currently facing in the field of health care. Give the man a chance to let his plan work! Stop snapping your fingers and expecting over night results. The problems didn't occur over night, and they won't go away over night.

I personally believe our President has not led us down a path to destruction, and I continue to support him. If you want real change, then give him the opportunity to make that change. There are a lot of entities, including media, who are bashing his efforts, and claiming failure, when he has only begun to make the changes he has promised. Change takes time. We allowed our former President 8 years to make changes, and no efforts were made to accomplish change. President Obama has been making every effort to effect the change we need, while some Americans are becoming impatient. They do not understand the opposition he is facing. They are also not helping to implement change by switching horses in midstream. Winning means you put your shoulder to that grindstone and push, no matter how hard it is! Change will not come over night. But don't give up. We have a President who WILL make those changes happen, if we all continue to support him. Stop listening to the media, and go to the Washington website and read what is being done to benefit YOU!. The media are about one agenda; becoming popular so they can get a bigger pay raise, so they expound on the negative to be on the top of the list for "breaking news." The media is biased. They all have an agenda to promote self. If you want facts, go to the source of the facts, and stop listening to biased media coverage. Stop going to websites that are bogus, filled with lies, inuendo, fear tactics, and confusion. President Obama, I support you! I back you 100%!!! I am patiently waiting. Health care is a vital issue with me, because I am a disabled widow. I am not senile, I am not ignorant, and I am educated. I know that over my lifetime, I have seen more effort made on my behalf since President Obama has been in office, than in the past 50 years, and that speaks volumes to me!

Give our President time. He didn't win the election without fighting his way to the top. He needed our support then, and he needs it now! Don't bail in the middle of the war. We still have a hill to overtake. That hill is the opposition to the health care plan. The health care plan is not a drive through window at McDonalds. It's a full course meal, which takes time to prepare. Instead of complaining that the table is not set, get in the kitchen and go to work to help fix the meal. Continue your support for our President.

My Letter to Bill

As asked, I paid a visit to my Senator. He is Bill Nelson, Democrat and long time Senator from Florida. Of course, I never expected to see him, but I did want him to "see" me ... in the form of a letter I hand delivered to his office in Fort Myers. I was cheerfully greeted by a staffer, Chris, to whom I introduced myself, and to whom I gave the letter. And I told him, I am a 66 year old Republican who is here to support our President's vision of healthcare reform.

Chris smiled. Actually, he smiled the whole time. But he said nothing ... other than thanks ... and I could tell that he really didn;t want to get into any dialog about helathcare, and that if he did, what I would hear is whatever "company" line he'd been programed to say ... ergo nothing. But I really hadn't expected anything more. If there is anything a politician hates, it is having to address a "Hot Potato" issue with direct answers. I know. I've been there. Aides hate it even more. But I got what I was after, and that was leaving my thoughts with the Senator, knowing that in some fashion he will see them. I leave them here with you as well.

Dear Senator:

Sometime ago, I sent you a letter (by e-mail) that I asked be distributed to your congressional counterparts. It expressed my support for healthcare reform, and moreover my outrage at any attempt to avoid an equitable proposal in this matter. I wanted to caution Congress that the vast majority of people in this country want and expect universal coverage for all. I am including that letter with this (enclosed).

Let me reintroduce myself:

I am a 66 year old, white Republican. I have held elected office (B of CC- Lee County – ’78 to ’82) and throughout the years, have served on various appointed boards. Your early career overlaps mine. We have met several times, and we share a common friendship with the ****** family.

I am also a widow … twice. Both wives died from cancer. The first … Karen … died in 1994 at age 44 after a ten year battle with melanoma. The second … Pat … died in 2005 after a nine year battle with Breast Cancer.

Combined, I was a caregiver for over 20 years. In the course of that, I had dealings with Aetna, Humana, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Medicare. I can tell you unequivocally, at one time or another I had problems with all of them.

- 1994, Aetna was trying to get the Oncologist to discharge Karen from the hospital the day she actually died.
- In 1996, Humana initially denied Pat’s claim for her first surgery … the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, the hospital … all for different reasons; all false; all corrected by one phone call from me; but devastating to her. She had just been diagnosed and treated for a life threatening disease. Imagine dealing with that and a claim denial!
- In 1998, Pat went on SS disability, and as such qualified for Medicare or a alternative plan. We chose a plan offered by BC&BS that included prescriptions, thereby waving Medicare with a supplement. Within two years, BC&BS had discontinued that plan, forcing us back to Medicare and thus into coverage with no prescription benefit.
- We would up with United as a supplement who at various points denied certain claims that were ultimately paid, but not without a lot of effort by me on my wife’s behalf. Thankfully I knew my way around because most people wouldn’t.

In 1989 Karen had major surgery (radical lymphectomies, both sides. At that time, we were without insurance because she had changed jobs, her new job had no group and no one would take her because of her pre-existing condition. We wound up $89,000 in debt. We ultimately lost our home.

Throughout my 20 years of care-giving, no company has been without sin. Even the ’89 situation; we should have been able to take her prior coverage with us, not be faced with a ridiculous “COBRA” package that only a few can afford.. We couldn’t.

Senator, this only scratches the surface of the personal stories I can share. But the bottom line is something has to be done … something that is fair and equitable and available to ALL Americans, not just a privileged few.

Each day, I drive on roads as needed, not according to my ability to pay. I receive police protection as needed, not according to my ability to pay. I have military defense as needed, not according to my ability to pay. How can it be that healthcare is only available to me if I or an employer on my behalf pays specifically for me; that even then is only available to me on a selective basis … and maybe not at all?

With all due respect, let me remind you and your colleagues, the Preamble of the Constitution says that its purpose is to form a more perfect union, and that to do that, we must do the following things.

establish justice,
insure domestic tranquility,
provide for the common defense,
promote the general welfare,
and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity

Senator, what could be more in the general welfare than quality healthcare for all? Who would respect a nation that didn’t believe it to be so? Please support our President in his efforts to rectify this wrong. Most Sincerely,

On Sunday, August 9, in West Chester, PA, OFA did phonebanking for the President's health care reform principles.

This time we phoned people in our state but not our immediate area. We got more answered phones and virtually everyone who answered declared support for the Obama principles. Nearly all agreed to phone their representatives in Congress. As a result, the phonebank was a high energy event.

Yellow Springs is on board with Health Reform

Monday July 6, Yellow Springs Village Council unanimously adopted a Resolution supporting President Obama's Health Reform initiative. The Manager was directed to communicate this resolution widely.That will be done within the next week or so.

Citizens publically calling for reform through their government might help demonstrate grassroots support. At least I hope so.

The Resoluton will be posted on the Village's website at YSO.com in the near future.

Independent Democrat Senators

Soon as we got a Democrat in the White House, a bunch of Senators claiming to be Democrats rushed to show how independent they are, declaring they won’t necessarily vote in support of the President’s agenda that he was elected to enact. As a Hoosier, I’ll put Indiana’s Evan Bayh (pronounced “Bye” or “Buy”) at the top of the list.

Mr. Obama is right to allow politicians to vote their “consciences” (oxymoron is obvious). Where he’s wrong is in promising to raise money for them. I won’t give one penny to support ANY Senator who fails to toe the line and earnestly help the President do what he promised. Many promises were made. If they’re not kept because Democrats in the Senate support powerful banks and other lobbies against the people who support Mr. Obama’s agenda, then Bayh-Bayh to them come the primary.

If self-described Democrats in the Senate refuse to push through the President’s agenda, then it’s up to us to FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL. I won’t give money to or raise money for Evan Bayh or Arlen Spector or any of the approximately eight others who have declared themselves “independent” of this cause.

They want our money and votes only to betray us to the powerful lobbyists who own them. We need to start work right now finding better people to run against them in the primaries and start raising the money they’ll need to win.

We kept McCain and Palin out of the White House. We certain can put Bayh, Specter and those other eight “independent” Democrats OUT of the Senate. CHANGE is coming to America.

To President Barak and Michelle Obama.

50+ years of coverup of the sexual abuse of children by Catholic clergy across the globe. 7 years since the global acknowledgement of a coverup in a number of countries. In those 7 years the problem has been found to extend to every country on the planet where the church exists. The numbers of abused is estimated to be in the millions.

What happens to a country and a world which has been deceived for more than 50 years by those who supposedly lead the way. The country suffers from the problems which come from and continue to come from the activities undertaken during those past 50 years by the church in its covering up of the abuses.

The response of our government appears to have been to increase its involvements and workings with this socially dysfunctional church and appears to wish to continue in that way without seeking from the church a definitive point in time for the church to respond in an appropriate manner or to give the people of Australia their democratic right to sayif they wish to continue to trade with a broken Catholic church.

Without proper intervention each American becomes disadvantaged as there is no policy set down as to how our country should deal with the fact that the Church is unable to provide a policy itself while we all understand that is the most basic of things we need from this church so that every American child will not have to find a path through the hypocritical life we provide to them whilst this matter remains unaddressed in our society.

When both Church and State fail us on this scale it is the children who suffer first and suffer the most.

The Church and the Government must take positive and appropriate action. Itis both inappropriate and dysfunctional for Governments right across the world to continue to trade with this church until we have a clear understanding of how both your Government and the Catholic Church make it clear to us all just how they are going to resolve the matter of the sexual abuse of our children by so many priests of the worlds' leading Christian Church.

We obviously see both Church and State repeatedly fail to act in the light of this understanding and in the knowledge of the harm this causes our world and the lives of each of us living it.

Set aside September 1st 2009 as the last day we get to hear any leader inthe world utter the words "This is a matter for the Church" when he speaks of the children sexually abused by clergy.

Set aside September 1st 2009 as the day your Government and the Catholic Church provide us all with a clear and appropriate set of policies making it clear to us how we can live our lives without these aberrant behaviours from both Church and Government.

Barak, as the President of The United States we simply take your support for granted.

President Obama is talking to us like adults. He doesn’t sugarcoat his message or claim to have the silver bullet. Since taking office, he's encouraged us to be patient and persistent in charting our course - I think his words were, “more ocean liner than speed boat.”
President Obama’s budget is big, but it’s a bold and important down payment on our long-term economic recovery here and across the nation.

I’m sick and tired of our bubble-driven economy. From the dot.com craze to the housing bubble, I know so many people who have been affected by the constant boom and bust that has made our economy unstable.

I agree with President Obama that now is the time to make significant investments to help our economy develop in a sustainable way, and provide real growth and services the people on Main Street need.

These days, all the pundits seem to talk about is President Obama’s budget plan. Is it too expensive? Is it too ambitious?
I am happy to see that President Obama is engaging his supporters - the regular people who elected him to office – to help build grassroots support for his budget blueprint.
Making healthcare more affordable, investing in education, and creating a safer, greener energy policy, are the changes we fought for during the election.
And that's why I was so pleased to see my congressional representative vote in support of the President's plan and give him the help he needs to put a down payment on a more sustainable, economic future for all of us.

A Nice Place to Live

When we decided to live in San Martin 9 years ago, we had great dreams to realize here. It was the country life we wanted so much, yet it was very close to all the amenities of a big city life. We were in a booming economy with hundreds of jobs available, we had lots of friends who were happy, successful and active. Then, the "Silicon Valley Bubble" bursted.

With Barack Obama's election we started having a hope for the change to be happy and successful again, to be in peace again... That is why I joined this group to get involved in creating a strong community feeling, helping and supporting each other in every way possible.

Our friends are our support group in hard times. To make friends we need to get to know people, to get to know people we need to become friends with them. We must bring back the trust, tolerance, understanding and the gift of sharing. We must open our doors and build strong, safe, peaceful communities. I hope to find it with this network.

The President's Budget Pledge

Many Americans, including ordinary citizens as well as pundits on TV and radio are complaining that the new budget proposed is much too large... but remember... we have had a tremendous amount of neglect of education, healthcare, the environment and our nation's infastructure over the last eight years. Now we have to spend a great deal to catch up to where we should have been had Democrats been in the lead!

Our nation is really, truely desperate for change, and much have that change will need to be bought with massive expeditures. That is why the President is asking us to help him to promote his budget.

$2.85 billion Taken From Fathers' Tax Returns

“A record $2.85 billion in alleged delinquent child support was collected from federal income tax refund offsets in 2008 under the Federal Offset Program.”

The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Admin. for Children and Families announced that the 2008 collection record broke the previous one in 2007 by over $1.15 billion.

That’s well and nice, but it’s partly a LIE.

Men NOT paying child support isn’t the only reason for arrears. Men also have arrears when they are hit with up to 23 years of retroactive child support (Michigan Law) on a child they never knew existed.

My nursing home roommate was in arrears for 15 years due to the mother moving away and not telling him where. He found the boy last year, resulting in her renewing the CS claim. She got his 2008 return, but not anymore. After the boy came to see him, the father died of cancer.

There’s also active duty reservists whose child support was based on their private sector income. Only Missouri and Illinois allows for emergency or retroactive reductions for reservists. The rest just fell behind, as only 55% of their gross income can be taken, PLUS their tax returns.

There is far more to the problem of arrears than what is given to the media, or the media is willing to report on.

As a candidate, Barak Obama represented, to me at least, a strong model of common sense, humanity, and courage.

The hypercapitalist policies that the US has followed since the Reagan administration can be viewed as a bold experiment in an approach that many people thought would be good for the country and its people. But the results of that experiment are now known: The policies failed, by almost every conceivable measure.

It's hard to admit that we've made a mistake, harder to propose a clean break with the failed approach, and harder still to do so without going to an extreme that has even less chance of success. Candidate Obama accomplished all of that, and I was impressed.

I was also a bit skeptical that he could maintain this direction after taking office, facing the pressures in Washington directly, and having to deal with the major problems that now face our country. A major redirection of policy can't be accomplished with very much compromise.

But the budget that President Obama presented to Congress is the real thing.

Now the ball is in our court -- the folks whose votes the members of Congress will need in order to keep their jobs. Purists can get upset about whatever compromises were made -- even though they are small in relation to the impact of the package as a whole. Former supporters of the old policies will need courage to admit they had been wrong -- even though this is what most of us do throughout our lives when it becomes a simple matter of accepting facts. And, of course, lobbiests and the like will want to have their say, whether it makes sense for the country or not.

Without pressure from their constituents, the Congress can reduce the President's plans to a footnote. But if they do get enough pressure from the voters, they'll have to think twice about that approach. Yes, there are some powerful lobbies in Washington, and a lot of influential big-shots, and all the rest. But it is the folks who cast their votes in the next election who will decide who stays in Congress and who gets fired.

We need to make that point clear.

Civil Obedience

Yesterday, I fulfilled my civic duty, as an America, and voted. Being a first time voter, I found the voting process to be foreign, however, I found it less arduous than I had first imagined. After a while, I turned in my ballot, and at last, I had fulfilled my civic duty. I was immediately filled with an emotion of patriotism, and was given a sticker which said "I VOTED" and put it on my chest and wore it with pride.

Whoever you voted for, whatever beliefs you may hold, and whatever race, religion or gender you may be, it is now time to unite, as Americans. The end of this election is only the beginning. And as all of the hype of yesterdays election dies down, we must all come together to realize that today is much more important a day. For this day marks the beginning that we all, as citizens or immigrants of the United States of America, must come together, and face the many problems that threaten our liberties as we know it. It is our generation that was dumped with all of these problems; more significantly, it is our generation that must solve them. Accordingly, it is only right that our generation's majority has spoken by electing the next President to lead us into tomorrow.

I'm not some mindless college kid following a trend, but am really invested in this thing. The response has been great! From Republican and Democrat alike. I'm glad I did it, you should too!

Here's what I sent maybe it can inspire your own:

Hello Everyone,

I hope you will read this; I will try to be brief. I have been doing some volunteering lately for the BYU Democrats and especially for Barack Obama’s Campaign for Change. A key point in the campaign’s philosophy is that we make sure we share with everyone our personal story for why we support whom we support. It’s important to me that everyone know I’m not behind Obama because I’m young and impressionable but because I feel that we as Americans have a vested interest in seeing this man become President.

I’m a junior at BYU majoring in Middle East Studies with the goal of one day serving the United States as a Foreign Service Officer. Diplomacy to me is key to American security. Soldiers are a precious resource, they’re individuals with husbands and wives and families who love them, and should be used only as a last line of defense. Senator Obama understands the need to use diplomacy first and warfare last. America has lost too much credibility on the world stage doing the reverse. I want my boss to be someone who understands that important balance.

Second, Kennedy encouraged his countrymen to “ask not what your country can do for you [but to] ask what you can do for your country.” The reason that statement lives on almost half a century later is because it’s an emboldening principle, an ideal of American civic virtue. After 9/11, despite the fact that we as nation felt a huge swell of solidarity, few outside of the military were asked to sacrifice much of anything, we were asked to shop; that was a wasted opportunity. Obama will build-up programs like the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps and Teach for America, programs that encourage our best and brightest to give back to the nation that gave them so many opportunities. Educated people make countries stronger, and help with tuition in return for helping the country only makes sense.

Third, from just a personal viewpoint, when Obama says he believes in every American’s potential and that America’s brightest days are still ahead, I believe him. All I did was give the campaign my name, my number and a pledge to volunteer and they gave me a list of people to talk with. For those people I was the voice of the Obama Campaign, even though Barack Obama has no idea who I am. Yet because of his beginnings as a community activist he entrusts millions of us to be his ears and voice rather than rely on something maybe more accurate and infallible (like robo-calls). To me that spells trust and real confidence in the American people.

So those are just some very simple reasons why I’m so excited to see Barack Obama become our next president. I don’t think he’s a Messiah, he’s not a pop-culture icon for me, but he does give me hope for the future and he does make me excited to be an American and to represent this incredible country abroad. I’m linking this to Obama’s Blueprint for Change, which sums up the campaign’s position on most of the major issues (and some you might not expect). I know my few little reasons won’t apply to some of your major concerns so I’m encouraging you to take a look at the ones that do.

And if you’ve already made your decision for McCain I think that’s great. I hope you won’t mind getting this from me, I’m so tired of partisanship and I hope we can still be friends (politics isn’t worth dividing friendships over). One day the time of wars and nations will be over and all we’ll have left is our friends and families, so I hope we can all keep our priorities straight ;) Thanks for reading.

Dear Lauren and Liam,

Although you aren’t aware of it, this is a very important time in the history of your country. Right now, Lauren, you’re more concerned with reading your latest library books, and asking when the next Girl Scout meeting will be. You’re still on a sugar high from all the Halloween candy, and already excited about Christmas. You’ve been thinking of toys for your Christmas list for weeks, though it’s only November 2nd. And Liam, you’re too busy trying to get into your sister’s things, and bringing me Wiggles videos to play for you. You’re curious about everything around you: bugs, boxes full of interesting things, birds and airplanes and choo-choo trains. You have no idea that the world around you is changing.

But changing it is. Right now, the American economy is on the brink of a disaster of proportions not seen since the Great Depression. The housing market is collapsing, the stock market seems to drop a few hundred more points each trading day, and people are losing their jobs. I survived a round of layoffs at my company; others weren’t so lucky. And the economy isn’t the only problem, though it has become first on people’s minds.

Obama holds a small lead in Ohio where in recent years state government has been rocked by republican scandals, cronyism, and corruption on top of the Bush's follies. If you have any doubts left about what kind of president Barack Obama would make, just look at how he's run his campaign. When has anyone united so many people like this since M.L. King or J.F. Kennedy? For the most part, he kept it clean and avoided smear tactics too. And can you run a more organized campaign? If he can do that, he certainly can manage our government!

When I was at his rally in Leesburg VA on October 22nd, I was amazed at the crowd! They were as polite and happy a group as ever I've witnessed. And 35,000 of them at that! No nasty name-calling, pushing or shoving! Just people together, excited to see Senator Obama and there to support him. The group looked like the 1970s Coke commercial! Finally the America I have idealized and dreamed about really can come true.

It seems painfully obvious to me that Senator Obama is out to help and unite everyone, all Americans, all ages, sizes and colors! I truly believe the more people that know more about him cannot avoid seeing that. Please keep the support going these last few days!

A Stolen Supporter Magnet

I skipped lunch at work few times in July so I could donate that money to Barack's campaign. It's not good for me to miss any meals, but this cause is important to me.

I received an Obama/Biden magnet in late August - I loved it. I proudly put it on my car... I even left it on to visit my father in Virginia! (one of the days I was visiting him, I went to a craft fair that was sponsored by their local Republican office. I never took my magnet off!)

The magnet survived the entire Virginia trip intact, which amazed me due to the heavy Republican contingent there.

Today, I left my apartment and headed to my car, but immediately noticed a lack of my magnet. I don't know if it was swiped at the Park and Ride I use, or perhaps on the street by my apartment. While I'm sad that I'm now without a magnet, I can only hope that it was taken by another supporter who maybe can't afford a magnet of their own, but still want to show their pride for Obama. I can't bear to think that someone would have taken it just to try and tear this movement down, even just a bit.

Forgive me if this post was badly written/has spelling/grammar errors - I just worked a very stressful 11-hour shift, and I'm a bit off my game.

Open Letter to Republicans and Independents:

I'm a former independent voter a fiscal conservative, a veteran and a concerned citizen. I recognized nearly Eight years ago that our country was heading down a really bad path. I want to urge all Republicans and Independent voters to come out in support of Barack Obama. I know conservative Democrats whose ethics and values are more conservative than most Republicans. I have Republican friends that are more liberal than some Democrats. Even independent centrists who lean both Right or Left. In many instances party affiliations have become meaningless.

I'm an American Citizen First ... and your country needs you ?

What really matters is that America is the sum of its people ... Left, Right and Center. We need to learn from our mistakes ... rather than repeat them. We as Americans will rise or fall together.

The politics of division has brought us all to this historic moment ... our countries very survival as a bastion of free democracy is threatened. Our military resources are stretched on a war of undetermined length with no defined and achievable goal. We are facing a financial meltdown that is global in scope which threatens whats left of our prosperity and no clear consensus on how to resolve it.

We need to think .... long and hard about what "Trickle Down" and this so called "Free Market Economy" has done to our nation. The recession that Bush wants to avert .... came to Main Street long before it came to Wall Street. Just ask the Steel Workers and the line assembly workers and farmers who have lost their jobs to the lowest bidders overseas. Our priorities are all wrong. Allowing American businesses to escape paying any taxes at all ... by allowing them to setup their headquarters offshore. Allowing predatory lending practices to exploit those without verifiable incomes .... many of who lost their good paying jobs long ago in exchange for low wage jobs making it impossible to afford a home.

We allowed for profit Health Care to eat into the profits of businesses and average citizens alike at costs that are not sustainable. We have treated "the defenders of our democracy" ... our Veterans shabbily with insufficient funding for their needs. Elders on fixed incomes many of whom fought in WWII .... being charged for overpriced medications. Its just not right !

Our common bonds .... We are all proud Americans that want a brighter future for our children and grandchildren. We all want an America to prosper again. We can squabble over how that can be achieved but we do know what has worked in the past. To get started we need a return to real traditional values ... not rhetoric. Rather than coddle our children we need to teach our children the importance of discipline, education, hard work and how to manage money. We need to respect and reward the value of hard work, honesty and philanthropy rather than promote easy money, golden parachutes and unrestrained greed.

We need to find ways to lift all of our people up .... rather than tearing our people down by outsourcing their jobs.

We need to solve our domestic energy needs with a commitment to Energy Independence within a decade. No excuses .... lets just do it !

We need to reward innovation in Science and Technology again while respecting those of all religious faiths.

We need to educate all our citizens with the understanding that its an investment in our future .... if we hope to compete in global markets.

We need to teach civic responsibility in our schools and by rewarding those who give their time to the betterment of our nation and its communities.

We need leaders that are looking out for all Americans ... not just for power, money and influence.

None of this will be easy .... We must resolve to hold our government accountable and transparent ... both Democrats and Republicans alike.

Its time to Wake Up America !

American citizenship comes with an obligation to participate and safeguard our freedom and democracy.

American citizenship must come first .... Party Affiliation must comes Second.

Barack is the only candidate funded by the people .... not special interests.

Make Your Vote Count. Our nation is counting on you.

Is Hillary Keeping Her Promise

Everytime I write a post it is critical of Hillary Clinton......so much so that it must seem that I harbor a long-standing dislike of her. But that's absolutely not true. In fact, I admired and supported her until early this year when I realized that we have something very special in Barack Obama.

Accordingly, roughly 9 months ago I became an ardent Barack supporter and, with all the others, patiently waited those long excrutiating months for Hillary to finally drop out, support him, and act like the avid Democrat of which she is so capable.

She promised to fully support him and do "everything in my power" to help Barack Obama get elected. She has certainly made a few excellent speeches. And her husband delivered a top-notch speech at the convention. But, as was pointed out in a Huffington Post article a few days ago, it seems clear that Bill Clinton still harbors a resentment for what happened during the primary. And where is Hillary?

I could write almost endlessly on how important it is for Barack Obama to win in November. Suffice it to say, almost unbelievably, it is even more important now than it was only a few short months ago. John McCain would be horrible not only for the country, but for the entire world. It can almost be said that an Obama victory is mandatory.

Everyone must join together and do what each can to get him elected. Maximum effort for 5 more weeks is necessary. Is Hillary really on board?

Saying it is their duty to "fight for the truth and against lashon hara," more than 400 rabbis have joined to back Barack Obama's presidential bid in what is believed to be a first-of-its-kind effort.
Rabbis for Obama, officially unveiled last week, is a grass-roots organization formed when two Chicago-area rabbis came to the Democratic candidate's campaign wanting to help counter the many false rumors that have been spread about him.
"What makes this unique is the lies and smears" were "targeted to the Jewish community," said Rabbi Sam Gordon of Congregation Sukkat Shalom of Wilmette, Ill., citing the e-mails that falsely claimed Obama was a secret Muslim and educated at a madrassa. "Those of us who knew him felt we had to respond."
"These attacks that he's not supportive of Israel are just not true," said Rabbi Steve Bob of Congregation Etz Chaim in Lombard, Ill.
Jonathan Sarna, the Joseph H. & Belle R. Braun Professor of American Jewish History at Brandeis University, said he believes Rabbis for Obama is a first in the Jewish community.
"I certainly can remember many newspaper ads that rabbis would sign" backing a candidate, Sarna said, but "I can't remember another organization with this kind of title."
Partisan Times
Given the increased mix of religion and politics that the United States has seen in the past 20 to 30 years, he added, it is much more likely for such a group to spring up now than it would have been early in the 20th century.
Bob said that he and other members of the organization are interested in publicly speaking -- under the Rabbis for Obama banner -- on behalf of the Democratic candidate across the country and are currently discussing how to become more involved in key swing states.
The letter the rabbis signed states that the group backs Obama because "he will best support the issues important to us in the Jewish community."
In addition to writing that the Democrat is "inspired by Jewish values such as Tikkun Olam and the pursuit of justice," it states that Obama's "longstanding, stalwart support for Israel is a testament to his own principles" and that "attempts by some to use Israel as a wedge issue against him -- unjustifiably -- is dangerous in that it politicizes the pro-Israel position" and has "completely distorted Sen. Obama's record."
"We are fully aware that a smear campaign against Sen. Obama has been waged in the Jewish community, and we feel it is our duty as Jewish leaders to fight for the truth and against lashon hara," reads the missive, using the Hebrew term for evil gossip.
"Sen. Obama has been viciously attacked using innuendoes, rumors and guilt by association, and we urge our fellow American Jews to judge Sen. Obama based on his own record and the clear statements he has made about his personal beliefs and principles."
A Republican Jewish leader found that passage of the letter particularly objectionable.
"It's irresponsible and unprofessional as rabbis to give a hechsher in accusing us of lashon hara," said Matt Brooks, the executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition.
Brooks said the reference to "guilt by association" seemed to be referring to the RJC's criticism of Obama's links to his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and some who have been listed as the Democrat's foreign policy advisers -- two topics that Brooks believes are fair game in the debate over Obama's record.
Rabbis for Obama membership includes rabbis from every denomination, although one independent observer said he noticed only a couple of Orthodox rabbis on the list.
More than 300 rabbis were part of the group initially, and Bob said another 125 signed on since it became public last week -- including Michelle Obama's rabbi cousin, Capers Funnye.
A number of rabbis from the Philadelphia have also lent their support.
The Democratic Party and the Obama campaign have made a special effort to reach out to faith groups, but Jewish Democratic operative Matt Dorf said the organization and its missive is better seen as part of another strategy.
The Democratic goal is to reach persuadable Jewish voters through the testimony of people in "positions of influence" in the Jewish community -- rabbis, Jewish members of Congress and other well-known Jewish figures, such as former New York Mayor Ed Koch.
Anti-Defamation League national director Abraham Foxman, who has been critical of mixing religion and politics, said he was okay with the group. Rabbis don't have to give up their rights, he said. As long as they're not endorsing candidates from the pulpit, Foxman said, "I don't have a problem with it."
Not all rabbis feel comfortable with publicly endorsing a candidate.
"I feel my personal political views are personal," said Rabbi Steve Wernick of Adath Israel in Merion Station, Pa., a suburb of Philadelphia.
Wernick said he is happy to discuss his views with congregants privately, because he already has a relationship with them, but he doesn't feel it necessary to broadcast his views to those who don't know him. He stressed, though, that he has no problem with colleagues who signed the letter.
"It's the way our system is supposed to work," he said.
Church-State Conundrum
One Republican was critical of the rabbis for what he believed was a blurring of the church-state barrier.
"By linking their rabbinical position to a political campaign, they risk the charge of politicizing their positions and erasing the boundaries between church and state, which they typically seek to defend," said Noam Neusner, a communications consultant who served as liaison to the Jewish community during part of the Bush administration.
Neusner said the Bush campaign did not encourage such a letter or organization of rabbis "because of the sensitivity of the church-state issue."
Rabbis for Obama may be the first, but not the last, rabbinical effort backing a presidential candidate this election cycle.
Fred Zeidman, co-chair of the Republican Victory Jewish Coalition, said he spoke to some rabbis earlier this month -- and a few days before the unveiling of Rabbis for Obama -- who were interested in putting together a similar effort backing GOP candidate Sen. John McCain.

Why I support Obama for President

I support Senator Obama because I believe that he is the best candidate to solve the problems facing our country. Senator Obama has the judgment, the vision, and the leadership necessary to bring the country together and move forward (not backward, like McCain).

Senator Obama has had many experiences in his life that show me he is ready to lead our country in the right direction. He went to Columiba University on a scholarship, graduated at the top of his class, became the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, and he could've done anything he wanted with that kind of resume. What did he choose? He chose to help poor people in Chicago's South Side! Obama is the REAL DEAL!! Since then, he has gone on to become a Constitutional Law Professor, an Illinois State Senator, and US Senator. He has consistently shown inspiring vision, good judgment, and the ability to bring people together. I'm sure he would become one our country's greatest presidents.

McCain, on the other hand, has a terrible record. His only accomplishment seems to be that he was a POW. Since then, he has been a corrupt, pandering, lying politician. After his involvement in the Keating Five Scandal, he built an image (only the image) of being a "maverick". But since then, he has flip-flopped on EVERY important issue that he stood for... Bush's tax cuts, ethics reform, regulation, immigration... EVEN TORTURE! After 26 years of getting nothing done in Congress, McCain pretended to be the candidate with "experience" (he's only experienced in failure), but now pretends to be the agent of change because his party has ruined our country over the last 8 years! McCain has no principles, thinks the American people are all idiots who will believe his lies, and will do anything it takes to win.

Then, after becoming the GOP nominee, for his first major decision as a presidential candidate... he picks Sarah Palin! He could've easily picked someone who had more experience, more qualifications, or the ability to work in a bipartisan way. Instead, he chose Palin, who not only has no real qualifications to be VP, but also is the most polarizing figure in politics. She is pro-life, pro-guns, pro-war, pro-drilling, pro-creationsim, and pro-lobbyist. She has consistenly lied about her record as a "maverick" and "reformer", while the truth is she has asked for money in earmarks than any other governor in history! Rather than bring the country together, John McCain decided to pick someone who might ignite a culture war to help him get to 51% in a few battleground states so he might have a chance at winning the election. That was a purely political decision, it wasn't the best choice for the country, and it shows how McCain would make decisions as president.

Not to mention, McCain is a 72 year old man with a 1,500 page medical history. It is very possible that if he did win, Palin would become president! He met her ONCE and a had a 15 minute phone conversation with her before making this extremely important decision. That tells me one of three things about McCain - Either 1) he is insane, 2) he does whatever his lobbyists tell him, or 3) he just doesn't care enough about the country to make a better decision. Either way, he does not deserve to be the president.

So, for those reasons, and so many more, I completely support Senator Obama for president. I've been paying a lot of attention to politics and the news for many years. I understand the important issues and I know why experts say Obama has better solutions on EVERY problem facing our country. If more people would do their research on the candidates, they would agree that Obama is the best candidate to lead our country. Instead, people are busy with the problems of their own daily lives (many of which McCain helped to create) or they are easily distracted by the nonsense in the media. I'm hoping people will see the clear differences during the debates, and that Obama can help lead this country on the path where we belong, to a better and brighter future for all Americans!

The biases of CNN against Obama and subtle support for McCain

Unfortunately, because I am so interested in the Presidential election this year, but do not know any other media (I am not saying that they do not exist, I may not be "savy" enough to know how to get them) I am stuck with watching CNN. Campbell Brown (bless her. I love her now-a-days) in Election Center says "no bull" and Anderson Cooper in A360 says "we tell it like it is and leave you viewers to decide" but I believe overall that CNN has been very subtle in showing bais against Obama while supporting McCain.

By way of protesting and saying "enough is enough" and that we the viewers (or at least some of us) see right through the subtly. I know that CNN might accuse the Obama Campaign that this is an attempt to smear their effort. However, I would like to say that I am only using this Blog because I did not have the money to subscribe to my own domain name. For that matter, if I had my own domain name, it would have been www.thesubtlebiasesofcnnagainstobama.com (to be read as "the subtle biases of cnn against obama").

So here is how this would work. If you watch CNN on TV or read any bias report on Obama, I would want you to come to this Post and make a report on it in the following format. State the DATE of the report, the NAME of the anchor or reporter, the SOURCE of the bias (the TV program or online link) and the BIASED information.

To be fair to CNN, you are welcome to report any balanced report that you like too even though this Post is designed to expose the biases of CNN against Obama. As a check, you are welcome to refer to the transcripts posted by CNN or the online link of the biased report as a way to verify the report.

For the remaining 50 days of this election, you are encouraged to use the above domain name and invite me to make contributions to it. I am an Obama supporter for the following two reasons:

Anderson asked Candy if she thinks that both McCain and Obama are even with the level of lies that they have tolde (stretching the truth). I would say that Crowley who is supposed to report the truth as a reporter said that she was "not going to be the one to tell you whether it's equal or not". Fair enough. But her bias was revealed when she rather than at best remain neutral as she had purported to do, gave three examples of where she thinks Obama had strecthed the truth without, in the spirit of fairness, mentioning one single thing that McCain had strecthed. Luckily, thank God that Mr. Halperin was asked the same question and he was willing to tell the truth that we alll know.

Oh, by the way Crowley, as to your claim that Obama stretched the truth in misrepresenting McCain's "joke" that one has to have $5 million to qualify as being rich", was it Obama's fault that McCain quoted $5 million? Do you think that McCain actually had a lower figure in mind? You may claim that McCain was being politically savy by "making a joke out of a serious question that meant a lot to all middle-class Americans". But then, we the voters, who want an answer from McCain have no other choice but interpret McCain's answer in the same way that Obama did. Or Crowley, do you think we do not deserve an answer from McCain?

Before you read the following US Senate votes, in which McCain voted "NO" and Obama voted "YES", you should understand a few facts. Bills get signed into law by the President. Amendments are used to make changes to bills. They can be used to strike (remove things from), add, or modify a bill.

I only mention this because when McCain is questioned about his US Senate votes he often responds by saying, "The bill contained 'pork/earmarks' or tells the person asking the question that he doesn't know where he got that information from. Palin's Campaign for Special Needs Children is a Farce!

As the Mother of a special needs child, I am truly, sadly, shocked by the utter audacity and lack of knowledge Palin has shown to these very special people. The fact that they are waving a disabled flag next to their religious and warmongering flags makes me sick. How dare she? What does she even KNOW of raising a kid with disabilities? She's still in the 'baby fun' stage, and she hasn't seen nothing yet. The trials and tribulations she is bound to experience have only just begun.

What about all the discourse you must endure with the Special School District, to ensure your child gets the accommodations they need? Wonder what she'll think when they say, "Sorry, but we can't give him this or that, its just not in our budget", or better yet, "We've never even heard of that therapy". Bet she hasn't done that yet. Bet she hasn't wanted to scratch the eyes out of the playground bully AND his enabler mom, when the mother of the bully ALLOWS her child to taunt your disabled one. She hasn't felt her heart being ripped out of her chest, and the burning pain that accompanies it. What about the day you realize your child will ALWAYS need you, will ALWAYS be with you? I say, what does she know of it yet, besides the side ways stares and new news that her so-called baby is 'different', because really, that's all she has had a taste of.

If the McCain ticket takes the votes, who do you think will actually raise the baby if she's VP? Her? Not a chance. So she will never experience any of this, and I'm sure her money and special interests will help out. I'd like to see her walk the life of a single mom on very limited income while raising a disabled child. Than, have the government and state agencies turn her down for any welfare or social service assistance programs. Next, make sure she gets fired from her low-paying job because she's missed too much work, in order to care for her disabled child. After that, turn her down for unemployment, just for extra flavor. Then we'll see what credence she can gain. I walked that line for many years, and its not easy. What does she know of any of this? It's an outrage.

Wonder what she'll do when her child realizes one day he/she is different, and asks with tears in their eyes, WHY DID GOD MAKE ME THIS WAY, and how will she answer this child? I think all the parents and people who care for mentally and physically disabled people should form protest groups against her, seriously, if they haven't already. All these people are all clamoring for her like she's Wonder Woman, when all she is McSame's BAIT! I can hear McCain thinking...."Ok, let's see here... what do we have covered? Good 'ol boys war vote: check. Women's vote: check. Disabled people's vote: check. POW vote: check. Religious Fundamentalist's vote: check." Should I also add "Stupid peoples vote? CHECK.".

To someone like myself, this is very well a slap in the face. All of the things my family has had to endure, and she thinks she knows what we need? Again, this is insulting, not only to me, but to my special needs child. Obama is the person MY special needs child deserves. I can only hope that other caregivers can see through her farce, and will join me in peeling away the layers of this incredibly pompous, shallow woman.

Survey: Paid Sick Days Find Wide Range of Support

More than three-quarters of workers questioned in a national survey view paid sick days as a basic right of employment that should be guaranteed by the government, according to a survey recently conducted by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago and funded by the Public Welfare Foundation, Working Mother reports. In addition, the survey found that one out of six workers reported that they or a family member had been fired, threatened with being fired, suspended or punished for taking time off because of personal illness or to care for a sick child or relative.

Having paid sick days was considered "very important" by 77% of respondents, and 86% of those polled said employers should be required by law to provide them. Respondents also ranked paid sick days as being as important as receiving minimum wage, overtime pay, and family and medical leave. They also considered it more important than maximum hour limits and the right to join a union. According to the survey, 68% of workers without paid sick days go to work with the flu or some other contagious illness, compared with 53% of workers who receive paid sick days. Respondents said concern about sick employees spreading diseases at work is the most convincing argument for paid sick days legislation.

Strong support for paid sick days crosses all political and demographic lines and includes approval of pro-rated paid sick leave for part-time workers, according to the survey. It also found that people are considerably more likely to vote for a candidate who supports paid sick days for all workers. About 46% of respondents said they are more likely to vote for a candidate who supports paid sick days and 10% said they would be less likely to do so. Tom Smith, a senior fellow at NORC, said, "Supporting paid sick days is a plus for political candidates," adding, "Both before and after hearing arguments for and against paid sick days, voters indicate they are more likely to vote for a candidate who backed this requirement."

According to Working Mother, 40% of private sector workers and 75% of low-wage workers lack paid sick days. San Francisco and Washington, D.C., are the only jurisdictions that mandate paid sick days; however, a dozen states considered such legislation this year, and the issue will be on the ballot in Milwaukee and Ohio in November. Working Mother also reports that debate on the issue is expected to be taken up in more states next year, as well as by Congress when it considers the Healthy Families Act, which would provide seven paid sick days annually to workers in businesses with 15 or more employees.

Deborah Leff, president of the Public Welfare Foundation, said, "The lack of paid sick days has real consequences for Americans forced to choose between losing a day's pay or going to work sick," adding, "It's difficult for employees to be productive when they are not well. They also expose co-workers and customers to illness. Providing paid sick day -- which this survey shows is favored by the vast majority of Americans -- is a simple matter of good employer practice and good public health" (Working Mother, 9/3).

Why I Support Barak Obama

Last week I had the privilege of attending Barak Obama's historic acceptance of the Presidential Nomination at Invesco Field in Denver. On the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I have a Dream" speech it was hard not to be awed by how far we've come, and how far we still have to go.

Being there in person was like nothing I've ever experienced. As one in a crowd of 84,000, I was buoyed by the electricity, and inspired by the passion that seemed to spontaneously bubble up from those around me. People showed up on Thursday to bear witness to history and to be part of a change they believe in and feel is critical for our country.

Over the many months of this campaign I've become more and more convinced that Obama's vision for this country will help us rebuild a faltering economy, restore goodwill and good standing around the world, and perhaps most importantly, inspire a country to make the many small-scale local changes that, taken together, truly can change our country for the better.

This race has been historic on so many levels, and I watched with pride and admiration as Hillary proved, once and for all, that women can make a serious run at the presidency. She truly has changed the game going forward. And, when I look at the alternative presented to us in this race, I cringe to think how every issue Hillary and so many others have fought to safeguard would be undermined in a McCain/Palin administration:

Women's right to choose would be struck down by a Supreme Court filled with as many as three new justices during the next administration.
This almost entirely conservative court would define our country's stance on issues from gun control to stem cell research and interrogation of prisoners to domestic wiretapping for a generation.
Our nation's energy policy would take a giant leap backwards with the meager resources currently spent on renewable energy development being siphoned off to fund more off-shore oil drilling, often in currently protected areas; a move that would neither reduce gas prices nor our dependence on foreign oil.
On the foreign stage, we would be led by a man who's said he'd have no trouble keeping our troops in Iraq for 100 years.

Barak's commitment to safeguarding women's rights, fighting for equal pay for equal work, and investing heavily in energy solutions that will both reduce global warming and our reliance on middle eastern oil reassures and inspires me. And, I believe that he can both engage foreign leaders heart-to-heart in resolving the complicated diplomatic and political issues of our time, and go toe-to-toe with them when or if diplomacy fails.

I believe that Barak will take our country in the right direction, and inspire a new generation of social responsibility. I believe the alternative would be a disaster.

Words cannot express what happiness and relief I feel after watching the people in the crowds, of the Democratic Convention 08. The speeches were inspiring and make me once again, feel proud to be a US citizen. I think the reason the applause went on so long before each speech, was the audience felt total elation in their united purpose...and Mr Obama was dead on when he said "this isn't about me, it's about us"... I know the change is coming, I know Mr Obama is the CORRECT agent of that change...If God has a moment from His busy schedule to watch over us in this election, may He please make sure Mr Obama wins the election of 2008 by a margin of at least 10 perecnt so that we don't have to recount ballots...but we will if we have to.

Support Obama-Biden Ticket

Driving home last Friday night from a performance of Walking With Dinosaurs (no, I did not see John McCain live -- these were, like, T-Rexes), I heard that Joe Biden was to be Barack Obama's VP pick. It took me a short time of study to comprehend the choice. Now I am excited, enthusiastic and completely on board with this great new team.

As with virtually every decision he has made throughout the campaign, Barack Obama took many factors and opinions into consideration, took time, and has made a wise choice.

One comment about what Biden infamously said about Barack during the campaign, when he complimented him, calling him articulate and clean, I (who usually think the worst) always took this to mean not only intelligent, handsome, and "perfect" (as he said), but "clean" in a political sense, that Obama is bright and shiny, almost completely untarnished, unscathed and not corrupt.

Today is the first day of the Democratic convention and Barack Obama and Joe Biden recorded a short video about what's ahead.

Call To Action

As we are heading into the last three months of the Campaign with the DNC Convention around the corner, we need to make sure those we know (especially outside CA) are supporting Obama.

We need to hit hard that Obama will bring the change needed for this country. We need to let the country know that McCain is an extension of the Bush-Cheney Administration.

We need to reach out to the 48% Clinton Supporters who have yet to embraced Obama as the democratic nominee and let them know that they are being heard. We need to let them know that McCain will not look out for them like Obama would.

We need to cry out to those that are undecided and make them believe that change is possible with an Obama Administration. We need the Independents know that Obama is more in tune with them than Senator John McCain is.

We cannot let the McCain campaign set the message for the media. We need to reach out to the voters across the country and encourage them to support the Obama-Biden ticket. Lets get the change that our children deserve.

Lets commit to talking to our friends and family around us and across the nation. Encourage them to join the campaign. Invite your friends and family to the website and have them sign up. Encourage them to get their friends to sign up as well. Lets not rely on the media advertising to get our message to the American people. Lets take control of the message and get it out there. We can do it.

Why I support obama's '08 campaign
I, am a woman, an African-American, and a person of diverse genetic and cultural history.
I am also a Spirit, the Real Me, who lives in a body and has a Soul who greatly transcends the color of my skin or combination of genes or cultural history.
The Real Me has a voice that comes from within my very heart of hearts. It can not and will not remain silent, but will be raised to help bring the change that is needed in my community, in my country, and in this world.

My "Real Me" Voice was used in the Primary election to vote for Barack Obama, the first "viable" African-American presidential candidate in the USA who can act as a unifying, and not divisive, force. I understood then that this was a great historical act that I could not pass by.

I am a christian who believes in the importance of the Church and in the Holy Bible as God's Word and my Final Authority, my Standard. So, yes, the media drama and spun news regarding his affiliations and dis-affiliations made me doubt my decision to support Obama, initially.

BUT,
then I read an article written by Pat Buchanan entitled "A Brief for Whitey". Pat helped me to become more conscious (to wake up) and remember all of the important reasons why my "Real Me" Voice needs to keep speaking up in support of Barack Obama. Pat helped me to get past all of the smoke screens caused by the media spin distractions.

SO,
I am helping to be part of the solution for change by officially joining and supporting Barack Obama's campaign for the US Presidency. Here are my reasons:

*I am a mother of children that I want to be given opportunities to create new businesses and create new jobs for our community, instead of just being "given opportunities" to work in them. For my kids, and all kids, I want entrepreneurial training and apprenticeship opportunities, instead of just being considered as "fresh new college talent" to work as employees for the corporate executives downtown and then thrown to the side 30 years later when healthcare and pension costs increase. I want them to own and operate the major sports franchises, instead of just being scouted and recruited onto the teams to be thrown aside when they are injured or have lower performance.

*I am the friend of several very intelligent men, like Barack, but, unlike Barack, never received proper elementary education as children and have struggled to get ahead for their entire lives; this was as a result of being left behind the curve that their counterparts excelled around, as they lived in other neighborhoods that have historically had access to better public schools, and economic ability to attend private school, when integration became a threat to their families.

*I am a globally-minded person, and the world is fed-up with the superior stance of American government and diplomats. They have tolerated it for a while, but, as seen during the current Bush administration, will not tolerate it for much longer. America needs leadership that is willing to talk with world leaders and build positive relationships, instead of constantly being divisive and haughty. As evidenced by the move of American jobs overseas, and by the increasing gas costs, America needs to do things differently in regards to our international relations.

*I am a human-being, not a dog, and My "Real Me" Voice is what makes me truly equal with other human-beings. I do not want a government that supports the superior view of certain established segments of society and ignores the needs of the largest segment of society, which is still being falsely called "minorities". I should not have to be happy and content that another equal person was nice enough to let me have anything.

*I am an American, and Yes I Can, with my husband, create a viable, equal, independent, and self-sufficient future for my family, by using My "Real Me" Voice to vote for change in my American government. That is my Right, and I will not let any superior person cause me to sit down and shut up and do nothing.

I remember thinking "If there ever was an African American --I wasn't familliar with his background- who could win the presidency I'm looking at him." I couldn't be more pleased to support his candidacy.

Why is that? you might ask. To look at me: a white, middle-aged woman who's talked politcs frequently but never participated beyond the voting booth. It's simple:

He's tie first politician who ever asked me what I thought.
He's the first politician who ever asked me if I had any ideas about how to fix the mess we're in.
He's the first politician who said he'd work with our nation to fix the mess we're in.
He's the first politician in recent memorry who doesn't embarass our nation on the world stage.

I am sitting at the Honda service center in Venice Fl waiting for my car to be done with it's first service. I am not good at service issues when it comes to the mechanical things that support my life. Generally I wait until the last possible drop in the gas tank to fill up the car, wait until all the wheels of the dishawasher basket have fallen off and melted before replacing them and constantly forget to clean out the lint tray of the dryer. The result is that I often end up in a crisis and have to do all sorts of things to get the problem resolved in a hurry.

The same thing is happening with our country. We all see the changing weather patterns, the rise in gas prices, the rise in soldiers deployed to Iraq and yet some are watching the fuel gauge move toward the empty point and not doing anything about it. Some of us are getting into debates over whether or not the fuel gauge should look a certain way, some are complaining that the fuel guage isn't giving enough information, others that it offers too much. Some people are complaining that the fuel guage is on the same panel as the tire pressure gauge. Don't understand the analogy? Let me spell it out for you: Debating the way Obama looks, his family looks, his name sounds. Debating that you're not getting enough information, that you're getting too much, you don't like the format it comes in, complaining when Obama makes some concessions in order to achieve the better bigger picture.Complain, critisize and moan.

You may have already decided that I am not politically savy. I don't know all the ins and outs of the issues. I don't know all the political history and I'm not up with the polls but here's something I know I'm very good at. I know when people are allowing themselves to be sidetracked by BS. I know when people are allowing themselves to be pulled down by the mindless negativity of others and I know when people are working toward the common good by uplifting each other and cheering those who are working toward the goal.

Now is not the time to get into a frothy over for example, whether or not you got too many e-mails! We are trying to save this country and the planet from an environmental disaster, we are trying to save the lives of young men and women, 16 of whom died last week in a war we don't won't to be fighting. Who gives a hoot if you have to hit the delete button a few extra times. Does it really matter enough to be discouraging others who are working their butts off doing something to get Barak Obama into office.

The next time you want to moan about something or critisize anyone else ask yourself, "What am I doing to make Obama our next president? How would I like to be supported in this effort that I am making? What can I do to help?" Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is bite your tongue. Better yet why not give an encouraging shout out to those who are doing what they can.

This is our time to be proactive. We don't want to be standing by the side of the road because we didn't pay attention to the fuel gauge and now there's nothing left.

How Should Obama Fight Back Against a Bully?

School Yard axioms apply.

1. Don’t stoop to the bully’s level

2. Don’t let the bully hit you without defending yourself
3. Be smarter then the bully
4. Believe in yourself
5. We all know right doesn’t always win, but it can if you outsmart wrong
6. Call upon others to help
7. Make the bully the outcast
8. Be proactive and figure out how to stop the bully before they bully you

So if I was charged with applying the above schoolyard axioms to the political campaign here is what I would do (and not do). Following the above 8 points:

1 If you’re going to mock, it shouldn’t make you look bad. Senator Obama, you went too far when you quipped, “Is that the best you can do”? You were stooping, it made you look petty and that is not who you are, I’m confident of that.

2. When McCain attacks, you, your staff, your supporters (meaning us in a coordinated campaign) must be all over the news, the Internet, everywhere immediately with the most eloquent and effective retort, one that would stand up against any pundit’s analysis. A rebuttal that is infallible.
3. McCain is not anywhere near your intelligence. Use your sharp mind to rise above the attacks, to show the American public that they should not want a President who, when we have such serious issues in this world, acts like a child. How, when soldiers are dying, when our world is dying, when our economy is dying, can McCain be acting like a child taunting the smart kid in class?
4. I am sure you have lapses, sometimes believing what they say, that you’re not ready, but you are of course, more then most anyone ever has been.
5. Wrong, evil, can be so intelligent; you just need to outsmart them. Even within your own party, there are those trying to knock you down, which are despicable, but you are smarter then they are.
6. Your supporters are less energized; there are less of them doing less. We must get back to fighting back in unison. You are a great organizer. Organize us.
7. Turn the tables on McCain. Make his attacks seem, as they are, petty especially in light of the real problems, real Americans face. Make his attacks lower him to a level that make him seem unqualified for the job of President of the United States. Make the world see that a person who acts childish, a person who bullies is the last person in the world we need with their finger on the trigger of our very existence.
8. Pre-empt his attacks by calling upon this campaign to elevate itself to a new level, a level that does not force you to defend yourself against attacks, that does not force you to attack yourself, but to a level that is respectful to the American public. And pre-empt future attacks – they are not hard to figure out for you of course. They will tear you down for being popular, they will hint at your race, your difference (and defending yourself does not mean playing the race card – you are the victim), they will call you unprepared, young, elitist (all intelligent people are bullied by those less intelligent) and they will think of other ways to attack you which I’m sure you can figure out prior to the attack.

I truly believe that without you in office, and especially with Senator McCain in office, our world is in grave jeopardy.

Show the world how you can lead them to a new beginning. Be the charismatic man of hope, ideas, intelligence and mostly, the man of the people, all people, not above them, but with them, arm in arm.

You can help by sending the info along yourself. I joined several more groups and sent them all an email about buying bumper stickers. I bought 200 myself, half blue and half white, to be sent to the Columbus, Ohio office, because that’s where I found someone enthusiastic about getting them. Now we have to wait and see how long the store will take to deliver them – but the sooner you order, the sooner they’ll get there. As I put in the email message, seeing Obama bumper stickers makes arch-conservatives morose

This election has really felt exciting more than ever before. I really want this country to choose him for President. I think he will bring a new style to washington politics that we despertly need. For once a President that will represent all citizens of this country and use his powers to defend the citizens as well. Someone at the highest level speaking out for all of us. I've never felt like choosing a President could change things so much. I have watched the last eight years steer our nation a direction I don't like, changing it into a disliked international country by most of the world. With a administration that continues to not listen to what the people are saying and wanting but rather go it alone on things. The world is a community now so we need to treat all nations as neighbors. I think Barack can change that by working alongside nations on foreign affairs instead of going at that alone also.

One of the great things to me about Obama's campaign is that he listens to the people. He is not trying to talk down to citzens and try go through the hoops to make them feel like he is "on their level" and tell people what they want;instead he tries to raise everyone up by setting a goal and telling everyone we all need to work toward it. For some reason this system of truth has been lacking recently in politics to me only creating a divide which works against progress. This is a course part of the reason I support Mr.Obama.

I have looked around the main Barack Obama web site and looked over what his policies are but I have only today found the mypolicy section. The more I think about it the more I realize this is an important tool that we Obama supporters need to use. Here is a place that helps the Obama campaign know what problems people truely care about and helps to cultivate ideas on solve to them. Often people will put their faith in someone or something yet not work to support that same person. Along with volunteering and donations this is a way for us to help Obama on his journey as our president to utilse polices that work.

Mccain can't keep himself away from Obama

Lately I've noticed when I look at websites in support of Mccain, I've noticed that they have one thing in common: Barack Obama. That's right a lot of the sites I have looked at including Mccain's official site seem to have more to do about Obama than they do Mccain. Its even to the point where a picture of Obama graces the home site of the official Mccain website. Now my point in bringing up this issue is that when you look at Obama's sites they are for the most part about him and support of him, there are no slandering ads about Mccain to try and tear him down but it is all about Barack and trying to build him up. The point is that I think this shows the quality of Mccain as a candidate he has to focus on tearing down Obama when he should focus on building him self up.

Would an "Obese Cats for Obama" group spread out support too thin?

Well, I have some news that might be hard to swallow for all the obese cats & obese cat owners out there in Obama-land. The group "Obese Cats for Obama" was not approved. The sited reason was that there already was a group called "Cats for Obama." I personally feel like maybe the obese cats would like recognition as a distinct sub-group of "Cats for Obama." I dunno.

My obese cat, che, has been really down since finding out the news. All he has done for the last few days is eat, and lay around the house.

I'm not gonna whine about it, I will accept the decision and, eventually, join the "Cats for Obama" group.

The freedom welfare program

Over the past weekend, I found myself contemplating the greatly overused phrase, “freedom isn’t free.” While the use of that phrase is confined mostly to bumper stickers, often placed next to the yellow ribbon window decals which command other drivers to “support our troops,” the phrase can also be heard; either in the form of a song, like the Team America: World Police soundtrack, or in political debate, quite often used as the end all, supposedly decisive argument offered by those in favor of continued operations in Iraq. While the phrase is true, the currency of these “freedom payments” has never really been defined.

A phrase oft-uttered by a local conservative radio host here in Oregon is, “there are no free lunches.” That particular phrase is coincidently used quite often to describe income transfers, including the free school lunch programs. The talking head’s intended message is that any entitlement given to one citizen comes at the cost of another. While income transfers are generally frowned upon by those who fall to the right on the spectrum, I have yet to hear the same concept applied to our freedoms.

Freedom was probably our countries first entitlement program. The very best Americans: the smartest, the most physically fit, the bravest and those with the most promise, gave their time and in some cases their lives, so that we could all live free.

Freedom is not free. Most who oppose the war in Iraq understand that idea and greatly appreciate those Americans stepping up to foot the bill. I personally oppose the war on the principle that there are other available denominations of currency with which we can pay for freedom.

I acknowledge the fact that some external threats to our freedom can only be extinguished through an act of war, but it should be realized that in making such a choice we are asking some of our best citizens to carry the load for all of us, and to not fight for alternatives to war is in fact, accepting a free lunch.

I've been telling you all that I was going to post this essay for about a month now, but now I'm finally gonna do it. Here it is!

Why I Support Barack Obama

I have never really been into politics. I remember I supported Bush in the 2000 election because all my friends were (keep in mind I was 8 at the time). I remember that I supported Kerry in the 2004 election because I didn't like Bush. Other than those simplistic political thoughts, I had altogether distanced myself from politics because I felt that I didn't matter to politicians; I thought that since I couldn't vote, I wasn't an issue to them, so why should I support them?

That all changed in 2007. I remember it like it was yesterday. I had accidentally checked out the wrong book at the library, when I meant to check out a random sci-fi book, I somehow accidentally grabbed The Audacity of Hope. I had taken that book on vacation because I was determined to read it even though I didn't want to. I began to read it on a flight to Houston. It was amazing. With every page I read, I began to believe. Our plane landed in Houston and I was reading the book in the gate. I had just gotten through half of the book when I looked up, and on CNN there is a live feed from Springfield, Illinois. On the screen some guy named Barack Obama was announcing his bid for presidency. I began to ignore it until I closed my book, and saw that it was written by Barack Obama.

Ever since then I have been a staunch Obama supporter. I have learned his stances on all the key issues and learned that I agree with most of them. I have read all of his books. I became a supporter. I never campaigned for him though. I supported him, but I still felt that I couldn't do anything for him because I couldn't vote. Then I linked up with a Students for Obama group at my high school. I learned about grassroots organizing and how we could work together to make a difference in his campaign. I still wasn't sold on supporting a candidate though. But then I saw him speak. I went to the June 3rd Obama rally in St. Paul, where he clinched the nomination. His speech inspired me beyond belief. That did it. I saw that despite my non-voter status, I could make a difference. I could campaign for him. I could donate to the cause, I could phone bank, go door-to-door, make speeches to my fellow students, and volunteer. I have now signed up to volunteer relentlessly throughout the summer, both on my own and with the Students for Obama group. I am a member of Minnesotans for Obama. I wear Obama shirts and buttons every day. I spread the word. I see the good that Obama could do for the world, and I want to help get to that point.

I support Obama because he is the right and best candidate. His views on the issues are just like mine. That is important, but what is more important is the fact that I believe in him. I believe in his ability to change the politics of America to something better. I believe in his ability to improve America and improve our status in the world. I believe in his abilities to better America in general. And, most importantly, I trust him. That is something that no politician has ever gotten from me. Never have I trusted a politician, but I trust Obama.

If I can get at least one person to vote for Obama as opposed to John McCain (don't even get me started on McCain) or vote for Obama as opposed to not voting at all, that's my vote. If I can get a ton of people to vote for Obama, though, I know that I made a difference.

Everyone questions why I support Obama. They say things like, "He's insane," or, "You're white and Christian, how can you support a Black Muslim who wants to destroy America?" They tell me that Obama doesn't care about the young people because they can't vote. All I can say to them is that they are wrong. I tell them that they have been watching FOX News a little too much and that they don't know how to find reliable information on the internet. What's funny, though, is when people make these comments to me, if I begin to explain to them why I support Obama, they ignore me and walk away.

This campaign has changed my philosophy on many things and given me hope for America. I see pundits and McCain say that Obama is lying and giving people false hope, but we all know that, "In the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope." So when the going gets tough, when it looks like the GOP and McBush may prevail, remember that Obama is change we can believe in and that together, YES WE CAN!!

Time to move on

This week many supporters, (including myself) have seen Senator Obama have perceived shifts from some positions that we felt moved from left, to right of center. We have also expressed concerns that these perceived shifts may hurt his brand, and make it more difficult to bring in more of our friends from the Hillary camp over to our side. All legitimate concerns.

Holding the telecom companies accountable, Faith Based initiative expansion, and some other issues have left some of us ardent supporters scratching our heads wondering what Barack is doing. Senator Obama has always wanted to hear from the grass roots body on how we feel about certain issues, and I am here to tell you I believe the powers that be have heard us.

The business of politics is never black and white, there are always fine lines of grey. I am not making excuses for the senator, however I now understand where he is coming from and where he is going with all of this. Basically in terms of FISA, I believe and so does Senator Obama that the program is important, however there seems to be no accountability. Under an Obama administration there will be accountability and check and balance in the program. And frankly that is good enough for me. Oversight is paramount and I believe the senator believes this.

The Faith based initiative, is probably on the senators part more of a poor choice of words, rather than a bad idea. We hear some of these words and we have post traumatic stress disorder because of Bush's policies. Again, after reading some of the nuances of the senators position on this, I don't believe it will be anything like the corrupt bastardized version Bush has slammed down our throats. I am trying to keep an open mind on this one.

The sixteenth month withdrawal from Iraq still stands. I think most of us can see the media completely in love with McCain has turned this one into a fabricated story about the perception that Senator Obama flip flopped on this, when indeed he has not.

News cycles have a way of favoring one candidate over another. The candidate who sets the other on the defense is usually the victor that week. This week, unfortunately the victor seems to be McCain.

If our cause and candidate want to dominate the news cycle in a positive way, and keep the disorganized McCain camp on the defense, I believe it is time to really coalesce behind Senator Obama.

My advice to fellow Obama supporters: Yes, make it known when you disagree, then move on, and do it quickly. The media loves mutiny, and we can't give them that satisfaction. The other piece of advice I have is to keep our eye on the collective ball. Defeating McCain and Bush. We simply cannot afford four more years of Bush policies, period. Time to disband the FISA groups, and move on. It's one thing to disagree, it's another to hurt our campaign. We have worked too hard to self implode.

My advice to the Obama campaign: Keep McCain on the run, they are completely disorganized, capitalize more on that fact and get them to make speeches defending their indefensible views. Keep driving home the fact that McCain=Bush. I don't hear that enough...I want to hear more of it! Bush is so disliked as is evidence from his awful fourth of July speech. Capitalize on this!

Another Stollen Sign

I have seen 2 signs saying " Someone stole our Barack Obama Sign" signs. I found them sadly amusing, until my sign was stolen last night. The whole sign disappeared. Is this some silly teen age prank? Perhaps, but three over one route that covers 2 cities? Hmmm. Or could it be that support for Barack is so great, that people can't wait for the signs so they snarf other peoples? Or maybe the McCain faction is out in force with black helicopters chasing down Obama signs. All are interesting thoughts. What ever the cause, I am concerned as the show of support in my somewhat blue collar neighborhood is important. I donated today, and ordered not just one more sign, but five. Join me and donate, why not get a few yard signs too?

Dear Obama

My letter is because I am growing weary of watching videos of arrogant leaders sneering and jeering at us, the people. When I sleep I can see them on leather couches drinking bourbon and scotch toasting their financial achievements. Laughing at what they have gotten away with and what they will continue to get away with. They parade around as if violating our constitution was nothing, something they determined was necessary in a stressful time, so they will not be held accountable. Look into their eyes next time they are on the news. They really think that we cannot and will not do anything about this. I hope to change that look on their faces.
I urge Obama to pursue the prosecution of several members of the Administration, some senior members of Congress and certain talking heads in the press. Everyone of these people should be charged with lying to the American people and causing a war.
I remember the apologies, heartfelt, tearful and yet the war still goes on. They have all admitted we were duped, the wiretaps were unconstitutional, but nothing is happening! Prison sentences should be passed out, and The Death Penalty is even in order for a select few. These criminals need to start acting like criminals. They need to fear the arm of the law and the constitution they defecated on! Until that happens, until this nation proves no man, in no position can tread on her, then she is nothing. The world will see this, the people will see this and soon everything will crumble.
I humbly request you pursue this course of action or at least mention it in highly covered event, get the people stirring, get the news buzzing. You will find there is more support for this than you ever imagined.

A Plea for Civil Liberty

Mr. Obama -

First let me say that I believe you to be a capable, discerning individual. I am proud that the Democrats have such an outstanding person as our nominee.

Those representatives who voted for this bill, voted against the liberties granted me by the 4th Amendment. From Mr. Bush's Republicans, I expect no less. Which is why we, the people of the United States of America, elected a Democratic majority to counter the ills done by that man and his party. Since that time, though, the mandated party has done nothing but, again and again, capitulate on the very issues for which they were elected.

I cannot accept any more. Simply put, if this bill becomes law, the Democrats will have lost my support, my voice, and my vote. As the Presidental nominee, you are the de facto party leader. It is a burden, but one I believe you are more than capable of handling.

As you have before when dealing with complex issues, please take a firm and reasoned stand and explain to your fellow senators and the American people that passing a bill that makes it a crime to investigate the telecommunication industry's blatant violation of my civil liberties is a travesty that will not go unnoticed.

Mr. Obama, my support and respect is yours. I'm not asking for much. Keep your word. Safeguard the civil liberties granted us by the Constitution, and you won't lose them.

Revival

This past Saturday evening, a friend (Dr. Osimiri) hosted an "Evening to Discuss Obama" and I attended. One of the things I am noticing about this campaign is that I am beginning to feel like I am back 'in the days of old' when there was much excitement about politics and about possibilities. Yes, I'm talking about the 60's and 70's! But, you should have been at the gathering!

We met each other for the first time and we were delighted to do so -- all enthusiastic about Obama and excited to tell why.

In order to be revived, you had to have been alive in the first place. Many of us have been unconscious and some of us had even forgotten that we were ever alive. Some of us have been suppressed, oppressed, depressed to the point that we could feel no sunshine and hear no sound of our name being called to return to life. But this meeting helped me to do what Mr. Obama has asked "Believe!" that we, the people, are important and valuable -- endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights,

I was impressed that we all came out to this gathering, not really knowing who else was going to be there and not really concerned about that. Knowing the purpose of our coming together was what had motivated our taking our time, spending our money (on this high gas) and bringing our desire to work together for a common cause. I felt like those people must have felt during the early days of the republic who met in small groups and traveled for miles and set around fires with food and drink and discussed ways to esure progress in the life and for their children.

Humm...it felt good and I look forward to doing it again.

Mr Obama is expected to speak to Mr Clinton for the first time since he won the nomination in the next few days, but campaign insiders say that the former president's future campaign role is a "sticking point" in peace talks with Mrs Clinton's aides.

The Telegraph has learned that the former president's rage is still so great that even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.

A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could "kiss my ass" in return for his support.

A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr Obama can win the election.

Mr Clinton last week issued a tepid statement, through a spokesman, in which he said he "is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States ."

Mr Obama was more effusive at his unity event with Mrs Clinton on Friday, speaking fondly of the absent former president, who attended Nelson Mandela's birthday celebrations in London instead. The candidate told the crowd: "I know how much we need both Bill and Hillary Clinton as a party. They have done so much great work. We need them badly."
But his aides said he has so far concentrated on cementing relations with Mrs Clinton first. They say they are content to let relations with Mr Clinton thaw gradually.
It has long been known that Mr Clinton is angry at the way his own reputation was tarnished during the primary battle when several of his comments were interpreted as racist.
But his lingering fury has shocked his friends. The Democrat told the Telegraph: "He's been angry for a while. But everyone thought he would get over it. He hasn't. I've spoken to a couple of people who he's been in contact with and he is mad as hell.
"He's saying he's not going to reach out, that Obama has to come to him. One person told me that Bill said Obama would have to quote kiss my ass close quote, if he wants his support.
"You can't talk like that about Obama - he's the nominee of your party, not some house boy you can order around.
"Hillary's just getting on with it and so should Bill."
Another Democrat said that despite polls showing Mr Obama with a healthy lead over Republican John McCain, Mr Clinton doesn't think he can win.
The party strategist, who was allied to one of the early rivals to Mr Obama and the former First Lady, said Mr Clinton was "very unhopeful" about the nominee's prospects in November.
"Bill Clinton knows the party will unite behind Obama, but he is telling people he doesn't believe Obama can win round voting groups, especially working-class whites, in the swing states," the strategist said.
"He just doesn't think Obama will be able to connect with the voters he needs."
Joe Klein, the author of Primary Colours, a fictionalised account of Mr Clinton's 1992 election, who has known the former president for 20 years, said he also heard that he was "very, very bitter", from people who have spoken with him.
"It's time for him to get over it or go off and do his charitable work. He knows the rules of the road. What's going on now is kind of strange. I think his behaviour is really, really shocking."

The average Joe throwing 5, 10, 25 dollars to the DNC is multiplied and overshadows the reach of the Washington lobbyist. Pretty sweet.

NO Vice President Hillary!

While I think it is Great that Hillary has requested that her supporters now back Mr. Obama for President, I don't think Mr. Obama should be concerned with money spent by Hillary in her efforts to attain the seat of power.

Nor should her support in any way effect President Obama's consideration for her as a running mate. Hillary has already spent 8 years in the White House!

During this Presidential Campaign, I once wrote to Hillary's web site concerned with the rising cost of Healthcare, specifically the fact that many pharmacies are charging high prices, yet a search reveals those who can supply the same generic drugs for much less and that I thought drug prices should be regulated. The response I received was that I should contact my own senator because Hillary was busy fulfilling the needs of her own state.

We hope President Obama will choose a running mate more in tune with his own views. Someone who will help him bring about drastically needed changes.

Maybe I've been a bit misleading. At times I seem to hint that I might not exactly be an Obama supporter to the maximum. In truth, I do support Senator Obama. Anyone who I've met along my journey of supporting him knows that I do. However, an inquisitive mind is always the best to have.

With every issue that I've had, every problem I've found, I've found a large amount of support from other Obamanites, and a satiating answer from Mr. Obama's politics. He has found a way to answer the most pressing questions in America in a reasonable (Sorry, Mr. McCain, but I will not pay a dime of tax money to some nerd who can make a cool battery) and pleasing way that gives me and my peers hope.

Keywords in this campaign have been "change" and "hope". Mr. McCain claims he is a "change", but I ask you to question that stance. He has vowed to continue some of the current administration's policies, the policies that are failing, the policies that make no progress, the policies that are wasting tax dollars and plunging us further and further into a valley of debt that seems more and more like a hole each day. We, America, need the fleeting hope that possibly, someone out there has a smart mind, a clear mind that can see through political smokescreens and attack America's problems where they lay: the domestic policies.

As a high school senior, the most important issue to me is education. Everything in America is expensive, and college is becoming less and less attainable. I am one of the classic cases of the smart underachiever who dreams bigger than her GPA. I'm slightly ashamed, but not afraid, to claim a lowly 2.1 GPA, but a 31 ACT. I know I will not get any scholarships. I know I have to pay fully by myself. I am in the middle class (the few, the proud), and paying for college all by myself is out of the question. Senator Obama's plans for higher education delight me, and my checkbook. My parents can afford some college for me, but I don't want them to empty their bank accounts for me. I want to earn it. I'm hoping that with the Senator's plans, prices will go down, and college can become more attainable for me.

What about after college? We are going to have families, and we will have to work in the real world. I, personally, am grateful to have a candidate like Senator Obama running in this campaign, because when he is elected, I can feel proud again. I can feel proud to live in a country that does not discriminate against race; to live in a country run by a smart man that is truly a person. With Obama in office, he will return the government to it's rightful owners: "for the people, by the people". Senator Obama is one of us: a person. A real, flawed person who is not above his supporters.

I have no fear to grow old, to go out into the real world. With Obama as our leader, we will march out of an economic downturn, and we will not fight any more. I have the utmost confidence that if Obama is elected to be the president of these beautiful United States, we will move. We will move up, and we will prosper.

Now, a call to all my fellow students out there (holler!). As students, we need to be the biggest supporters of Senator Obama. This is our future that the government is taking away. They are taking away social security, and they are taking away our money. I've lost my optimistic hopes of living in a middle-class suburb with a decent home. I either need to be rich, or settle for struggling with finances for the rest of my life. I refuse. I refuse to let Senator McCain focus only on the adults. For too long, the future of our country has been shorthanded by rising college costs, by the failure of the No Child Left Behind Act, and by the cost of living. I was told in 2005, my freshman year of high school, that my children would be born into a lower standard of living than I was.

We must refuse. We must prove this statement, this fact to be incorrect. As students, we need to assemble and support the person who seems to be making the best effort to help us, the person who seems to recognize the best that we are the future, and that us "kids" are just as important as adults: Barack Obama (let's face it: Ron Paul isn't going to win). We have all heard about the activism of the 1960's, and how students rallied behind Bobby Kennedy and Gene McCarthy. We need to get off of our obese behinds, and reclaim our status as the future. We need to move. We need to be active. If we don't make an attempt for change, who will?

May the voice of France touch the heart of America! The French site www.pour-obama.fr has just put "Postcards from Europe" on their initiative page.

Knowing that Obama is so strongly supported by the people of France somehow moves me very deeply. Our friends in France saw the potential of our country when they gave to us the Statue of Liberty -- I suppose I perceive this as their seeing the potential of our country once again. The support of the French people is beautiful and moving. May they once again touch the heart of America.
