Vote for Change -- The Song

Barack Obama asked us to create something creative. When I'm stressed or have back insomnia I either write, read, create or sing. I'm doing all in this video! Sorry, about the pitch of my voice, I just couldn't get it when the key of the music.

Vocals/Lyrics by: Adrienne Williams

Music by Jimmy Vaughan:

Vote For Change

Words and Music to DNC Wonder "Fear Can't Put Dreams To Sleep"

It was hard for me to get my hands on the words and music to Stevie Wonder's performance accompanied by Take 6 and the Drums of Unity at the DNC in August 2008, so I have listed them below, including the Youtube recording political interjections. May it inspire you as much as it did me!

Fear Can't Put Dreams To Sleep by Stevie Wonder w/Take 6 and Drums of Unity

Lyrics http://choosetochangeradioshow.blogspot.com/2008/09/lyrics-from-september-3-show-fear-cant.html

(more complete lyrics for DNC version in my extended post below)

Youtube recording
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWHwkSgVRNE
DNC-Stevie Wonder-Part-1-Aug-28-2008

P.S. My other favorite recording is where some genius superimposed that super clever montage of Obama's speeches to "Never gonna give you up" DURING McCain's!!! acceptance speech - it is soooooooooooooo funny and inspiring!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TiQCJXpbKg
John McCain Gets BarackRoll'd

Obama and the America in Bruce Springsteen's Lyrics

As a fellow Jerseyan, fellow musician and Bruce fan, I was thrilled with The Boss' endorsement of Barack Obama. As great as his words in that article were, I think his lyrics over the years speak best for why we need Obama's brand of political change.

I've got a wide open country in my eyes and these romantic dreams in my head
- No Surrender

United in the Obama for America campaign, we see a country of hope and promise, not of fear. "Yes we can" is our call to action. We are dreamers at night, but we are do-ers when we wake up in the morning. We can and will nurse our ailing environment back to health (and create good jobs doing it), provide healthcare to our people and regain our standing in the world.

The flag flying over the courthouse means somethings were set in stone
Who we are, what we'll do and what we won't
- Long Walk Home

Obama wisely agrees with the Supreme Court's recent decision that America cannot indefinitely hold prisoners without trial. Under our new President, we'll know that we're no longer torturing people from other lands, and will better guarantee the safe treatment of our people in foreign installations. Our Constitution defines and reflects our American values, and Obama would return us to keeping faith with our vision of a more perfect union. It will be a long walk home, but that's no reason not to take the first step.

OBAMA '08 ~ Wonderful World, Beautiful People

Before I knew much about Senator Obama I read "Audacity of Hope". When I read: the majority of American people are decent, no lie, my first thought was: what rock has he been living under? I have lived in Ku Klux Klan territory and I do not consider people who would join the KKK to be "decent".

I have been called some pretty ugly names because I am a peace activist. The Bush years people seemed to have gotten worse. I have friends of many ethnicities and religious persuasions. Even some of those would jump on the "I hate Muslims" bandwagon. The worst was a Christmas morning email spewing Hebrew and Muslim hatred. I will skip the details on that one.

Seeing such a diverse group of people joining together and working to elect Senator Obama has restored my faith in people. That is the change I want to see in the USA. Unity through diversity. Something more like these lyrics:

"Man and woman, girl and boy, let us try to give a helping hand.
This I know and I'm sure, that the love we all could understand.
This is our world, can't you see?

Everybody wants to live and be free.
Instead of fussing and fighting, cheating and biting, scandalizing and hating.
Baby we could have a 'Wonderful World, Beautiful People'..."

(Jimmy Cliff)

Some people write history books; others can "show and tell" a bit of history in a few brief lyrics.
More lyric's from Al Wilson's song, "La, La Peace Song". Oh, I'll tell you why
It's not safe to fly
You might get hijacked
To an unknown land

Desperate people seeking refuge
From corruption, oh
By means of subterfuge

Oh, sabotage, men at large
Innocent people suffering
By another's hand

Racial injustice dividing men
Allowing their hate to grow
Tell me, when's it gonna end?Oh, hear that sound, so profound
It's the voice of people
Lord, hear them pray

Feel the strength of their words
Lead us not to temptation
Lest we go astray

Oh, people, that's my
La la la la peace song
La la la la, tell me
Why can't we get along? The song rose to 19 on the R&B Charts in September 1974 and to number 20 in October
on the Hot 100 list.

RIP Al Wilson

A while ago I posted a mash up of lyrics, at time when Yes, We Can positive Obama was the norm here at Obama '08. As a part of that I used lyrics from Al Wilson's 1970s tune "La La Peace Song". He passed away today at age 68 of kidney failure. It seems we have come full circle; then it was the Vietnam war, today Iraq, with Iran on it's coattails.

Just watched a video clip of a PENN voter. A Vietnam veteran, wants out of Iraq, is worried about heading into a recession, does not like our jobs shipped overseas. He voted for McCain. He obviously missed McCain's saying it did not matter to citizens if we stayed in Iraq "100 years", nor that McCain wants new war in Iran. He does not like the way Clinton and Obama fight all the time. Thanks, Hilary for turning a primary election into a war zone. Some lyrics from "La La Peace Song".
What's that sound, so profound
Over heads of children, Lord
As they pass

Sounds like thunder
But there's no rain
This kind of thunder blows down
Doors and walls and things

Ah, somebody's crying
For those dying
But no one knows
How long it's gonna last

Steel birds falling to the ground
Not knowing what's below
When the end comes, tell me now
Where we gonna go

Oh, people, that's my
La la la la peace song
La la la la, tell me
Why can't we get along...RIP, Al Wilson.

Obama '08 ~ Bar Songs

A very popular bar song from my days living in the Pocono Moutains was Mere Haggard's tune "Okie from Muskogee". Part of lyrics:

We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee;
We don't take our trips on LSD
We don't burn our draft cards down on Main Street;
We like livin' right, and bein' free.

I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all

We don't make a party out of lovin';
We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo;
We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy,
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do.

Leather boots are still in style for manly footwear;
Beads and Roman sandals won't be seen.
Football's still the roughest thing on campus,
And the kids here still respect the college dean.

That was then, this is now, eh. Here is part of a comment from the Pocono Record online forum:

"...who see nothing wrong with the illegal activity. San Francisco fancies itself as the core of liberal thought. So, free bus tickets for all illegal immigrants to SF from the East Coast! There is a 'welfare' program I would support wholeheartedly."

That is the tip of an iceberg. Not the sentiments of all people living in Pennsylvania, nor all people living in small towns in Pennsylvania. More than likely the one who made the comment votes Republican.

Obama '08 ~ Allentown

When people ask me where my daughters live and I say Allentown, they give me that blank stare. I would say, "you know, 'they're tearing all the factories down', Billy Joel tune...". Of course unless they were a Billy Joel fan or listened to Joel's middle of the road rock 'n roll they still gae me a blank stare. Billy Joel had a hit with "Allentown" in 1982. I often wondered why he choose to sing about Allentown. I later decided it was because he performed in the Allentown state fairs, a largely attended yearly event.

Used without permission, "Allentown" lyrics:
"Well, we're living here in Allentown
And they're closing
all the factories down

Out in Bethlehem
They're killing time
Filling out forms
Standing in line...

Obama '08 ~ Think

Senator Obama's early speech videos often had music playing as he took the stage. I especially liked the bit of lyrics from Arthea Franklin's 1968 hit: "Think". Sample lyrics:

You need me (need me)
And I need you (don't you know)
Without each other
There ain't nothing people can do

You better think (think)
Think about what you're
Trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think think)
Let your mind go
Let yourself be free

Oh, freedom (freedom
Freedom (freedom)
Oh, freedom, yeah
Freedom, right now
Freedom (freedom
Oh, freedom (freedom)
Gimme some freedom
Oh, freedom

Hey, think about it
You, think about it...

My old joke when people would ask me: What do you think? I would say: I try not to. Thinking, like words, can lead to a good place or a bad place. I would rather be thinking on positive things, like the beauty of flowers and trees, than negative thiings like dead children on the streets of Iraq. I often wonder if people think how their words will affect other people before they speak them or type them. Have to look up a quote about words and post it at a later time.

Obama '08 ~ Ain't No Stopping Us Now

Earlier today blogger FreeWillie sent me to watch a video. Old fav tune.

Some selected lyrics from Mcfadden and Whitehead's 1979 hit "Ain't no Stopping us Now"

Ain't no stoppin' us now
We're on the move
Ain't no stoppin' us now
We've got the groove

There's been so many things
That's held us down
But now it looks like
Things are finally comin' around

I know you know someone
That has a negative vibe
And if you're trying to make it
They only push you aside

But we won't let nothin' hold us back
We're gonna put ourselves together
Gonna polish up our act
If you've ever been held down before
I know you refuse to be held down anymore

Don't you let nothing, nothing
Stand in your way
I want y'all to listen, listen
To every word I say, every word I say

Ain't no stoppin' us now
(No, no, no)
We're on the move!...

I copied a You Tube user's comments for my own information:

On May 11, 2004, Whitehead was murdered while working on his car with his nephew on the street outside of his Philadelphia

home. He was shot by two unknown gunmen who fled afterwards. The case remains unsolved. Whitehead was 55 years old.

On January 27, 2006, McFadden died of liver and lung cancer. He was 56.

May the guys "rest in peace"; many unsung heros travling life's highway. This song was motivating and joyful many years later. Seems almost perfect for Obama's campaign.

"We're on the move..."

Michelle Obama & Stevie Wonder

I never had a First Lady that I could relate to. Michelle Robinson Obama and I might not have much in common besides thinking her husband is the answer to what ails our nation, but I like her. I especially appreciate that she, like me, considers Stevie Wonder her favorite, all time musician.

Stevie has bringing joy into my life with his music ever since he was called Little Stevie or the Boy Wonder, when he popped onto the music scene in 1963 with hit single "Fingertips". I am not that old, I was two at the time, but advanced with an early ear for music. Stevie's songs lifted me up when I was down and cried for me when romance did no go my way. He sang out my government frustrations for me. Might say as Little Stevie grew up, changed and evolved, so did I. A thank you to Stevie Wonder.

Thank you because when times were bad and I was feeling sad I always remembered there was "...a place in the sun where there's hope for everyone".

Thank you for reminding me not to wait for "New Years Day to celebrate" that I did not need "chocolate covered candy hearts to give away" and even if I had "no song to sing" on just "...another ordinary day" that I should just call "...to say I love you."

Thank you for reminding people "music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand, with an equal opportunity, for all to sing, dance and clap their hands...".

Thank you for supporting Senator Obama. I love being on the same team with a favorite star.

PS: Just kidding about being two. I am two years older than Steveland Hardaway Morris.

Obama Town

Sung to the tune of Guitar Town by Steve Earle

Hey pretty baby, are you ready for me? Yeah
It's your good rockin' daddy up from SC
I'm just out of Richmond bound for Pittson
With the radio blastin' and the bird dog on

There's a speed trap up ahead in York town
But no local yokel gonna shut me down
'Cause me and my boys and girls got this junker unwound
And we've come hundreds of miles from an Obama town

Nothin' ever happened 'round my hometown
And I ain't the kind to just hang around
But I heard someone callin' my destiny one day
And I followed that voice down the lost highway

Everybody told me you can't get far
On thirty-seven dollars and a Japanese car
Now I'm smokin' into PA with the hammer down
And a rockin' little group from the Obama town

Hey pretty baby, don't you know? It ain't my fault
I love to hear the steel belts hummin' on the asphalt
Wake up in the middle of the night in a truck stop
Stumble in the restaurant wonderin' why I don't stop

I gotta keep canvassing while I still can
I gotta two latte habit and a motel tan
When my sneakers hit the sidewalk, I'm a brand new man
With a knock on the door, I make my stand

Hey pretty baby, won't you hold me tight?
We're loadin' up and rollin' out of here tonight
One of these days, I'm gonna settle down
And take you back with me to the Obama town.

The Ballad of Bennie Graham

Celebrating the life of Bennie Graham, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, unrecognized Negro League baseball great, Bullard machinist, guitar player, father, husband and family man; a song I wrote upon a good friend's passing and dedicated to his wife and all of those unrecognized heroes working the Obama campaign. Pass it on to Allie if you see her!

Yes We Can Lyrics

Yes We Can

Artist: Will.I.Am

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.
Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.
Yes we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.
Yes we can.

It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change. (We want change.)

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics…they will only grow louder and more dissonant ……….. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about Hope.

Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea:

Yes We Can.

Obama '08 ~ Word Can Be Weapons

"Words can be weapons, they wound sometimes..." Cher song, forget the title at the moment.

Words have the power to lift us up or bring us down. I have this mood meter~when I read positive Obama '08 Community Blog posts, my meter goes up; when I read about his opponent, my mood starts sinking. After page after page of more negative C-stuff, I hit bottom and go on an Obama '08 post frenzy. Great win for Obama last night, wish that happy feeling could be sustained for one day at Obama '08 Community Blogs.

"Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear
About the elininatin' of the negative
And the accent on the positive)
And gather 'round me children if you're willin'
And sit tight while I start reviewin'
The attitude of doin' right

You've gotta accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between"
Lyrics from Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive (Mister In-Beween) by Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen, made popular by Bing Crosby.
Obama Changes Status Quo~With Style!

I love how Senator and Mrs. Obama are changing the status quo, sticking to positive uplifting messages and no dissing their opponents. They do it with style and grace!

"(To illustrate his last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark)

Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
No, do not mess with Mister In-Between
Do you hear me, hmm?"

lyrics from: Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive (Mister In-Beween) by Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen, made popular by Bing Crosby.

Do you all remember "Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive (Mister In-Beween)" Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen, made popular by Bing Crosby?

"You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene"

One more time, why do Obama '08 Community Bloggers keep forcing me to hear the C-word negative stuff on his blogs? I see more posts about the Senator's opponent in title's than I see about the reason we have this community. It brings me down. That old hopeless feeling begins to rise with each time I see it. Sad.

Obama '08 ~ Pointer Sisters, continued

Yes We Can Can by the Pointer Sisters 1973 lyrics continued from prior two posts:

...we gotta take care of all the children
The little children of the world
‘Cause they're our strongest hope for the future
The little bitty boys and girls

To borrow another lyric unrelated to the message: "you know tomorrow is their future, but for me justanother lonely day..." (name that tune) As Whitney Houston sang in "Greatest Love Of All" (and if you want some inspiration, search for the video on You Tube) "the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way".

Have already mentioned Whitney and Bob Marley's One Love ("hear the children crying"). Thanks again to all those who are working to ensure a brighter future for all the children everywhere.

I know we can make it, I know we can
I know darn well we can work it out
Oh yes we can, I know we can can
Yes we can can, why can't we
If we wanna, yes we can can

Obama '08 ~ Yes, We Can Can

From Yes We Can Can by the Pointer Sisters 1973

...try to find a peace within
Without stepping on one another
And do respect the women of the world
Remember you all have mothers

and

I know we can make it, I know we can
I know darn well we can work it out
Oh yes we can, I know we can can
Yes we can can, why can't we
If we wanna, yes we can can.

Look how far we have come. We did what the polls and pundicts said could not be done. We have survived negative attacks and gained support. Conventional election 'wisdom' says whoever takes Iowa takes the election. Senator Obama said the morning of Iowa when asked by Morning talk show host: I think we will do well. An assured quiet confindence without a trace of arrogance. Thanks to all who have helped on this most interesting campaign journey. Keep On Pushing!

Obama '08 ~ Choice

"there's a choice we're making we are saving our own lives...
it's true we make a better day just you and me"

Cydi Lauper, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and Ray Charles performanc in "We Are The World" were especially touching to me. Lionell Ritchie, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick, Tina Turner, Paul Simon, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross are just a few of the many talented artists that cut across all musical genres to come together for one good cause.

I made my choice to believe in Obama's ability to bring me the change I want to see in DC. Our government, of, for and by the people. Republicans had a little fit today because they did not get their desire to spy on citizens legislation passed and stormed out of the White House. How can these men (and I guess ladies) expect our young to behave like adults when they do not? Violent crime and school shootings has risen with the Bush administration. Hate begets hate; violence begets violence; bashing people is accepted under today's leadership.

Looking forward to a better day for you and me...my grandchildren, your children, your grandchildren, children everywhere.

Obama '08 ~ Change

If I hear one more complaint about: hope, believe, change and how dumb we Obama '08 people are, I think I will scream. If they do not get it, they do not get it, so wish they would drop the subject.

Baby Boomers understood change. There were a couple of old timer's like Ray Charles, but most of the USA for Africa team were baby boomers weaned on JFK. Lyric from: We Are The World.

"we can not go on pretending day by day that someone somewhere will soon make a change..."

Obama '08 and Snowflakes

Peace Walker has a story on his website about snowflakes. The weight of enough snowflakes can snap the branch of a tree. "...like a snowball rolling down the side of a snow covered hill" (William 'Smokey' Robinson) "It's Growing".

We need one more snowflake on Super Tuesday. Are you out there? We need your weight. Please join the movement for positive change for all children's future. Thank you.

People Get Ready

"...sounds like thunder but there's no rain, this kind of thunder blows down doors and walls and things...hear that sound, so profound, it's the voice of people...People get ready there's a train a coming...don't you know that it's time to get on board and let this train keep on riding, riding on through...The whole world looks upon the sight, a beautiful sight..."

Lyrics from Al Wilson's "La La La Peace Song", Curtis Mayfield and the Impression's "People Get Ready" (although I like the Chamber's Brothers version a bit better), the O'Jays "Love Train" and Three Dog Night's "Black and White".

The late 1960s and early 1970s were glorious years of transformation and change. The train seems to have derailed somewhere along the line, but I see it picking up steam under Senator Obama's lead and his supporters, campaign staff work on behalf of the people.

Thank you all.

Moving On Up

I sometimes become downhearted and need some renewed hope. It is especially disheartening to me to read pro-Clinton stuff on these Communtiy blogs. The header says Obama '08. I know the blogs are for whatever purpose the blogger wants to use them for as per the man who provided them. Yet it seems disrespectful to campaign for Clinton using an Obama Community blog. I find inspiration in music and visit You Tube to revisit old motivation tunes to rebuild my spirit brought down by the negaitve vibes sometimes picked up from Obama '08 community.

Yes, the Senator wants us to be nice to her and ignore her nastiness, which is fine and respectful or mannerly. So why must I suffer through the rudeness of Hillary for President supporters on Obama '08 blogs? I repeat: header says OBAMA '08. Thanks for tolerating my rant.

In prior post I spoke about Act Blue and this is the song I wanted to post then, but could not.

We're A Winner by The Impressions popular in 1967.

"...and never let anyone say that you can't make it...

...cause we're moving on up...

...we're a winner and everybody knows the truth..."

That is how I felt watching Obama move on up to overtake Edwards and Clinton. Obama's statement in the morning was simply he thought "we will do well" versus Clinton's "I will win". I have watched the underdog move on up this past year and I want to see him move right on up into the White House in '09. There are wonderful choices for the Vice President nomination. There is no need to bring along old politics for those who want a positive new direction for the future.

High Hopes, 3

I have high hopes that I will not see the C-word on Obama community blogs next time I visit. She does have a way of keeping attention focused on her and off the issues. Why talk about her vote to give GWB the go ahead to invade Iran when we can talk about her spin fairy tales, eh. I do however aprreciate the peope who clued me into "Goldwater Girl", that was info I could use to garner support for Obama.

The last lyrics from High Hopes as sung by Sinatra, credited to Cahn & Van Heusen as writers.

When troubles call, and your backs to the wall,
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall,

All problems, just a toy balloon,
Theyll be bursted soon,
Theyre just bound to go pop,
Oops there goes another problem kerplop.

The cutesy song does make light of serious problems, but when thinking of candidates that are full of hot air, it is fun to think of their balloon going pop! On a personal level I would like to see that wall of division and bigotry fall. Obama gives me high hopes, that united we will do it.

Yes, we can. Yes, we can. Yes, we can.

High Hopes, 2

I wonder if today's school children still get told fables that are meant to teach moral values and ethnics, like The Grasshopper and the Ant. Are books like Animal Farm or 1984 still required reading in High School? Do teenagers discuss ideas in books now-a-days or is it all about "Dancing With the Stars" or "American Idol" or the latest video game and movie release? Speaking of ants, more lyrics from High Hopes:

Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant,
Think hell move that rubber tree plant?
Anyone knows an ant, can't
Move a rubber tree plant

But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes,
Hes got high apple pie, in the sky hopes,

So any time your gettin low,
'stead of lettin go,
Just remember that ant,
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant.

Cahn and Van Heusen words are corny in today's sophisticated world, I imagine. Yet everytime I hear another person falling for a Clinton spin machine lie, my hope gets low. I would probably do well to stop reading Obama blogger's blogs and stick to his You Tube channel for my daily dose of opptimism. It seems more than a few who do not feel an ant can move a rubber tree plant.

High Hopes

A popular song when I was a kid sung by Frank Sinatra was High Hopes writtne by Cahn/Van Heusen. It was a silly little ditty, but in those days we had songs like Purple People Eater, The Flying Saucer and ow e ow ah ah ting tang wally wally bing bang that were awfully popular on the Hit Parade. As a young adult I found myself singing the lyrics when life's demands were getting me down. Senator Obama gives me those old high hopes all over again.

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought hed punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin that dam

cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your feelin bad
stead of feelin sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

Yes, we can.

Blackwater

As a teenager I loved the song "Black Water" by the Doobie Brothers. It is unfortunate that recently a group of mercenaries has also decided to take that as the name for their corporation. In protest to both them and the idea of privatizing our armed services I have written my own lyrics to be sung to the tune of the Doobie Brothers' Black Water:

Well, I built me a force and she’s ready for war,

Old Middle East(y), she’s callin’ my name,

Shiites are jumpin’; the Sunni’s are thumpin’,

Blackwater keeps killing them both just the same.

Old Blackwater, keep on killin’,

Middle Eastern oil, won’t you keep on flowin’ for me?

Old Blackwater, keep on killin’,

Middle Eastern oil, won’t you keep on flowin’ for me?

Old Blackwater, keep on killin’,

Middle Eastern oil, won’t you keep on flowin’ for me?

Yeah, keep on flowin’ your oil, gonna make everything,

Pretty mama, gonna make everything a boil

And I ain’t got no worries ‘cause Bush ain’t in no hurry at all

Well, if we’re caught, I don’t care; don’t make no difference to me,

Just plead the “fifth” up on Capitol Hill,

Yeah, I’d like to hear some funky fearful tripe and dance in combat boots,

And I’ll be buyin’ everybody bullets for the next kill

Old Blackwater, keep on killin’,
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"
If the lyric fits...............isn't that what we need.......

I was inspired by a blog tonight.

Blowin' in the Wind

(o.k., I give up, I've tried and tried, but I can't get a link to work-sorry)

I'd like to continue this lyrical play, a little longer.

There are so many song lyrics that inspire us, the kind that tug at our hearts. There are so many that we could apply to Senator Obama.........

How about a little Janis Joplin?

"An' I don't want much outa life,

I never wanted a mansion in the south.

I just-a want to find someone sincere

Who'd treat me like he talks,

One good man.

Oh honey don't you know that I've been looking.

Oh, one good man

Ain't much, honey it ain't much,

Oh, its only everything.

All right."

Barack Obama is 'one good man', and a 'simple man'; like the Lynard Skynard song:

"And be a simple kind of man.
Be something you love and understand.
Be a simple kind of man.
Won't you do this for me son,
If you can?

Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul,
And you can do this if you try.
All that I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied."

And my comment to the link above: from Bob Dylan, "Blowin' in the Wind " and John Lennon's, "Imagine"

"Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?"

Barack Obama can see and hear us: the average American, the diversity of the nation. Isn't that what we need?

"Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?"

He opposed this war before it started. He praises diplomacy! Isn't that what we need?

"You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one"

Imagine that! Isn't that just what we need?

With a song in my heart, good night, fellow Obama supporters,

Gail/ freedom4u_n_me
