H1B Visa Abuse

The H1B visa program is used by US companies to employ foreign nationals in specialty areas. Typical H1B occupations of include computer programming, architecture, engineers, doctors and so on. The key here is the US companies based in USA. However recent statistics shows that companies based in India who have outsource offices in USA are also the beneficiaries. According to data from the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration services in 2007 Infosys Technologies (INFY) and Wipro (WIT), both based in Bangalore, top the list of visa beneficiaries in 2007, with 4,559 and 2,567 approved visa petitions. Indian outsourcers accounted for nearly 80% of the visa petitions approved in 2007 for the top 10 participants in the program. Overall, six of the top 10 visa recipients in 2007 are based in India; two others among the top 10, Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTSH) and UST Global, are headquartered in the U.S. but have most of their operations in India. The numbers are almost the same for 2006. What is ironic and tragic that even though the H1B visa program is restricted to USA companies, any company with outsourced offices located in USA can also take that opportunity and apply for H1b visa petitions? Which is a gross violations and a big loophole in the system. What is essentially happening is, these big IT companies are also working as a manpower exporters from these countries and supplying low wages employees in the expense of unemployed Americans.

There are thousands of thousands of American’s on unemployed list who has more knowledge, education and experience than these H1B visa holders. There are ways these so called companies use to circumvent the US immigration H1B criteria’s. Such as:

1. The criteria for job descriptions are crafted in such a way that the American citizens are reluctant to apply for those positions. These people already have inside deals with other people with similar job descriptions and they only accept applications from these people.

2. Even when hired, American employees are harassed, put to junk positions and put on work that has no resemblance to their experiences and they are forced to resign without any cry.

3. In most cases, the H1-B program does not require that employers hire a U.S. worker who may want a particular job, and a U.S. worker can be displaced from a job in favor of a foreign worker, according to the Department of Labor. In fact, contrary to widely held belief, most employers using the H1-B program do not have to search at all for a U.S. worker willing to fill a job.

Inside the Obama White House with Brian Williams to air on NBC Special

NBC News has special access to the White House and has strategically placed dozens of camera crews all over the White House. This is all an attempt to get a closer look of the daily occurences of the Obama administration. I don’t ever recall any other White House administration that allowed this. Only Brian Williams and his crew gets to go in and see what all the fuss is about. There have been some controversy over the White House Reality Show. If you really think about it, who wants a camera in their face from 5 am in the morning until you are done for the day. I think its a publicity stunt to show that Obama is getting stuff done. His promises on transparency in government has been taken a little too far. We don’t want to see your acting skills in front of the camera. We want to know what you are doing and have a say in what decisions are to be made on the topic. That was one of the premises you ran your campaign on. No more 1500 page documents sent out and approved 3 hours before voting. Stuff like that. I don’t want to see a reality show about the White House morning briefs, and what they eat for breakfast. This is either a tribute to the first Black President of the United States, or the most boring news special ever made. It’s going to be the White House version of The Office. From what I know about the special, there are several aides on camera typing at their desks, answering phone calls and doing general office work. Then there are interviews with certain people that are going to make everything sound nice and cheery, but there won’t be any dry office humor. I say watch at your own risk. The darn thing is a waste of time, but if you don’t have anything to do, it airs June 2, and the 3rd.

First of all im a nieghbor, of the mother of Blair Holt.We grew up together in the same nieborhood. I am not a perfect person . No one is. BUTThier are too many of our children being killed by other children. Why does this happen? It happens because many of our children have been infuenced by a fad culture that has glorified and lagitimized a gang culture, which has had a very destructive effect on our niebohoods here in Chicago and many other places in the U.S. Do you know how hard it is for a child to go against a popular trend with most of thier peers. In order to survive most parents are at work.Even if they wanted to, they would have to risk thier jobs to stay at home or devote enough time and energy to offset the influence of popular culture.These trends are established and reinforced by companies who make a lot of money creating and selling the latest trend.The parents of these young kids who are in gangs, have missed the oportunity to stop thier children from growing up accepting a destructive trend that makes money for a few and leaves the victoms lifes in turmoil. with hate in thier hearts, and the lack of respect for anothers life. Parents are Too busy at work, in poverty, fathers not there, gangs took over, I did the best I could, can no longer be an excuse. Me, you, us, them, we,the parents are the only ones that can stop this circle of violence. Check your children when they are young and they wont grow up killing other children. Watch what they are being influenced by. Watch who they are being influenced by. Know who the friends are they hang with. use your influence, to influence thier friends and other children. Know what your child is up to and who they are hanging with when they are not at home Dont let children raise children. Work together as a group when they are young, sacrifice if you have too, because the next child that is killed might be your own,killed by your nieghbors child. Or youll be explaining why your child killed someone else.Stop depending on the police or govt. to do our jobs after the fact.We as parents are always responsible for how our children turn out.

Diet Don't: Popcorn’s deadly butter-vapor diacetyl

A decade after safety concerns were first raised by experts, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) conducted public hearings on Diacetyl – a chemical widely used to flavor microwave popcorn. The public comment period ended on April 21st.

Recent studies show laboratory mice made to inhale diacetyl vapors for just three months developed lymphocytic bronchiolitis.

Popcorn producers are not required to label Diacetyl separately, and may list it under a general heading on labels as a flavoring ingredient.

Project on Scientific Knowledge and Public Policy Director David Michaels says: “This is an example of a potentially toxic substance receiving GRAS (generally recognized as safe) designation without undergoing adequate testing. It’s also an example of how our key public health agencies rely on chemical manufacturers themselves to provide critical health effects data. Whether food additives, pesticides, or industrial chemicals, the public's health and safety should not rely solely on industry affirmations.”

OSHA Closes Hearing For Diacetyl Rulemaking
OSHA intends the term ``diacetyl and food flavorings containing diacetyl'' to encompass other constituents of food flavorings containing diacetyl. In addition to information on diacetyl, OSHA seeks information on acetoin, acetaldehyde, acetic acid, furfural, and other compounds present in food flavorings that may cause or contribute to flavoring-related lung disease. OSHA is also interested in and seeks information about diacetyl present in substances other than food flavorings (e.g., naturally occurring diacetyl or diacetyl in fragrances) as well as substitutes used in place of diacetyl (e.g., diacetyl trimer). The information received in response to this document will assist the Agency in developing a proposed standard addressing occupational exposure to diacetyl and food flavorings containing diacetyl. Despite lawsuit verdicts in the millions, finding in favor of microwave popcorn factory workers and against Diacetyl, neither the Food and Drug Administration nor the Consumer Product Safety Commission have investigated.

In 2000, OSHA conducted several studies that confirmed the link between occupational exposure the artificial butter flavoring Diacetyl and lung diseases.

In 2003, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Diacetyl investigation findings were distributed privately to the popcorn industry.

In 2006, two labor unions petitioned the OSHA to issue an emergency temporary standard on Diacetyl to protect workers in the food and flavorings industries. More than 42 scientists and public health experts signed a letter supporting the petition.

In 2007, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA), Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee, and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WT) Chair HELP Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety, wrote to FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach, and CDC Director Julie Gerberding. They also wrote to Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA Edwin G. Foulke, asking for an Emergency Temporary Standard to protect workers from Diacetyl – an action supported by unions and manufacturers. No action has been taken.

In 2008, by a vote of 260 to 154, the US House of Representatives has passed H.R. 2693, the Popcorn Workers Lung Disease Prevention Act. The vote demonstrates the widespread recognition that OSHA failed to protect workers and Congress needed to act. To date, the Senate has not acted.

California

In 2008, our State Senate passed SB 456: Diacetyl Toxic Substance Ban, a bill that bans diacetyl, a vapor used in the production of microwave popcorn, pancake syrup, cakes, candies, frozen foods, and other products that has been associated to lung illness. The bill currently sits in the Health Committee.

Similarly, scientists and consumer groups point to a much larger health problem posed by unlabeled genetically modified organisms, also permitted by the FDA to enter the food supply under the GRAS designation several years ago.

Antasari Azhar pernah berkunjung ke MARKAS SLANK tanggal 16 April 2008 dan ketika berada di GANG POTLOT itu mantan Direktur Penuntutan Pada Jampidum Kejaksaan Agung ini menyanyikan lagu JUWITA MALAM.

Jadi kalau METRO TV memasang lagu TOO MUCH LOVE WILL KILL YOU untuk menjadi backsound berita tentang penahanan Antasari Azhar pada Senin malam ini, KATAKAMI.COM lebih memilih memuat lirik lagu JUWITA MALAM. Intinya sama, sambil menyajikan berita-berita aktual maka ada baiknya diselingi dengan senandung-senandung yang menghibur. Tak ada maksud buruk dari MEDIA MASSA jika melakukan improvisasi.

Bicara tentang lagu JUWITA MALAM, saat menyanyikan lagu itu di GANG POTLOT di tahun 2008 lalu Antasari mengenakan JAKET KULIT HITAM. Ganteng habis ! Iya dong, pejabat tinggi negara yang biasa berjas, tiba-tiba berpenampilan yang “lain dari biasanya” yaitu mengenakan jaket kulit. Terbayang kalau misalnya suara berat Antasari menyanyikan lagu JUWITA MALAM itu, disenandungkan didepan RANI JULIANTI yang patut dapat diduga sengaja menghilangkan diri untuk lari dari kejaran hukum. Wah, bisa-bisa melambung tinggi khayalan saat mendengarkan lagu JUWITA MALAM dengan penuh perasaan.

Mengapa kami membawa-bawa nama RANI JULIANTI ? Ya, karena patut dapat diduga perempuan muda berusia 22 tahun inilah yang menjadi pemicu perseteruan antara Antasari Azhar dengan Nasrudin Zulkarnaen.

Setelah situasinya “GELAP GULITA” selama 1,5 bulan pasca pembunuhan terhadap Nasrudin Zulkarnaen, akhirnya kasus pembunuhan yang sangat sadis, brutal dan tidak manusiawi ini meledak di permukaan.

Semua perkembangan memang bagaikan panggung sandiwara. Masih kental dalam ingatan kita saat Antasari menggelar jumpa pers di kediamannya hari Minggu (3/5/2009) kemarin. Sungguh sangat romantis saat bibir yang diselimuti KUMIS TEBAL itu menciumi sang isteri di hadapan wartawan yang hadir. Dan Senin (4/5/2009) ini, panggung sandiwara itu menyajikan babak berikutnya yang lebih mencengangkan.

ANTASARI AZAHAR dijebloskan ke dalam PENJARA yaitu di RUTAN POLDA METRO JAYA. Habis sudah semua hiruk pikuk yang berisi bantahan dan pembelaan diri dari pihak Antasari Azhar. Dampak politis yang terberat dari penahanan Antasari Azhar ini ada di pundak PRESIDEN SUSILO BAMBANG YUDHOYONO.

Betul bahwa proses hukum sedang berjalan dan ada azas praduga tidak bersalah yang harus dihormati (presumption of innocent). Tetapi, secara moral penetapan status tersangka dan penahanan Antasari Azhar ini sudah mencoreng muka PEMERINTAHAN SBY.

Inilah potret PEMERINTAHAN INDONESIA dibawah kepemimpinan SUSILO BAMBANG YUDHOYONO.

Inilah yang patut dipertimbangkan oleh SBY saat dengan penuh antusias memasang poin keberhasilan pemberantasan korupsi dalam iklan-iklan politiknya.

Walau Antasari tidak terperosok dalam kasus korupsi tetapi kasus hukum yang kini menyeret nama Antasari Azhar adalah kasus yang jauh lebih memalukan yaitu patut dapat diduga Antasari adalah dalang pembunuhan terhadap Nasrudin Zulkarnaen karena CINTA SEGITIGA.

Betapa malunya kalau misalnya kita yang jadi PRESIDEN SBY. Sudah tak bisa untuk pura-pura tenang dan berwibawa. Tragedi hukum yang menyeret nama Antasari Azhar pada kasus pembunuhan ini, sudah langsung merobohkan dan melenyapkan kepercayaan rakyat Indonesia kepada PRESIDEN SBY, demikian yang diungkapkan ADHIE MASSARDI, Jurubicara dari Kelompok Bangkit Indonesia.

“Betul bahwa ada asas praduga tidak bersalah, itu harus kita hormati. Tetapi secara moral, dengan penetapan status tersangka dan penahanan Antasari maka tanggung-jawab moral yang sepenuhnya ada pada SBY. Kasus Antasari ini sudah menghancurkan sisa-sisa kepercayaan rakyat Indonesia. Apalagi yang mau dikatakan sekarang ? Apa masih mau didiamkan ? Copot dong Antasari, tidak bisa dibiarkan mengambang begini. Proses hukum memang harus berjalan tetapi jabatan Antasari sebagai Ketua KPK harus segera dicopot. Jadi kalau sekedar non aktif saja, percuma” kata Adhie Massardi lewat wawancara khusus dengan KATAKAMI.COM di Jakarta, Senin (4/5/2009).

Dan menurut mantan jurubicara kepresidenan era Presiden Gus Dur ini, ada satu lagi pejabat yang harus dicopot oleh PRESIDEN SBY.

“Selain Antasari, SBY juga harus segera mencopot KAPOLRI Jenderal Bambang Hendarso Danuri sebagai wujud dari pertanggung-jawaban moral. Coba lihat permasalahannya, ada kasus pembunuhan yang sangat sadis di republik ini menyeret Pejabat Tinggi Negara yang lembaganya merupakan bagian tak terpisahkan dari Pemerintahan SBY. Dan hebatnya lagi, kasus pembunuhan itu dilakukan oleh POLISI ! Dimana tanggung-jawab BHD sebagai Kapolri ? Ini aib bagi Pemerintahan SBY, apakah Capres Partai Demokrat ini akan tetap mempertahankan 2 Pejabat Tinggi Negara yang kini dianggap bermasalah oleh rakyat Indonesia ? tanya Adhie Massardi.

Adhie Massardi menambahkan bahwa keterlibatan anggota POLRI sebagai eksekutor yang melakukan pembunuhan terhadap Nasrudin Zulkarnaen adalah contoh konkrit kegagalan BHD sebagai Kapolri.

“Memalukan sekali, ada dalam kepemimpinan BHD di dalam struktur organisasi POLRI, bisa terjadi tragedi pembunuhan yang sangat sadis, brutal dan tidak manusiawi. Sadari bahwa keterlibatan anggota POLRI dalam kasus pembunuhan ini wajin dipertanggung-jawabkan oleh KAPOLRI BHD. Dan pertanggung-jawaban itu harus dikendalikan langsung oleh SBY dengan cara mencopot Jenderal Bambang Hendarso Danuri. Sudah tidak ada alasan untuk berkelit. Kalau memang di Indonesia ini belum ada budaya bagi para pejabat untuk mundur secara kesatria kalau ada kesalahan fatal yang dilakukan dirinya atau lembaganya, maka Presiden yang harus pro aktif. Copot Kapolri !” pungkas Adhie Massardi.

Seluruh dunia tersentak atas kasus pembunuhan ini.

Era yang sangat canggih seperti ini, masih bisa terjadi tragedi pembunuhan ala mafioso yang bengis. Makelar pembunuhan yang menjadi fasilitator kebiadaban ini, patut dapat diduga sudah merancang segala sesuatunya agar PIHAK lain dalam struktur organisasi POLRI yang terkena getahnya.

Bayangkan, sampai senjata api yang mau digunakan untuk membunuhpun, sudah diatur agar dibeli saja dari anggota TNI Angkatan Laut yang sudah disersi.

POLRI yang harusnya menjadi pengayom, pelindung dan pelayan masyarakat, justru ada oknumnya yang menjadi PEMBUNUH bagi rakyatnya sendiri. POLRI yang benar-benar sangat dicintai dan dibanggakan oleh rakyat Indonesia, ternyata ada oknumnya yang menjadi PEMBUNUH bagi rakyatnya sendiri.

Tapi lepas dari permasalahan ini, fakta riil yang harus diacungi jempol adalah KINERJA POLDA METRO JAYA dibawah kepemimpinan Irjen Polisi Wahyono.

Siap, ini kerja yang membanggakan Jenderal ! Selamat.

Tidak gampang untuk menangani situasi yang pelik seperti ini. Bayangkan, POLDA METRO JAYA harus berhadap-hadapan dengan seorang Pejabat Tinggi Negara yang sedang aktif di puncak kekuasaannya karena patut dapat diduga tersandung dalam kasus hukum berbau anyir pembunuhan.

Jempol kami acungkan untuk Jajaran Penyidik Reserse di Direktorat Kriminal Umum dibawah pimpinan Kombes Mochamad Iriawan (IWAN).

Hampir saja, proses pemeriksaan ini terancam kacau balau karena patut dapat diduga Pihak KEJAKSAAN AGUNG sudah kebelet untuk memuntahkan dendam mereka kepada Antasari. Sehingga, keputusan pencekalan sudah diumumkan kepada masyarakat. Padahal POLDA METRO JAYA mengirimkan surat panggilan untuk Antasari sebagai SAKSI.

Sabar dong sedikit. Anda kan juga aparat penegak hukum. Masak anda tidak memperhitungkan bahwa pengumuman tentang pencekalan itu akan menjadi kontradiksi dengan tugas yang dijalankan Pihak Kepolisian.

Patut dapat diduga bahwa seorang jurubicara tidak akan pernah “bunyi”, kalau tidak ada perintah dari JAKSA AGUNG.

Kan bisa jadi berantakan semuanya kalau misalnya ada seseorang yang sudah pasti akan dijadikan tersangka, justru melarikan diri karena patut dapat diduga ia takut menghadapi kenyataan.

HENDARMAN SUPANDJI harus sadar dong bahwa yang dihadapi dan ditangani oleh POLDA METRO JAYA dalam kasus ini, bukan warga negara kelas dua atau barang rongsokan yang tidak ada harganya.

Bagaimana kabarnya kasus JAKSA ESTHER yang patut dapat diduga menjadi TUKANG TILEP narkoba ?

Bagaimana kabarnya jaksa-jaksa penuntut umum yang menangani kasus narkoba Taman Anggrek yang melibatkan sindikat Liem Piek Kiong alias Monas karena patut dapat diduga JAKSA sudah kongkalikong untuk tutup mulut ketika MONAS tidak dilimpahkan berkas perkaranya oleh Pihak BARESKRIM POLRI kepada Pihak KEJAKSAAN.

Kejaksaan Agung harus banyak introspeksi diri karena patut dapat diduga dalam kurun waktu 2 tahun kepemimpinan HENDARMAN SUPANDJI, nama baik dan citra KEJAKSAAN AGUNG justru menjadi hancur berantakan dan bau busuk akibat banyaknya kasus-kasus yang memalukan.

Dan kembali pada permasalahan penetapan status tersangka dan penahanan Antasari Azhar di Rutan Polda Metro Jaya, semua pihak menunggu hasil pemeriksaan pihak KEPOLISIAN.

Katakan yang bersalah itu memang bersalah !

Siapapun, bahkan jika patut dapat diduga ada oknum POLRI berpangkat KOMISARIS JENDERAL yang dimungkinkan menjadi MAKELAR PEMBUNUHAN ini. Mau sehebat apapun direkayasa agar pihak lain dalam internal POLRI yang terkena dampaknya, POLDA METRO JAYA jangan pernah ragu untuk menangkap yang pangkatnya sudah “diatas”.

Tangkap saja sebab pembunuhani ni sudah benar-benar diluar batas kemanusiaan. Benar-benar biadab. Patut dapat diduga, yang bersangkutan ini akan jadi ketagihan membunuhi orang atau melologkan bandar narkoba agar lolos dari jerat hukum ini, akan ketagihan dan semakin merajalela dengan bisnis menghabisi nyawa orang.

Tidak tahu malu !

Kalau manusia semacam ini memang tidak punya malu maka BANGSA, NEGARA & RAKYAT INDONESIA yang malu, punya seorang aparat POLISI berpangkat tinggi yang patut dapat diduga cari makan lewat uang kotor dan haram. Kalau patut dapat diduga, bakat utamanya adalah sebagai PEMBUNUH, maka jangan bersandiwara dan bersembunyi dibalik seragam polisi.

Brengsek, bikin malu Indonesia saja.

Irjen Wahyono dan bawahannya yang sedang menangani kasus pembunuhan Nasrudin Zulkarnaen ini, juga harus segera mencari dan menangkap bekas caddy bernama RANI JULIANTI itu. Tidak ada yang boleh lepas dalam situasi yang sangat blunder seperti ini.

Kita harus ingat beberapa tahun silam, seorang Menteri dibacok kepalanya dan akhirnya meninggal dunia setelah menderita sakit bertahun-tahun. Ternyata yang ada dibalik kejahatan brutal itu adalah isteri mudanya.

Tangkap Rani Julianti. Dan tangkap, oknum Perwira Tinggi POLRI yang patut dapat diduga menjadi MAKELAR PEMBUNUHAN yang sadis, brutal dan tidak manusiawi ini. Heran, kok tidak tahu diri. Bisa-bisanya melemparkan kesalahan kepada perwira menengah dan kepada Divisi lain agar orang lain yang terkena dampaknya.

Pengecut sekali. Banci saja, tidak akan pernah sepengecut ini. Sudah membunuh orang, sekarang mau enak-enakan cari selamat.

Hoi, keluar dong. Akui kesalahan ! Patut dapat diduga dari usaha sampingan sebagai BEKING BANDAR NARKOBA, sekarang patut dapat diduga menjadi MAKELAR PEMBUNUHAN.

Sadis ! Dan karena ketakutan jika kebusukan ini tercium lewat tulisan-tulisan KATAKAMI maka patut dapat diduga PERWIRA TINGGI yang liar ini terus berusaha merusak dan melakukan sabotase pada KATAKAMI.COM. Dan untuk menutup tulisan ini, diharapkan Jajaran Polda Metro Jaya tetap mengembangkan pemeriksaan pada proses penyidikan ini. Termasuk mencermati apakah patut dapat diduga ada keterlibatan KOMISARIS JENDERAL GORIES MERE dan kelompoknya.

Mohon maaf, kami tidak bermaksud memfitnah siapapun tetapi terus terang saja didalam struktur organisasi POLRI yang mempunyai kemampuan tinggi adalah GORIES MERE karena ia dan kelompoknya sudah sangat dilatih untuk sempurna ilmu serta kemampuannya dalam menangani terorisme. Tak cuma kemampuan dalam bidang IT, tetapi dalam hal tembak-menembak.

Patut dapat diduga, rekam jejak yang bersangkutan juga tidak sempurna dalam menapaki kariernya sebagai POLISI karena tercatat berulang kali terkait dalam pelanggaran hukum menyangkut penanganan narkoba. Tapi tidak ada satupun yang diproses secara hukum.

Misalnya, patut dapat diduga terlibat dalam kasus pencurian barang bukti sabu-sabu 13 kg beberapa tahun lalu dan meloloskan sebanyak 3 kali berturut-turut atas bandar narkoba Liem Piek Kiong (MONAS). Patut dapat diduga, GORIES MERE terlibat juga dalam pembunuhan misterius secara sadis terhadap bandar narkoba HANS PHILIP dan salah seorang beking HANS PHILIP dari unsur KEPOLISIAN yaitu Sugeng Basuki justru bisa menjadi PENYIDIK Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) pada bulan Februari 2008. Padahal Sugeng Basuki sudah pernah ditahan dan diancam dipecat dari POLRI karena memang terbukti menjadi beking bandar narkoba HANS PHILIP.

Patut dapat diduga, keberadaan Sugeng Basuki menjadi Penyidik KPK bisa menjadi entry point atau jalan masuk untuk menyingkap sindikat narkoba atau perjudian yang melingkari Antasari Azhar. Bayangkan, bagaimana mungkin seorang POLISI yang sudah nyata-nyata ditemukan berbagai indikasi pelanggarannya sebagai beking (yang ditempatkan "beking utama yang sebenarnya") untuk melindungi Hans Philip, bisa menjadi Penyidik KPK.

Ketika KAPOLRI dijabat oleh Jenderal Dai Bachtiar, Sugeng Basuki sudah dipastikan akan segera dipecat karena senjata api yang diberikan INSTITUSI POLRI kepada Sugeng Basuki justru diberikan kepada Hans Philip. Tetapi pada akhirnya, Hans Philip mati secara sangat misterius yaitu patut dapat diduga ditembak di bagian kepala oleh Gories Mere dan kelompoknya di daerah Bogor. Badan Intelijen Negara (BIN) mengetahui kabar bahwa patut dapat diduga Sindikat Gories Mere terkait dalam "kematian misterius" bandar narkoba Hans Philip di daerah Bogor. Jika memang ada penegakan hukum di Indonesia, mengapa patut adfa tindakan PEMBUNUHAN terhadap bandar narkoba hans Philip ? Ada apa sehingga seorang bandar langsung dibinasakan dan dilenyapkan dari muka bumi ini dengan cara yang sangat sadis ? Dan patut dapat diduga, Kapolri yang saat itu menjabat (Jenderal Dai Bachtiar) tak berani menindak Gories Mere sehingga yang terkena dampaknya adalah kroco-kroco tingkat bawah dalam sindikat Gories Mere.

Patut dapat diduga, ada seorang POLISI di tingkat bawah sudah lebih dari 5 tahun mengalami depresi berat dan sangat terpukul karena ia sengaja dikorbankan oleh Gories Mere dalam kasus narkoba. Akibat kalah pangkat maka si POLISI yang satu ini yang dengan mudah dipermainkan. Dan sampai sekarang, POLISI yang sangat malang terzolimi secara tidak manusiawi ini masih tetap ada di Mabes POLRI dan tetap mendekatkan diri dalam ajaran agama (Islam).

Patut dapat diduga, Gories Mere adalah orang yang harus bertanggung-jawab ketika terbongkar dan ketahuan ada sejumlah alat penyadap yang dipasang secara liar di kediaman dinas KAPOLRI. Dan ketika hal itu terbongkar, patut dapat diduga Gories Mere menyangkal keras perbuatan yang sangat lancang kurang ajar itu.

Patut dapat diduga, ada teror dan intimidasi yang sangat berlebihan kepada sejumlah JURNALIS yang mencoba membuka berbagai pelanggaran hukum yang dilakukan Gories Mere sejak beberapa tahun terakhir ini yaitu dari mulai pengrusakan sepeda motor, pengrusakan SITUS KATAKAMI dan rangkaian teror lainnya yang dialami sejumlah JURNALIS.

Patut dapat diduga, Gories Mere terlibat dalam sebuah kasus kematian "seseorang" yaitu saat Gories Mere dengan sengaja memerintahkan kepada seorang PENYIDIK POLRI agar mau menuliskan dalam hasil tugasnya bahwa mayat tang terbujur kaku di Anyer belasan tahun lalu adalah memang seorang Direktur Bank yang terlibat dalam kasus ekonomi. Sementara Penyidik itu samasekali belum melakukan pemeriksaan sesuai ketentuan hukum, apakah benar mayat itu adalah mayat dari Direktur Bank yang dimaksud. Patut dapat diduga, Penyidik POLRI itu sempat mau "diberi pelajaran" oleh Gories Mere tetapi ada pihak-pihak lain di POLRI yang tahu bahwa Penyidik itu tidak bersalah (dan justru Penyidik inilah yang benar), langsung mengamankan si Penyidik tadi dan sampai sekarang masih tetap aktif bertugas di POLRI.

Patut dapat diduga, seorang Perwira Menengah yang berada didalam lingkaran (ring satu) Gories Mere pernah melakukan penyekapan terhadap seseorang agar mengakui hal-hal tertentu dalam kasus illegal logging. Patut dapat diduga, Perwira Menengah ini jugalah yang berada dibalik pembuatan situs rekayasa dari negara Kanada tahun lalu yaitu situs yang memuat surat wasiat Amrozi cs. Bayangkan juga, Amrozi cs yang saat itu tinggal menunggu hari kematiannya di LP Batu Nusa Kambangan difitnah memuat surat wasiatnya lewat sebuah situs. Kabarnya, Perwira Menengah POLRI yang "sok jago" itu berbulan-bulan bolog dari pekerjaannya di BARESKRIM POLRI, tanpa ada keterangan resmi apapun.

Patut dapat diduga, Gories Mere adalah agen asing yaitu menyuplai rahasia negara dalam penanganan terorisme. Salah satu contoh yaitu patut dapat diduga, sebelum penangkapan terhadap Zarkasih dan Abu Dujana tanggal 9 Juni 2007, Gories Mere mengundang sejumlah polisi dari negara tertentu untuk intes bertemu di sebuah hotel mewah di kawasan Kuningan Jakarta Selatan. Dan setelah Zarkasih dan Abu Dujana tertangkap, patut dapat diduga Pemimpin Dunia yang pertama dihubungi Gories Mere untuk dilapori bahwa ada penangkapan terhadap teroris adalah Perdana Menteri Australia. Presiden SBY dianggap angin lalu karena baru dilapori tentang penangkapan itu pada kesempatan yang berikutnya. Itu sebabnya, tahun 2007 itu Istana Kepresidenan tidak mengeluarkan pernyataan resmi sebagai tanda ucapan selamat atas penangkapan tersebut karena ada ketersinggungan yang sangat prinsip mengenai ulah Gories Mere yang patut dapat diduga memang dikenal sangat liar ini.

Kami tidak sembarang bicara tetapi patut dapat diduga kemampuan yang lihai dan licik berbahaya memang dikuasai semua tekniknya oleh GORIES MERE.

Sudahlah, kepada siapapun yang patut dapat diduga menjadi MAKELAR pembunuhan ini, anda bertanggung-jawab dong, Jagoan ! Kombes WW belum setinggi "perwira tinggi tertentu" ilmunya dalam melakukan segala sesuatu yang ujud-ujungnya adalah mencari usaha sampingan yang menghasilkan pundi-pundi. Kombes WW, hanya perwira menengah yang pasti didalam kepalanya hanya mengikuti hierarki dan garis komando penugasan. Apakah ia hanya sebagai alat dari oknum yang pangkat dan angkatannya jauh lebih tinggi ? Apakah saat melakukan persiapan eksekusi ini, Kombes WW berada dalam keadaan sehat jasmani dan rohani sebab patut dapat diduga "perwira tinggi tertentu" yang sangat liar berbahaya di POLRI itu, memiliki kemampuan hipnotis yang sangat berbahaya dan ketergantungannya kepada ilmu supranatural memang sangat kuat.

Disini POLRI harus berani membuka karena tidak ada yang kebal hukum di negara ini. Buka, buka semua. Jangan pernah takut terhadap orang per orang. Jika memang ada kendala bagi POLDA METRO JAYA untuk menangani kelompok tertentu yang dikenal sangat UNTOUCHABLE di dalam struktur organisasi POLRI maka jangan pernah ragu-ragu meminta dukungan dari JAJARAN POLHUKKAM, bahkan kepada Presiden SBY dan Wapres JK.

Tuntaskan penyelesaian kasus ini. Keterlaluan yang menjadi MAKELAR pembunuhan ini. Tidak tahu malu karena yang dilakukan seperti binatang liar yang buas kelaparan tetapi tidak bertanggung-jawab.

Germany along with five other EU countries have banned genetically modified crops (GMOs). This latest rejection came in a statement by German Agriculture Minister Ilse Aigner on Tuesday.

GMOs are a real threat to our food sovereignty and health in the US, says a locally-based food network who launched the No GMO Challenge to educate and inform consumers about the serious health risks of GMOs.

The introduction of GMOs into the food supply coincides with a sharp increase in childhood allergies and digestive disorders in the U.S., organizers say.

In the U.S. researchers estimate that over 70 % of processed foods on supermarket shelves contain some GMOs.

The majority of U.S. commercial livestock operations use GM feed.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are the result of laboratory processes which artificially insert foreign genes into the DNA of food crops or animals. Those genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even humans. GMOs are not safe, but have been in the food supply since 1996. Most Americans say they would not eat GMOs if labeled, but the U.S. does not require labeling.

Consumers are advised to buy non-GMO, or organic products, which are always non-GMO.

The Natural Food Industry’s official third-party verified Non-GMO Seal will be used on product packaging starting this November.

The White House has every right to refuse to grant press credentials and access to the White House press area to “Fox News”, not out of any retaliation but ONLY because the company really does not meet the requirements to be defined or qualified and journalists.

Even now, when the president’s remarks haven’t been written, we all can predict the Fox News response and “analysis”. That’s not news, it certainly isn’t analysis, and it is even a response because it’s prepared BEFORE the statement it claims to be answering.

We have every right to boycott Murdoch's businesses and their subsidiaries and programs.

Tetapi intinya, popularitas Obama masih tetap sangat tinggi di negaranya yaitu mencapai sekitar 73 persen. 73 Persen adalah sebuah angka yang sangat baik sekali.

Tetapi ada komentar dari pengamat asing dari kawasan Belanda Hans van Baalen - anggota parlemen Belanda dari partai konservatif VVD.

Hans Van Baalen menyampaikan kritikannya lewat Radio Nederland Belanda bahwa Obama terlalu ingin menyenangkan banyak pihak dan ini akan sangat menyulitkannya.

Selama 100 hari pemerintahannya, Presiden Obama berusaha memoles citra Amerika di panggung internasional. Di luar Amerika banyak orang melihat pemerintahan Bush hanya "mengurus kepentingan sendiri" dengan mengambil strategi yang keliru seperti perang di Irak dan penjara Guantanamo Bay di Kuba. Salah satu sasaran Obama adalah meyakinkan dunia internasional bahwa Amerika kini bersedia untuk bekerja sama dengan negara-negara lain. Hal itu ia tekankan dalam lawatannya belum lama ini ke Eropa dan Timur Tengah.

Tapi apakah Turki, dengan persyaratan apapun bisa menjadi anggota Uni Eropa, itu hanya bisa ditentukan oleh negara-negara dan anggota parlemen Uni Eropa saja. Menurut saya, Obama tidak boleh campur tangan.

Pemerintah Obama sangat aktif. Presiden Obama sudah bertandang ke berbagai negara dan menyusun berbagai program baru. Namun menurut banyak pakar, masih terlalu dini untuk memuji kepemimpinan presiden Obama. Yang jelas, ia tidak bisa menggembirakan semua pihak.

It seems that when you go to Miami Florida on vacation, you would expect everyone to enjoy the beach! Well, being I am a proud Canadian, and also a proud tourist of the sunny alligator state, I was a bit appalled at what transpired while staying at a Hotel.

I was brought up to recycle, as we all know, recycling produces 75% of garbage and waste. If you have a city that wants to be up to date, and make sure the least amount of money is spent on picking up recyclables , you would put into action a plan to invest in that cities future. Better recycling systems.

I stayed at the Marco Polo Ramada Inn, which in itself is a fair , average stay in and near the Bal Harbour area, good enough for this tourist! I kept all my recycling with me till the end, thinking of doing the last day deed of getting rid of all the recycling.

I was shocked to hear the hotel did not recycle. My mission was now to find one that did, and "sneak" my recycling in, as apparently the cost of recycling is hefty in Florida.

I was able to find one, that had visibly recycling bins outside, at night, I jumped the fence, and placed all my recycling in the proper containers. My girlfriend thinks I am crazy for taking all this effort, yet it is her type of mentality which is the problem at heart.

I pondered, why would this great city, full of wealth (as they did not show signs of the economy slowing down especially in the way the televised Miami Dade County hearings of the taxation system, went on about issues, laughing about money expenditures as if life was grand!).

It occurred to me, they did not see the profit behind recycling.
I guess, if you look hard enough you can find a way to make it profitable, as Calgary sure did!. So how can a place that has cow tipping competitions be so far ahead then Florida?

Greed! The Florida state does not think it is up to them to put in place the proper system to be able to recycle your stuff.

If I could ask Obama to do one thing, it would be to push forth a FEDERALLY imposed recycling system that based on population, the city would be fined if it were not within a certain amount of technology to take care of recycling. As for the cities, they could have better R&D on the subject (Florida has none!).

You could develop a fine system for all hotels that do not recycle properly, and offer their guests a greener environment. 5000$ for the first infraction and going up from there. There could be a random policing of hotels, to enforce the issue as well as a civilian declaration center, where people with proof (photos) can place a complaint against the hotel, 3 strikes you are fined 10,000$

That would start the money rolling in to the city for better system....and better technology!

The beach where I stayed was soooo dirty, it made my stomach turn. I was afraid of going on the sand. Cans, bottles, paper, all of it could have been recycled to boot. Not only was it dirty showing the little amount of effort people took to place their garbage in the containers, but also the lack of proper receptacles for recycling meant that much more garbage.

In the end it always ends up on how to get the city to make it their business to want to recycle, but in this case if they were to lose money to the federal gov. by not taking care of it, this would get the ball rolling!
If someone like Britany Spears or Paris Hilton can be seen to recycle so should we, no?

I am, to use an old slang phase, a WASP! I did not elect to be nor am a shamed to be labeled this phase, but my today’s gripe regards a well subscribed to online political news source, which I subscribe to named “Politico”.

Several days ago, a story published by Politico was posted entitled: “Blacks, whites hear Obama differently”, which I deem out of place for a News Service. I subscribe to Politico for factual news that’s happening in our local, state and federal government and not about an opinion that could cause another point of contention in our already troubling political environment taking place in Washington.

Edward R. Murrow expounded on the dangers of television on society, so why should it be any different for journalists on the Internet? Should an individual care to voice their opinion or thoughts on racism, there are numerous website to subscribe to.

On his pre-inaugural visit to Ben’s Chili Bowl, a landmark for Washington’s African-American community, President Barack Obama was asked by a cashier if he wanted his change back.

“Nah, we straight,” Obama replied.

The phrase was so subtle some listeners missed it. The reporter on pool duty quoted Obama as saying, “No, we’re straight.”

But many other listeners did not miss it. A video of the exchange became an Internet hit, and there was a clear moment of recognition among many blacks, who got a kick out of their Harvard-educated president sounding, as one commenter wrote on a hip-hop site, “mad cool.”

On matters of racial identity, many observers in the African-American community say he benefits from what’s known as “dog-whistle politics.” His language, mannerisms and symbols resonate deeply with his black supporters, even as the references largely sail over the heads of white audiences.

This is part of the reason that as a candidate, Obama won intense support among African-Americans while never being branded, in the fashion of a Jesse Jackson, as a candidate defined by race.

In January remarks about the economy, Obama made a reference to “American dreams that are being deferred,” a phrase black audiences understood without a citation as black poet Langston Hughes’. First lady Michelle Obama often cites her upbringing in the “South Side of Chicago.” On Election Night, the winner promised that “we as a people will get there,” an echo of Martin Luther King Jr. made more powerful by not expressly invoking King’s name.

Or a year ago in South Carolina, when he tried to swat down the persistent rumors that he is Muslim. “They try to bamboozle you, hoodwink you,” Obama said that night, in what many listeners heard as an unmistakable reference to activist Malcolm X, as portrayed in Spike Lee’s movie.

“All of us knew that he was referencing Malcolm X, and when he said it, the reaction was instantaneous,” said William Jelani Cobb, a professor at Spelman College who specializes in black history and politics.

Dog-whistle politics was hardly invented by Obama. One of its most deft practitioners lately was President George W. Bush. He regularly borrowed the language of evangelical Christianity and the anti-abortion movement to signal he was simpatico with their beliefs, even as he often avoided obvious displays of support that might turn off middle-of-the-road voters.

“The code words matter, how you dress matters, how you speak matters; it’s all subliminal messaging, and all politicians use it,” said Michael Fauntroy, an assistant professor of public policy at George Mason University, who specializes in race and American politics. “Ronald Reagan used to talk about making America the shining city on a hill, which is about America as divinely inspired, and it has a deep vein in the evangelical conservative movement. It goes on all the time, and there are so many circumstances when only the target people get the message.”

But Fauntroy said the stakes were higher for Obama, who had to “deracialize himself.”

John McWhorter, a linguist at the conservative Manhattan Institute, said that he believes that in Obama’s case coded messaging, which can be a matter of words, sound or grammar or all of them, is partly conscious because “he knows it arouses black audiences.”

“Black English, especially the cadence, is becoming America’s youth lingua franca, especially since the mainstreaming of hip-hop. Its sound conveys warmth, authenticity and a touch of seductive danger not only to blacks but many whites, especially ones below about 50,” McWhorter said. “Obama’s tapping into that cadence helped win him the election. Imagine John Kerry or Hillary Clinton saying, ‘Yes, we can!’ It would have sounded phony — only in what I call a ‘black-cent’ can it sound prophetic and arousing.”

“The connection that Barack Obama has to the black community and the connection George Bush has to the evangelical community began long before they began running for president. It was a natural and deep connection, politics aside,” Fleischer said. “When they became candidates, it was a powerful, strong bond that created a base for both people. … But genuine speech with conviction has tremendous power, and there always is a tendency for the base to hear the deeper message and say, ‘That was sweet. He’s talking to me.’”

Bush used phrases lifted from church hymns and the Bible to signal an affinity for like-minded Christians. The phrase “culture of life,” became part of the political lexicon when Bush used it weeks before the 2000 election — it was a less political, more evangelical version of “pro-life.”

Bush also recognized that he had to tread carefully with his evangelism — keeping his most loyal voters satisfied, even if following through on policy initiatives might be difficult.

As for Obama, an aide declined to talk about whether it was a matter of strategy.

Beyond speech, blacks have picked up certain of Obama’s mannerisms, particularly his walk, that signal authenticity. Bush had his cowboy strut, and Obama has a swagger — a rhythmic lope that says cool and confident and undeniably black. It was most noticeable on his first post-election trip to the White House, some said.

“The swagger was out of control, dragging the left foot, it was like, ‘Barack, you have got to calm down,’” said Melissa Harris-Lacewell, a Princeton University professor who teaches courses in politics and black studies. “The swagger thing just got worse and worse during the campaign. … I am sure David Axelrod told him to stop swaggering. … I can’t imagine that anyone is telling him to do that.”

“In those circumstances, it is his blackness kind of squishing out of the edges. It’s not the same thing as deploying it like Bush did, but it has the same effect … solidifying his base of black folks,” she said.

Yet the question remains as to how far style or even swagger can take Obama among black people, without matching policies seen as beneficial to the black community.

“The swagger goes a long way for Barack, a long way,” Harris-Lacewell said, adding that the black support will mean a boost in polls. “Black people were strong supporters of Clinton because of race. … If it works for someone who is just symbolically for the black president, it will be very powerful for the actual black president.”

Notably, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has used phrases recently like “bling bling” to describe the stimulus package and “off the hook” to describe the new RNC outreach plans, at a time when he is trying to step up the party’s appeal to African-American voters.

Beyond stylistic gestures, Obama has made several overtures to the black press since winning in November. His first print interview as president-elect was given to Ebony and his first print interview as president was given to Black Enterprise. And at his first press conference, journalists from the black press were given prime seating — yet weren’t called on for questions.

Strategy or not, Obama’s efforts will likely continue, some said, and so far have helped.

“I think that the combination of his style and his swagger and his connection to the various currents of culture make him seem like a man who is much younger than he is,” Cobb said. “But the genius with Obama is that he is fluent in it, so it doesn’t come off as a deliberate kind of doling out of references or points. It winds up to being to his benefit politically.”

I have not posted here for several months, so thought it would be good to stop by and check in. It is not that I have not been active on the web.

Quite the contrary, I write almost every day and post to several different blogs. My main political blog is called South by Southwest. I have a secondary one that I call Behind the Links. I often cross-post to a Canadian political blog, The Reaction. I am a regular at TPM Cafe.

In order to provide a wide variety and cover my particular interests, I write about certain themes dedicated to the days of the week. Sunday - the Constitution and national security, Monday - a Republican rant, Tuesday - Congress, Wednesday - activism, Thursday - wars and the Middle East, Friday - the Obama administration, and Saturday - news of other nations.

Happily, I joined Twitter recently, and follow several officials, including Senator McCaskill, V.P. Biden and Senator Grassley (his writing is fun). I also follow David Gregory, George Stephanapoulos and other talking heads.

What I am wondering is what is this blog like? Would it be worth my time to post here? Who reads it? Would it be fun or useful? I would welcome comments.

Jobless Hit with Bank Fees on Unemployment Benefits

For hundreds of thousands of workers losing their jobs during the recession, there's a new twist to their financial pain: Even as they're collecting unemployment benefits, they're paying bank fees just to get access to their money.

Thirty states have struck such deals with banks that include Citigroup Inc., Bank of America Corp., JP Morgan Chase and US Bancorp, an Associated Press review of the agreements found. All the programs carry fees, and in several states the unemployed have no choice but to use the debit cards. Some banks even charge overdraft fees of up to $20 — even though they could decline charges for more than what's on the card.

"It's a racket. It's a scam," said Rachel Davis, a 38-year-old dental technician from St. Louis who was laid off in October. Davis was given a MasterCard issued through Central Bank of Jefferson City and recently paid $6 to make two $40 withdrawals.

The banks say their programs offer convenience. They also provide at least one way to tap the money at no charge, such as using a single free withdrawal to get all the cash at once from a bank teller. But the banks benefit from human nature, as people end up treating the cards like all the other plastic in their wallets.

The fees are raising questions from lawmakers who just recently voted to infuse banks with taxpayer money to keep them afloat.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., a member of the House Financial Services Committee, said the situation points to "yet another example of how we need to regulate the ways in which banks charge overdraft and other fees."

"Banks, particularly ones that have received federal help, should not be imposing endless fees and charges on the unemployed in this time of economic crisis," said Maloney, who has written a bill to require that consumers be notified at the point of sale if they're about to incur overdraft fees.

Some banks, depending on the agreement negotiated with each state, also make money on the interest they earn after the state deposits the money and before it's spent. The banks and credit card companies also get roughly 1 to 3 percent off the top of each transaction made with the cards.

Neither banks nor credit card companies will say how much money they are making off the programs, or what proportion of the revenue comes from user versus merchant fees or interest. It's difficult to estimate the profits because they depend on how often recipients use their cards and where they use them.

But the potential is clear.

In Missouri, for instance, 94,883 people claimed unemployment benefits through debit cards from Central Bank. Analysts say a recipient uses a card an average of six to 10 times a month. If each cardholder makes three withdrawals at an out-of-network ATM, at a fee of $1.75, the bank would collect nearly $500,000. If half of the cardholders also dial customer service three times in any given week (the first time is free; after that, it's 25 cents a call), the bank's revenue would jump to more than $521,000. That would yield $6.3 million a year.

Rachel Storch, a Democratic state representative, received a wave of complaints about the fees from autoworkers laid off from a suburban St. Louis Chrysler plant. She recently urged Gov. Jay Nixon to review the state's contract with Central Bank with an eye toward reducing the fees.
"I think the contract is unfair and potentially illegal to unemployment recipients," she said.
Central Bank did not return two messages seeking comment.

Glenn Campbell, a spokesman for Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-Mo., said the congressman would support a review of the debit card programs nationwide.

Another 10 states — including the unemployment hot spots of California, Florida and South Carolina — are considering such programs or have signed contracts. The remainder still use traditional checks or direct deposit.

With the national unemployment rate now at 7.6 percent, the market for bank-issued unemployment cards is booming. In 2003, states paid only $4 million of unemployment insurance through debit cards. By 2007, it had ballooned to $2.8 billion, and by 2010 it will likely rise to $10.5 billion, according to a study conducted by Mercator Advisory Group, a financial industry consulting firm.

The economic stimulus plan signed by President Barack Obama this week will increase federal unemployment benefits by $40 billion this year. Subsequently, there will be more money from which banks can collect fees. The U.S. Department of Labor allows the fees as long as states create a way for recipients to get their money for free, spokeswoman Suzy Bohnert said.
"Beyond that, the individual decides how to manage his drawdowns using the debit card," she said in an e-mail.

A typical contract looks like the agreement between Citigroup and the state of Kansas, which took effect in November. The state expects to save $300,000 a year by wiring payments to Citigroup instead of printing and mailing checks.

Citigroup's bill to the state: zero. The bank collects its revenue from fees paid by merchants and the unemployed.

"If you use your card the right way, you're not going to pay fees at all," said Paul Simpson, Citigroup's global head of public sector, health care and wholesale cards.

But that's not always practical.

Arthur Santa-Maria, a laid-off engineer who lives just outside Albuquerque, N.M., said he didn't pay any fees the first time he was laid off, for several months in 2007. His unemployment benefits were paid by paper checks. He found a new job last year but was laid off again last fall.

This time, he was issued a Bank of America debit card — a "prepaid" card in industry lingo — but he was surprised to learn he had to pay fees to get his money. He asked the bank to waive them. It said no. That's when Santa-Maria called back to ask how to check his account online. He logged on and saw that the call cost him a half dollar. To avoid more fees, Santa-Maria found a Bank of America ATM at a strip mall and withdrew $80 at no charge. When he got back to his car, he decided to take out the rest of his money — $250 — and deposit it in his bank account.
Afterward, Santa-Maria logged on to his account and saw a charge of $1.50 for two withdrawals in one day.

"They're trying to use my money to make money," Santa-Maria said. "I just see banks trying to make that 50 cents or a buck and a half when I should be given the service for free."
New Mexico authorities bargained with Bank of America to get lower fees for unemployment recipients, said Carrie Moritomo, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Workforce Solutions. The state saves up to $1.5 million annually by switching from checks to debit cards.

Bank of America spokeswoman Britney Sheehan pointed out that the fees charged in New Mexico are similar to those charged in the 29 other states with unemployment debit cards. The bank believes "the fee schedule is reasonable and consistent with similar programs," she said.
Banks could issue unemployment debit cards with no fees for cardholders, but that would likely mean that states would have to pay more of the administrative costs, said Mark Harrington, director of marketing for Citigroup's prepaid card services. If a state demanded no cardholder fees and could pay the difference, Citigroup might enter such a contract.

"We would be open to that," Harrington said. "We're not looking to structure any programs where we would lose money, but we're definitely flexible."

Simpson noted that the cards can save money for jobless workers who have no bank accounts. In the past, these people had to use corner check-cashing shops that charged fees as high as 2 percent, or $6 for a $300 check. Now, they can swipe their cards at McDonald's, Wal-Mart or elsewhere for free.

Kenna Gortler, a laid-off paper mill worker in Oregon, said her union is advising members to avoid the debit cards and sign up to get their benefits through direct deposit. More than 300 of her fellow workers have lost their jobs at the mill in the last three months, and horror stories about ATM fees and overdraft charges are starting to filter back to others who are just now signing up for their benefits.

"It's discouraging," Gortler said. "People have limited funds and they don't need to be giving money to the banks. They need to be keeping that money to feed their families and pay bills."

If all the world’s problems, pain and suffering are due to ignorance then wisdom, intelligence and awareness are the solutions to all the worlds’ problems, who can deliver the solution? We have a world out of balance, who is there to bring it back into balance? It is a world of disinformation and bias, who can clarify the truth without distortion by special interest? Who is it that is defined by their intention to “make aware” and who is it that can facilitate the many to see the reality behind the appearances?

Independent Journalists and Organizations of Journalistic Endeavor

Organizations of journalists exist to achieve what no individual journalist can achieve alone. They provide collective wisdom and a large pool of knowledge and information sources combined with a little structure and discipline. The organized journalists leverage and share resources reducing costs for all the participants in the journalistic organization and the end user. A journalistic organization is a collective effort that combines areas of specialty to deliver a complete product to the organizations readers.

The role of the editor is a special one to assist the author in, identifying errors and omissions, review of the logic, analysis of the possibility and probability, determining what is known, highlighting what is unknown and needs to be known, defining the questions to be asked. For it is the question not the statement that is most powerful creating a vacuum in the mind that must be filled, and since nature abhors a vacuum it is soon answered. Spotlighting the rational and the irrational views and finding the wisdom that ends the conflict between them. The main function of the editor is to take a lot of information and detail and reduce it down to provide a concise understanding, an executive summary for today’s short attention spans.

The editor translates concepts requiring a specialty framework of knowledge into terms and examples understood within a general framework of knowledge while providing some details to validate. Those working in other vocations don’t have time to study all the detail so the value of the editor and the journalists is saving the reader the time it takes to become knowledgeable and informed, so they can make decisions. The reader with greater interest is then directed to additional detail and more information if they require it and where and when to find the follow-up on the unanswered questions and culmination of the story if it has not ended.

Time is money, time is in many contexts a limited resource; knowledge is power so this is the value generated for other economic system participants by the journalistic vocation. As such the journalistic agents should be duly rewarded by other economic system participants with a portion of the wealth they create for it is the journalist that enhances their wealth creation.

Good investigative journalism is an “effort” intensive vocation which can demand substantial resources to juice and invest in the development of the story and this creates the need for a supporting body to nurture the individual cells. Simple cut and paste is not journalism, it is propagation and validation, something we should all do. Journalism requires study, disciplined placement of attention, a discerning mind, benefited by understanding and comprehension resulting from years of experience.

Enhanced and well exercised cognitive capabilities and a sharp mind are essential to connecting disparate pieces of information and clues to form and assemble the complete picture, the whole story, and the untold story that becomes told.

The New Journalist Organization

Very efficient, advanced communications, data mining, research and collaboration tools, diversified distribution channels, and a database of contacts and the maintenance of relationships to sustain information flow. The news organization is trusted by the readers to direct “attention” to the matters, issues, and solutions in order of priority. The news organization delivers the balanced view, one resulting from the integration of contrasting perspectives to deliver one that is whole and integrated.

The new journalistic organization is not a unidirectional flow of information it is bidirectional where readers provide feedback helping to evolve understanding, pose questions, and some actually becoming sources of information in their specialty area or as a result of their direct experience and involvement in the story line.

Formats: Diversity is good, sometimes print is good on a train, a subway, a plane, at the beach, and in waiting rooms. Print does not require power or energy to read just natural light making it a green sustainable fail proof technology. Newspapers should be available in these locations. A newspaper vending machine is itself a quick informer showing the front page, and the priority stories and current state of affairs. Are things in balance or out of balance, what is being done to correct imbalance? What must be done to bring balance? The static printed medium can supply the entry points, the URLs leading to the dynamic and more expansive content.

On the other hand there is the dynamic real time need for energy efficient electronic distribution to meet the speed of change, the accelerated rate of evolution that is itself a product of the light speed information flow combined with the furthering development of the story. Also we remember there are those, a portion of us that are empowered by the simplicity of access to information provided by the printed medium.

Advertising: There is nothing wrong with advertising and marketing, and it is evolving. The new department name is the Awareness Department. No longer is it a medium of gimmick, manipulation of ego, or motivation through fear or a producer of envy. It no longer attempts to create an illusion and seduce with fictions, but portrays a reality. People want to know a service or product’s features and functions, the level of quality and intelligence that goes into it; the efficiency achieved in producing it. The consumer wants to be educated in how the product or service can benefit them and the lives of others they know. The consumer wants to be able to access the detail specifications if needed so they can compare and the various levels of need each model of product or service package can fulfill. The consumer wants to be aware of what is available as a solution to a problem or challenge they are having. The consumer wants to be able to find the information they want easily. The consumer expects to find this information linked to the channels of interest associated with the product. If one is a music connoisseur then what better to see what is newly available, the evolutions of products and services and their current status, related to their listening pleasure, while they are selecting music to listen to. Advertising and marketing is not a “push operation” it is a pull operation, not one of force, but one of gravity, and it does this by making itself intelligently available and nudging with the creation of awareness.

It is the job of the awareness department representing an organization of producers, a business, to deliver this to the right places in a concise and understandable form allowing the seeker to drill down to the detail. When the want or desire of a consumer arises it is the job of the awareness department to make sure there is a link to a path that leads to fulfillment.

News Story: the local, regional, and global scope of perspective and story are all separate areas of focus and need yet all combine to provide a holistic view. There is an understanding that the local gives rise to the regional and the regional to the global, the story lines are all connected to our Great Epic story, the story of humanity, and it is we all of us that together are writing it.

It is the job of the journalist to create awareness leading to balance in the world while promoting evolution and growth, and the ability to adapt. It is the journalists that query the technicians that can solve the problems and the experts that have the insight and understanding. It is the journalist that helps generate the impetus that comes from the people to direct the politicians to orchestrate. It is the journalist that eliminates the fictions that divide, for truth only creates unity. It is journalists that bring attention to issues and their solutions, to direct healing, repair and aid to those areas of humanity needing it, so we can all sleep soundly at night without worry, knowing that tomorrow all the children will awaken to play and pretend, and fill the air with the music of their laughter, and appease the gods so that everyone has a life worth living.

"Let it be know that when the sounds of the children’s laughter grows dim in the universe and the divine vibration is replaced with sound of crying and tears the gods will come and with their enormous might carried by vehicles of light and eliminate that which silenced the laughter."

Bailout is only temporary solutions to cover what lost by financial or other industrial sectors. Bailout money is public money used to cover incurred by rich sectors. This adjustment to relieve them is may be by pruning necessary social projects or overburdening its citizens with direct or indirect taxes. More taxes mean lesser expenditure is best way to worsen economic growth. Bailout does not mean better future of these sectors due to low financial demand from loss making or reduced output of industries. Final decision of moving economy is by the final customers who already have lost to high living cost. Improving citizens buying power would yield the result. Change would need to:

Empower population with buying power, for instant relief would be to tax freedom to working population with condition to utilize in consumption. And soft loan to industries to increase production. So together can move economy.
Encourage Small and medium industrial sectors for more employment.
Nearly 40 million Americans are living in poverty. Steps needed to minimize.
Research and investments in rural economy. and agro based industries. Would be more helpful for Job creation.

The U.S. terror war as seen through the eyes of a prisoner

When we first began corresponding with Khalid Awan in 2007, we had no idea why he was serving time in U.S. federal prison. We soon discovered Awan was one of the first of thousands of Muslims taken prisoner in the post-9/11 U.S. "terror war." As the story began unfolding in our letters, we began to realize that this honest, humble and sincere man was not only innocent, but the ongoing injustice being done to him provides critical insight into the mindless, meanspirited, bureaucratic-yes-men idiocy fueling the illegal U.S. "war on terror" (and just about everything else that is going wrong in this country). At our insistence, Awan wrote his story and supplied us with whatever documents we requested. And now, after three months of cooperative efforts, the story of Khalid Awan can be told. We have come to know Awan as a peaceful man engaged in peaceful work who has been wrongfully accused, detained and repeatedly convicted of crimes he did not commit because he was a Muslim with international connections and an office in New York on 9/11. We present this to you in faith that you will realize a deeper understanding of the levels of complicity necessary for the "land of the free" to tolerate the phony war on terror year after year and in hope that Awan—and all the other million or more political prisoners being held by this country—will one day be reunited with their families.

My name is Khalid Qayyam Awan. My rights have been eroded in the name of "national security." Since I am a Muslim, my story has been written, produced, directed, choreographed and staged by U.S. government officials.

The Department of Justice and the FBI have been under pressure by the Bush administration to find "terrorists" in this country and to preemptively convict them before they can strike at the U.S. Although there is good evidence that there are few, if any, potential terrorists in the Muslim communities of the United States, U.S. attorneys who are not able to find any real "terrorists," target, prosecute and convict innocent Muslims on phony or inflated criminal charges to show they are politically "loyal to the president," and to avoid being fired for political reasons, as recent news revelations strongly suggest. These prosecutions have destroyed families in a country that is renowned for its human rights activities around the world.

Background

I am a 46-year old Canadian citizen and native of Pakistan. Throughout my life I studied in Catholic Christian schools and read the Bible every morning. I received my Masters Degree in Political Science at the University of Karachi in Pakistan and I am one of the founding members of the Pakistan Human Rights Commission. As a result of my belief in humanity and equality, I moved to Canada in 1993, becoming a Canadian citizen in 1996. In Canada I worked as an immigration consultant and was a member of the Canadian Bar Association. As part of my business, I also had an office in New York, which is where I was on Sept 11, 2001.

October 2001

On October 25, 2001, U.S. government agents entered my house in Garden City, NY, without knocking and yelled at me to drop everything or they would shoot me. They forced me to lie on the ground while they handcuffed me and placed me under arrest.

They claimed they had received an anonymous tip that I was a material witness for the 9/11 World Trade Center terrorist attack. After my arrest, I was taken in front of New York Judge Michael Mukasey (current U.S. attorney general known for his Israeli sympathies). After a detailed investigation by the FBI and U.S. Naval Intelligence, I was put in front of a Grand Jury. The case was dismissed on November 6, 2001.

Charge #2

Before I was released from custody, on November 5, 2001, the U.S. government imposed new charges: "Conspiracy to Commit Fraud and Money Laundering." They alleged that I stole/misused the identity profiles of my clients, people who come to me seeking to obtain Canadian visas and citizenship in the U.S., although there was not a single complaint from any of my clients or any banks.

(Note: Journalist Dr. Paul Craig Roberts stated in his 12/11/06 column, America’s Injustice System is Criminal: "The criminal justice system today consists of a process whereby a defendant is coerced into admitting to a crime in order to escape more severe punishment for maintaining his innocence. Many of the crimes for which people are imprisoned never occurred").

Every defense attorney knows that today prosecutors can purchase testimony against a defendant by paying "witnesses" with money, dropping charges against them or reducing prison sentences to testify against defendants. Jurors tend to trust government prosecutors and are generally unaware that they will withhold exculpatory evidence and suborn perjury and bear false witness to obtain convictions.

Months went by. Then a year had passed and I was still "detained" without a trial for crimes I did not commit. My lawyer advised me to plead guilty. He said it was in my own best interests as I would be "facing 10 years on the money laundering charge" due to the current climate in New York courts and my being a Muslim and a native of Pakistan. By this time I had served 17 months in detention, so I pled guilty to $95,000 of fraud conspiracy, which carried a maximum sentence of 15 to 24 months. The plea agreement—release for time served—was not even honored and I was sentenced to five years, the sentence for approximately $2,400,000 in credit card fraud.

Appeal to Canada

In January, 2005, when I was finally able to apply for a "treaty transfer" to Canada. I learned from my case manager that my citizenship was listed in the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ (BOP) computer as "Pakistani" instead of "Canadian." All my Canadian documentation—passport, citizenship card, social insurance and health cards and Canadian drivers license—were in the possession of the FBI. I wrote the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo, NY, to request that they fix this problem so I could be transferred back to Canada. On March 30, 2005, the Canadian Consulate sent a letter to the jail to correct my citizenship status, but the FBOP ignored the request and did not correct the computer.

I realize now that the BOP intentionally left my citizenship as "Pakistani" to make me administratively ineligible for transfer to Canada and keep me in the U.S. while the U.S. government prepared new charges against me.

A year later, six weeks before my scheduled release date, I was transferred from Allenwood FCI to the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, NY, supposedly in preparation for my deportation back to Canada. I signed the immigration deportation papers, which incidentally, contained my correct citizenship status. Later I learned the Allenwood FCI warden had been given a summons from Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) Lawrence Ferazani in January, 2006, requesting for me to appear in federal court in Brooklyn, NY, on February 15, 2006.

Family threatened

Once in Brooklyn, on January 31, 2006, I phoned my family in Montreal. I learned that Officer Buttazzoni from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) had contacted my sister regarding the whereabouts of my wife. He was told that she had returned to Pakistan. Buttazzoni left his phone number with my brother-in-law, telling him to please tell my wife to call him back immediately. She called Buttazzoni several times and left messages on his voice mail, after which Buttazzoni told my brother-in-law to tell her not to call him again.

Then on February 17, 2006, I was brought by AUSA Ferazani to an office in New York to be interrogated by the FBI without an attorney present. I was told by AUSA Farazani that if I did not talk they would arrest my sisters in Montreal and my wife, who had returned to Pakistan. He said, "We just have to make a call."

I was surprised and scared that he knew where my family lived. He stated, "If you don’t tell me [what I want to know] I can recommend lethal injection to the court and call the press and tomorrow morning you will be in every newspaper as a big terrorist."

Another federal agent told me that if I did not cooperate, they would turn me over to the Indian government, an enemy of Pakistan, which would treat me as an enemy.

At this time I was certain that my family was in danger because they were living in countries that work closely with U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies. After seeing my liberty evaporate when I was cleared of being a material witness in the World Trade Center tragedy, I had every reason to believe that the overarching power of the government would secure my family members’ arrests and inflict severe punishment on them. I strongly believed the RCMP was working in collaboration with the FBI to harass me to admit to charges of crimes that I did not commit. I thought about how the RCMP officials had played a role in other discrimination cases that included the interrogation and torture of Canadian citizens Mahrar Arar, Abdullah Almalki and Ahmed EI Matti, whose only "crimes" were being Canadian Muslims.

Because I felt I had no other choice, I signed the Miranda Rights waiver forms the agent gave me, waiving my right to an attorney’s presence during questioning and spoke with agents of the U.S. government on Feb. 17 and 20, 2006.

February 17, 2006: Interrogation…and bribe

I was pushed to the edge during this interrogation. Even though I could not answer all of their questions, I was determined to provide anything they wanted, even if the questions made no sense. I tried to give answers so they would be pleased and not give me the death penalty or harm my family.

During this interrogation, the agents offered me the opportunity to work for them in an "under cover capacity" abroad in Pakistan and Canada. They wanted me to testify against a group of Sikh people, on fabricated statements, based on my association with them from when I lived in Pakistan. I refused. So they told me to keep in mind that they wanted me to testify against people who are of the Sikh religion from India, an enemy of Pakistan and, because I am a Muslim, I should not have any concern for them.

I said, "But they are human beings! If they did something wrong and I knew about it, I would be more than happy to help the law, but you are asking me about something which I know nothing about."

The agents waited a couple weeks and then started asking me again, this time through my attorney. Upon my continued refusal, Officer Buttazzoni in Montreal again approached my family. I told them to get an attorney and not to go to his office without a legal written notice from him. They followed my advice and the RCMP stopped calling them—but not before the FBI was able to create a self-incriminating statement based on "evidence" they secured during their interrogation of me without the presence of my attorney. As a result of this, prosecutors were able to go in front of a Grand Jury and indict me, based on my own (fabricated) statements, prepared by federal agents without my signature.

Third charge March 16, 2006

On March 15, 2006, I completed the term of my imprisonment and was to be deported back to Canada. Before I could even go out onto the street I was arrested a third time and charged with "Providing Material Support to a Foreign Terrorist," and "Money Laundering to Support Terrorism," for supposedly providing support to the Sikh organization Khalistan Commando Force (KCF), through a man of the Sikh religion, Mr. Paramjit Singh Panjwar (PMJ), whom I met once when visiting Pakistan.

These charges emerged while I was still in prison and had no capability to provide KCF with any kind of support. It was difficult for me to get enough finances together to pay my legal fees while I was in prison for five years and I could not launder any money because I did not have any. In the plea agreement I signed for my previous "money laundering" charge, it is mentioned that no further money laundering charges would be brought against me, so this was double jeopardy and a violation of the 5th Amendment of the Constitution.

August to December, 2006: administrative detention

I appeared in court and pled "not-guilty" for my second "superseding indictment" on August 2, 2006. Upon my unwavering refusal to work for the government on their fabricated statements against the Sikh people, FBOP officials placed me into the Segregation Housing Unit (SHU), for 210 days of segregation and isolation despite the fact that I was rated as needing low security on the government’s "Male Custody Classification Form."

Segregation was continuous torture as we were not given basic amenities or respect and the building was cold and leaky. I went on a hunger strike for four days and after that I filed various complaints with the FBOP higher authorities, but no action was taken.

October 2006

After my refusal to work for the government on their case against "two individuals" they had identified as "potentially to be joined in this matter, but at this stage we don’t have enough evidence to charge," the government went to them and indicted them and, giving them a lot of benefits, prepared them to testify against me.

During my pre-trial hearing, the first two counts of my indictment were dismissed due to lack of facts and figures. Within two weeks, AUSA indicted me again, probably to cover up for their huge embarrassment. This hastily drawn up indictment was also full of factual errors and creative legal theories.

This time, in the bill of particulars/indictment, AUSA Farazani included the names of the following participants as co-conspirators in this "conspiracy."

1) Khalid Awan—me
2) Paramjit Singh Panjwar—Leader of Sikh Khalisto Commando Force (KFC), residing in Pakistan (not indicted).
3) Gurbax Singh—Indicted as co-conspirator #1
4) Baljinder Singh—Indicted as co-conspirator #2
5) Jatinder Singh—Residing in Texas (not indicted).
6) Dr. Pritpal Singh—Residing in California (not indicted).

Except for me, all the "co-conspirators" are elected leaders of the Sikh religion, a group of people known in Pakistani history books as the worst killers and rapists of the Pakistani nation, having killed, raped, burned and cut into pieces a hundred thousand Pakistani Muslim men, women, girls and infants during the world’s largest migration from India to Pakistan in 1947.

Sikh Background (a little history)

To better understand the game the U.S. government was playing with me and the Sikh people, a brief history is necessary. The mid-1980s to the mid-1990s was a decade of violent political opposition in Punjab, an area divided between India and Pakistan. The pattern of unlawful and indiscriminate arrests and killings during that time has left a lasting legacy of "catch and kill" police practices in the state. In the early 1980s, the Indian army attacked the Sikh Holy place called the Golden Temple in the Punjab State of India. About 10,000 civilian lives were lost while hundreds of people were detained without charge or trial and thousands of "disappearances" and extrajudicial executions were carried out by the police.

As a result, thousands of Sikhs fled to various countries for asylum. Many of the Sikhs who were living near Pakistan took refuge inside Pakistan, having the advantage of speaking the same language and the area being home to established holy places where Sikhs from all over the world came annually to perform their pilgrimage to the Pakistan side of the Punjab state. Pakistan is like a Vatican for the Sikhs, because the Sikh religion was started there and is the birthplace of their holy guru.

Paramjit Singh Panjwar (PMJ)

Among these Sikhs, PMJ also took refuge after members of his family were arrested and killed by the Indian police. In Pakistan he started producing videos about the attacks and killings of Sikhs by the Indian police, and started printing and distributing literature on the Sikh problems at the hand of the Indian government. He also started broadcasting a daily radio program and running various charities for Sikh families in India and Pakistan whose bread-winning family members had been killed by the Indian government.

I met PMJ during a visit to Pakistan when he was living next to my brother-in-law and I invited him to a wedding. He wrote his phone number down for me on a piece of paper. He also wrote down the number for Baljinder Singh, his friend in New York, because he was a community advocate for the Sikh people who might refer clients to me for immigration purposes. I kept the number, but did not call him.

The FBI had been after Baljinder Singh ever since he delivered a speech in front of the White House at the "Sikh Million March" on Washington in 2000. The FBI had called him for interrogation from 2000 to 2006, but was unable to arrest him. When they interrogated me on February 17, 2006, they told me they needed me to testify in court that the Pakistani government was taking care of terrorists in Pakistan and New York. It was Baljinder Singh, and Gurbax Singh, a close relative of PMJ, that they wanted me to testify against, and since they found his and PMJ’s phone numbers during their search of my office in New York after my arrest in 2001, they deputized their paid Sikh informant, Harjeet Singh, into my unit at MDC in 2006.

Harjeet told me he would be released from federal custody in the next six months and he wished to visit Pakistan for the annual Sikh pilgrimage there. He asked me if I knew some Sikhs in Pakistan who might take care of him during his visit. I replied that I did know Paramjit Singh Panjwar, who was there on asylum and introduced them over the phone.

The FBI then went to Baljinder and Gurbax Singh and convinced them to testify that I had transferred $4000 (two $2,000 transactions allegedly conducted between 1998 and 2002) from them to Pakistan on behalf of PMJ. In exchange for this, they dropped the charges they had against them and promised amnesty from the Indian government (for armed attack on Indian police) and U.S. green cards for them and their families.

PMJ has not been indicted by the U.S. nor convicted by the Indian courts of anything. No effort has been spent for his extradition by U.S. "terror war" ally, Pakistan, though the Pakistani government has, according to AI, handed over 700 Muslim citizens to the U.S. government.

According to my attorneys, no American citizen of the Christian faith nor of the Sikh faith has ever been arrested for providing material support to the KCF, even though the KCF is a Sikh organization that draws its support from members of the Sikh community.

I, on the other hand, a Canadian citizen of Pakistan origin and Muslim faith, on Sept 12, 2007, am the only person in the U.S. to be convicted of terrorism, on fake, fabricated and government purchased testimonies of the Sikh’s religious people, for transferring $4000. I was convicted and sentenced on three counts:

1) Conspiracy to provide material support (14 years)
2) Providing material support to foreign terrorists (10 years)
3) Money laundering to support terrorism (14 years)
Total: 38 years to run concurrently (14 more years in prison).
Jail

The government sent me to FCI Terre Haute Prison in Indiana, a "medium" prison with the exception of one isolated unit, called the "Guantanamo Bay on American Soil,"—Unit D, the "dog unit."

According to the history of this jail, this unit was built in the 1930s for Cuban people, after which it was used for convicted members of the Ku Klux Klan. Then it was used for death row inmates until its "permanent closure." It was re-opened with minor repairs for Muslim inmates because they are worse than death-row inmates—not because of their "crimes" but because of their religious beliefs.

We are denied many privileges according to BOP policy because we are Muslims. Visits must be through glass and phone calls and outgoing mail are routed through Washington D.C. The buildings are old and leaking so it’s cold in the winter, flying insects in the summer and air circulation is poor year round. Lead is seeping out of the walls and many inmates suffer chronic joint pain.

The government is trying to goad us to act violently so they can justify their claim that we are dangerous, but they have failed. According to the jail guards this Muslim unit is the most peaceful they have ever seen in any prison anywhere and they ask to be allowed to work here.

I agree that those guilty of terrorism should be prosecuted, but innocent people should not be targeted. Locking us down in this dirty, old, cold, leaking building and prohibiting us from hugging our children and restricting our calls to them will never bring peace to this country or make this nation safer.

To the American people:

I have been singled out, isolated and discriminated against because of my race and religion. I am being held here in detention against my will for crimes that I never committed. I am not a terrorist and I should not be treated like one.

The AUSA succeeded in getting a verdict against me from the jurors in December, 2006, with the help of the media glamorization of the "war on terror." I have been convicted of guilt by association; of making the FBI angry and vengeful by refusing both to work for them abroad in an undercover capacity and to testify against members of the Sikh religion using their fabricated statements; and of being a Muslim and native of Pakistan.

Isn’t it time that all humans are equal? Isn’t it time that everyone is free to choose his faith? Are human rights protected by law? We hear this, but we would like to see it – especially in this country called the United States of America that claims itself across the world as a champion of human rights.

Obama election sparks new interest in civil rights

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - When Barack Obama is sworn in next week as the first black U.S. president, 97-year-old Alabama civil rights veteran Amelia Boynton Robinson will see a miracle in the milestone.

"I think it's an act of God," said Robinson, who was jailed and beaten decades ago in the racially segregated U.S. South.

For Robinson, whose mother was born just a few years after the end of slavery, the fight for equality did not end with the civil rights laws passed in the 1960s and it won't end with Obama's historic inauguration on January 20.

"To this day, I am still on the battlefield," Robinson told 35 educators, students and activists last week in Tuskegee, Alabama, during a four-day tour of civil rights historic sites in Selma, Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama.

Obama's election has rekindled interest in the U.S. civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s amid continuing racial tensions and wide disparities in income, education and health care between whites and minority groups.

In Alabama, visitor numbers are up dramatically at a center that marks the route of a five-day, 47-mile march led by King from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 by 25,000 people demanding equal rights for black Americans, said Tina Smiley of the U.S. National Park Service.

Doug McMillon, chief executive of the Sam's Club unit of Wal-Mart Stores Inc, has brought four large groups of executives to the center in recent months, and has commissioned a film so all his workers can share the experience, she said.

Activists Charles Alphin and Bernard Lafayette organize civil rights tours such as the one Robinson addressed.

Robinson, who once hosted Martin Luther King Jr. in her home, will travel to England next month to teach the principles of non-violence used in the sit-ins, mass arrests and protests that characterized the movement.

In the 1930s, she started a voter registration drive in Selma, Alabama, where African-Americans were hindered from voting until the mid-1960s by capricious literacy tests, poll taxes and the need to produce two white "sponsors."

Robinson catapulted the issue into the limelight in 1965 when she asked King for help.

Soon afterward, King led the historic voting rights marches in Alabama. On what came to be known as "Bloody Sunday," white authorities beat and tear-gassed protesters and television images flashed around the world.

A LONG ROAD

"It's the screaming I remember most," says Joanne Bland, who was 11 years old when she was knocked unconscious on Bloody Sunday. Her 14-year-old sister needed 26 stitches on her head; but both girls marched again the next Tuesday.

The violence sparked outrage and solidarity marches around the country and helped prod Congress into passing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a law that finally secured the right of African-Americans to vote.

Bland ran Selma's voting rights museum and now leads tours of the 20,000-plus town that is grappling with a high crime rate, drug problems, severe poverty and rising unemployment.

Bland says the Selma movement paved the way for the election of Obama, who visited the city in 2007.

"What we did here in Selma is why he was able to be elected," she said.

Obama often credits the black Americans whose struggle made his personal road to the White House possible.

"It's important for people to study and learn about this period of history so that we can continue to build on King's work and his philosophy," added Roger Vredeveld, 47, who teaches U.S. and black history in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and went on the tour.

Some analysts have described Obama's victory as ushering in a "post-racial" era, but civil rights activists say there is still much to be done. They point to such crises as Hurricane Katrina in 2005, which revealed deep racial divides, and recurrent cases of police brutality.

Another teacher on the tour, Arthur Romano, cited riots in Oakland, California, after the January 1 shooting of an unarmed 22-year-old black man by a white transit police officer, and said King's non-violent approach would be far more productive.

Oscar Grant's death, he said, "serves as a reminder of how far there is to go, and the need for serious, strategic and long-term community involvement on these issues."

PIC and Armed Forces Inaugural Committee spokespeople will be on hand at the parade rehearsal to answer questions.

Media wishing to attend the parade rehearsal should check in at Freedom Plaza at 13th and E Streets NW at 8:15 a.m.

It has been my perception that what has driven some Americans increasingly in the past two decades has been personal greed; greed not for just money but for power, control, influence, domination, security, knowledge, ideology, ..., all for individual or limited closed association/club benefit. That is not only the mentality of individuals, but of people operating in government and business as well.

We now witness the results of greed by a select few:

Corrupt and special interest government officials who set themselves above as aristocrats regulating government for their own investments or hidden ownerships in companies and organizations. Many who also take bribes and illicit favors from corrupt lobbyists.
Laws are actually written/drafted by who? Do you really think your legislator, congressman, or senator sits down in front of a computer or uses his own pen and paper? Or, did you think it's his staff? It is lobbyists who actually do 99% of the work; work they have vested interests in, to see it is written the way their 'client' wants it worded. Do you as an individual have lobbyists employed by you?
Financial institutions that cheat and steal from the unsuspecting, far beyond the weak laws of usury. Trustworthy? Bank & 'Trust?' Wanna givem another bailout for cheating? It looks like lobbying paid off for the financial 'institutions' (we have all been taught to 'respect?' the term 'institution?', but maybe we are learning).
Insurance Companies that 'legally?' bribe law enforcement, judges, and congress/legislators with grants, equipment gifts, perks, and free trips in order to gain unprecedented influence/control -- everything from mandatory laws, to not or barely paying claims, to price fixing, to all sorts of corrupt and unfavorable methods imposed on individuals. Do most people realize that premiums (a name of 'respect?' for monthly payments you are charged) are used by Insurance Companies to pay for -- grants, equipment gifts, perks and trips as payoffs for public laws, regulations, and controls that the public does not want. It is a form of taxation represented/controlled by insurance companies, not taxation with public representation. It's a twisted form of taxation charged by insurance companies.
Manufacturing barons who import economic slave labor and outsource to slavery.
Pharmaceutical corporations that cover-up sickness and death with misinformation in order to push up profits.
Weapons manufacturers that promote violence, war, and enduring sickness.
Energy companies that monopolize production/prices and cause destructive environmental damage.
American Companies, or those using names, that import/offshore products who turn a deaf ear and blind eye to safety, quality, and poisons.
Service providers that care not about consumers but are strictly money driven, with less regard for employees; employees who suffer with unreasonable demands for performance and who are not paid a living wage.
Private educational institutions that cater to the wealthy who have abandoned the public. The concept for the masses of "let them eat cake"; they will eventually go away from malnutrition of education because it will make them perish; and, those who survive can be the servants.
Suburban Public School administrators in growing housing markets whose actual and hidden agendas are to serve land developers and government aristocrats. They play statistical number games made of fudge, intentionally choking out struggling students by actually encouraging students to drop out or be 'home schooled' by mom or dad. That's how suburban schools 'look' more attractive to potential home buyers, with faked academic 'success' -- faking the 'No Child Left Behind' statistics, a real game, using kids as pawns. But aristocrats brag, statistically they look like they have done a good enough job to re-elect them. And, most importantly to them, they can continue to reap the profits from either the land they own or are financially connected with.
Inner City School administrators in decaying areas that hopelessly cope with being under funded, attracting the poorest quality teachers. Children do not choose to be born into poor families, or choose uncaring parents, nor do they choose parents that are ignorant and uneducated. Do these kids have the hope of opportunity? They are pushed aside as the burdens of a greedy society, in hopes they are not seen nor heard from now or later in life -- good to be used as the pawns in wars, or workers for catering to the wealthy though.
Employees of city/county/state/fed. institutions (schools, universities, jails, prisons, leases/sales of buildings to Gov., contracted services, hospitals, VA facilities,...) who take kickbacks and gifts, in return for higher costs and sweetheart deals with companies often owned by or financially benefiting government aristocrats.
Major colleges and universities chasing the buck by catering to overseas students. They somehow brag of a 40% to 60% foreign enrollment, while American students grasp for help and aid.
Community colleges that are given the leftovers in funds, coping with unrealistic expectations of graduating students or preparing them for major colleges. Even with 100% tuition/books paid, it is unrealistic to expect students to juggle working full time jobs (for food and living) while going to school and studying full time. It is not surprising to see such an astronomically high dropout rate in America. Capitalist have made it clear to students, not to have hopes that are too costly; or, they will import already educated talent. Do wealthy capitalist require students in their families to work full time at low paying jobs while pursuing higher education's? Maybe they simply know it's a story made up for the 'less fortunate', like a fairytale dream, achieved by one to two percent and used as shining examples, stories told to pacify the masses. Those with capital also know, they can hire a well enough educated dropout at a reduced rate to do the job of a graduate, a real bargain.

We could each recite instances far beyond this short list, and it is all for greed. People’s greed has been rooting through our nation and causing so much destruction. Certainly money has been a primary instrument of their greed, but their other instruments of power, control, influence, domination, security, knowledge, ideology, … have all been used to chip away and damage each of us who together form our great nation. With renewed vision and focused determination we will heal and rebuild to become more active and much stronger.

President-Elect Obama to be Sworn in Using the Lincoln Bible
Bible Available for Press Viewing from 11:00 AM to Noon TODAY

Washington, D.C. - On January 20th, President-elect Barack Obama will take the oath of office using the same Bible upon which President Lincoln was sworn in at his first inauguration. The Bible is currently part of the collections of the Library of Congress. Though there is no constitutional requirement for the use of a Bible during the swearing-in, Presidents have traditionally used Bibles for the ceremony, choosing a volume with personal or historical significance. President-elect Obama will be the first President sworn in using the Lincoln Bible since its initial use in 1861.

"President-elect Obama is deeply honored that the Library of Congress has made the Lincoln Bible available for use during his swearing-in," said Presidential Inaugural Committee Executive Director Emmett Beliveau. "The President-elect is committed to holding an Inauguration that celebrates America's unity, and the use of this historic Bible will provide a powerful connection to our common past and common heritage."

The Lincoln Bible will be available for a press viewing between 11:00 AM and Noon today in the Members' Room on the first floor of the Library of Congress' Thomas Jefferson Building at 10 First St. S.E. in Washington, D.C.

Video and still cameras are permitted. Media should allow 10-15 minutes to clear security at the First Street entrance to the Jefferson Building. Clark Evans, who heads the Reference Services Section of the Rare Book and Special Collections Division of the Library of Congress, will also be available at that time to answer questions about the Lincoln Bible and the Library. High-resolution photographs of the Bible are also available upon request. RSVP is not required. Please contact the PIC Communications Office with questions.

The Bible was originally purchased by William Thomas Carroll, Clerk of the Supreme Court, for use during Lincoln's swearing-in ceremony on March 4, 1861. The Lincoln family Bible, which is also in the Library of Congress's collection, was unavailable for the ceremony because it was packed away with the First Family's belongings, still en route from Springfield, IL, to their new home at the White House.

The Bible itself is bound in burgundy velvet with a gold-washed white metal rim around the three outside edges of both covers. All its edges are heavily gilded. In the center of the top cover is a shield of gold wash over white metal with the words "Holy Bible" chased into it. The book is 15 cm long, 10 cm wide, and 4.5 cm deep when closed. The 1,280-page Bible was published in 1853 by the Oxford University Press.

Annotated in the back of the volume, along with the Seal of the Supreme Court, is the following: "I, William Thomas Carroll, clerk of the said court do hereby certify that the preceding copy of the Holy Bible is that upon which the Honble. R. B. Taney, Chief Justice of the said Court, administered to His Excellency, Abraham Lincoln, the oath of office as President of the United States ..."

The Lincoln Inaugural Bible will be on display at the Library of Congress February 12th to May 9th, 2009, as part of an exhibition titled "With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition." The exhibit will then travel to five other American cities. The Library is planning several other events and programming in commemoration of the bicentennial of the birth of the nation's 16th president, who was born on February 12th, 1809.

On March 4, 2009, the 147th anniversary of Lincoln's first inauguration, the Library of Congress will also be convening an all-day symposium with several renowned Lincoln scholars. For more information see the Library of Congress Web site at www.loc.gov.

Presidential Inaugural Parade to Include Peace Corps and AmeriCorps Alumni
Commitment to Community Service Highlighted by Parade Participants, National Day of Service

WASHINGTON - Today, in keeping with its commitment to hold inaugural events that celebrate our common values and reflect our nation's history of community service, President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden's Inaugural Committee officially extended an offer to the Peace Corps Community and AmeriCorps Alums to march in the 56th Inaugural Parade. Members of these service organizations will join representatives from across the country and our Armed Forces in the historic parade down Pennsylvania Avenue following President-elect Obama's swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the Capitol.

"These organizations embody the best of our nation's history, diversity and commitment to service," said President-elect Obama. "Vice President-elect Biden and I are proud to have them join us in the parade."

On Monday, January 19th, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the President-elect and Vice President-elect and their families will join Americans across the nation as they participate in activities dedicated to serving others in their communities. In 1994, Congress passed legislation designating the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday as a national day of community service, and the Presidential Inaugural Committee will be working to encourage participation in service projects nationwide to honor the legacy of Dr. King..

Organizations wishing to participate in the parade submitted an application to the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee (AFIC), which then assisted the Presidential Inaugural Committee in reviewing all of the groups' applications. All told, 1,382 organizations applied to participate, setting a new standard for interest in marching in the parade.

The Peace Corps Community will include members who served with the corps in the 1960s to the present. Marchers will carry the flags of the countries that Peace Corps have served over the years. AmeriCorps Alums will include some of the millions of alumni of national service in this country since John F. Kennedy's call to service and the conception of VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) in 1961.

In addition to these groups, a number of other parade participants also participate in active community service programs. For instance, the Boy Scouts of America Troop 358 from Philadelphia has been serving members of their community for over 55 years, the Jesse White Tumbling Team from Illinois was founded in 1959 to create "hope" for troubled youth, and the Warren County Sheriff's Office Prevention Partnership from Kentucky raises and distributes money to community groups and programs that help kids stay away from drugs and violence.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee was assisted in its selection process by a group of experienced military musicians, who utilized their expertise to help assess the presentation skills of marching bands, musical acts and drill teams.

All participants in the Inaugural Parade are responsible for paying for their own lodging and transportation to and from Washington, D.C. The Committee has been working closely with area governments and civic organizations to facilitate access to affordable accommodations and would like to encourage citizens from across the country to reach out and help the Peace Corps Community and AmeriCorps Alums raise the necessary resources to participate in this historic event.

This is a reminder that the application process for media credentials for the swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, controlled by the Senate media galleries, will end on Monday, December 15, 2008.

We’re six weeks out, and it feels like Inauguration Day is right around the corner. One thing’s for sure: our efforts are really starting to pay off. Let me give you a couple of examples.

Yesterday in New York City the Pickens Plan got another big endorsement. This time it was from the American Lung Association. Think about that. Here we’ve been talking about how developing renewable energies and using cleaner burning natural gas is good for our economy and creates jobs. Come to find out the Pickens Plan is good for your health! I love it. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was also on hand. He’s been a real leader in using renewables and compressed natural gas in his city. I’m glad to have him on our team.

I also want to bring up my visit to Washington last week where I met with the Obama Transition Team. Like everyone else, I’ve been impressed with the way the President-elect has been preparing for his new administration. My father used to tell me, “A fool with a plan can outsmart a genius with no plan any day of the week.” Let me tell you: the Obama team is smart, and they have a plan. The President-elect wants to get us off Middle Eastern oil in 10 years. There’s only one way he can do that, which is why I’m confident that the Pickens Plan will play an important part in the stimulus package he and his team are crafting right now.

I know President-elect Obama is ready to make some big changes. Let’s make sure Congress is too. The Army is 1.37 million strong. Now we need to get ready in every Congressional district, and I need your help.

Senators Feinstein and Bennett Urge DC Government To Reverse Emergency Alcohol Law

WASHINGTON, DC / Senator Dianne Feinstein, Chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), and Senator Bob Bennett, Member of the JCCIC and Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, today urged the Mayor and City Council of Washington, DC to reverse the emergency legislation passed last week to allow bars and restaurants to sell alcohol until 5 am during the week of the inauguration.

“We have reached out to Mayor Fenty and Council Chairman Vincent Gray because of our grave concerns about the unintended consequences of this legislation,” said Senator Feinstein.

“What is clearly meant as a boon to local businesses may instead create tremendous problems for already overwhelmed law enforcement agencies.”

“Security needs to be the number one priority during the Inaugural ceremonies and extending the sale of alcohol until 5 am in DC will only divert law enforcement resources away from their primary focus on security measures and crowd safety,” said Senator Bennett.

Dear Mayor Fenty and Council Chairman Gray:
We are writing today to urge that City Council and the Mayor reverse emergency legislation approved by the Council last week that permits nightclubs, bars and restaurants to sell alcoholic beverages until 5 a.m. for four nights during the Inauguration of Barack Obama as our 44th President.
With projections as high as 4 million people planning to visit the city during this time period, we are deeply concerned that the plan approved by the City Council could seriously strain law enforcement resources that need to be focused on the large crowds and security requirements of the Inaugural and its impact on the City.
There is great cause for celebration at this historic event. But we believe that the benefits of this emergency legislation, passed with little public notice, are far outweighed by its possible consequences.
We understand the pressures you face from the different constituencies in your city. But we also know the importance of standing firm to ensure the safety of residents, workers and visitors who will be in Washington, D.C., participating in this historic event.”

What can we as citizens do to bring about real change? I believe (just my opinion) that one thing we as ordinary citizens can do is to educate ourselves. I think the news media does not do a good job of simply reporting the news. There is a great deal of commentary on the news shows which tends to color our views of what is going on in the world. It is dangerous to listen to our favorite news shows and adopt the opinions of the personalities on the show. So, how can I get straight reporting on the Who, What, When, and Where, of the news so that I can draw my own opinions of the Why? I don't know, but I wish I did.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference.

Historic 2008 Election is Finale to a Forgoten 60s Era

In the midst of this historic election, I can’t help but wonder whether an Obama presidency might represent a “finale” to the 60s movement that we never had. I mean, it has only been in recent years that the 1960s have been ramticized by youth and marketers eager to capitalize on its popularity. Obama's rise to the presidency is an American story brought about in large part by the revolution of thwe 1960s. But it wasn’t romantic by any stretch of the imagination. It wasn’t about selling hamburgers and cars in cool clothes. It was real. It was a difficult period in our history. We nearly had a nuclear war with Cuba and Russia. Kennedy was assassinated. There was the civil rights showdown on segregation in schools. The 1965 riots. Then a worsening Vietnam War and mandatory draft of young men, many going to their deaths for a war that had no direction and could not be won. Martin Luther King was assassinated. Robert Kennedy as well. Americans began to leave their churches, pareticularly, the Catholic church. Young people began resisting and demonstrating. Then there were the Kent State shootings of eight students by the Ohio National Guard. For a kid growing up in the 1960s, it was a lot to absorb.

By the mid-1970s, the Vietnam War, the 60’s activism, and Nixon presidency were over. The country seemed at a loss for direction. I was in college then. Our chief concern was in the nuclear arms buildup in trying to keep up with Russia. I recall numerous pieces in the news then how the world might end by 2008. I actually dropped out of pre-med in part because of a lack of confidence that I (and we in the U.S.) would not have a certain future. As it turns out, we did. But the manner in which it was done has become one of short sighted, weak leadership.

The country merely “moved on” from the 60s. We didn’t get it! It's like we took a “stupid pill” and forgot everything we had gone through between 1962 and 1974 - threw away our notes, and forgot to formalize conclusions that we could follow in years to come. As a result, the 70s were extraordinarily dismal economically and culturally. The leadership of both major political parties was “milk toast.” I mean, “disco” became the highlight of that critical period. That should tell you something. In 2008, we face history with the opportunity to elect a black President. Yet, some in this country who might oppose a black President for the color of his skin never "got it" from the 60s.

By the 1980s when Ronald Reagan took office, he brought a new and different course to economic and military progress. The country was amiss in problems in the Middle East and Russia. Reagan introduced trickle-down economics that sparked a new economic era, but it included cuts in needed government services and in exchange ushered in a new more accomodating view of U.S. corporate mergers and acquisitions, the real beginning of today’s deregulation that in my view led to the excesses that brought down our financial markets and economy in 2008. Despite economic prosperity in the 1980s, it was “politically incorrect” to bring up the 60s in reflection. Political candidates and business leaders frequently denounced their 60s involvement in order to become successful businessmen. Still others ended up on the street as Vietnam War Vets with PTSD and similar disorders. They and others became the illegitamate offspring of a difficult, revolutionary, and defining period in American history. Depending on who you asked, you would hear either good and bad views of this period.

By the mid to late 80s, the country had seen fairly widespread growth and prosperity, except for the forgotten war vets and increasingly crowded and poorer inner cities like Los Angeles and New York City, that had been left out of the economic expansion as companies took jobs and fled the inner cities in huge numbers for the suburbs and first wave of outsourcing with cheap foreign labor. At that time, no one figured there would be a sizable unrest just a few years later in the 1992 Los Angeles riots. We weren’t looking for it. We had Bruce Springtein, the very successful 1984 Olympics, the expansion of professional sports, the fall of the Berlin Wall, with Russia right behind it. But per the stresses released in the 1992 riots, there were siginificant pentup issues, and arguably abandonment. Also, by 1992 the U.S. and particularly California, was in the grips of a sizable recession.

Somehow - we got through the 1992 riots and that recession. And by the late 90s, we had the tech boom, NAFTA, and more outsourcing of jobs. It wasn’t real apparent, but there was a growing divide between the middle class. A lot of people lost money when the tech boom went bust, yet it gave us insight into new and creative funding of economic expansion, including, new and creative tools to fund the economy, particularly, “derivatives.” Real estate values soon began growing at a never before seen pace. Life in the U.S. between 2002 and 2006 was all about money, and how an average Joe Homeowner could pull from their home, like an ATM or slot machine. But with this period, was increasing homelessness and poverty, and failed opportunities to invest in our nation’s infrastructure and new technologies. We “jacked off the dogs to feed the cats” so recklessly, that when we woke up, we realized the dogs had died and much of everything else was starving. By 2007, an ugly handwriting was on the wall. But, Wall Street gurus responded with increasingly brazen attempts to spin and create money. Then came the news of Bear Stearns, and the 1st governemt bailout.

For too long as a nation, we have ingored the obvious, our people, our infrastructure, our sick and needy - and all in exchange for leveraged riches for just a few. And now our ways have caught up with us. But, I must correct myself here. I was NOT a part of this reckless economic expansion. Since 1992, I’ve been undergoing a series of brain surgeries to get a shunt to correctly relieve fluid pressure on my brain. During this period, my life, health, and recovery were blocked by Wall Street and FDA level failures and coverups of safety issues with a popular CNS shunt device. Yes - I was sold out for Wall Street riches - just like many of you. Brain shunts are big business. In order for me to have any hope for a future, I had to become a health advocate, FDA policy and law expert, a neuroscientist, an expert in artificial intelligence, and an inventor of a diagnostic shunt test. But no matter what I did, it was never good enough. On every occassion, I had to fight Wall Street influences. In fact, I directed my 2 most successful surgeries. But, it’s taken me 7 surgeries in all, including, my recent successful surgery in May of 2008 that finally relieved the swelling on my brain, albeit after 16 years. Why 16 years? It took that long to convince the powers that be on the right way to implant shunts, as well as numerous supportive scientive papers I had written. I nearly got my shunt of today implanted back in 1998. On that occassion, the FDA stopped me. Then, on numerous times since, each and every neurosurgeon I saw was somehow affiliated with a (Wall Street) shunt company, whose shunts all failed me. So - I am kind of like those in the inner city. Like those being drawn in or brought here illegally to work for cheaper wages than a residing American. I am an American, disenfranchised and deprived of life and liberty by today's Wall Street and its influences. Now, as much as half of the country has also been disenfranchised albeit by the same dishonest mechanism. Yes - in September/ October 2008, shit hit the fan in the U.S., and government and business leaders who had prided themselves on deregulation, low taxes, and outsourcing were brought to their knees - and in the balance, a nation waits, eager for any hope of new leadership. And, then came Senator Barrack Obama.

Yes - I had a vision today of what was, and what could again be. A proud and homogenious America, an accomplished nation. I saw Barrack Obama at the helm. I believe the excitement that so many see is that of an Obama presidency and the prospects that we might once again reconnect with our past, perhaps in a revolutionary type of way as I expect the change and resulting progress to be unharalded per any other era in our history. And we need this. We need this to help us better understand who we are as Americans, and the course we must plot in moving ahead. With the ascention of Barrack Obama as our favored next President, I couldn't think of a better "finale" and tribute to an era and movement I and others knew as the "60s."

So, with this critical election so close at hand, I again choose "us," just as I did in the 1960s.

The Final Debate is over. Senator Obama was the overall winner, and his performance reminded me of Tiger Woods, who knows when to shoot a par and when to go for the birdie, especially when he is ahead and it's Sunday on the ninth hole. The next strategy -- the only one the McCain camp has left -- is to make a case for the perils of having a democratic Congress and a Democratic President. The Independents and the uncommitted were looking for a McCain win of the final debate; what they got was a laughable, and I mean that literally, performance full of grimaces, grunts, thinly veiled anger and contempt for Senator Obama. Um, memo to Senator McCain: Just a few talking points as you round out the final push:

-- Palin is a Governor not a Senator, as you referred to her last night.

-- Palin's child has Down's syndrome not Autism.

-- You must have forgotten your own senatorial voting record.

-- You really should have vetted Joe the plumber before you used and reused him as an example of the average American, given that he is NOT registered to vote, has some personal/financial/legal issues that were not ready for primetime, and is not a licensed plumber.

-- And finally, perhaps a few anger management classes may beneficial; life is too short to be that angry all the time.

What I have determined, after reading the interview of Gayle Quinell, after watching the videos of the people in Palin/McCain rallies, that these people have neither the capacity nor the desire to hear the truth. They don't want the truth, they want to be right, they want to believe that "White is right." And that is frightening when combined with the delusional behavior of Sarah Palin, who simply does not understand that she does not understand, comprehend or has the faintest idea as to what she has done wrong in Alaska, what harm she is doing in this country with her focus on making lies become the truth by continual repetition. Palin is incredibly dangerous to this country on so many levels. Just don't ask Elisabeth Hasselback of the View, who has begun to sound like a McCain batteried Stepfor d wife, since she cannot see past her own convictions to consider that she might be wrong. And the McCain campaign is not stopping Palin. Even the conservatives are giving pause to what has become a bizarre side show and an almost surreal soap opera-level drama.

There is a saying that character is what you are when no one else is in the room. I received a forwarded e-mail, which I don't always open nowadays because I get so many. But I decided to open this one. At first I thought: This has to be a made up story, it's too good to be true. So I decided to fact check, sure that I would be proven right. I wasn't. I think this story simply reinforced my view of Barack Obama, when it comes to his character. When all is said and done, it is character, intelligence, ethics and courage to follow your vision for the greater good that will be the qualities imperative within the next President of this country. As I watched this final debate, watch the anger, contempt and something close to hatred ooze from behind the fairly transparent mask that John McCain wore, I knew that the people of this country will have a choice to make about changing their internal paradigms and beliefs in order to come to the same conclusion I have. This is too important to get hung up on skin color or perceptions that are not reality. And try as they will not to do so, it is encouraging to see the slow shift in attitudes.

Those who follow my writings know what I have said about polls. Believe it or not, I think that it is even more important now than ever before that you DO NOT GET COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT THE POLLS SAY. POLLING IS A BIASED SOURCE OF INFORMATION, THAT IS EITHER INTENTIONALLY OR UNINTENTIONALLY MISLEADING. The reason for so many polls that are being referenced on every news media available, is that there is a psychological effect of political poll information. There is an inherent part of a human being that likes to be on the winning team. So when someone hears polling statistics, one of three things occurs: 1) They pay no attention to the information, because their individual choice is based upon other factors. 2) they actually use the poll statistics to decide how to vote, JUST to be on the side they perceive to be the winning side or 3) They decide not to vote at all because the polls say their choice is going to lose so what's the use. So here are some reality checks you need to put into place when it comes to polls: No one really tells us who they are polling and how many people were polled, and what questions were asked to get the information. You see, I know from experience that many pollsters/surveyors ask questions in a way that will yield the answer desired by the client. That means the questions are biased. While there are different points of view on the number Next there has to be at least 500 responses if the statistics are to reflect the opinion of a large group of people. And no one tells me who they asked or how many. Here's an example: on last night's news, the local television station in Indiana stated that their poll indicated that Obama had 47% of the votes, McCain 44%. This is a traditionally red state, so this was news. So imagine my surprise when watching CNN this morning and their polls showed McCain with 45% of the votes and Obama with 41% (I may be off by a point). Two different polls, one state, huge disparity. Confirmed for me that polls mean nothing. And now that the polls show Senator Obama with a double-digit lead, you should be even more focused, not less on getting family, friends and neighbors to the polls EARLY, to make sure they have the best opportunity to vote, and/or to find out if anything about their eligibility has been mis-handled, while there is time to fix it. November 4th will not be the day to resolve any individual voter problem.

DO not get this twisted. We have to take this seriously enough to make sure that every single vote is counted, every one we can reach out to votes. We need to stay focused on making sure we get out the voters on or before November 4th, and then make sure every vote is counted so volunteer to monitor the polls, volunteer to drive people to the polls to vote.We have to take this seriously enough to make sure that every single vote is counted, every one we can reach out to votes. Forget the polls, forget the noise. Every vote counts this time. Until November 4th nothing is in the bag and we cannot assume that the worst in this country will not happen. Tell your friends, families, peers that they must, must, must make sure that they VOTE. Our country's future depends on it.

In 1955, when racism was still a big issue in the United States of America, Ella Fitzgerald became the first African-American to perform at the Mocambo, after Marilyn Monroe had lobbied the owner for the booking. The booking was instrumental in Fitzgerald's career. Marilyn would promise the owner that she would appear every night (and be on time), and this way also fill the house--and she did, she was there every night, and she filled the house and: she was always on time! Their close friendship lasted for many years and Ella would sing Marilyn Monroe's famous 'My Heart Belongs To Daddy'in honor of her wonderful friend Marilyn Monroe, who died almost 34 years before she passed on in 1996, at age 79.

She was considering to adopt a baby, in 1962, shortly before her untimely death and decades before it became almost 'fashionable' for Hollywood actresses to adopt kids.
Marilyn Monroe was her time ahead, always.

Ella Fitzgerald & Marilyn Monroe, in 1955 (above) and in 1962, (below), the year Marilyn Monroe passed away. In 1955, when racism was still a big issue in the United States of America, Ella Fitzgerald became the first African-American to perform at the Mocambo, after Marilyn Monroe had lobbied the owner for the booking. The booking was instrumental in Fitzgerald's career. Everyone who's registered to vote MUST get to the polls early and cast his vote. If you do not have a ride call the office of the candidate and ask about transportation early. This is the most important date in our lives outside - getting married, getting baptized and going to our proms.

Expect the negative campaign to go into full gear starting this week and into the final days of the campaign. Everyone involved in going to bat for Obama has to be aware that it's going to get very dirty. A drowning man will catch at a straw so expect McCain-Bush-Palin to get in the trenches and grovel in the dirt.

As supporters of Obama, we have do his dirty work for him so that he can stay above the fray. We can get into the trenches on his behalf. Be the good "community organizers" that we are. Call your neighbors, call your alumni, call your friends, get your friends to call their friends, Digg, go on facebook, myspace, youtube and do whatever you have to GET OUT THE VOTE.

They have machines that are malfunctioning in Colorado and Florida so we have to get a big lead in the polls to foil their attempt at another 2004 fraud elections. Pass around this link to everyone you know that's undecided.

Leave nothing to chance - I have answered several questions on Yahoo Answers to dispel some of the lies and deceptions that were floating around on the Internet but I am sure there are more to come. Expect them to rekindle talk about Obama's faith and to try more fearmongering.
