Three Facts about Barack Obama and Civil Rights

Barack Obama will combat employment discrimination:
Obama and Biden will work to overturn the Supreme Court's recent ruling that curtails women’s and racial minorities' ability to challenge pay discrimination. They will also pass the Fair Pay Act to ensure that women receive equal pay for equal work and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
Strengthen civil rights enforcement:
Obama and Biden will reverse the politicization that has occurred in the Bush Administration's Department of Justice. They will put an end to the ideological litmus tests used to fill positions within the Civil Rights Division.
Expand hate crime statutes:
Obama and Biden will strengthen federal hate crimes legislation, expand hate crimes protection by passing the Matthew Shepard Act, and reinvigorate enforcement at the Department of Justice's Criminal Section.

President Barack H. Obama's Historic Speech: Between The Words Breaths of Wisdom

There should be no doubt about it, the Historic speech made in Cairo, Egypt by President Barack H. Obama and delivered with great confidence to the Islamic Nations and peoples of the World, and to Arab Muslims in particular, had a lot more nuance and purpose in it than one would first sense by only listening to its words! Every breath between every thought uttered by President Obama held in it an air of deep wisdom whose purpose is greater than the sum of the words contained in his speech. The tone and the facial expressions of President Obama were like the invaluable markers used in the Hebrew Alef-Bet to denote specific sounds, vowels and consonants, without which it would be impossible to be even relatively sure what the author meant to write or the speaker really meant to say!

Mind you, I will not go into a detailed analysis of what exactly was meant by every gesture, expression, intonation, word, sentence, etc., for that could really take up a lot more time and space than is needed to make my point in this article. Suffice it to say, President Barack H. Obama's speech held in it both great promise and a stern warning, as well as what might be considered a coded sub-message! The great promise was one of almost infinite hope and faith in the principle that has been President Obama's legacy thus far: that almost every Human Being in the world, every child of the Great Spirit of H'SH'M, including the vast majority of Muslims, Jews and Christians, desire exactly the same basic things in this Life, World and from each neighbor and stranger! In effect, that almost all of us really do understand that there is a need, and thus a compelling possibility, for true compromise and tolerance based on the principle that without such we will never see an end to all the senseless extreme fear, irrational hatred, dehumanizing injustice, barbaric brutality, insensible threats and horrific violence that has plagued the world for millennia and might continue to plague us till we either come to our best senses or end up, unfortunately sooner than later, causing a world conflagration and final man-made disaster that will wipe out virtually everyone and every ounce of beautiful art, artistic design and imaginative creation we humans have ever produced! And also included in that great promise was an understanding that H'SH'M (G-D All-Loving) would not want us to murder one another in the name of any system of belief, faith or dogma, and that the true essence of what binds all the major religions and Spiritual Philosophies of the world must be the commonality of the Law of Love of H'SH'M; "Do Unto Others As They Truly Want To Be Done Unto and Do Nothing Unto Anyone That They Do Not Really Want To Have Done Unto Them!" True, President Obama inadvertently used the old and inaccurate version of what he really meant to say (he used the "Do unto others as you would want unto thyself!") as someone who I know cherishes the best of True Free-Masonic Ideals (mind you; not to be confused with the current mish-mash abusing the good name of Freemasonry!), as one who has studied the wisdom and compassion of Saladin (Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb), a wisdom that gave rise to The Knights Templar and eventually to the Freemasonry that helped bring about such great individuals as His Majesty King Charles The Second (King Charles II of England), Baruch Spinoza and Sir Isaac Newton (forgive me for not mentioning the Islamic and Jewish scholars of Islam's Golden Scientific Age, whom we should trouble ourselves to learn more about) who were very much part of The Rennaisance and The Age of Enlightenment, without which we would probably have gone into extinction by now!

In essence, President Barack H. Obama was actually invoking the memory of the Clash of Civilizations known mostly as The Crusades, which could easily have caused the collapse of all civilization in the World, had it continued and spread its megalomania elsewhere! And therein lies also President Obama's warning! For his predecessor, probably not fully aware of it, had almost served the full interests of those who almost succeeded in igniting another Worldwide Clash of Civilizations that would have caused a permanent and irrevocable divide, leading to all manner of megalomania and violence, between one side and the Islamic World, which numbers over 1.3 to 1.5 Billion people...over one-fifth of the World's total population at present!!! Anyone in their right mind can clearly see what that would have meant! No religion on Earth, no dogma or ideology, Spiritual or otherwise, can manage to dominate the world by force or even by gradual efforts at full conversion! Like it or not, we're going to have to accept that H'SH'M is above traditional religion, and that the True Way to Live by G-D's Golden Law of Love is to be found in our own individual, special, self-realized connection to H'SH'M!

We must be steadfast in our resolve to support President Obama and his efforts, through his Administration and as CEO of The United States of America, to bring about the Peaceful World Order he and most people in the World desire, need and should already have had ages ago!

Read the news of President Barack Obama’s stop over at Ray's Hell Burger and you will be surprised at the range of opinions. The first thing I thought about was the insecurity of eating at a public place like this. I have always been a little paranoid about eating out but now with all the talk of Swine Flu, how did he managed to get Joe Biden to come along with him. But our President speaks volumes in these little gestures and whether we see them or not they are working at healing the Economy and the mood of the American. Those who dislike the President seem to be more concern of the idea that he is President than the man he really is.

Chairman of Georgian Parliament David Bakradze called on opposition leaders to abandon the idea of creating self-defense units to protect participants of protest actions, which take place on 9 April in Tbilisi.

"We already have the experience, when in 1992 the civil war in Tbilisi has started with the establishment of self-defense units, so the appeal to the leaders of the opposition - is responsible to take this idea," - said Bakradze, commenting on the establishment in the capital of Together.

It should be noted, members of the organization declared the beginning of patrols of the vicinity of protests at the residence of the head of state buildings, the Parliament and the Public Television. Under the plan, to patrol the territory will be the group of ten men.

Barradze has instructed the leadership of the MVD strengthen police patrol in the center of Tbilisi that the opposition did not fear, and ultimately do not create self-defense units.

Recall, according to the Georgian human rights organizations, since 9 April, a group of youths beat up more than 50 opposition supporters who were returning at night to picket their homes. How our President is doing

I thank God every day for President Obama. My faith community often makes reference to praying for our leaders so that God may continue to anoint them and bless them with added wisdom to lead, but I find myself praying for President Obama a great deal, not only because I like him but also because he means so well for our country. His decisions and whole being project that. When I talk to people and tell them how much I find myself praying for him, I usually find out that many others are also praying for him. I do not know the president personally as we have never met one-on-on, but the times I have heard him speak confirm for me that he is quite couragious and full of wisdom. He is leading our country during a time of crisis for many of us, and I could not have more confidence in anyone else to lead us during this tough economic time. I appreciate the wisdom that he has been using so far to address our economic concerns. Let's continue to pray for our president who has to make very tough decisions and is often met with fierced apposition. Let's pray, too, for Congress so that all may support our president to lead this great nation. May God bless our President Barack Obama and may God bless the USA.

What’s Russia’s Problem of not Jumping on our Troubled Economy

Sometimes we become wrapped so tight in our own world we forget how other look or feel towards us Americans. Since our economical troubles began late last September, just about every country has weighted in with both proposed solutions and/or condemnations or any combination there of, regarding what we have caused to the international community at large, but one country has been relatively silent over the economic burdens around the globe, and that country is Russia.

For me, this is rather amazing, since Russia’s economy has been performing very well over the past few years; so along came the international down turn, what’s their reaction?

A fellow blogger (Andrew) posted this interesting article, entitled: “Fresh Angle on US-Russia “New Era”” yesterday, which is primarily devoted to an editorial authored by Mark H Teeter, an American writer residing in Moscow, and Mark’s view of how the Russians are perceiving the world’s economy.

Here are some excerpts from Andrew’s posting:

Sometimes the Moscow Times opinion editorial columns can be a little overbearing. While undoubtedly well written and informative, they are almost universally po-faced. Amid this environment of solemn political analysis and grave social policy, Mark H Teeter brings a delightfully light touch and sharp wit to his keenly observed bi-weekly columns about life and news in Russia.

Most weeks he addresses US-Russia relations through the prism of an American living in Moscow, and this week must have provided a bonanza for Teeter, as Barak Obama apparently “pressed the reset button” on US-Russia relations, and wants to reopen nuclear arms control talks with the Kremlin.

(Note to self: I do wish the press wouldn’t refer to the pressing of any kind of button when it comes to nuclear arms. It causes a certain… frisson. NTS2: And speaking of uncouth Obama press coverage, when will they stop referring to the fiscal stimulus bill as Obama’s stimulus package?

Anyway, back to Teeter: funny guy, sublime writer, irreverent vignettes on US-Russia relations and cultural differences through the eyes of a veteran American expat in Moscow.

Today, Teeter has managed to trump every single one of the major op-eds and foreign policy wonk notes I’ve read on the start of a another new ‘new era’ of Russo-Yankee relations.

Service and Unity in the Community: Get Involved!

As we look ahead, let's all make “connecting, advancing, improving and uplifting the community” one of your top resolutions of 2009. Let’s harness the amazing energy we created to elect the amazing Barack Obama into something amazing for future generations. I believe we are about to witness a period of innovative and unprecedented civic engagement. And why do I believe that?

Because Barack Obama is about to expand existing service programs like Peace Corps and AmeriCorps and put in place new service organizations to confront the ever-evolving needs of this country. According to Obama’s CHANGE.GOV site, this includes the creation of “a Classroom Corps to help underserved schools; a Health Corps to serve in the nation's clinics and hospitals; a Clean Energy Corps to achieve the goal of energy independence; and a Veterans Corps to support the Americans who serve by standing in harm's way.”

This is awesome! Not only is Obama asking all middle and high school students to perform 50 hours of community service a year, but he is going to reward college students who engage in 100 hours of community service a year to receive a fully-refundable tax credit of $4,000 for their education. Yes, Obama is going to make community service a truly desirous component of our national culture.

So encourage your family members, friends, neighbors, and co workers, to participate in some form of service. Before Obama gets started, however, there's a lot we can all do now. You can go to VolunteerMatch.org, which is incredibly effective in matching you to the area you’re passionate about. Or, you can fund classroom projects through DonorsChoose.org, or provide micro-finance loans to entrepreneurs through Kiva.org.

Every year since the age of 9, I’ve found some way to have a positive and measurable impact on my community. I’ve volunteered to hold the infants of drug-addicted parents for area hospitals and given food to homeless families living under freeways. Throughout the year, I go around the community to collect old clothes from my neighbors – clothes to be donated to The Salvation Army and area homeless shelters. And, I also build houses with HABITAT for HUMANITY. So the work one can do is truly endless. I love it!

Right now, the organization Global Green is building home in the area of New Orleans most devestated by Hurricane Katrina - The Lower 9th Ward. These new homes will be more energy efficient for the low income residents set to reside in them.

In this “Age of Obama”, the idea of service will take on something new, something awesome.
We must make a loud declaration of love and community. Word warrior Howard Thurman says it best in his book The Centering Moment:

We must remember those who are close to us by ties of blood and accommodation, whose needs have been exposed to us in the days that are behind; those who are sick and who are moving slowly into a terminal dimension of their illness; those who have fallen upon hard and difficult times, from whose hands have been snatched those symbols of security by which the tranquility of their lives have been measured; those who are dependent upon us for things which we cannot give and we do not know how to say we cannot give them. We remember those men and those women whose private lives are burdened by the responsibilities of others and who find, because of the problems which surround them, that their private lives are inadequate and they are lonely and frightened and dismayed. We remember all those who stand within the shadow of the radiance that belongs to the healthy mind and the vigorous spirit; those who are wrestling with
inner tortures that pull the world out of balance, who find themselves retreating more deeply within in the hope that in the iron-bound security of their inmost privacy they may be
protected from the things that overwhelm and prove unmanageable.

As Thurman's moving passage suggests, we all have a solemn duty to lift each other up. And that means not just being nice to each other. That's not enough. To transform our lives and the lives around us, we must also be thoughtful! Let’s make it happen…and make 2009 the best year yet!

Well...we know all about the curse of kennedy family and his tragedys,The assassination of JFK(By Lee Harvey Oswald :Not Comproved),The assassination of RFK(By Sirhan Sirhan),the incident involving Ted and Mary Jo Kopeckne on Hyannis Port,the case of his son(who lose members of body),what happens with John-John in July,16 of 99´.

Domestic Violence laws are in desperate need of change on how abusers are prosecuted across the nation. Tougher laws need to be implemented and taken out of the States hands and be prosecuted on the Federal Level. Thus, making it tougher for the perpetrators of violence to plead down to lessor charges and the safety of all women and their children will be protected. Within this reform, child visitation and child custody will be change, as well, how protection orders are obtained and enforced. There are more women disappearing at the hands of their abuser’s and murdered. Abusive father’s gaining custody of their children with the carelessness of the courts blind eyes and not protecting the interests and safety of children, for fear of violating parental rights. Protection orders not being enforced and many violations are ignored because the lack of “proof”. This has to change.

World Leaders Receive Threats Suggesting World War III It has been reported today on multiple sourced websites that on-going anonymous threats have been sent out to world leaders within the past 72 hours. Among the threats is that of a nuclear bomb attack in the very near future on United States soil.

Such an attack on America “would make 9/11 insignificant,” said Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

On Barack Obama’s first day as President-Elect, he immediately received threats via US intelligence that Israel are plotting to attack Iran before he is sworn into the White House on January 20, 2009. Russia has also gone into high-gear in noting that they are enforcing their own missile defense systems bordering Poland to counteract the US-stationed missile defense system there.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said, “we will not retreat,” when dealing with the United States in Europe. Former Russian President Putin believes that President George W. Bush has setup multiple missile defense shield systems across Europe to keep a close eye and target on Russia. Contrary to that claim, President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice diligently state that these stations in Europe are nothing but goodwill safety measures put forth for the EU, Nato allies, and American interests upon fending off terrorists, extremists, and notably Iran.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has ignored President Bush and Condoleezza Rice’s claims with triggers ready to attack.

So with Russia visibly upset with the United States and Iran being an ally of Russia, one has to wonder where these world leaders outside of that inner circle are receiving the nuclear bomb threats from. You can go ahead and add in Korea and China into the mix since they have nuclear bombs as well, and are too allies of Russia.

Among the nations that have publically stated they have received the cryptic threats include Australia, England, France, and the United States.

Is any of this a surprise for anyone though?

The now Vice President-elect Joe Biden had some chilling comments to make during the campaign trail just a week prior to Election Day. He repeatedly told us, “Mark my words, mark my words.” Barack Obama is going to be tested with a “generated crisis” within the first six months he explained.

So would an attack on America, potentially larger in catastrophe to 9/11 as Australian PM put it, be the crisis Joe Biden is referring to? Does Biden know something we do not?

Joe Biden also went on to say, “I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate, and he’s (Barack Obama) going to need help. And the kind of help he’s going to need is, he’s going to need you – not financially to help him – we’re going to need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not going to be apparent initially, it’s not going be apparent that we’re right.”

Confused yet? Well while I can join you on that trail of confusion, I still want to figure this out.

An obvious note of observation is that these high level politicians around the world all seem to be coordinated with these warnings received. I’m talking about Vice President-elect Joe Biden, even former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, another former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and finally Admiral Lord Alan West of the British Home Office as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State.

Are all these high level politicians preparing the world for a crisis of gigantic fatal measures?

When looking back at the US invasion in Afghanistan and Iraq in 2003 as part of the War on Terror, and most recently the US embarking on attacks in Syria and Pakistan shortly after the Russian invasion in Georgia, you just have to wonder if these events are the prelude to World War III. These high level politicians are certainly painting the picture that way.

So now I take you to the overall big picture:

Russia continues to threaten a new Cold War, with missiles lined up to attack Poland because of the US missile defense shield system agreement that was signed. Should that shield system officially be built, Russia states that they will deploy missile attacks.
Russia has the capability of launching missiles from Russian soil to American soil.
Iran too claims to have the same capabilities in being able to launch missiles over to US soil.
Israel continues to send out warnings that they will be attacking Iran, which would call for US troops’ help.
President George W. Bush has expressed an interest in attacking Iran before his run in the oval office is over because of Iran’s nuclear program to produce nuclear weapons.
Russia will attack US troops and Israeli troops, should an attack on Iran become apparent.
Korea has sent out threats of attack to the United States in the past and they too carry the capacity of nuclear bombs while being allies of Russia and Iran.
You can add China into the list of allies with Russia.

Does this not look like one big circle of tension to you? It sure does to me, and it’s one that is growing far too tight in tension now. As a result, it could only be a matter of days, weeks, or months before one nation pulls the trigger to ignite World War III (WWIII).

Tuesday night when he came out to speak,I saw a man so overwhelmed with emotion he was actually pale..have you ever been so emotionally drained you just wanted to fall out for three days, well I saw a man who had been epitomized with every possible emotion for the last 12 months or more, I saw joy, and exhaustion in a form I have never witnessed, and I also saw the strength to remain standing under such emotion that would lay most of us out.

An Open Letter To The New President-Elect

Dear President-Elect Obama and Michelle:
Congratulations on your victory. The two of you are to be admired for the vision you shared and the life lived and choices made that saw you through.
I have a request that I am sure you knew was coming; one amongst millions and it is as follows:
I don't believe hard-working low-income African Americans are counted amongst the middle class. Please when you are hammering out a deal to put to work the suffering middle class, think about those that have been generationally, educationally, and medically overlooked hardworking African Americans.
Please do not think for one moment that you are giving a handout to people that have asked for little and received even less. People that are grateful and accepting of crumbs and too afraid to ask for more; people that believe in you and are not expecting more than the promises made during the campaign; a people that are finally tired of being overlooked or looked at with contempt.
The world should stop judging all African Americans based on the exceptions and not the rule. Just like all other races and cultures, not all African Americans are looking for a handout; African Americans are looking for equal opportunity and would like to show that they are contributing members to this society.
When the deals are struck and the financing is in place for employment please require slots for African Americans within the construction industry without restrictions or requirements designed to keep them out, such as union membership when unions don't allow you membership until you have found employment. The construction and manufacturing industries is where there are going to have be this condition implemented because it is now almost 100% Caucasian. In this new world order we want to be partners, unfortunately, not many want to partner with us.
Allow African Americans to once again show their willingness toparticipate by giving them access and a fair opportunity to share in the bounties of the land through merit. Don't give an open ticket to the manufacturing and construction industry that simply employ their own. African Americans can no longer rely on those in charge to be fair in their hiring practices. African Americans have earned the right to work just as hard as all of the other races and cultures. Give them the chance to prove their willingness to be counted. They have always wanted to be counted by people that validate their contributions.
No handouts, an equal hand up where dignity and self-respect reside.

“Change Has Come To America” – Obama Victory Speech I knew when watching live on my television set that this was history in the making on the night of November 4, 2008.

I was watching a man who inspired me, a man who made me realize that if we simply come together, we can create real change. That man was Barack Hussein Obama.

Barack Obama was the Democratic Presidential candidate who became President-elect. He will be sworn in as the first ever African-American President on January 20, 2009.

With honor, I supported and campaigned for Barack Obama through online blogs and discussions, and also through word of mouth. I knew I could not vote as a Canadian, but I understood that it was imperative for change in America in order to instill much needed change around the world. That’s what prompted me to impact votes for the 2008 US Presidential Election.

Barack Obama delivered his Presidential victory speech at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois before a massive supportive crowd with citizens and celebrities alike. Obama’s speech will go down as a historical ending to a chapter in history that lasted 45-years, while beginning a brand new chapter in history.

Martin Luther King, Jr. began the 45-year old chapter by saying “I have a dream,” on August 28, 1963.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.”

“And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual – free at last, free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

Barack Obama was that man who finally broke the barrier and answered Martin Luther King’s dream for everyone worldwide. You will not be judged by the colour of your skin, but rather by the character you exude. If you can become President of the United States, you can become anything you want!

Onset of becoming President in 2009, Barack Obama delivered a Presidential-elect victory speech like no other. Everything you ever wanted to say but felt as if you were being politically incorrect was finally said, and that is what change is all about. Barack Obama is about the people!

Here now is Barack Obama’s entire victory speech:

“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

It’s the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and he’s fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the months ahead.

I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on that train home to Delaware, the Vice President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.

I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nations next First Lady, Michelle Obama. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that’s coming with us to the White House. And while she’s no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure.

To my campaign manager David Plouffe, my chief strategist David Axelrod, and the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics - you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you’ve sacrificed to get it done.

But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to – it belongs to you.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn’t start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington – it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.

It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generations apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory.

I know you didn’t do this just to win an election and I know you didn’t do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime – two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they’ll make the mortgage, or pay their doctors bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America – I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you – we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it’s been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years – block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it’s that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers - in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House - a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world - our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down – we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security – we support you. And to all those who have wondered if Americas beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

For that is the true genius of America, that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that’s on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing - Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.

She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn’t vote for two reasons - because she was a woman and because of the colour of her skin.

And tonight, I think about all that she’s seen throughout her century in America – the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can’t, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.

At a time when women’s voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.

When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.

She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that We Shall Overcome. Yes we can.

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves - if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth - that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

There we have it – a moment in time that generations upon us will be talking about and we were the ones who lived through it!

Upon victory or defeat, Barack Obama will be conducting an outdoor speech in Chicago, Illinois tonight in front of more than one million people. This comes to us after a historical campaign that saw the very first African-American Presidential candidate in United States history.

Just like Democratic John F. Kennedy became the first and thus far only Catholic President in American history in 1961, the Democrats look to again make history now on this night. Presidential Race 2008 - Grand Finale

The Presidential race is finally nearing end with the nation in the process of electing their 44th President of this great country, The United States of America.

The representation of all party candidates is on the ballot and they have all presented their election manifestos to the electorate.

The decision lies in the hands of the voters to make the right choice.

While the entire world’s eyes set on this election due to its significance and the historic nature, the weight of the world indeed, rests on the American electorate.

Therefore, my plea to every citizen fortunate enough to exercise the fundamental right in a democracy is to cast his or her ballot on this Election Day and be part of history.

As stated earlier in my previous blog postings, like all elections, there are relevant differences between the candidacies for the senate, congressional and Presidential race.

It is equally important to pay attention to various “Propositions” presented in lieu of “Referendum” in democratic elections.

Our nation has suffered enormously in the past eight years.

The wound is fresh and requires time for the healing process.

The only way to expedite is by making the right choices in all of the above races.

As much as I would like to remain bipartisan on this day in terms of encouraging all citizens to vote for their respective candidates and issues, I am also obligated to guide the nation in the right direction of peace, progress and prosperity for all.

It is my honorable duty and specific purpose of this life to fulfill the responsibilities towards not only the citizens of the United States but the entire world.

With all due respect, to the Republican Party candidates Senator John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin and all other third party candidates listed in the http://www.politics1.com/p2008.htm, I appreciate their interests and patriotism to serve this great nation.

However, when compared to the specifics of the policies,

Both Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden offer dynamic leadership brimming with confidence, determination, zeal, enthusiasm, honesty, integrity and above all sound strategies for the present national and international situations.

The term “change” has been the theme of the Presidential race.

In all fairness and propriety, the actual agent who initiated and overwhelmingly enforced this message of “Change” is none other than, the Senator from the State of Illinois, Senator Barack Obama.

In fact, Senator Barack Obama truly believed in his heart that the country desperately needed to change its course and felt the urgency to implement the method in this election.

Undoubtedly, all candidates worked hard tirelessly in this campaign and dealt with compliments and criticisms alike from all sides.

Senator Barack Obama introduced new mechanism and demeanor in this political campaign.

For most part, Senator Obama had to fight tenacious battles to reach the finish line during the Democratic Primary election and then in the general election as well.

Senator Barack Obama displayed a decorum seen unlike before.

Throughout the decision making process in this election, Senator Barack Obama has come across as a leader with an ability to sail through rough seas with a calm composure and reliable in reaching the shore safely.

Despite several negative attacks, innuendoes, divisive politics, Senator Barack Obama maintained an impressive personality to accept not only his own mistakes but also others as part of human nature.

As stated earlier, being infallible is not in human condition.

Senator Obama and Senator Biden, despite the unfortunate Gaffes proved their ability to rise to the occasion and demonstrate leadership qualities essential to lead the nation in the right direction.

The reason behind our current national status is due to the lack of strong leadership in dealing with any challenges and crisis.

Placing emphasis on these characteristics is all-important when choosing a leader of a powerful nation that has the responsibility to lead the entire world.

The United States of America is on its knees with insurmountable debt, tarnished image and severe credibility crisis.

The current administration’s reckless policies and lack of chivalry in the governance of the democratic nation is responsible for the present status.

None of us can afford to let the nation sink in the treacherous sea of debt and destruction through on-going wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It takes a nation to elect a leader, the President of the United States, the “Superpower” now and in the future.

Last night in Des Moines, Obama supporters held a Get Out the Vote Rally with special guests Governor Chet Culver, Senator Tom Harkin, Congressman Leonard Boswell, Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge and other elected officials.

Vote Today For Real CHANGE The time is now, we have gone past midnight.

Across all of the United States of America, voting has begun for the 44th President.

As a Canadian I don’t have to care, but I do. Just as I care for my next door neighbours, I care for America too. When I see my neighbour sad, I feel sad, but when I see them happy I feel happy.

I want to see that America I once loved during the 90’s. President Bill Clinton was commander and chief and riding high with an economical surplus. Times were good.

With all the hits Barack Obama has taken from media, John McCain, and Sarah Palin, he has shown the strong will needed in order to survive in the oval office. After all, it’s not about how hard you can hit, but rather how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward without any deviations.

There’s no question that Barack Obama has taken the hits from every corner, and while none of them have been warranted, none of them have affected him either. He’s stayed true to his word.

As a Canadian I unfortunately do not have the privilege of voting. What I can do though is impact your vote and I feel as if I have done so. Many Republicans have taken their time to email me and thank me for the insight I have opened them up to. As a result they will now be voting for Barack Obama.

Obama has been there with the middle-class of America right from the get-go. He’s lost both parents and he’s suffered through financial pain. He knows what it’s like to be hampered with health care payments. His mom was even being bombarded with insurance bureaucracies while she was on her deathbed with cancer.

Americans suffer through those same pains everyday and as President, Barack Obama looks to eliminate as much of those pains as possible by lowering taxation for 95% of Americans. So if you’re making less than a quarter of a million dollars, then you will see your taxes reduced. Big corporations and the upper-class can once again see their taxes due in the same amount as they were in President Bill Clinton's term.

I’ll retort to my earlier comment in the fact that when I see my neighbour unhappy, I feel unhappy because it’s an atmosphere around me that begs for help. Big corporations and the upper-class of America should share those same feelings.

Vote Barack Obama for President and Joe Biden for Vice President once your polls open.

Warning!

Apparently folks in North JeffCo are getting up to a dozen call a day telling them to vote for Obama.

They cannot becoming from the Obama campaign. This is because:

1. Many come after 9PM at night - even before the caucus when all is disorganized, the calls were NEVER made after 9pm.

2. The callers can be traced to northern CA, Ohio, and PA. The Obama campaign would not take people from Ohio and PA, which are swing states, to call another swing state fo CO. The calls from CA say that they are a part of an "Obama Club." We know how unlikely it is that there would be an Obama Club in our own state. With the 50 state strategy, that is true in EVERY state. An "Obama Club" is more likely to be what the McCain Campaign would like sounds reasonable - but of course it isn't.

3. The republicans successfully did this in the last Congressional race in Western NE, when the wonderful Scott Kleb was running. They called people at 2:30 in the morning saying that they were Scott Kleb. This was the ONLY reason he lost. (He is running for Senate - and now western NE will vote for a Dem, for sure!)

What can we do:

1. Prevention: As we call and canvass, warn people that these calls are coming, so the voters are prepared, and make sure they know that the campaign is LOCAL, and this type of call does not come from the campaign. Ask them to tell everyone they work with and all their family.

2. Cure: If you live in these areas, you also are getting the calls. If you call and say you are from the campaign, folks are likely to hang up the phone. Instead, you can call and say that you are getting these phone calls. Ask if they are. Then tell the folks that these calls do not come from the campaign, that the campaign is LOCAL, and they are also calling you, and tell the story of Scott Kleb.

Start Now!!!!! Warn everyone you talk to in CO!!! These are NOT campaign calls!!!

Kids for Obama Coloring Sheets

I was volunteering at my local headquarters this evening - doing some data entry, making calls, hanging signs, etc. There were some kids off to the side in a small area they had setup for them. I took some time to engage these kids and help them make a sign to hang on the wall of the headquarters.

In doing this I was reminded of something that I saw a while ago and thought was pretty neat - Obama coloring sheets for kids. The one I found online was of the older logo, so I took a couple minutes to update and post them here.

So, if you are going into a headquarters to volunteer print some of these sheets off and take along some crayons. It’s a great way to get kids engaged in the process…

How to Create Your Own Signs

I get many comments from people that want Obama signs, but have not been able to get one - either the order is taking a while to get processed and shipped, or they are unable to get to a campaign headquarters to get a sign, or their local headquarters are all out. This post walks you through the steps to create your own Obama signs.

First, you will need a version of the sign that you can download and print out. I’ve got several versions available for free download - some of the more popular ones are below…

20 Free Printable Obama Biden Signs - these PDFs are letter size (8½ by 11 inches) but can typically be sized up as large as you like.
Free Printable Obama Biden Signs (Larger) - these PDFs are tabloid size (17 by 11 inches), a great size for yard signs.
See all posts in our signs category - mostly letter size, but can typically be scaled up.

The letter size signs can be printed out on just about any personal printer. Some consumer printers are capable of printing the larger tabloid size, though probably not most. If your printer cannot print the larger size don’t worry - almost all print/copy shops can print tabloid size.

I used FedEx Office (formerly Kinkos) to print out my signs, as they had a simple to use online printing site that let me upload the PDFs (I went with the larger tabloid size) directly to the website and pick them up at my local FedEx Office. Their online tool allowed me to pick out the type of paper - for signs I’d recommend a thicker cardstock paper (I opted for a glossy cardstock). The cost of the tabloid size printout was about $3.

If you want to put the sign outside, I’d strongly recommend laminating it. To make sure it is weather proof you will want to make sure that the laminate overlaps the edges of the sign making a water tight seal. To do this, I trimmed off the white edges from the printout and did the lamination myself (again I did mine at FedEx Office for about $4, though most copy shops can do lamination).

I opted to put my sign out in my front yard. Since I didn’t have anything to hang it from, I decided to stake it into the ground. I happened to have an old sign that I was able to use, though I think these go for about $3 at home improvement stores (maybe less if you can just get the metal posts)…

I use a wide transparent packing tape to adhere the metal posts to the back of the sign (I didn’t use the original “open house” part of the sign). Below is the attached sign, ready to go…

All that is left is to put the completed sign out in the yard…

We did NOT vote for Barack Obama

All too often, we have heard that 'Blacks are only voting for Barack Obama because he is Black.' However, we did NOT vote for Mr. Obama for several reasons - reasons that we considered very carefully. We voted based on what we felt was in our best interest. (Yes, we are indeed selfish.)

Although we were not in favor of the bailout, we voted for the man who proposes a healthier economic plan for the Nations.

Moreover, we had our doubts when the NCLB Article 107-110 was written into public law and we were sicken that it would not benefit the entire Nation. However, for the sake of our future, we felt it was imperative to give our vote to the man who proposes to make it better for not just the elite, but for all people.

Oh and yes, we voted for your children as well as all the other youngsters because they have a stake in our future. (We sincerely apologize for being so selfish.)

We voted for the Tax Credit worth $4,000 to cover 2/3 of college tuition so your children will be prepared for not only their future, but ours as well.

We voted for all those that truly desire a better America.

We voted for the man who has given 100% of his votes in favor of Unions.

We voted for the employee who makes less than $10.00 on one job and $15.00 on the other [just to make ends meet for his family].

We voted for those that live in the government-ran underground tents.

We voted for the man who encourages new jobs for United States citizens.

And when it pertains to those who are facing foreclosure, we voted for the man who stated, "We need to give people the breathing room they need to get back on their feet," and propose leniency for those suffering in this economic crisis.

We voted for the children of this Nation, as we are so tired of having family's cry when their loved ones return home in body bags.

When we looked at that ballot, we looked at our relationships around the world and knew that we would not be able to clearly select a better candidate when it comes to the safety of this Nation.

We voted for the man who will always consider what is best and safe for our Nation first and then propose to act with skill when dealing with disharmony in other Nations.

We voted to have a new Department of Veteran Affairs that we will help all U.S. Veterans and will give them the care and benefits that they have rightly earned and deserved.

We voted not based on a person's race or gender. Yes when we were born, we were documented as a particular race and gender, but most importantly, a human with a heart and a conscious. When we made our selection on the ballots, we voted for whom we thought was a clear choice.

We voted with a clear conscious; never will it ever be based on color or gender, but what the candidate can do for US.

We voted for those millions of children and their working parents who do not have affordable healthcare. Oh and we voted for Joe the plumber too because we are aware that he is either confused or mislead and/or a highly paid mascot.

We voted for our salaries not coming close to the "the average income" of $250,000.

We are aware that there will be SOME Black people that will feel a need to vote for Mr. Obama based on the color of his skin, but oh there is much more than that. We were once supporters of John McCain and when he ran for the White House against GW Bush, we were behind him all the way. However, Mr. McCain HAS changed!

We voted for what we thought was best for not only the United States of America, but also the world and so, it was clear to us that we had to fill in the space next to Obama and Biden.

We voted for our deceased parents. No, not because they would have loved to see Barack Obama sworn in as the first Black man of these Nations, but because they suffered working more than one job at once just to provide for their children.

It is our hope that people of every shade and gender, vote wisely.

It is our hope that people of every shade and gender will vote for whom they think will work best for them.

It is our hope that people of every shade and gender will vote not only in this presidential race, but in each voting session. Do it for yourself, your family and the rest of the world. DO IT! Remain an active voter - ceasing any other registration problems in the future. ALWAYS VOTE FOR YOU!

Since the age of 18, we have NEVER missed our right to cast our vote; we NEVER have and we NEVER will. If someone offered 1 million dollars to skip a voting session, we would honestly turn it down. (That's just how serious we are about casting our vote.)

Good Or Bad Presidential Motives – What Inspires Your Vote? With anything, there has to be a captivating subjectivity that lures an individual into any given matter in order to prompt an invested action. When you look at Barack Obama and John McCain campaigning for President today with Election Day drawing near, you realize their inspired emotional connection they’re extracting on all of us. They’re living their lives to inspire you to vote for them, which in turn will allocate them the control over your country.

How do they do it?

They instill fear in you, sometimes for legitimate reasons or other times to dictate. Once you’re scared you scramble for a new direction and you’re likely to turn to your elected President or Prime Minister because that person has the biggest title in the country. The reason you turn to the commander and chief is because you were inspired to do so during a crucial time early on – the campaign trail. Depending on if that commander and chief stays true to his or her word during their time in office will determine whether or not you will remain inspired on following their word.

Bill Clinton inspired us all during the 1990’s when he took a country in great deficits and overturned the economy into one of the richest and most stable economies in the world, with its biggest surplus in history. Clinton stayed true to his word from words spoken on his campaign trail in 1992 and that’s why we followed him, and in most cases we still do today.

Bill Clinton was elected in 1992 and brought into the oval office in 1993 because the United States was entering a recession at the time under George H. W. Bush, and there were fears of that transcending into another Great Depression. Bill Clinton was able to use that fear and use proceeding Bush’s track record of some of the greatest deficits in US history as a way to inspire Americans for their vote, and it worked despite Clinton being “young” in comparison and “inexperienced.”

Fast forward to 2001, George W. Bush was elected into the oval office and he sure did not fall short from his father’s footsteps. He took America’s largest grossing era and detracted the economy down to its now largest deficit in history. Both George Bush’s have set records during their Presidential terms, and they’re both gutter performances. The United States are trillions of dollars in debt and are in a current recession, which brinks yet another Great Depression during a time of “economic crisis,” that is now spreading worldwide.

I don’t know how Bush, Jr. was able to do it, but he beat out his daddy on this one!

So who can fix this next round of recessionary times in America? Do we stick with the Republicans and pick John McCain because he wants to tax the middle class and keep rich families and corporations on top as they are? Or do we want to once again turn to the Democrats, the quintessential saviors of the 1990’s, and elect Barack Obama because he wants to reform America and cut taxes for 95% of Americans, while implementing standard taxation rules for the rich?

In 1992, George H. W. Bush was planning to enforce further military use in the Middle Eastern regions upon re-election, in continuing a Gulf War during recessionary time; however, the Americans said no by electing a new face in Bill Clinton to repair the economy.

Americans can basically copy and paste the history of 1992 and insert it into 2008, because now John McCain wants to continue George W. Bush’s plan in the Middle East by attacking Iran. Furthermore main staple countries like Russia, China, and Korea are on McCain’s target list while Barack Obama rather set his attentions on the fast sinking economy.

This is an example of history never being so important like it is right now folks. You can say no to John McCain today, just like you said no to George H. W. Bush in 1992, by electing the “young” Barack Obama, who has often been deemed “inexperienced.” Obama definitely cannot overturn the deficits into greens across the board during a 4-year term, but he can set America on the right track of surplus with the help of Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden, a man with over thirty years of involvement in politics. After the first term, the second term would be the time of economical surplus once again for America.

I have warned you all already that if you do choose to vote John McCain as your next US President, you will have to be prepared for the absolute worst. McCain would be continuing off the Bush path, essentially serving a 4-year extension of George W. Bush.

President Bush has already started the preliminary stages of a potential World War III by invading Iraq in 2003, and that war is still on-going. Bush has also in recent weeks invaded Pakistan and Syria. Let us not forget that a tie in with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has also been brought to forefront in regards to Georgia’s attack on Russia in August 2008 that prompted the Russian invasion in Georgia. Apparently President George W. Bush wanted to antagonize Russia into another war, and that immediately brought up fears of a new Cold War.

With all these future wars in sight during a John McCain Presidential run, why would you in your right mind vote for him and the Republican Party? McCain takes great pride in fighting a war, it’s what inspires him into thinking he’s a great patriot of America when really he would be sending more young men and women down to the depths of hell.

You have to ask yourself this question. Whose motives inspire you more? John McCain, who will continue to tax you in large scales while fighting countries around the world with the use of military force, or Barack Obama, who looks to change the financial direction of America through democracy as Bill Clinton did during the 1990’s?

Barack Obama delivers that captivating subjectivity that should surely lure your vote, because your vote should be one subjected towards a better America and a better world. History is on Barack Obama’s side for this one.

Can you see the beautiful golden glow of the dawn of our community's first truly happy morning together, in celebration of our victory over centuries of lies, murder, oppression and inequalities against our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters by state and ecclessiastical authorities?

At first, I felt disappointment when it seemed that Barack hadn't clearly stated his committment to the restoration of the civil rights that gays and lesbians are guaranteed by our Constitution. But then, as I observed him, and then after he released his several clear messages to our community, I had hope for the first time in my life that my Sweetheart and I might be able to live together in the same country (in America) after Barack's elected president. My beloved Dzmitry lives a harsh existence in a small homophobic European country called Belarus. Discriminatory U.S. law doesn't recognize my family relationship with him, because we're of the same sex, so I cannot bring him here to live with me as I could easily do if I were heterosexual. I keep thinking about what President Lincoln did to end the disgraceful and embarrassing dehumanization of our black brothers and sisters. He set them free by executive order, justly reversing what probably hundreds of more years would not have done!

My discernment tells me that Barack Obama and Joe Biden have come at just the right time. They are the only two candidates who have specifically and clearly stated that they will use their influence to clear away the debris that is still denying us our Rights - barred by hateful crowds of religious fanatics who have infiltrated and hijacked our federal and state governments and are trampling us like we're filth! The GLBT community may be the key lever to alter America's course so that our country doesn't lapse into a modern Taliban-like theocracy that would be far worse for us. Have you listened to all of Barack's talks and speeches, read his book, and read between the lines of what he and Joe have been saying to us? I'm filled with so much hope, yet the happy expectation as I ponder the immensity of the opportunity before us, makes it difficult for me to receive the hope. But the sobering reality of another possible alternative future that could overtake our country instead of a future with Obama, causes me to get off my duff and do everything possible to get him and Joe elected. The latest assault weapon for Senator John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin against their opponent Senator Barack Obama is the “Socialist/Marxist/Robin Hood” tag on him.

Such rhetoric and false propaganda is to create doubts in the minds of entrepreneurs against Senator Obama.

The distortion of Senator Obama’s policy leading businesses to believe that,

“In Taxing 1% of the population in the 40% tax bracket while shifting the tax burden to the top 10% percent with 70% of tax exacerbates the entities from active participation in the economic growth.”

The reason behind similar branding is the fair tax proposal presented by Senator Obama to alleviate the socioeconomic problems that has currently widened the canyon between rich and poor in our country.

Thus slowly but gradually eliminating the middle class in our society.

Senator Barack Obama’s tax policy is based on relieving all citizens including small and medium sized businesses earning less than or equal to gross income of $250,000 per annum from any tax hikes to offset expenditure.

This strategy creates financial liquidity among households and businesses alike that is desperately required to stimulate the ailing economy.

By exempting the average households from any tax increases, the consumer spending is generated that will benefit the Retail economy which in turn will permeate throughout the economic spectrum.

The strengthening of the Retail economy will boost the manufacturing, service industry… reaching all the way to the top of the corporate growth.

The Corporate growth means investment prospects for both private and public sectors resulting in healthier and consistent stock market performance that has been highly volatile recently.

It is simple economics.

Supply and demand forces determine a free market system.

Unless, there is a demand for any particular goods or services the supply chain link cannot remain in force.

Simultaneously, the demand can be a catalyst in the process only through affordable consumer spending.

This is where the small and medium sized businesses come into play with the tax breaks from Senator Obama’s policy.

It is noteworthy that small and medium sized businesses deal with wholesale industries for raw materials and other items ultimately owned by major corporations in a market economy.

There are valid reasons to embrace the market economy worldwide.

A. Induces competition apart from enrichment of ideas

B. Competition enables choices in quality and price

C. Controls inflation or deflation

Therefore, the retail consumers benefit from the market economy that facilitates all small, medium and large players in competing with one another effectively for common good.

All of the above factors directly and indirectly influence the fiscal, monetary and economic policies in a Capital economy.

Briefly, the cash flow offered through tax relief by Senator Obama to a substantial group of taxpayers who are also the consumers trigger consumer spending and exponentially elevate the economic status among various groups in the society.

It also eventually contributes to the wealth accumulation by the top ten percent in the society whose welfare alone is a major concern for McCain/Palin candidacy.

Ironically, the McCain/Palin candidacy in their zeal to own Capitalism as their trademark, fail to recognize the importance of fundamental growth in the lower and middle income groups vital for the survival of small businesses and retail industries, the structural components of a successful Capital economy.

Senator McCain’s tax policy to freeze tax increases across the board by asserting that the Bush administration’s permanent tax cuts to wealthy individuals and Corporations would miraculously revive the economy is a fantasy beyond reason.

It is worth remembering for McCain/Palin campaign that the current Bush administration, as their supporter will depart shortly leaving the nation with multi-trillion dollar debt, on-going wars in Iraq and Afghanistan requiring constant capital injection, declining dollar and hosts of economic commitments willfully neglected in the past eight years.

The undecided/swing voters in every battleground state must realize that there are no precise solutions from McCain/Palin candidacy to resolve the humongous challenges confronting our nation in the absence of any meaningful tax policy.

Senator McCain’s policy to create new jobs as economic solutions again fails to meet the criteria of capital requirement in the present economy with severe financial liquidity crisis.

In fact, the recent economic strategy to bankroll the corrupt and failed financial institutions with the taxpayers funds, along with the economic stimulus package by the Bush administration fits the profile of the political stigma - “Socialism/Marxism” except,

Here, the beneficiaries are the financial institutions and their wealthiest CEO’s rather than the taxpayers i.e. the average citizens.

Since, the same political party represents the Bush administration and McCain/Palin candidacy, it would be more appropriate to assign the factoid to the respective contenders.

Fact Check: In a progressive tax structure, Senator Obama’s policy to exempt the vast majority of taxpayers/consumers from tax increase would,

1. Promote economic status as highlighted above…

2. Ultimately, create a fair system of sharing the economic burden by all rather than only by the affluent ones.

Such farsighted and permanent solutions to persisting economic problems is in direct contradiction to the myth and misnomer cast by McCain/Palin doctrine against Senator Barack Obama to win the election.

Amazing oppertunity

Yesterday I had the opportunity to Barack Obama at a rally for change in Chester PA. It was an 8 hour drive for me followed by standing in freezing rain but it was completely worth it! I would do it again any day! Seeing him speak just reemphasized all my feelings about this campaign and the absolute necessity for everybody to work as hard as they can to get Barack Obama and Joe Biden into the Whitehouse.

Less then a week left. It's gone fast at times and it's gone slow at times now it seems like everything is happening very fast, this is the final stretch, the last push. Make calls, vote, talk to people and help out in any way possible. The light at the end of these past 8 years is finally here!

Our nation’s electoral process is nearing conclusion.

What is important for the electorate to understand is their role in this historic and democratic process?

By Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Richard G. Lugar
Through tragedy and pain, Americans have learned a great deal this past year about why foreign policy matters. In recent months, President Bush has made clear his determination to remove Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein from power -- a goal many of us in Congress share. But to date we've seen only leaked reports of competing military plans. These have reflected deep divisions within the administration about whether and how to proceed. The time has come for a serious discussion of American policy toward Iraq.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will begin in-depth hearings today. While the White House supports the hearings -- which have been coordinated closely by Democrats and Republicans on the committee -- administration officials will not participate at this time lest the president be put in the position of having to make critical decisions prematurely. Without prejudging any particular course of action -- including the possibility of staying with nonmilitary options -- we hope to start a national discussion of some critical questions.
First, what threat does Iraq pose to our security? How immediate is the danger? President Bush is right to be concerned about Saddam Hussein's relentless pursuit of weapons of mass destruction. It's true that other regimes hostile to the United States and our allies have, or seek to acquire, chemical, biological and nuclear weapons. What makes Mr. Hussein unique is that he has actually used them -- against his own people and against his Iranian neighbors. And for nearly four years, Iraq has blocked the return of United Nations weapons inspectors. We need to explore Mr. Hussein's track record in acquiring, making and using weapons of mass destruction and the likelihood he would share them with terrorists. We also need a clear assessment of his current capabilities, including conventional forces and weapons.
Second, what are the possible responses to the Iraqi threat? The containment strategy pursued by the United States since the end of the Persian Gulf war has kept Mr. Hussein boxed in. Continuing the containment strategy, coupled with a tough weapons-inspection program, is one option. But it raises the risk that Mr. Hussein will play cat-and-mouse with inspectors while building more weapons and selling them to those who would use them against us. If we wait for the danger to become clear and present, it may be too late. That is why some believe removing Mr. Hussein from power is the better course.
A military response poses other problems. Some argue that by attacking Mr. Hussein, we might precipitate the very thing we are trying to prevent: his use of weapons of mass destruction. There also is concern he might try to spark a regional war. We must determine whether resources can be shifted to a major military undertaking in Iraq without compromising the war on terror elsewhere. We have to ask how much military intervention would cost and consider its likely impact on our economy. And we need to determine what level of support we are likely to get from allies in the Middle East and Europe.
Third, when Saddam Hussein is gone, what would be our responsibilities? This question has not been explored but may prove to be the most critical. In Afghanistan, the war was prosecuted successfully, but many of us believe our commitment to security and reconstruction there has fallen short. Given Iraq's strategic location, its large oil reserves and the suffering of the Iraqi people, we cannot afford to replace a despot with chaos.
We need to assess what it would take to rebuild Iraq economically and politically. Addressing these questions now would demonstrate to the Iraqi people that we are committed for the long haul. Iraq's neighbors would breathe easier if they knew the future had been thought through in detail. The American people, whose sons and daughters may be put in harm's way, need to have that same sense of assurance. Simply put, we need to know everything possible about the risks of action and of inaction. Ignoring these factors could lead us into something for which the American public is wholly unprepared.

Biden Rally in Suffolk

This past week-end, my step daughter and I volunteered for the Biden Rally in Suffolk. We helped set up chairs and made posters the night before the Rally then came back early the next morning to volunteer again and ended up in the "cheer leaders" group! It was fun. Our group were to keep the crowd cheering, clapping and waving their arms as we waited for Joe Biden and then as he gave his speech. I heard that it was the first time a candidate from a presidential ticket has ever held a Rally in our city. Joe Biden was a dynamic speaker and actually rather handsome on stage! Paige was surprised when after the speech Senator Biden held a few babies, she didn't know that was an age-long politcian's thing.

Tomorrow Barack Obama is speaking in Norfolk at Harbour Park and guess what!? Yep, Paige and I are volunteering again! We will arrive at 4 p.m. and stay until after the rally which starts at 9:30 p.m. It's gonna be a loooooong but exciting day!

     I've been involved in local elections before but never a national one. This election means so much, and is so critical, that I just couldn't sit on the sidelines anymore. After the voting debacles of 2000 and 2004, this year we need a landslide win so nothing can be disputed.
     I don't talk politics with my neighbors that much. This year they know exactly where I stand thanks to two Obama/Biden signs on the front lawn.
     Today I finally had the courage to do something I've wanted to do for a couple weeks. I called some voters down in Pennsylvania to encourage them to vote for Sen. Obama. It was so easy. I watched the short video and within minutes was calling voters. It was a bit frustrating that many people weren't home this afternoon, but I was encouraged by the conversations I did have. All the voters were either definitely voting for Obama or strongly leaning toward it.
     I'm tired of the negativity and the lies repeated ad nauseum from the other side. With this blog, I aim to focus on how our nation can be healed and have its hope restored by a true sea change in thought and focus. That can only be achieved by the election of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
     There is a saying in Irish, "Ní neart go cuir le cheile." It means "There is no strength without unity." Our nation is bitterly divided. After the horror of Sept. 11, we missed an opportunity to keep alive the beautiful unity that bonded this nation over the weeks following that awful day. I believe with visionary, uplifting leadership, that unity and pride can be restored to America. I believe Barack Obama is the person who can do it.

To All the Nanas, Toots & Grans of This World

I came to support Barack Obama because I grew more and more fed up with the fact that in a world of plenty many children go to bed without a roof over their heads and hungry. I grew more and more disillusioned that the most powerful and the richest nation on God’s Earth could not feed, clothe and provide a large swathe of its citizens with the basic decency of affordable healthcare. Most of all, I was depressed about a senseless war that drained the whole world of the basic freedoms we were supposed to be fighting to protect. I wanted a sensible person in the White House and all the White houses across this globe who would not ban a mother from carrying a baby’s formula milk on to a plane without the humiliation of first having to taste it in full public view, or where a passenger travelling on an airliner could not carry a bottle of water through security but could buy a liter of whiskey in a bottle and carry that onboard.

So even though I am black, I was looking more and more for plain old commonsense. And on reading about Barack and listening to him I was shocked to find a man who bristled with just basic commonsense.

Then I discovered that he is just about the same age as I am. He is going grey like I am, travelled a lot and lived in different states and even territories like I have, nearly as handsome as I am, we both have African fathers who were not around much and he was raised by his grandmother as I was.

Now that last fact of being raised by his grandmother was truly the clincher. Because I know that there is no better love than that given by a grandparent for a grandchild. My grandmother went up to the heavens when she was over 100 years old. She lived in Africa and I had the good fortune of visiting her just over a year before she went up into the clouds to be a kool nebula. When we met for the last time we laughed and cried together, hugged each other. Nana stood up and walked me to the door when I left – she had not walked the previous three months!

Here was a lady of immense class even if poor. Here was a human being of endless compassion even if she was suffering ill health. She was always there for me whether I was genuinely ill or just playing her for a nice meal of calf’s liver which I drummed up when nine years old, that it had been recommended by the doctor because I needed more iron in my blood. And here was the surprise. She knew all along I was telling fibs about the calf’s liver and yet she indulged me. Here was a person whom in all the years I lived with her never once saw her lose her temper or raise her voice. Here was a woman who raised seven surviving children four of whom were college graduates and numerous grandchildren of the same calibre yet did not even have basic education.

Now I have not blossomed into a potential POTUS but I know deep in my heart that I would most certainly be a lesser person but for her love and nurturing; how she spoke to one more with her demeanour and eyes than her lips. She instilled discipline without the crop. She installed the work ethic without enforcement. But most of all she loved abundantly and unconditionally.

When my Nana left this Earth I went to help lay her to rest and I wept. Not of sadness but of the wisdom and incredible love that this world was being denied and the fact that my children, her great grandchildren never got to meet the most special woman who nurtured and shaped my life. Most times I speak to her quietly because I know she would ignore me if I shout or am too loud. She always preferred calm tranquility to bawling and most certainly brain over brawl.

So if you do not understand why Barack suspended his campaign to become POTUS to go see his ailing Toots and running the risk of losing his momentum and lead in a very hard fought and contested race with just two weeks left, it is because without a shadow of doubt, if he were offered the chance or choice to choose between his Toots surviving another year without pain or him winning the presidency, I would bet my bottom dollar that he would choose the former. Because that is how great, Grans are.

And I pray that Toots stays strong beyond the next two weeks to watch her kin show the World not only how the dignified office of the President of The United States ought to be executed but that the most powerful and still most respected nation on Earth does better using its enormous wealth compassionately than in combat. Let’s steal ourselves a moment to reflect for the new global and world order that will be unleashed in the reign of an Obama administration that set the benchmark for generations to come and for replication across the globe. For he is a man with our sensibilities and instincts who recognises that the next two thousand years cannot replicate the distaste and debauchery of the previous two thousand, for times are far too important for business as usual.

So tonight let’s all raise a glass of whatever it is we drink in salute and honor of the Nanas, Toots and Grans of this world without whom our gene pool beside other characteristics would be more the poorer.

Let’s humbly and without fanfare of our own making usher in not just new blood, instincts and ideals but a sense of community, belonging, fairness, respect and yes, responsibility. It is now our turn. Our generation has to make the rules now going forward, and as we judged those generations who failed before us as harshly as we have done, we must work ever so hard to live up to the aspirations and the mantra of our calling that ‘the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice but not by itself. For each one of us has to reach up and lend our weight to help bend it towards justice’. ……Gods speed!

I've attended two Obama rallies and the Joe Biden foreign speech in Cincinnati, Ohio, but it wasn't until I stood in the crowd at the October 9 rally in Cincinnati that I understood with certainty, the man standing a few feet away was going to be our next president. That was an overwhelming moment for me, to see this happen in my lifetime.

I usually write pro-Obama articles and post them on a few websites, but after my last rally, as I stood waiting for Barack Obama to arrive, I got caught up in the beauty of the multicultural, age-spanning, multi-ethnic crowd and the music playing in the background.

PERLMUTTER TRYING TO PREVENT VOTER FRAUD IN ARAPAHOE COUNTY

AURORA | U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter wants an independent election monitor to watch the polls in Arapahoe County because he doesn’t think the county is prepared to handle a potential rush of voters on Election Day.

Perlmutter made the request in a letter he sent to Secretary of State Mike Coffman and Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder Nancy Doty on Tuesday. Coffman’s spokesman Rich Coolidge said the office received the letter and will respond to it by Thursday.

The letter also included demands that Arapahoe County discontinue their policy of considering registrations where voters failed to provide a checkmark indicating that they do not have a Driver’s License or Department of Revenue identification to be “incomplete.”

Also, Perlmutter insisted that Arapahoe County provide adequate paper backup ballots at each polling location.

“The current policy is somebody who has done everything under federal law to register to vote could be declined or denied under the Secretary of State’s or Nancy Doty’s approach,” Perlmutter said. “People, if they want to vote they should be able to vote. That’s the bottom line.”

Doty responded to Perlmutter’s letter with an official statement.

“Despite the concerns raised by Candidate Ed Perlmutter’s campaign office, the Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder’s Office is confident that the election in Arapahoe County will be a fair and honest election,” Doty said in her statement. “We are working diligently to prepare for the upcoming general election and we are already busy processing the thousands of mail ballots that have been returned, as well as accommodating the many people who are participating in early voting.”

The comment failed to allay Rep. Perlmutter’s concerns.

“Does that answer anything that I put in my letter? No,” Perlmutter said. “I want to see if we hear anything back from the secretary of state, too. We’ll figure out where we go from there.”

The county is among the state’s largest and will rely mainly on electronic voting machines on Nov. 4. It’s also seen an increase in new voters, who have helped tilt the traditionally Republican county to the Democratic side.

Perlmutter, a Democrat whose district includes Arapahoe County, said many of those new voters will end up voting on Election Day and he fears possible long lines and potential problems with electronic voting machines could keep them from casting ballots. In his letter, he renewed his request that Doty stock paper ballots at every polling place so they can be used in case of any problems with the voting machines or open up more voting booths to reduce wait times.

Doty has previously said that the county has a plan to deploy paper ballots to any precinct where they’re needed. But Perlmutter said that there’s no reason to make voters wait while those ballots can be delivered or the machines are fixed.

“Not only would such a delay potentially turn away many would be voters, any widespread problems with the machines would paralyze the polls in Arapahoe County and disenfranchise thousands of citizens,” Perlmutter wrote.

About 60 percent of Arapahoe County’s 343,358 voters have requested mail-in ballots. Perlmutter said he wasn’t concerned about problems in nearby Jefferson County, where 73 percent of voters say they want to vote by mail. Jefferson County will use a combination of paper ballots and electronic voting machines.

Voters still have until Oct. 28 to send in a request for a mail-in ballot and can vote at early voting locations through Oct. 31.

Wow, so a lot has happened in the past 6 days since the site launch. Thus far, we've had over 10,000 unique visits from all over the world. The site got picked up by collegehumor.com, thedailybeast.com, stumbleupon.com, blogs.nytimes.com and a whole slew of blogs and papers. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed their first experience.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Obama, McCain and Palin are getting all the attention. Joe get's mentioned maybe once per 1 hour CNN segment. I think that's weird. Hopefully, those of you that are in need of that last little nudge to pick a candidate, find this site your fondest memory at the ballot box. I suppose that could go either way... haha.

Polls...good news, bad news...

Well, the new polls are out. The news is good, then news is bad. Barack and Joe are up according to all the polls. But as he said the other day. We can't get cocky and complacent. We still have to stay on our toes. We have to vote, we have to make sure we get others out to vote.

As you can see, he is leading in some states so far but in others he is behind. So we still have to really be on our toes and get the vote out. We still have 2 weeks to go and we can't get lazy and complacent now. This is no time to let our guard down.

Joe made a wonderful speech today in CO. At the end of his speech he called for McCain to take down the negative ads and the robo calls. I wish he would, but I am afraid it won't happen. He should, if he has any honor left. Go out with dignity and honor, but I don't see that in McCain. I guess I just don't see it in him, never really did. I may be wrong, but I just don't see it in him any more.

Well, to finish up... again I have to say.... VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Grandmother and I were watching the news tonight when the story broke that Senator Obama's grandmother's health has taken a turn for the worse. My heart goes out to Obama tonight. As I was sitting with my grandmother and taking in this news, we both got teary eyed. We have been working together on the 85andchange.com blog, as we have worked on so many projects together, and this news hit home. My grandmother was imagining what must be going through the heart and mind of Barack's grandmother, while I was thinking of the fear and love that Barack must be feeling.

I sincerely hope that her health is strong enough to get her through the next few weeks. Win or lose, she has accompanied Barack through his amazing life, and I'm sure it will be so satisfying for her to see this journey through to election day. And I am sure it is his hope to be able to call her, or see her the moment after he is elected the next president of the United States!

On behalf of my grandmother and myself, our thoughts and prayers go out to his whole family tonight, and we pledge to do whatever we can to get her wonderful grandson elected.

How to Decipher CHANGE to Undecided Voters. (Helpful for Phone Calls)

Introduce voters to CHANGE.

Obama in this campaign offers change in its most absolute way: change from failed policies but also change in terms of opening a new page which will burry the racial divide in this country. That change, as exciting as it sounds, needs to be defined so it doesn't scare older and less informed people, into voting for Obama. Change should not be perceived as ‘the unknown’ but “the fundamental”

You guys need to emphasize the long terms effect of Change so they understand the impact their vote will have on their children and future generations.

In terms of communicating race, I think you need to confront racism in a very considerate way so people understand this is not about electing the first African American president in history but electing the one who has the judgement to lead us out of this financial turmoil.
(Insist on the numbers: over 600,000 jobs lost)

When someone tells you the only reason why they wouldn't support Barack Obama is because he is black, tell them “this is not about Obama, this is about you and your children”.

When someone tells you, I like Sarah Palin tell them, “I hate to break it to you but chances are you're never going to sit with her. Once these elections are over, whoever wins will be presiding from the White House, and what will strictly matter then on are the ways in which their policies are going to affect your life, your children. Children can't vote but the impact of your vote, will be part of the legacy you are going to leave them.”

Talk about the power of democracy. (Insist on everything they are going against by supporting the McCain Palin ticket)

If we have a democracy today where women can vote it is because:

Þ Democratic President Woodrow Wilson stood up for Change in 1918 in support of the 19th amendment which forbid any state to deny any woman a right to political expression.

Þ It is the Democratic Party that promulgated Hillary to almost becoming the first female president.

Þ Sarah Palin goes against every thing Hillary has ever fought for:

Þ she is on a ticket which rejects Equal Pay for women.

Þ Insist on the fact that there are 10.4 million single moms in the United States who live with children younger than 18, up from 3.4 million in 1970 and that today more than ever, we need to support those moms so they can have a decent lifestyle and give to their children a sense of education. You can't say you support those women if you stand against equal pay and you stand against raising the minimum wage.

Þ And make the case that if you support the McCain-Palin ticket, you are also denying those proud American citizens the right to a better existence.

The Democratic Party never stopped fighting for the women's rights.

Þ In 1994, President Clinton provided $1.6 billion to enhance investigation and prosecution of the violent crime perpetrated against women by signing the Violence Against Women Act, which John McCain firmly opposed.

Þ This VAWA was drafted by Joe Biden who now runs on the democratic ticket as VP

Þ It is thanks to Biden that domestic violence became a public health policy and human rights concern. (You need to insist on that)

Þ According the National Organization for Women, which stepped out of its usual neutrality to proudly endorse the Obama-Bide ticket, every day in America:

Þ Four women die as a result of domestic violence bringing the number to 1,400 women a year.

Þ two to four million women of all races and classes are battered each year, and 170,000 of those violent incidents are serious enough to require hospitalization

Thanks to Joe Biden, this has become a real human rights concern.

If Hillary Clinton chooses to put pride aside and step up for a "rally for change" it is because she understands the vital necessity to all be on the road for Barack Obama.

By helping each others, women pave the way for their daughters, granddaughters in ensuring that they won't be denied any fundamental human rights.

As you know, many of these women are affected by the economy crisis and for McCain to stand firm and say that he won't raise the minimum wage is simply unacceptable when he supports sending 10bn$ monthly in US taxpayers' money to a country which has an 80bn $ surplus.

Yes, the war in Iraq needs to end and it will end under the presidency of Barack Obama.

Painting the surge as having worked does not take away the fact that this war, which killed 4,152 (as of September 3rd 2008) and wounded 30,568 American soldiers should have never been authorized. Isn’t it fair to remind people that 600, 000 Iraqi civilians, who had absolutely nothing to do with September 11th, were also killed in this war, along with thousands of other soldiers and journalists.

Careless of all the critics Obama has heard on his experience and position against the war, "soldiers have donated more presidential campaign money to Democrat Barack Obama than to Republican John McCain, a reversal of previous campaigns in which military donations tended to favor GOP White House hopefuls, a nonpartisan group reported Thursday", according to USA Today. Yes, soldiers are putting their trust in Obama and so should we when it comes to handling the economy and the foreign policy of this country.

So when John McCain says he is going to fight, ask yourself for what…or better yet, against what? Is he going to keep fighting against the elements so desperately needed for Change, like funding for education, funding for healthcare…?

John McCain doesn’t have a record to claim that he can bring real change. What has long years in Washington ever brought to a candidate? If it mattered so much why is Palin in a position which puts her heart bit away from the presidency, when more experienced Republican candidates are available? If he just wanted to rally the right wing base, he could have chosen Huckabee, if he cared about the economy, he would have appointed Romney but instead he opted for someone with absolutely O experience.

Are you ready to have Palin as President and take a 10% risk of having change? Well after all, McCain voted 90% of the time with Bush and a 100% in 2008.

If Obama wins, America wins and therefore you win.

You should have banners saying If Obama wins, America wins / If Obama wins, you win.

RE Vice-Presidential Debate

I watched some of the debate tonight, I've have been discussing the upcoming elections and politics quite a bit for several months now, I am a regular voters. Regarding the portion of the debate that I saw, I've discussed how you didn't offer any solutions but just engaged in Bush-bashing. I had thought to myself that it would be funny if Sarah Palin reminded you that you were running against her and John McCain in 2008, not George Bush. Now, I didn't catch the whole debate, so I'm sure that if you offered some good solutions we must have missed that part. However we also noticed that you seemed to be the most conmfortable and at ease of the two of you during the debate.

I won't venture to say who we think "won" the debate, because we don't look at at from such a simplified perspective. Some things that we look for in our candidates are real solutions, not just promises or slogans, but detailed information on exactly how they propose to resolve problems that we face, and we then determine if those proposed actions are aligned with our principles and govermental philosophies. I am sorry to say that rarely do we find politicians that are willing to give that amount of detail on either side of the aisle. I suppose that this is largely due to the fact that most voters do not tend to evaluate positions in regards to their principles and philosphies; hence they are easily moved by excitement, fanfare and pomp which is readily available through the various political camps and media outlets.

We are aware that candidates spin their positions in an attempt to appeal to an audience, we also know that many people create fallacious arguments to shore up their positions, many of these arguments may sound reasonable to many segments of the population, but are nothing more than a unintentional red herrings which neglect essential elements of the truth and confuse many people who do not deeply consider the issues and their positions.

One such situation is the argument regarding abortion. I believe an abortion would only be justifiable in the case of rape, or the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother. However, it has been termed by many as a "womans right to choose". Many of our leaders use the question of "when does life begin" in order to escape from addressing the issue, or even attempting to define the beginning of life at some specific point in a pregnancy in order to justify abortions. They may argue that the fetus is not viable outside the womb and therefore does not have a right to life.

All of these arguments and horrible distortions of thought which when followed allow the adherents to justify needless killings. For example, the argument that a young fetus is not human or that its abortion is ok since the fetus is not viable outside the womb is a fallacy because by removing a fetus from the womb, you deprive it of its proper nourishment and shelter. No living things are viable when deprived of proper nourishment and shelter. Does a man become un-human if he is left in the desert or lost at sea?

Secondly the search for the instant that life begins is an unjustifiable distraction from the real issue. We all know that the scientific requirements of life are that an organism eats, and reproduces. According to the scientific definition a fetus is alive the instance the cell becomes two cells and takes in nourishment from the placenta. Genetically a man or woman is a human and defined as such by his 32 chromosomes. A fertilized human egg qualifies according to this genetic definition as a human.

The phrase a "womans right to choose" is nothing more than a despicable euphemism for kiling the unborn. It is used by politicians to pander to voters, it is used by the people to justify selfish acts of of inhumanity and irresponsibility.

I am a fiscal conservative, constitutionalist, and believe in a limited government. I believe when people speak of penumbral rights derived from the constitution and speak of it as a living document they are treading on dangerous ground. There are many things I disagree on with both major political parties. My principles are hierarchical, some are extremely important, and others are flexible. The issue of abortion is at the top of the of this hierarchy; as such I cannot vote for you, Barack or any other politician who advocates abortions or seeks to defend Roe v. Wade; and I will not send you 5 dollars.

Live from Scranton...

Last weekend we made the drive to Scranton to see Bill and Hillary and Joe and Jill Biden. Lovely scenery through the Poconos, and about 7,000 people showed up. We waited in a long line along the Lackawanna River for over an hour to get into the indoor recreation complex where the rally was held.

Many people from different backgrounds, different walks of life were there: senior citizens, Hillary supporters, Biden fans, veterans, Catholics...such a diverse group all there for one thing: change. People were selling t-shirts and campaign buttons (and other things--one creative guy was selling men's red briefs with white trim that said "No more Bush" on the front. The gentleman behind us bought a pair for $15). Dozens of volunteers wandered around with clipboards to register everyone and remind us all of the security rules (no liquids brought inside, electronics on so they could make sure they were working).

When we finally got inside, rally signs were handed out to the VIP section ahead of us (firefighters and FTA teachers' union, I believe), but we got a few passed back to the rest of us. Lots of "Hillary Sent Me" buttons, too. Handpainted signs endorsed Biden and reminded us that Scranton supports Obama. A giant flag hung on one side.

The heat overcame a few people, despite the air conditioning. We were packed in tightly trying to see. We had a good spot next to the stage. Jill Biden spoke first, and then Bill took the stage. Hillary spoke next and introduced Joe Biden. The crowd was excited throughout and were really charged up.

I highly recommend attending a rally if you can.

Why I Am Voting for Barack Obama

I am voting for Barack Obama because I undoubtedly believe in his ability to bring about change in a time when we so desperately need it. He is authentic and compassionate, intelligent and honest. I admire him for many reasons, one of them being the way he remains calm, cool, and collected, even in times of challenge, frustration, and untruthful smears on his character. I admire him for remaining confident and reasonable. I admire him for standing up for what he believes in, for standing up for the American people, and for standing up to those who don’t. He is the candidate who deeply cares about us, and unlike McCain, has articulately explained how he will deal with the enormous issues we face, such as our plummeting economy, failing education system, housing crisis, climate change and the disgraceful war. While Obama and Biden support civil rights, women’s rights, students’ rights, and human rights, McCain and Palin wish to make abortion illegal under every circumstance (even rape and incest), deny rights to LGBT people, and continue the failed Bush policies of the past 8 years. McCain has voted with Bush over 90% of the time. It’s time for a change.

We cannot afford to lose this election, and I cannot stress that enough. We have survived 8 years under a terrible administration, and it is almost, almost over. We cannot let this opportunity slip through our fingers. A leader as intelligent, progressive, charismatic, and inspiring as Barack Obama, rarely comes around, and even more rarely, gets this close to becoming the President of the United States. If we don’t do everything in our power in the next few weeks to get him elected, it will be too late. This is not the time to procrastinate.

If he had fallen into the 95 percentiles which qualify as the regular Joe or the middle class, I would have understood but in his own words “if you are successful” should you be penalized.
