Stay Sharp!

Dear strugglers and wordspreaders,

It was a mighty moment, to finally see a true intellectual win a US election. Yes, Barack is a black dude, but how historical that truly is, we will see in the years to come. What I mean is, Miss Rice and Mr. Powell were black but I don't think that meant any change for the 'black man'. The question is, what can and will he do about injustice in and outside America? We have to realize the greatest help we can offer Barack is to be critical about his moves and keep him in touch with the vision of both plummers and professors, not just directors and advisors.

I too have been sparked by the past year. It was a dream come true. I don't think I ever watched that many YouTube movies on end. From Ohio to Denver to Chicago. It was an incredible show and I bought it. I still believe a lot of things can change for the better, but for some reason i feel unsettled by a few things...

First off, I'm a bit concerned the US impartial position in the war that has been raging between Israel and Palestine ever since WW2. This war is a very important one, because its symbolic outcome will affect public opinion hence safety and development worldwide.

As a 28 year old non-jewish non-islamic, non-israeli, non-palestian individual who reads a lot, I dare to summarize the situation bluntly: Israel was given to the jewish peoples, who had never had an official nation, but had originated from the region of which a huge part is now Israel, as had many other folks. These other folks had no say in the matter, they lost a lot of land in the process. Palestine regained existance as a much smaller nation than it used to be, and Israel still occupies a lot of territories (Gaza Strip, West Bank, etc.).

There is no question Israel can maintain this occupation with American aid only. It's military surpremacy in the region is keeping the nation intact and safe without having to discuss its legitamacy with its neighbours. The problem is that by keepin parts that will soon be impossible to democratically claim (simply because the number of palestians are outgrowing the number of israeli) Israel is on a road towards totalitarianism. Crazy as that may sound, it is undeniably true. Building walls doesn't help either.

It's understandable peoples are scared of terrorism but WAY more iraki's died for it that Americans and WAY more Palestinians died than Israeli during this ongoing conflict. We know who is militarily superior and we know terrorism is nothing you can wage war on. All you can do is prevent it from happening by giving no one a reason to resort to it. Which is exactly why it is so important that the most powerful nation in the world (if it isn't China already) paves a path to new balance and fairness amongst nations in conflict. If none are surpressed, terrorism will dissappear from the front pages.

Which brings me back to my point. Obama has not really elaborated on restoring global balance between people of different beliefs, yet he said a few flattering words at AIPAC (the Jewish lobby, let's be honest) and has made Rahm Immanuel (a proud Judaist) his Chief of Staff, whose father made a joke degrading Arabs in the Israeli media. Let me stress that I personally don't mind Judaism, nor would I care if Rahm Immanuel was a christian, muslim, buddhist or heathen as long as it wouldn't affect his political decisions. But this looks fishy. It might not turn out to be any sort of a problem, I'm not saying this is the end, but it seems at least a bit clumsy from a distance. Barack, if you're reading this: stay sharp, man! Don't give anyone the arguments to bring you down. We rocked the vote. Now we wanna see you rock the world.

The second thing I'm worried about is the silence after the storm. As I said earlier, I closely followed the entire campaign and I became a true supporter of Barack's message. Never happened to me before. Clinton was never impressive to me. Especially not his wife (although, again, great symbolic value). I think Barack has the skills and heart to be the best president the world has ever had. But in order to keep this dream alive, he must keep the information flowing.

Now that he himself is (going to be) where 'Washington' and 'the administration' was, he must keep the camera's rolling as much as he did during the campaign. He must visit cities, towns and villages like he did during the campaign. I recall Stevie Wonder's 'Big Brother'. And sincerely hope that the time of 'Big Brothers' is coming to an end. Don't tap my phone, just come talk to me. And not just "'round election time", like Stevie says:
---------

"Big Brother"

Your name is big brother
You say that you're watching me on the tele,
Seeing me go nowhere,
Your name is big brother,
You say that you're tired of me protesting,
Children dying everyday,
My name is nobody
But I can't wait to see your face inside my door

Your name is big brother
You say that you got me all in your notebook,
Writing it down everyday,
Your name is I'll see ya,
I'll change if you vote me in as the pres,
The President of your soul
I live in the ghetto,
You just come to visit me 'round election time

I live in the ghetto,
Someday I will move on my feet to the other side,
My name is secluded,
we live in a house the size of a matchbox,
Roaches live with us wall to wall,

You've killed all our leaders,
I don't even have to do nothin' to you
You'll cause your own country to fall

------
However, I want to state clearly that I still hope and I believe in innocence until guilt has been proven. Show us that it can be done, Barack. But we have a loooot of dark powers within peoples to fight against. And you might find them in the man next to you, or even inside yourself. So to you and all peoples I say: Many blessings, good health and prosperity, lots of creativity in shaping a whole new world.

Googlevideo "Zeitgeist" 1 and 2 and google the "Venus Project". You might disagree on many levels, but you'll agree on the bottomline. We need a new fundament. And in order to create that, we must STAY SHARP!

PAX
