Obama and Social Media

I'm doing a research paper for my English II course on the innovative use of social media (Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, my.barackobama.com, etc) in the Obama campaign, and the effect it'll have on future political campaigns. For the fieldwork section of my paper I've decided to run a survey past people on various social networking sites.

If you could take a little bit of time to answer even just a few of my questions it would be greatly appreciated.

1.) How do you think the use of social media has helped the Obama campaign?

2.) Was the accessability of information about Obama on the internet helpful for you when deciding which candidate you would support?

3.) Are you involved with the Obama campaign on any other social networking sites? If yes, which ones?

4.) Have you contributed to the Obama campaign (donations, volunteering, spreading the word, etc.)? If yes, how, and did the internet and/or social media make it easier for you to get involved?

5.) Do you think that internet campaigning helped Obama reach voters?

6.) Do you think that in the future more candidates will use the internet and social media extensively in their campaigns?

End Now the Failed Drug War

The drug war has failed. It’s Victims come from all walks of life with one thing in common: the drugs they chose to use are illegal. We need to shift our "attack" from Persecution to Education & Treatment.

There has been NO Significant Decrease in drug use since this miserable program was enacted in 1971. And the cost… $50 billion a year (Prevention + Enforcement + Legal Adjudication + Correctional Facilities) For 36 year we have been punishing our citizens, sending them away from their loved ones; their families, their support groups. I ask to what end?

We need to start an honest discussion with ourselves and most importantly the young people in this country. “If you do this drug, this will happen” “If you get behind the wheel when drunk/high, this will happen” “If you take too many prescription pills, this will happen” “If you drink too much, this will happen” and most importantly “Yes, marijuana is a drug, but it’s effect is much less that other

Is full decriminalization the answer? I’m not sure, but lumping marijuana in with Heroin and other harder drugs doesn’t make sense to me. Also, Mandatory Minimum sentencing has proved to be a bad policy… go ask any Judge.

Here is one idea of mine: Take the Hard drugs off the street and make them available at drug stores. In order to purchase you will have to take a course to educate yourself on the dangers of drug use. Once you have completed the course you will get a stamp on your driver license’s permitting you to purchase drugs. The license will only be valid for a set number of years at which time you must take a refresher course…. (Politicians; think of the Tax money you can make)

Thousands of miles from my space, a change is happening that will be recorded forever in history. The Americans have made a daring choice of going beyond the race and prioritizing what they all missed for the past 8 years: A leader that would bring them the pride that they deserve.

But how does that affect my life here? Obviously, foreign policy was among the least priorities that concerned the Americans when they voted. Ofcourse. Their country is in an economic turmoil. Economy should come first. But how are they concerned about the world's most conflict-ridden region, and one of the most furtile land for terrorism ? The Middle East awaits daring steps from the Obama administration, and though personally I do not expect much, there are a few things that make me feel a bit more secure:

Obama is willing to talk with Iran...and to pull the troops out of Iraq.

The world has to understand that the Middle East is a highly religiously oriented region. Religious divides, tensions and civic strifes have been going on ever since the war on Iraq started. Do we need a new conflict to highten the already-spiced-up tensions? Any war with Iran would be a recipe for a regional religious divide in the Middle East. Severe consequences follow that. And for someone like me living in a coutnry like Lebanon, where religion defines you and your weight in power, any thought of a conflict with Iran would make me feel like running away from this place. Even if I have to live in some kind of far-away-in-the-middle-of-nowhere island, its much safer than staying in a community fueled by religious tensions. I've been having that feeling for the past 5 years ever since the war on Iraq started. Thanks to Bush, bloodshed is all over the place in this region, and religious Sunni-Shiite divides have been materialized and people feel increasingly insecure more than anytime before. The fact that Obama plans to have a non-offensive, less-agressive attitude towards the issues at stake here make me feel *a bit more safe* to stay in My Space for the coming few years.

Apart from that, I do not expect much of a change. I'm clearly aware that neither my country nor the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is on top of Obama's priorities for his term. I am aware that we will be receiving less American attention...and I thank God for that. *sigh*

Earlier this morning I chatted with my friend on MySpace comparing notes on our campaign participation during this final weekend. I told her that after the third debate concluded on October 15th, I stepped up my involvement by volunteering and donating more money. She said that she was canvassing neighborhoods. Immediately after this exchange, I donated money to the campaign. Obama needs as much money as possible to run advertisements in Ohio (the author's home state with 21 electoral votes!), Virginia, Arizona, Montana and North Dakota. The pollsters have updated McCain's home state from solid to leaning McCain meaning that Barack can steal this win! Furthermore, Montana and North Dakota, once Republican strongholds are up for grabs! Putting these states into the Democratic column is the first step towards dissolving the lunatic fringe radical Christian Right grip in the mountain states. Finally, winning these smaller states cushion the fall if McCain wins either Ohio, Virginia or Florida.

I am a late comer in actually registering with the Obama site and exploring what is here. It has been a true pleasure reading all the posts from like minded people. Until now I have felt like an army of one sounding the alarm, righting the wrongs, arguing with my friends, etc. etc. So it is good to see everyone.

That said... remember that when we speak here we speak primarily to ourselves. Everyone should cross-post interesting things found here, and certainly anything you write, to Facebook, MySpace and the other social networks. No one here is undecided... but some of our friends may be and they need to know the depth and rationale of our support for change.

Here's What I'm Doing

We need to get as many people registered to vote as humanly possible, and fast (since the deadline to register is only a couple of weeks away in many of the swing states). In some states like North Dakota and New Hampshire, this isn't really necessary. In North Dakota there is no voter registration. You simply go to the polls on election day and vote! In New Hampshire (and maybe a few other states as well) you can register *at* the polling place the day you go to vote. But sadly, in most states, this isn't the case. So we need to get the word out to as many potential UNregistered voters that they need to register. And then obviously the big trick after doing that will be to get them to actually VOTE on November 4. But first things first. I'm trying to get as many people to register as I can. One of my Myspace profiles has almost 12,000 friends. So, what I'm doing is this: I'm using a program that I got online called Spyder. It makes commenting on your Myspace friends' pages quick and easy. You can send out hundreds of comments a day, in fact (I try to keep mine under 400 because I believe Myspace might freeze your account if you do too many in one day). The comments are simple but (hopefully) effective "Register to Vote!" pleas that include Shepard Fairey's great "Rock the Vote" poster but that link to Barack Obama's "Vote for Change" website for voter registration/polling information. So far I have gone through all of my friends and have commented on those that live in such battleground states as Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Colorado and I still plan on doing many more. With an average of 200 or 300 friends in each state, I hope to get out the word to a few thousand people that they should register to vote and then hit them up one more time the week before the election with a follow-up graphic/comment. Online networking like this can work wonders in helping to get Obama elected if enough of us do it. Sites like Myspace, Facebook, LinkedIn, Ning networks, etc. are designed to help people communicate and network, so use them for that at this time and for this purpose!

One of the things which impresses me most about Obama's campaign is it's reach on the internet. The campaign has activists everywhere I go, and I love it. I love it so much, in fact, that I'm now agressively a part of it, and there are great opportunities we can focus on together. One of these opportunities is Facebook. Sure, Barack has an excellent presence already, but one official presence was missing... the "Causes" application.

The Causes application provides a way for you to support and even donate to any cause you believe in. Are you going Green? Join the cause! Saving water by drinking beer? Join the cause! And now, thanks to efforts by Facebook user Susan Gordon, Facebook users all over the country can donate directly to the campaign, recruit their friends, and show their positive impact on the campaign right on their Facebook profile. Since its creation, the Obama for President Cause has recruited 55,000 Facebook users and has raised several thousand dollars directly to the campaign.

I'm a partisan Democrat and I'm proud of it. Today, I spent my Labor Day watching the Sarah Palin Circus on the TV. Republicans, so quick to condemn everyone, are now the ones standing on the edge of a teetering plank, ready to begin their Big Show. But the trapeze is blowing in a hurricane and the Family Values net is proving to be made from silly putty.

No one in our political system is more righteous than a Republican with political leverage on some liberal accused of high moral failings. Most of the time, those high moral failings are the smallest of incidents, whipped up into a rampaging firestorm, a white hot Dresden-like frenzy of condemnation and outrage coming from the Right.

Already in this Presidential campaign we've seen it again and again, with Michelle Obama's supposed lack of patriotism, Barack's alleged ties to terrorists, the absence of a flag pin on his shirt. Such small little nits, which dispassionately and honestly amount to little more than a hill of beans, instead in the heat of moral outrage and righteous Conservative condemnation turn into leaping pyres burning from one end of the media dial to the other.

Now, with the appointment of Sarah Palin to be John McCain's Vice President, it's the Republicans who are caught in a growing firestorm of failings, taking punishment today for the same kind of political sins they so gleefully piled on to Democrats for in the past. Now that the political shoe is on the other foot, the airwaves are filled with the whines of Republican pundits, trying to scrap the moose pie mess from their Gucci shoes. The Sarah Palin circus has come to the Twin Cities and as a partisan Democrat I'm loving every minute of it.

John McCain has yet to admit it, but choosing Sarah Palin to be his V.P. was the political equivalent of Houdini shackling himself to concrete, then getting underwater and realizing he left the key in the glove box of the car. For Democrats, though, she's the gift that keeps on giving. Barack is taking the high road concerning Palin's 17-year old daughter and it's only right that he should do so. But after more than 10 years of Vince Foster Clinton murder madness, flying monkey assualts on Al Gore for "inventing" the internet, and more recently, the screaming hordes of Hannityites with torches and sickles in hand, howling at the moon over Jeremiah Wright, I'm ready to pop some popcorn and settle in for the gleeful ride of watching Sarah Palin self-destruct and take the Hindenburg GOP down with her.

Those social networking sites have the biggest audiences around. To omit them from the election process would be foolhardy. As most youngsters use the social networks to communicate with one another and to socialise in every sense, there are at least 5 reasons why those young voters are likely to be galvanised by the connection to participate in the 2008 election..

First, linking the candidates to these network sites aid understanding of the issues, the positions and the electoral process, at the very least, even if it doesn't invigorate them as such. One cannot appreciate the value of something until it is understood. By bringing the campaign directly to network users, in their own community, it has a better chance of being regarded favourably. Many young voters would make the effort to become engaged in the process when they might not have bothered otherwise.

Without A Doubt Barack Obama Will Be President

It was a cold Wednesday morning in November 1998 I was at home from work because I had suffered a tremendous headache over the weekend. It was around 10:30 a.m. when I started feeling a little numbness in my legs, I tried to get up and couldn’t it was as if they were paralyzed. I yelled out for my husband to help me and the next thing I knew I was awaken in the hospital and was told by my husband and the doctors that a blood clot in my brain had formed and it was leaking (brain aneurysm) and that they need to operator immediately or I would die.

The doctor also told my family there is a 50/50 chance that I would survive the surgery and if I do I may be disabled. Thank God the surgery was a success. The recovery was the hard part with learning how to walk, talk and function again. The migraines and memory loss was challenging and of course the DEPRESSION. I felt guilt that I survive and didn't know what was my purpose for being here.

I just couldn’t find my purpose and it was eating at me that I got so depress that I retreated into myself and couldn’t function.

Well today I am here to tell you I have found my purpose, I heard Senator Obama speak, I was watching something on my TV set at home and I heard his voice coming from another set that my husband was watching and he captured my attention and I became mesmerized it’s as if Senator Obama he spoke as if he had this sensitivity in him as if he understood and he felt what America is going through i see this bright light shining around he has touched my soul and I said I found my calling my purpose this man is going to be the next president and I have survived to bare witness to this and not only that I am going to be a part of it, because I am going to help by putting in whatever time I have to make it happen.

Today is a new day to bring about a change and I am here to witness it and you can be a part of it also, I hope whoever read my blog that it may make you at least think about a new day, a change AND KNOW THAT NOVEMBER WILL BE 10 YEARS TO THE DAY THAT I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE AND THAT SENATOR OBAMA WILL BE PRESIDENT AND I WILL BEAR WITNESS TO IT.

From choosing a partner to choosing a fashionable item, we are exercising the prejudice of accepting one thing while rejecting another. So we are all guilty of exercising prejudice in some form and we all have our prejudices relating to lifestyle and culture.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD - THE INSPIRITED PRESIDENT

The Presidential debate has brought a few things into the realm of The Spirit that has not touched this country in a long, long time. The reason why I say that is in times past and even recently I have talked to Pastor's that said they do not vote because it is in GOD'S hands. My statement back to these kind is this: GOD put a vote in your hand, Please go make a GODLY VOTE FOR THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

How can one dare claim he is of GOD and not choose to make it clear that they want a CHILD of GOD running this country. If this is a Judeo-Christian Nation go and place your GODLY INSPIRED VOTE.

The word Inspirited is derived from the words "Inspired and Spirit" if you have not noticed. I wanted to make that clear before I we get any further in to this "man of low degree's" teaching.

The reason I share this is because I need a little break from the spiritual warfare that has taken place in my life lately. What I must do is go back and consult with my peer, The Rock of Salvation, The Ever lasting and Inspiring Spirit of GOD. When I come to the conclusion that I have grown thereby I will get back to sharing with the Media that things that need to be. Until then I choose to share on myspace the things concerning THE KINGDOM OF GOD at hand. I am willing and able to take on a slap in the face and continue in THE WORD OF TRUTH.

What happens with most people in this world just as it does me we allow things into our lives and before we know it they have become our life. Another thing that takes place is the simple act of working with people and giving the "Benefit of doubt" then coming to the realization they were mocking you the whole time. This is called busy-bodies and ankle-biters or rather backbiters.

Why does this world have to be this way?

Some either give up and run from this and some choose to take it on violently. I choose to take it on rather spiritually by The Word and it will win every time. It may feel like I have or rather the Word has bruised the head but it should be a simple "check yourself" for your own good. What does take place is this. Either the person becomes a better friend because they realize their faults or the person runs off and prepares a vengeful retaliation. I have been guilty of the latter myself so don't take me wrong. Today I choose to "check myself" and see my faults. That is when I am better able to help those in need.

How can a person say they serve GOD if they are taking a vengeful retaliation of another child of The Living GOD of Life and Creation of all things? They can't be. They can only be influenced by the other spiritual side, that evil side, and that is where we must have THE CONVERSION from Death Unto Life. That my friends is The Conversion Jesus Spoke of. It is not a physical battle that is gonna get us anywhere and I am sure Dr. King's life story was enough for every man, woman, and child to learn from. I choose to live his dream while on this earth because it was an INSPIRITED DREAM without a doubt. That Inspirited Dream was the very words Jesus The Christ spoke some 2000 years ago.

Now to the Presidential Campaign. How can we put this Inspirited action to the Analogy test?

One can simply look to any sporting event or writing for that matter and see such things. There has been so many games won by inspiration and books inspired by THE LIVING GOD that has changed the world as we know it. The Gospel of Jesus is the perfect testimony of this truth Faith.

Does the Plan always work is the question we must ask ourselves this day?

Let's take for instance a football game. The quarterback leads the team out of the huddle with his plan in place. How many times have you seen an inspired quarterback draw up his plan that was sent in from the sidelines and during the course of the play he had to make a split second decision that changed the outcome of the game? Did he do it on his own or did he do it by The Will of the spirit within? I think by now you can answer that for yourself. It takes but a second to win or a second to lose but what it comes down to is who the quarterback get's the ball to. Sometimes even that person is inspired to move down the field and flip it to another one on the run. The Cal and Stanford game years ago where the band had already made it's way to the field should be a fine example of such a thing. The game that Doug Flutie threw the "hail mary" pass in the Miami game was another simple act of Inspiration influenced by the spirit of faith within. Some win and some lose but we are all on this field together and the whole world is watching.

Just what Presidential Candidate has these traits. What candidate is inspiring and has Faith in GOD. What candidate has the ability to get the ball rolling and I do not mean the bowling ball but the spiritual side of We The People? I will let you decide for yourself but I want to share more first.

Lou Dobbs said it best with his panel. We have finally agreed on something: WE ARE IN TROUBLE.

That was the final conclusion to him and his panel.

If that be the case and it surely looks that way we had better get ready for what is to come.

The President that we must be seeking to have sworn in on that day in Jan. should not only express these abilities but have the motivational skills to do just what a quarterback or writer is all about. Take the job market for instance or the housing plan that is drawn up by any of the 3. If the plan does not work he or she better have the ability to inspire and guide by the spirit of faith We The People into making that quick change. From what I have seen The Big Plan that has been in place for many years now has failed us and will never work. Politics itself is failing each and every day. There is no way we should be having 2 candidates out there on the field making mistakes while another set's back and racks in the points. There should be no way that someone who is on the outside should be able to come in a disrupt the whole campaign in the middle of a crisis and call himself or herself "A Jump In". We have got to change the way Washington is doing things from the top all the way to the bottom and the President in place will have to be able to inspire the people to rally along side and change the Laws as we know them.

THEY SIMPLY DO NOT WORK and have failed us as a country. Is it right for a lobbyist to stand in the pulpit with his or her All MIGHTY DOLLAR waving from the hand and influence a president to change a law that does not benefit every person in this country? No and that needs to stop. That is what has ruined this country.

What we are getting ourselves into is certain destruction if we do not get the right person for the Job who is willing to take calculated and inspirited choices that will rally We The People and Be for The People of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Once again you must ask yourself. Who is the one candidate who consistently inspires people by the spirit within. When you have figured that out then you will know for sure who deserves to be the next PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

I still would like to let all the media know that I am stepping back for a moment of peace. I need to regenerate my cells and my Spirit in some more truth. I have asked myself this one question many times. What in the world did I do to draw so much attention to me? How can one man come from out of the Dark and get attacked but at the same time get inspired by others to continue to press on. I have felt really bad about it at times and I have felt really good at times so the final answer has come. It must be THE INSPIRITED FAITH IN GOD that I have obtained. That is a special prize and no one comes in last or in first when it comes to THE GIFTS OF THE LIVING GOD. We must all share and share alike because we are NOT GODS but we must be LIKE HIS SON who gave himself not only for me but for all mankind and womankind. Our Loving GOD who saw that man was trying to be like Himself and be a "little g", a little god unto himself, said because I am merciful and a loving GOD I will give you My son, please stop trying to be like me but be just like My SON. In so doing you will not see death but rather have life eternally and that my friends is the way it ought to be. You ladies and gentlemen need to stop that being mean lol, because:

You know when you watch a movie that touches you, for a brief time you're inspired to be a better person. Or, your eyes have been forever opened to things you never knew. Sometimes, you see in the characters a little of your struggles, and the connection with that person on the screen is indescribable.

Those are all the things I've felt as I've read through Mr. Barack Obama's Audacity of Hope. There is too much to talk about in just one post, so through the next few weeks, I plan to write not only here, but in my myspace blog as well, the ways in which I've been inspired. If this only inspires one or two more people - I will have succeeded in starting a chain of inspiration of my own.

Greetings my friends in the name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST,

When I place my thoughts on the Heavens above the messages I share come at me in whirl-winds. They come so fast I can not write them down much less type them all.

I received an email about John Lennon a while back and all this person had to say was about what John Lennon and the Beatles were at one time. My reponse back to them was simple and short and I guess it ran them off. I responded back with, "You do not know what the Heart of John Lennon was the day he died"

I have placed his song in my music player today to go along with "THE MESSAGE OF PEACE"

What did Jesus teach us about peace-makers?

Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Just what takes place in the lives of THE CHILDREN OF GOD when they seek peace?

With the day of Dec 21st, 2012 twelve coming up on us like a Lion we must put Faith In God that THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH has opened the book and the seals of it.

When that day comes there will be a change on earth as the Sun Crosses that spot of a space of about a half an hour.

What we must do as a Nation and A People on earth is teach THE MESSAGE OF PEACE on earth and good-will to all men, women, and children.

A lady told me one day that only men make it to Heaven. I really felt sorry for her that she said that. I tried to stop her and teach her the truth but she would not listen. She just walked on and jumped in her car and ignored me.

What did I do? I simply went on about the business GOD has put forth and confirmed by His Son Jesus, The next person I spoke to was GLAD and REJOICED in it. He was a Guatemalan and had never heard the message before. He started to tell me about his church and I said I would be glad to come share this message at your church. Soon I will do this and THANKS BE TO GOD I CAN.

We all have this same message in us if we would only TRUST IN GOD and HAVE THE FAITH OF THE MUSTARD SEED JESUS TAUGHT.

When Jesus walked the Earth he taught The Kingdom Of GOD at hand. He never harmed a man nor was there any evil in him. He cast out devils by The Spirit Of GOD and said The Kingdom Of GOD has come unto you.

Whatever we choose to do as a People On Earth we must understand that GOD will do what he chooses. If we choose to not live peaceful he will enforce peace by The Word Of His Mouth.

So tell me, if we all serve the same GOD why do we mark any man? We must not do this, we must as our example JESUS THE CHRIST taught us 2000 years ago. Because of "The Message of Peace" he was persecuted. However not only did Jesus warn us of THE COMING RETURN, GOD has shared it with us all the way thru the OLD TESTEMENT to THE END OF THE NEW.

With that day approaching we have noticed a change on earth and the people in it. This is no joke and we must grasp ahold of what GOD has said. What has sadden us this day is that the Mayans taught of the day and NO one cares to listen to what GOD has said about the day.

No matter how you look at it, GOD will do what he will do that day and we can not change it. What we must do as a "People On Earth" is stop "Marking A Man" and robbing the poor of what they have with teachings of GIVE unto GOD money and he will give unto you more money. That is not what GOD has taught us.

Jesus confirms this teaching of giving to THE POOR, not give to the rich and GOD will give you more. We must go give to the poor. Go seek out a poor man on the corner or under a bridge or even in his or her own home and "GIVE THEM A CHANCE". Not only will GOD see our good works that he has shed in our hearts but they will see our good works and GLORIFY OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.

The Message of Peace has been choked for some 2000 years and we must start sharing it again. If we do not start giving what GOD gave us and confirmed by His Son Jesus The Christ he will not give us anymore. There will be NO MANNA in the desert to feed the flock of GOD. TIME FOR A REAL CHANGE

Greetings in the name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST,

What I would like to share with America today is what has been destroying this country since its conception. I pray that The Obama Campaign does not mind this blog. This is something that America needs to know. I am white skinned man with Native American Blood of the Choctaw Tribe.

When this campaign first started I was totally for The Obama's and I had been posting things on Myspace and email things to friends. What happened next was nothing less than straight deceit by myspace and the email severs I have used.

The very day I posted something that gave my support to The Obama campaign I received an email about that church that those deceivers were claiming did not allow white people. It was a concern of mine and I did call this church. They responded with the truth and I posted it on myspace. Once again I got another attack and they have not stopped. What they did was beginning intercepting my blogs, my emails, and many other things. They were so sly I did not know who was who. They blocked my emails from making to friends I know for sure. With that said the emails I was sending to the Obama Campaign must have been blocked as well. It took me 4 months to figure all of this out. What came of this was it turned me against The Obama Campaign for a while. Once I took things into my own hands, the hands that GOD gave me the light started shedding on those involved. My friends, Myspace, Yahoo, AOL, FOX, and yes, THE CLINTONS, The Bush's and the McCains were all involved in destroying the Man Named Obama. Do not think that radio talk show host did that on accident. That was straight deceit by the Clintons and the McCains to make a name that does not matter well spread across the Christian front. I have all of this documented and the proof is in. I have already called an attorney, The attorney General, and many of my friends that seen all of this take place.

What we have in America is a media empire that has did everything they can do ever year to make sure their man gets into the White House. These are the same men that enslaved Africans, Murdered my Native Americans and have tried to take over the world for 400 years.

I serve GOD and the doctrine I live by is THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST. So you might understand my place in society and the Power of GOD that is used to give his children strength to see such things I am gonna share the deciphering of the number 666 for you, that number of the Beast.

In number by Gematria which is greek the Number 666 can be listed as X O F. With the a regenerated mind of Chirst you must know that he taught things that the scribes and pharisees did not understand. His doctrine was more powerful and seemed backwards of theirs, He had the Doctrin of GOD. With that thought in mind I looked at the letters X O F and related it to F O X. The name FOX. My friends, Jesus named this man. The man that marked Jesus and the man that killed his brother James. His name was HEROD and Jesus called him a FOX.

These things are only part of what I share. There is so much more. We must get Obama in the White House so that we can rid our country of the evil ROMAN empire that has infiltrated us and deceived us for 400 years.

I sent president Bush an email stating that I know how the MONEY was made and how those that did it used a certain scripture in the Book of Jerimiah but they used it in the wrong way. GOD told Jerimiah to Lamament over Jerusalem to bring in THE POWER OF GOD. They did the same thing but with black magic involved. 7 Days after I sent this information to Bush it came out on the news that Historians had finally figured it out. THEY LIED!!! They are not even close. I have been in a spiritual warfare with these media powers and bush and they have attacked me for this. I pray that we all see this as a nation and remove them. As Obama has said, they should have never went into Iraq. We have the Power of GOD to call upon to remove those that be against the CHILDREN OF GOD. It's called THE COMFORTER. I blogged much of this but not all on myspace. I had to go full circle to understand who was doing what but today I am back where I started from the beginning and I THANK GOD HE IS REAL. GIVE OBAMA a chance my friends and GOD will give us a chance. We can get peace in the middle east and peace on the borders to the south. My blood, the native indian is blood of hispanics. Mexican did not exist until Native Indians and Spainiards came together. We are a mixed culture and we must get those people who will not let us live a mixed culture's life out of the WHITE HOUSE

A busy week on all of our growing social networks! Our Wisconsin MySpace friends were active this week getting out the vote...

"Sherbert" in Kenosha, WI writes, "[I] made phone calls for several hours last night and again today as my husband hit the neighborhoods despite the single digit chill. We're working hard for Obama in Wisconsin!"

And the Texas Democratic Party/CNN Debate was the major discussion point on all our social networks this week, including our text message community...

Natasha from Florida wrote in on BlackPlanet, "I watched the Democratic debate tonight and kudos to Sen. Obama!! This debate just stamped the leadership he's displayed and maintained throughout his campaign."

And someone wrote in on the comment section of one our Youtube videos from last night. "Barack is a beacon of inspiration and the catalyst to unite the United States of America. Yesterday in the debates, he practiced what he has been preaching by respecting his opponent."

I always think its interesting when people ask me why I'm supporting Senator Barack Obama. I'v posted a few (ok, several) flyers on MySpace regarding a happy hour event for Obama. One of my MySpace frieds wrote to day:

Why Obama over Hilliary? This isn't a criticism - I genuinely want to know what you think! - I tried to do my own research to compare them. But on the issues, the two candidates seem really similar (on paper). Yet a lot of ppl think Hillary is a liar and don't trust her and worry that she will piss off the rest of the world. What is that based on? But then others say the last Clinton administration was good and Barack doesn't have enough experience. So tell me why you like Obama so much...you're obviously a big supporter and I'd sincerely like to know why.

The Viacom-owned MTV and the News Corp.-owned MySpace aim[ed] to make this the "most publicly accessible and interactive presidential candidate event in history," according to a release from the two companies. The event [was] broadcast live on MTV, MTV2, and the Latino-geared MTV Tres, as well as shown in part on the college network MTVU, streamed live on MTV Mobile, MySpace's election site, MTV's Choose or Lose politics site, and the Associated Press Online Video Network. It [was] translated into Spanish for La Vibra, and broadcast on XM Satellite Radio, AP Radio, and MTV Radio. In addition, the event [was] broadcast on MTV's giant high-definition TV screen in New York's Times Square.

As with past installments of the presidential dialogue series, questions for the candidates [were] gathered not only from the live audience (this time it will be in MTV's Times Square studio), the Choose or Lose Web site, and MySpace's MySpaceIM instant messaging client. Real-time polling [was] conducted through Flektor, the social-media start-up that MySpace parent company Fox Interactive Media purchased last year.

Times Square Visibility

Just talked with Rudi Shenk our New York state organizer who reported over 300 Barack Obama supporters cheering Barack on during the MySpace and MTV "Presidential Dialogue" in Times Square. Rudi said that police had to increase the amount of space for the Obama supporters because of the amount of people that showed up to be a part of our movement. He said, "The enthusiasm was amazing! Young voters from New York and New Jersey came out to be a part of the magic."

According to The Nation "Obama has won among 18-29 year olds in every state, garnering 67% of their votes in South Carolina, 59% in Nevada, 51% in New Hampshire and 57% in Iowa."

In addition to pounding the pavement for this campaign, young voters are showing their support online and getting their friends involved as well. Using social networks, text messaging and the online organizing tools on my.barackobama.com, our supporters are getting the message out far and wide.

This excitement is showing up all over the internet as we now have over 12 million YouTube views, and over 200,000 friends on Facebook, MySpace and BlackPlanet, respectively.

We are excited to announce state-specific pages on both MySpace and BlackPlanet to help our supporters find each other, have local discussions and better organize. As some campaign workers built mailing lists and telephone trees according to political, professional and personal interests, others created the first groups and profiles on sites as varied as Eons, the MySpace for baby boomers, and LinkedIn, a site mostly for white-collar professionals. They also used BlackPlanet.com, MiGente.com, AsianAve.com and GLEE.com -- the MySpace and Facebook for, respectively, the African American, Latino, Asian and gay online communities. They have posted more than 350 videos on his YouTube channel, twice as many as Clinton, and his videos have been viewed nearly twice as often as hers. The group, "I pledge to vote for Barack Obama in the NH primary" now has over 500 voters and is only one of several groups from around the state. Tanner posted to the group, "Hey, I'm from Dixville Notch, the first town in the nation to release their primary results... and I'm voting for Barack Obama!"

Social Networking Round Up

This week our networks were all abuzz over Barack's appearance on Saturday Night Live. A YouTube video if the appearance achieved over 500,000 views and people are still talking about how great this skit was on all our social networks.

Evora from Florida posted the SNL clip on our Eons profile and wrote: "Saw it -- was pretty cool. Made me happy." She even let us know her 20-year-old son liked it as well.

With your help, we now have over 190,000 members on Barack's official MySpace page and the community continues to build and grow with different local groups and chapters springing up every day.

And this week, Barack actually got to meet up with several of his Iowa MySpace friends:

As Kate wrote on Barack's MySpace page, "I'm a student in Ottumwa, Iowa and I came to see you speak today and you have my support. I really believe that you can help change our country for the better and I'm telling all my friends and family to support you!"

And the Muscatine Journal even wrote about one of our MySpace Organizers:

"Prior to his public appearance, Obama met with a few Muscatine High School students, some of whom work at the local Obama headquarters and are interested in politics. Obama also made time for a private meeting with a small crowd after his speech. MHS student Ben Brannen, 18, said it was an honor to meet Obama after following his campaign. 'It was great,' Brannen said. Brannen said he didn't have any specific questions for Obama because he's been following him so closely, he's even created a MHS Barack Obama MySpace page."

Obama gains momentum with MTV/MySpace

I'd like to see more of these types of forums and a lot less of the so-called "Candidate Debates" that air on MSM. The MTV/MySpace forum and YouTube debates have really elevated the importance of substantative questions and answers. 30-90 second sound bites, and TV ads are a not good medium to help Americans become an informed electorate. We're electing the US President, not the President of the local PTA. We deserve more than what the MSM is providing.

Not only did Senator Obama show himself to be an adroit debater, offering clear and reasoned answers in rapid fire, random sequence, but the Coe college students showed that they are engaged in the process. At least 250 students showed they really care about the US and the larger, global community. They seem anxious to move beyond single-issue litmus tests and the seemingly dominate, devisive drivel which MSM seems determined to promote.

The MSM should eliminate the pre-primary "Candidate Debates" and replace them with issues forums. Sound bites serve little useful purpose other than to fill the space required of a 30-60 second ad.

Huge kudos to MTV/MySpace, and the youth on Coe and other campuses all over the US. They are helping change the face of the Presidential evaluation process, redirecting the media to issues of substance. I wonder how many in my generation, or the generation before me were tuned in?

It's time we elected a deep-thinker to the office of President, and for the youth of America to vote and caucus in the primaries. With their help, we'll be able to elect a truly great candidate instead of that candidate who our MSM would like to crown victorious long before a single vote has been cast.

Barack Obama has just the right qualities of character and competence we need in a President for the 21st Century. Thank you MTV/MySpace for a very meaningful contribution to this process.

MySpace & MTV Dialogue Update

On a sunny, 60 degree fall day at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, hundreds of students and faculty poured out onto the quad to watch as the MTV/MySpace Presidential Dialogue was being taped and streamed live on MySpace.

Barack was fired up and answered questions for over an hour.

Here are what folks who watched are writing in so far:

Ms. P from Dallas, TX wrote to on our MySpace page, "The dialogue today in Iowa was fantastic... your ability to convey your beliefs and ideals about the presidency in a way that our young people can relate to is admirable. Thanks for your honesty."

Ryan in Maryland texted us, "I thought this event showed Barack at his best, he seemed to be comfortable and be able to answers the questions with ease."

Alisha from Mil Valley, CA wrote to our MySpace page, "Barack --- I just watched your MTV/Myspace discussion and you did a fantastic job. You really do inspire me, and you can count on me to help spread the word that there is finally a honest candidate for president. I want to be seeing you for the next eight years, so get to it!

MySpace and MTV are in Cedar Rapids getting ready for their live Presidential Dialogue with Barack tomorrow at 1:30 PM ET/10:30 AM PT. You can watch the live stream at www.myspace.com/election2008.

Coe College is buzzing with the excitement of having both MySpace and MTV on their campus for the event.

I caught up with Kim Stolz and Gideon Yago of MTV News earlier today. Kim, who has been interviewing Coe College students about the event, said that "both Republicans and Democrats alike are excited to have Barack at Coe College."

"Regardless of their personal views," said Kim, "they recognize this is a chance for them to help make one of the most important decisions in their lives to date."

Gideon told me he's looking forward to the dialogue because Barack is, "One of the most, if not the most interesting, of the candidates of 2008… and I'm excited to see what he has to say to this audience."

Quantifying Online Support for '08

Corp. of Lansing, MI has been tracking the Internet performance of
candidates in the 2008 Presidential election through a new model of online
analysis: the Spartan Internet Political Performance (SIPP) Index. The SIPP
Index utilizes over 650 factors to gauge the effectiveness of each
candidate's ability to connect and engage online users.
    "Unlike past elections, when individuals communicated very passively
online, this election shows a wealth of active engagement through social
networking sites," said Ryan Vartoogian, President of Spartan Internet
Consulting. "Based on our analysis, we see continuing upward trends. The
most telling story will be the impact of these new forms of campaigning on
actual voting results."
    Some notable findings from July 12th to October 11th (3 months in review):

    "The past 3 months show varying sophistication in candidate success in
engaging with people online," says Vartoogian. "Many candidates' official
campaign sites were not well positioned for key search terms and in some
cases don't show up under their own name."

    Spartan Internet began gathering data in June and started releasing
weekly composite scores reflecting each candidate's online market share
starting on July 12, 2007. Each of the 650 factors is assigned a specific
weight, based on how far reaching and reliable the source data is. For
example, a user who posts an image on a highly trafficked networking site
or writes a blog that receives a large number of comments is weighted
higher than less engaged means like a Google search.

It was a busy week for Barack on our many social networks with exciting conversations about how we can change our country.

Barack's LinkedIn.com Question, "How can the next president better help small business and entrepreneurs thrive?" received over 1500 answers! This is the most that any question has ever received on this social network. The best part of this discussion has been the well thought out answers from the many experts in the field…small business owners and entrepreneurs from around the country!

While there were tons of great answers, the majority revolved around the subject of easing the burdens of health care costs. Meridith L, a small business owner in Texas wrote:

Serious considerations for providing health care benefits or tax breaks for anyone who is paying 100% of their own health care premiums.. In fact I don't see that any president can be truly serious about helping small business without providing comprehensive national health care in a fashion where the burden is off of the small business owner.

Brett Y from California wrote:

As an owner of an Internet company that started small, I agree with the comments regarding health insurance. My decision/ability to leave the comfort of a regular paycheck and covered health insurance to start a business was made much more difficult by the fear of finding affordable health insurance. Lowering that issue on the list of tough decisions to make when starting a business would go a long way in helping more entrepreneurs thrive.

The struggles of health care were also felt on MySpace and other platforms as well. Barack's MySpace friend BleuBeard wrote:

Does the Obama Girl Video Hurt Obama?

I don't think the Obama girl video will hurt Obama. Obama's campaign was not involved in anyway. It shows a grassroot spontaneous initiative from outside supporters. According to the recent poll (Washington Post-ABC Poll), more lower income women are supporting Hillary over Obama, while more college educated women are supporting him. The fact is, the main reason Hillary is leading Obama in the polls is because of low-income less-educated women. A video like this will make Obama seem accepted, mainstream, and cool. Most lower income noncollege women may find it difficult envisioning a mixed African American guy from outside Washington politics winning the White House, too incredible to be possible, so they are backing whom they believe can win, Hillary. This video may encourage them to believe Obama is more accepted than they think. The video will attract the young at heart to Obama, older ones like my mom may think it is too racy and explain it off as youths’ impulsiveness, not blame Obama. Kennedy and Clinton wrongly fooled around yet they are two of the most popular presidents and they deliberately misbehave, unlike Obama. I think people are going to see the video and wonder: “Wow, why do they like him so much”, and this may lead them to sit up and listen when he’s on the news talking. Once they truly listen to what he has to say, they’ll believe he can change this country positively. Imagine Barack flying over to talk to both sides in conflicts, with his smarts and respectful demeanor? I dream of the day I can take my family overseas without fearing a terrorist attack because I have an American passport. My dream is to visit Jerusalem someday, would I risk that today? No-way…Just some thoughts of mine.

The Audacity of Young Voters

I wrote a letter to Senator Obama. It reads as follows:

Senator Obama,

First let me provide a little background as to who I am. I am a 21 year old student from Portland, Oregon who voted for the first time in 2004 for Kucinich and subsequently lost interest in voting. I wanted to thank you for being genuine, and whether or not you win the presidency, which I have faith you will, you still are an amazing role model. I used to harbor such a disdain for politics and government that I wished for a revolution, but I could never quite imagine it working. And then a friend pointed me to a video on youtube of Barack Obama speaking at the 2004 Democratic National Convention and I thought, "This man is our revolution." Subsequently you started looking into the possibility of running for president. This whole time I'm checking in on your website, just waiting for a clue. Finally when you announced your candidacy I was up at the crack of dawn watching the video. I've paid attention to you, you have captivated me. You've inspired me to do something with my life, to go back to school and deal with mounting debt because I believe that you can guide my generation and help us to fix a bond that has been broken longer than I've been alive. I want to have the skills to stop climate change and to help universal health care take off and (especially) to reform student loans.
I have a blog on your website and you're one of my top friends on myspace because it isn't enough for you to inspire me, I need to get my friends involved and I have been trying. When it comes down to it I am going to lead them to the polls or pay for the stamps for their voter registration forms. And the reason I'm doing it is because you have convinced me that it matters. So when the campaign trail gets tough, remember that there are people like me all over the country who look up to you and who stand behind you in support. That's why we show up in the thousands at your speeches and that's why you're going to be the next president.

Everyone from the Boston Globe to Foster's Daily Democrat to the Chicago Tribune and even Yahoo! News are saying that voters between 18 and 30 are showing increasing interest in politics. They're saying that we're the only reason Obama is a top tier candidate and they're also saying that we aren't really going to vote. They're saying that statistically we won't take the time to vote even if we show interest initially. So to all my friends, this is important and you really better fucking vote. Young adults not voting is part of the reason our presidents are usually old and distant, it's the reason we feel like we aren't being represented. It's the reason student loans will keep you poor long after you've landed a good job.
So if you aren't registered to vote yet, or if you're not sure if they've got the right address, go to www.govote.org and print a voter registration form, maybe make sure other people in your house don't need a copy, too. Then fill it out, sign it, stamp it, and mail it in. (Remember to register as a Democrat if you want to vote in the Democratic primaries - at least in Oregon)

So when election day comes around I think I just might volunteer a little of my time to try and get as many young voters to vote as possible. I don't really care if they vote Obama or Clinton or Giuliani as long as they let their voices be heard. Still, up until Election Day, I'm going to be trying to reinforce support for Obama. This guy really is amazing. Actually, I'll link to two different articles about the same speech because it really is an amazing story as far as politics goes:

If you have a minute, check them out. He's really inspiring.

If we don't come out in full support of a candidate we will probably lose. If it's Hillary or if it's Barack, we'll have an uphill fight to get either the first woman or the first black man elected. We'll have to fight against old outdated ideas and stereotypes. But all it takes from you is one vote, one stamp or short bus ride, one tick of a box. This is a movement that has catastrophic implications yet requires only a very small personal investment. If you don't get off your ass and vote you are letting down all of those people in our generation who do. For every person between 18 and 30 who stays home, we're outnumbered by 1 more. We need as many people as possible to commit to this and to actually follow through.

My Experiences as a Barack Obama Supporter

My name is Alicia Brimage, M.Ed - I am a Christian, parent, teacher and devote supporter of the honorable Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States of America. I have created a site on MySpace called Illinois 4 Obama.

I have decided to use this blog to write about my day-to-day experiences as an Obama supporter the good, bad and ugly. I have some days …

A little history on Illinois 4 Obama site, I decided to create this site because I was glad to hear Obama was going to run for President. Further, I wanted to show my support in a way that is feasible as well as effective.

Presently, I have close to 300 friends at the site. When I first created the site there was a such a rich flow of support for Obama it was just incredible - that remains and is getting stronger each day as people find out about this site and others for Obama. The people there express they way they feel about Obama as a candidate - or should I say how he makes them feel which is much closer to the truth. This reminds me of this phrase:

“People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but they won’t forget how you made them feel”

I am glad I made the choice to support Obama for president. I have never supported any political candidate further than just reading his/her flyer and speaking a few niceties. However, this candidate is different - charismatic as well as intelligent. A great orator. A very difficult combination to find in most politicians.

It's the General, Stupid 5/4/07

Knowing that Republicans are salivating over the prospect of facing Hillary in the General Election is nothing new. But watching them so vocal, and dare I say vicious, about her candidacy at the Republican Presidential debate last night should be more than enough to get Democrats thinking. It's not enough to support Hillary on the basis of her experience and her ability to lead. Democrats supporting Hillary need to have a moment of clarity and consider her ability to win. I saw a poll this week on MSNBC that shows her beating Senator Obama in the primaries. Link But this same poll shows Obama beating Guiliani in the general election. *Added 5/6/07, a second poll showing this trend Link* Even just anecdotally, people I talk to have a true, gut feeling that she can't win against a Republican. Voters need to think about this and also look at history: both Gore and Kerry's 'inevitability' status, possibly only in part, led them to win the nomination. But, in the grand scheme of things, that's also what led us to the mess we are in right now. Neither one of them could pull out a general election win: looking back at the disastrous eight years of Republican rule should be more than enough for Democrats to make their choice, in part, on whether or not winning is the goal. It's not like us to think this way, I know, but really that's the point.

The Myspace "My-Bad"

In light of the inevitable blips that will occur in an unprecendented lengthy Presidential campaign season, I hesitate to use the phrase, "Stay the course." In regards to the gentleman that raises the level of civil discourse, is the source of an empowering aura, and embodies a spirit this country has long yearned for... I'm willing to say there are bigger fish to fry.

Ladies and gentlemen, our collective strength is our passion. Do not allow short-sightedness to impair America's future.

Get some glasses and remember: Gas isn't getting any cheaper, the air isn't getting any cleaner, hurry up and read this so you can get to your second or third job so you can pay your health insurance and prescriptions, college tuition is skyrocketing, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Afghanistan, corporate corruption, Libby, Rove, Gonzalez, etc., etc., etc.

The list of legitimate issues to tackle are long enough, lets not tack on non-issues... As you can see... if you're not short-sighted.

Joe Anthony's, Barrack Obama MySpace

I just finished reading Joe Rospars's Blog - "Our MySpace Experiment" including the 150+ comments below it. My reaction was simply Ouch!

Taking Joe Anthony's mySpace he built in support of Barrack O'bama is exactly what someone like George Bush would do. It's the same sort of arrogance that has put this country into a war that politicians from both sides of the fence have failed to get us out.

After raising 25 million dollars in campaign contributions, paying Joe Anthony 39K for his Barrack O'bama myspace would of been money well spent. Instead it'll cost this campaign a lot more in the negative opinion.

I see more and more signs where the O'bama people are making what might look like little innocent mistakes that carry a great risk down the road. Embracing all the marketing hype about the power of migrating people into social community, blogs etc... isn't going to win a presidential election. Finding ways to reach undecided voters on the internet will.

Barack O'bama represents a needle in a hay stack and the first opportunity to put a man of integrity and courage in the White House in a very long time. Blowing this opportunity is a terrible thing to waste.

Our MySpace Experiment

There have been a lot of questions and comments in this community related to our MySpace profile, and so I wanted to come by and clarify how we got here and answer questions.

Our campaign started quickly. People around here say that this has been like building an airplane in mid-air, having already taken off. This is especially true of the New Media operation. While the campaign in general is going from zero to sixty, our team is at the same time charged with exploring the new ways we can build relationships between Barack and his supporters, and foster relationships among supporters themselves.

When it came to MySpace, we decided to take a leap. We decided to make the attempt to combine the organic support and community-building of a grassroots effort with the official campaign outreach efforts.

MySpace launched a U.S. presidential campaign site

MySpace launched a U.S. presidential campaign site Monday, and it has the potential of reaching millions of people who don't otherwise go to political Web sites, one analyst said.

MySpace, a division of Fox Interactive Media Inc., launched MySpace Impact, featuring MySpace pages for 2008 presidential candidates.

Candidates with pages on MySpace Monday were Democratic Senators Hillary Clinton of New York; Barack Obama of Illinois; Joe Biden of Delaware; and Dennis Kucinich of Ohio; John Edwards, a former North Carolina senator and 2004 vice presidential candidate, along with Republicans Senator John McCain of Arizona; former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani; and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Libertarian Ron Paul also has a page.

MySpace hopes to play a "powerful role" in the 2008 elections, CEO Chris DeWolfe said in a statement. The site plans to give users easy-to-use information in a format they can relate to, he said.

MySpace, with 64.4 million unique visitors from the U.S. in February, has the potential to play a major role, said Andrew Lipsman, a senior analyst at ComScore Networks, a Web traffic measurement firm. MySpace users represented about 37 percent of all U.S. Internet users, he said.

In addition, people ages 18 to 24 remain the heaviest users of MySpace and the age group least likely to go to other political sites. "There's certainly the opportunity to drive new traffic to that channel ... because the site is so large," he said.

As of Monday afternoon, "friends" were already on board various candidate sites. For instance, Romney, McCain and Clinton each had more than 1,000 MySpace friends, while Obama had more than 68,000. Paul, also running for president, had about 350 friends. Giuliani's profile was set to "private" and so it could not be publicly seen.

The candidates themselves will have a hand in determining what traffic comes to the MySpace Impact site, he said. "The real test will be determined on how good the content is," he said.

MySpace will roll out an Impact-specific profile, which will allow candidates to use the network's first "viral" fund-raising tool, within weeks, MySpace said. MySpace will also host a series of online political events through the 2008 presidential elections.

Are You A Democrat?

This was the question the librarian asked me yesterday when I checked out Audacity of Hope. I was stunned at first, then unsure, then uneasy. You see, I live in Pro-Bush land. I live, not by choice, in a small town outside of Langley AFB,Virginia. Everyone, except for the small amount of military folks here are related. It's a waterman city, with fifth, sixth, seventh generation watermen making up the bulk of the workforce. THIS IS BUSH COUNTRY. During the '04 elections my house was the only house without a Bush/Cheney sign. My wife and I decided not to put up any signs because she didn't want to rock the boat. My neighbor asked why no sign? I told him we really liked to have a clutter-free yard. The truth is, I like having air on my tires!
So when the librarian asked me if I was a Democrat...I was stunned. My family spends a lot of time at the library. Everyone there is real nice to us. So in a moment I had to recall some basic facts I had stored in my head. I told her..."NO! I'm an American who participates in the will of the people." Safe...YES! Truthful...YES! Here's why:
I am not a hypocrite. I think most Republicans are. I belong to several Air Force groups on MySpace, and have spent the last 17-years in proudly serving in the world's finest force. Here's what I've learned. No matter what the topic, if it came from a democrat, regardless of merit...it sucks and the person who said sucks too. When in doubt, start cursing, belittle the person, the topic, the idea. Don't use facts, use pure emotional rage. When your done, don't forget to ask someone to pray for you and your needs...because you are a Christian and a republican. Yell how important it is to support the current commander in chief, and anyone who speaks badly about him is CRAZY and insubordinate. But before you can take a second breath, continue to remind people Bill Clinton had sexual relations with an intern while in office...married...he was married. Then turn around and brag about how much ass you got this past weekend in the clubs. Post a ton of pictures of naked chicks/dudes whatever, then take the morale high-road when a SSgt poses nude in Playboy. Blog all over the place how you are not going to watch the Grammy's because the Dixie Chicks will be on there and they are a bunch of Communist Bitches who are Bush-bashers, then continue to listen to artists like Green Day and U2...and claim The Daily Show is your favorite. Claim Fox News is the only fair and balanced news network...consider no other sources! Claim how liberals in the media and film industry are ruining our nation...yet continue to watch TV and pay top-dollar to watch a movie. The list could go on, but I will stop it here. I AM NOT A HYPOCRITE! I've long tried to explain to my republican friends who I can tolerate...I'm a Democrat...that doesn't mean I'm bad, not religious, don't value the family, hate Bush...or republicans in general, non-supportive of American traditions. I continue after they talk of all the bad things democrats have done with a list of similar republican faux-pas. I usually end with..."Democrats aren't bad people...Bad people are bad people."

You're right. It is hard to tell. Regardless of party, I usually side with whomever I think is being the least stupid about an issue.

Anyway, I don't find much of a chartable trend toward one side or the other, except that the extreme end of either is usually a bit much for me. I'm somewhere in the middle, which is comfortable because it allows me the luxury of being able to laugh at a lot more people.
I agree! I voted for Arnold for Gov of California, because Davis really screwed things up and I thought Arnold, with his celebrity power could put California back on track...and he did with few exceptions.
I am a Democrat, but I am also an American who participates in the will of the people.

Fellow Myspacers!

First off, thanks so much for showing your support! In the 4 days since the groups here at my.barackobama.com began, more than a hundred of you from across the country have joined MySpacers For Obama '08 in support of positive change for this great country. And this is just week one! If you each managed to get a single friend from MySpace, Facebook, LiveJournal, or any other social networking site you belong to to join each week from now 'til election day, we'll have quite a following by next year, and a real pull on the elections of 2008.

The influence we have as young people (42 million and counting) and as digital citizens is a force to be reckoned with. Voter turnout in the past 2 presidential elections has grown by the millions, from 17 million votes cast (40 percent turnout) in 2000, to more than 20.5 million (49 percent turnout) in 2004. Last year, a solid 61% majority of voters aged 18-29 voted Democrat in the House elections, and if public opinion holds true in this next election, that majority will only grow bigger. Young voters have real influence at the polls, now more than ever, and it's my hope that this group, along with the collective power we have to socially interact with our peers, will make the difference in getting the right man for the job, Senator Barack Obama, into the White House by January '09.

The power of communication is at our fingertips. Post bulletins on MySpace with YouTube clips of the Obama rallies you went to. Feature links to Obama tagged Flickr streams on your blog. Plot rally stops on a Google map mashup you designed. Make Obama-themed user pics and banner graphics to share with friends and post them in your message board signatures or Facebook profiles. Discuss election issues for a podcast that we can all subscribe to. The possibilities are as endless and imaginative as you want them to be.

We make the difference this year. Tell the world who you're for (Barack Obama!) and why. Register to vote and get everyone you know to do the same. Get your friends to join this group...and don't forget to post a blog entry here telling us what you're doing to make this country and our world a better place!

The Cutting Edge

Barack Obama never ceases to amaze me. He became the first senator and presidential hopeful that I have followed the hardest and longest. He first surprised me when I was looking for Podcasts on iTunes for something to listen to on my iPod. I was impressed that the senator would take that much time and effort to make a recording and post it for his constiuents to follow his work. Also, he choose a cutting edge way to deliver that content. That was about a year ago or so and there were hardly any politicians who delivered podcasts in that manner.

Now with his bid official and my.barackobama.com up and running he has impressed me again. This is an amazing tool with its various abilities. I have briefly looked at other democratic hopefuls and haven't seen anything in this scale. In the era of podcasts and large social websites like facebook and myspace it makes me feel as if Obama and his staff really have the pulse of my generation. I have enjoyed listening to his podcast and hopefully once this website gets buzzing with events, groups, friends and fundraising then this will become another impressive tool to come out of the Barack Obama shop.
