COLD BLOOD (a/k/a "Who's affraid of Sarah :Palin?"

Who’s afraid of Sarah Palin? The current Representative for Pennsylvania’s Xth Congressional District might harbor somewhere in his heart, let’s say, trepidation. I never had a conversation with the man. Consequently, I have only the scantest clues for any appraisal of Mr Chris Carney’s character or his intellect.

Rather recently, his name was on the lips of certain talking heads, who either inhabit or infest this or that cable news channel. Allegedly, losing presidential candidate Arizona Senator John McCain engaged Chris in a phone conversation. During which, likely enough, the good senator asked the good representative to consider very recent political history.

Evidently, McCain’s carrying the Xth by a respectable six (6) percent prompted that overture. Again allegedly, he asked Chris for an unusual Christmas present. Metaphorically, would Chris play Santa by bolting the Democrat(ic) Party?

Writing strictly for myself, had I been in Democrat(ic) Representative Carney’s shoes, the recipient of McCain’s request, my blood would’ve run cold. And that would’ve been for several reasons. The label of “turncoat” would’ve been the least. Politics is an omelet … promises like eggs get broken.

There are the “teabaggers”, had I been the recipient of McCain’s request, I certainly would have taken into consideration. I’d be willing to lay odds. No more than three minutes after bolting, that factious swarm of Astroturf gorpes will come out of the woodwork. Bad enough, they contaminate the political scene. Even worse, they vote.

Who knows? Out of spite for, in her mind, McCain’s keeping her out of the White House, Sarah Palin might decide to ruin my hypothetical chances for election as a Republican. It’s a good bet Chris can recall what she did to a Republican candidate up in upstate New York.

Then there’s the Club for Growth. Maybe, they would take a shine to me, maybe not.

Recently, the Republican Party suffered a stinging defeat more at the hands of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid than President Obama’s. Well, as President John Fitzgerald Kennedy once said, “ Victory has a hundred fathers. Defeat is an orphan”. That is certainly true enough. He neglected to add, “ .. with lots of blame to go around”.

Ironically enough, Nevada Senator Reid had indispensable help from the Club for Growth. Thanks to their driving Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter out of the Republican Party, Reid got his notorious sixtieth (60th) vote.

… oh, yeah, there’s that fifty-ninth (59th), which came courtesy of then Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain. Just some of those resources he used to try wresting Pennsylvania from the grasp of then Illinois Senator Barack Hussain Obama junior could’ve been used in Minnesota. That way, stand-up comedian Al Franken could’ve easily been denied his victory over then incumbent Senator Coleman.

By the way, our President is technically a junior. His father’s full name was also Barack Hussain Obama.

For all those reasons and more, my blood would’ve run cold

Why Sarah? Why now?

Please someone explain to me how a celebrity (no longer a politician) such as Sarah Palin, who has repeatedly insulted our President, get permission to set foot on a military base?

In an hour, Ms. Palin will be pushing her new book at Ft.Bragg (thankfully without permission to speak). The Army did not invite this woman. The Army has it's own problems with the lack of mental health professionals, soldiers still returning home, barracks at Ft.Bragg that still need upgrading (as of last month, mold was inhabiting many of the living quarters in the old buildings where our soliders are housed), and highest suicide rate of any of the military branches.

Then on Dec.8th, Ms Palin will be doing the same type of tour at Ft.Hood. I can't think of a more selfish and self-promoting act than what she is doing, while the nation and the military still mourn the tragedy at Ft.Hood. Her goal is not to thank our troops for their service, but to push her book and her warped agenda.

Does anyone wonder: why she doesn't visit the Navy, the Air Force? Did her agent ask them and they refused? If ANYONE else in the U.S. came down on our president the way she has, they would NOT be allowed to set foot on any bases. Something smells rotten to me.

Alright let's stick together. We need to get over this quickly.

First, let me apologize for not writing sooner, as we all should. Yes my life has been very busy. The economy is picking up, and as a CPA consultant so has my work. The change has been very noticeable and profoundly encouraging. I know we're not out of the woods yet, but we seem to be heading in the right direction on the clear path we built out of this awful haze.

Secondly, I am very disappointed in Obama's apparent decision to concede the public option section of the health care plan. But I believe we've got to pick up the pieces quickly and realize that, since January 20th and before, this is the first time this administration has done anything I disagree with of significance. I'm sure President Obama is exhausted, and he's done amazing and superlative things to this point. I'm not ready to throw him under the bus because of this, and nor should anyone else in our camp, regardless of how strongly they feel about this event. He is our guy and our family. We should not simply forget how far we've come in just a few months, nor should we forget how much pressure and challenge Obama has had to endure to this point. The man is a study in seemingly superhuman endurance. We shouldn’t simply give up on him because he is a human being.

Another thing to consider is that to simply rail against the Obama administration now is to cause our own undoing. We need to take stock of what we have accomplished in this moment of frustration, because we will lose a lot of ground to break apart like a herd of cats. To do so emboldens the distortion makers and obstructionists. People like Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh. And like Dick Army.

Let's take a deep breath and catch our composure. Let's remember that we must stick together and stay together, even in tough times.

To President Obama, the only thing I would like to say, other than to express my continued support and respect, is that I believe it is better to go down fighting and lose the health care fight with dignity than to give in to the lying minority, even if they have touched a nerve in the general population. This time of emotionally charged criticism will pass, and when we are on the other side of these troubled economic times, people will see that we as Democrats are of integrity and strength. People respect that, even our detractors. That is what will carry us through 2010 and beyond as a governing majority. Please stay strong and resolute in your convictions and plans. I realize there is also the risk of becoming Bush/Chaney-like and completely disregarding new facts that come to light that indicate our direction is flat out wrong, but I strongly believe the decision to push to public option clause of the heath care plan overboard was premature.

Let's regroup and go forward as the team of which I have been so proud to be part. I know we can regain our momentum and strength of unity back again.

One minute he is a racist and hates White people next they think he is like Hitler, the man who killed millions so as to purify the White race. I think that these cries against President Barack Obama are larger than the people themselves.

We need to look inwardly when we find ourselves amused by such evils around us and wonder if these actions aren’t people being slaves to evil, if we aren’t acting through Satan’s will and at his beck and call.

The New York Times reported today that the White House is quietly conceding that they are losing control of the Health Care Reform debate. So......in response......? A march? Rapid Fire TV ads? Formal debates moderated by NPR, PBS, ABC, NBC? Nope....a website.........That's it....a website..

The WH released a myth busters website.......What Obama should do is concede he needs a little help from his friends.....Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Howard Dean, Mike Bloomberg, Warren Buffet and other Business Leaders and even the Kennedys to get the word out and deal with the fires.

Show Business For Ugly People

There is a famous comment that “Politics is show business for ugly people.” While politicians are not physically less attractive than the average middle-aged person, they do not usually have movie-star good looks.

Notable exceptions have been John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Sarah Palin. Reagan and Schwarzenegger have, indeed, been movie stars!

And Sarah Palin's beauty-contest good looks and charm have been great assets for her political career. During her farewell speech on July 26, 2009, I noticed her arm-waving gestures behind the speaker's podium; and that reminded me of another politician whose political career soared after taking lessons from a drama coach.

Sarah Palin has a bachelor's degree in Communications and early experience as a TV sportscaster. She will now host a radio show, but that is not the best medium for her. Sarah Palin is so pretty that she will be much more effective on TV. I doubt that MSNBC would hire her, but I would think that Fox News would love to have her!

Can Sarah Palin return to elected office? It is possible. She is only 45 years old, so she could still be a candidate for office during the next 20 years. She is extremely conservative, so she could be elected to the House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, or Governor of Alaska. If she ran for President or Vice President, she could possibly win the Republican nomination. Palin has proven to be great as a Republican fund-raiser. However, she has so little support among Democratic voters and independents that she would probably lose a general election. Many Democrats are hoping that Sarah Palin will be the Republican presidential candidate in 2012, because she will be easy to beat!
