Obama Raises $150 Million in September

DUNN, North Carolina (CNN) -- Barack Obama's campaign announced Sunday the Democratic presidential candidate raised $150 million in donations in September, setting a new high-water mark in campaign fundraising.

Barack Obama calls a prospective voter from a headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday.

In a campaign video, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said a record 632,000 new donors gave to the campaign, with the average contribution under $100. More than 3 million donors have given so far.

The Obama campaign raised $65 million in August.

Regardless of the stunning haul, Plouffe told supporters the campaign still needed more money because of "the slime that we're getting from the McCain campaign." Plouffe cited recent attack ads and automated phone calls in battleground states and said the campaign needed to have every resource to "fight back."

"Their campaign is going to descend even more into the gutter," he said.

Plouffe also said the campaign was expanding its reach to compete "aggressively" in West Virginia.

We had an amazing Fundraiser this past weekend. It was held at Margarido House in Oakland, CA, the first Northern CA LEED certified home-this means its super "green." It is a beautiful home that is a great example of what homes and businesses could be in a sustainable environment under Barack Obama.

We raised over $5000, had over 100 guests touring the home and just hanging out, there were loads of young kids racing around, live music, and such a great Obama vibe. Several guests and donors came to me to thank us for giving them a place to participate. One man siad he wanted to give and support the campaign but just didn't know how. Finally, this was a place that he could "plug in."

When people say they don't have time, I now ask if they have any money to give instead. If they say they have no money I ask what extra time might they have, even if just 30 minutes for a few phone calls.

I am a mother of two small children and work full time. Perhaps I am not like a normal person as I am more than willing to sacrifice my time and relationships for this brief period to help make history. This is too important. If we don't have time now, when will we have time?

Young and Powerful for Obama

I never expected to be involved in the political process of America. For a long time, I thought it would be better to just organize in my community so I wouldn’t have to deal with all of the backstabbing, smearing, and party dueling of politics while making a positive impact in society. No, it is not that I’m not cut out for it. I felt that it was a waste of time, and a part of me still feels that it is. I am an individual who has overcome many obstacles--big & small. I was born and grew up on the South side of Chicago with two parents who emigrated from Nigeria. Most of my child-hood friends are still poor, have been killed due to violence, or sell drugs. I recently graduated from UW-Madison, one of the top universities in the county, via a POSSE full-tuition scholarship. I have a started my career in Finance and organize in the community as President of the alumni chapter of my fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. I organize because always thought it was best to keep the common touch and politicians usually lack that. But one day I decided to organize for a candidate. His name is Senator Barack Obama.

One of my frat brothers, Jarvis Houston, was visiting from DC and crashed at my place while attending a political training in Madison, WI. Later that day, we were helping another brother of ours move out who recently graduated from medical school and Jarvis began to talk to me about Young & Powerful for Obama (YP for Obama) and the fundraisers they hosted in the past year. He stated that YP for Obama has one final fundraiser left which would occur in six cities (Madison being the seventh) on the same day. We rambled back and forth and I was really reluctant because I had a lot on my plate with the alumni chapter, new job, and new life as a “grown up.” Senator Barack Obama was someone I was familiar with—politically and I was going to vote for him in the election. And even though I really like him as a candidate, I still didn’t want to get involved. Jarvis left after his training was over and told me to think about it. What made me change my mind was all of the training and organizing I experienced in school, in the frat, and in the community. I knew that my involvement should not go in vain and if I were ever going to get involved with real politics this would be the time. YP for Obama was founded by young professionals who were leaders and organizers in college, and now, as young professionals, are still involved only part-time. Besides the issues, the more I learned about Obama’s personal life, my life, and how the other city chairmen’s background intertwined, I was almost certain this was the right route to take. Months after, when Senator Obama gave his nomination acceptance speech, my mother called me as soon as Senator Barack was done. She started screaming with her still “fresh” Nigerian accent, “Remi going to be President, Remi going to be President.” I don’t honestly think she believes I’m going to be President one day, but that Senator Barack Obama was giving her and me inspiration. I never heard her speak like this about anyone. I can tell, she doesn’t have to actually utter the words, but his message and actions epitomize the true principles of America. For me, there is no turning back. YES WE CAN.

Howdy to all my Grassroots Finance Committee colleauges!

I want to encourage you all by telling you that I've raised $10,000 through grassroots fundraising already. And i'm going for more!

I started raising money before the North Carolina primaries. I rode some coattails into a meeting that David Plouffe and some campaign finance staff people had with big donors in Raleigh. Being there inspired me to set my own fundraising goal. So on the way home I called everyone in my cell phone contact list and asked them to donate to the campaign. Once I got home I set up a page here on my.BO.com.

Once I had everything set up, I used two main fundraising techniques, which I'm happy to share with you here.

The prayer cards are free to download. I have a link to my fundraising campaign here for any contributions people wish to make in exchange for the cards.

Why are people afraid of donating online?

I'm holding a fundraiser at my house in a couple weeks and I must say I'm pretty irritated that out of 12 RSVPs only one of the attendees has donated online. The others have made a pledge and will be bringing their donation to the party. This is, by the way, a gaming party (my unique way of attracting attendees), and the group skews young. Despite that, most of the people coming continue to cling to an old-fashioned method of money transfer. I don't understand it.

It makes life harder for me. I have to manage their checks and collect their information to properly report the donation. It's also going to be awkward demanding money from them as soon as the enter the door, but I'll have to do it because it is a fundraiser and not just an opportunity to drink my beer.

But just as importantly, it makes life harder for them. Checks cost money and take more effort to fill out and manage than simply entering credit card information online. You have to manually track your expenses instead of having them tracked for you on a credit card statement.

I have no explanation for this 20th century behavior. I'm happy to hold this fundraiser, though, because without it these people would probably never donate to Obama's fight for the presidency.

The factually inaccurate and exaggerated speech bashing Barack from the lipstick wearing pit bull delivered at the RNC convention on Wednesday inspired 130,000 donors to give money to the Obama campaign.

To the tune of $8 million in 24 hours!!!!!

Who would've guessed that Sarah Palin would be such a great Obama fundraiser????

An Obama campaign rep said they were on track to make $10 million by the time John McCain took the stage Thursday night.

Wonder how the fundraising is going for the GOP these days?!

Last night, around 500 people showed up for a concert benefitting the Minnesota Campaign for Change headlined by indie rock group Low, percussionist Dosh, and rapper P.O.S. at the Turf Club in St. Paul.

Folks were also treated to performances from Tapes N' Tapes, Kill the Vultures, STNNNG, Skoal Kodiak, TRL, Plain Ole Bill, Nikoless, winsihp, Hymies, Mike 2600, Norton Fortune, and Clint Simonson.

Regional Field Director Maggie Thompson told the crowd how they could get involved--from doorknocking during the RNC to texting MN to 62262 to learn about upcoming events and rallies.

Supposing I wanted to host a fundraiser for Barack at PinkTaco, Century City. Suppose I could get management to give us VIP treatment. To whom would I propose this idea? It could be a great place to gather momentum among a very hopping 21-35 crowd... all we have to do is show up (perhaps regularly) and have a good time going over current events and discussing a future we all want.

If enough people respond, I can get us set up to succeed there.

Congress Probes McCain Fundraiser's Iraq Contract

An NBC News exclusive report that ran on msnbc.com about an unusual Pentagon fuel deal has sparked an inquiry by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, according to the committee's Web site. As the NBC News report said, the lucrative contract to ship fuel through Jordan to Iraq involved an influential group of people, including Florida businessman Harry Sargeant III, who is now a top fundraiser for Sen. John McCain's presidential bid. It also involved the brother-in-law of the king of Jordan, who is suing Sargeant, alleging fraud. Sargeant is the president of the International Oil Trading Company (IOTC), which won the contract. The Committee Chairman, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., sent letters requesting information about the deal. One went to Sargeant, the politically active company president. Sargeant, who has raised over $100,000 for McCain, was listed on June 3 as the co-chair of the McCain Victory Committee in Florida. The other letter was sent to U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Both letters cite the msnbc.com report, and request contract information.

If this came from your organization, I must express profound disappointment that anyone claiming to be a follower of Christ would stoop to lies and deceit as a way of trying to scare people. Is this the tactic that Christ used? Regardless of a person's political point-of-view, it should not be cause to spread thinly veiled racial and religious bigotry of the kind that the e-mail below does. More than two million angry Democrats are rejecting Sen. Barack Obama as the likely Democratic nominee for the presidency this year, according to a new protest organization.

"I hate to use this word but it's fascist, and that's the approach they're taking to silence any Hillary Clinton supporters," Will Bower, co-founder of PUMA/Just Say No Deal, an exploding coalition of voters who say they have raised $10 million in just days to pay down Clinton's campaign debt.

"Barack Obama wants to give his acceptance speech in a stadium because he intends to minimize any pro-Hillary supporter dissent. It's not because he wants to include more people. He knows that if they pull any shenanigans at convention, the Hillary delegates will walk out, and they don't want that to be seen or heard. They're bringing as many Obama supporters as they can to fill that stadium. It's fascism," he said.

The voters who still are supporting Clinton are doing everything they can to make sure that doesn't happen, raising an estimated $10 million since Independence Day to retire her debt.

I was so disheartened that Bush won AGAIN that I was committed to leaving the country for Europe (my wife is German) or doing something that would help change America for better. I needed to do my Kierkegaardian 'wrench in the machine' of the Hegelian necon oligarchy that is running the world rather poorly. So I decided, again long before I ever heard of Barack Obama, to make a movie... anyway I made Able Danger which has been touring the festivals and now i hope to bring it to the public on 9/11/08 and donate profits of the first week to Barack Obama. Because he's the future of America that I wanted to see and help bring about.

This notion of a fundraiser, albeit one of three events, to raise money to pay off Clinton's debt infuriates me. Why raise money for a multimillionaire who chose to spend her own money and whose husband has shown the ability to raise extraordinary sums, in relatively short periods of time, and whose existing business interests are likely to raise the Clinton's net worth into the orbit of the FORBES 400?

Will Obama ask people to give $25, $50 $100 of their hard-earned money to reduce the debt of a rich woman? Will these same people have money to give to their local charities, too? When the requests come from The Red Cross, or the local library, or The Salvation Army or The Fresh Air Fun, will these same people goaded by Obama to donate to Clinton, have anything left to give.

This is absurd as it is insulting. The wolves are not at the Clintons' door--not in Manhattan, not in Chappaqua and not in Georgetown.
Let the Senator pay her own bills, just as we're compelled to pay ours.

County Republicans for Obama Yard Signs

As result she had campaign debt $22.5 million upon her June 7 rally and celebration of historic HRC campaign, "feminism," and finally at long last "suspension" of her campaign.

HRC does not at all sound like a surrogate who can bring GOOD NEWS to the Barack Obama GE campaign just now. Clinton claims to be able to increase Obama's GE war chest by introducing him to her top donors next Thursday in D.C. Hmmmm.

Sans Clinton during the past two weeks Obama apparently got quite a few "solo" fundraisers going in Philadelphia, PA with Gov. Rendell and a very big dollar one in Virginia at Ethel Kennedy's renowned homestead__ the two I have sighted.

Barack's done advisory meetings with national security panel, armed forces, democratic governors, state economic tours across Virginia, MI, North Carolina and et al. Pitched in with supporters and sandbagged flood hit Ill. outlying area. Michelle has been politically active too.

So, her bad judgment to stay in the primary race after she lost resulted in her $22.5 million debt that she is now dumping on Obama. But she purports to being a fundraiser liaison for Obama?

Something is radically wrong in Denmark.

All the debt baggage she brings and the primary bashing she did to Obama do not make Hillary Clinton an Obama asset__but an liability, I think.

Fundraising Notion & Logistical Dilemma

I'd like to put together a fundraiser in Brooklyn or elsewhere in NYC for Barack Obama's campaign involving music of various sorts, art, dance, etc. I have a large music collection which I'd like to put into service for the cause. I don't have a venue, sound system or a location (minor details, I know).

I managed a very successful fundraiser years ago for a non-profit radio group. I have a lot of experience in music, stage management & management in general & would love to turn my knowledge & experience into funds for a progressive alternative to the madness we've endured for the past 7.5 years.

Is anyone interested/able to contribute their own resources, time, etc. to such a thing?

There are two main ways to donate to the campaign. One is through the main DONATE NOW page on barackobama.com and the other way is to donate through someone's personal fundraiser.

You are allowed to have one fundraiser for your account. You can make it personal by using your own story or make it in honor of someone or something in your life. Find the link to set up a new fundraiser, follow the prompts, and you will see it appear on your dashboard.

You can invite people to donate in the same way as you would invite them to one of your events.

When someone donates to your fundraiser, you will get an email letting you know about it and any personal message the person donated may have for you. When you go in to manage your fundraiser, there will be a reminder to send them a thank you note.

As with some of the other my.BO features, you will be given the person's real name, not their display name. If you want to know who they are on my.BO, just ask them in the thank you note!

It is not a good idea to use the group emails to invite people to donate. However, you can post it on your blog, in the community blogs, and even send out requests to your friends.

As with other invites, please DO NOT send your email requests over and over. Also realize many people have their own fundraising going on and some people only like to donate through the main donation link.

Posted: 11:25 PM ET Clinton lost a big fundraiser to Obama.

(CNN) — A “Hillraiser” – a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton – said Friday he had defected to Barack Obama’s campaign. The official announcement will be made next week.

Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon – who served as ambassador to Chile during the Clinton administration – had raised close to half a million dollars for Clinton’s campaign, reports Chuck Todd, who broke the story.

"We're just bleeding each other out," Guerra-Mondragon told the Washington Post. "Looking at it as coldly as I can, I just don't see how Senator Clinton can overcome Senator Obama with delegates and popular votes. I want this fight to be over, the quicker the better."

He added that leaving the Clinton campaign for Obama's "was a very, very difficult decision for me to make. I am an old and longtime friend of Senator Clinton. And I continue to think she is a fantastic and formidable person. But I am first of all a Democrat."

The Mayhill Fowler Agenda: Follow the Money

Mayhill Fowler, the writer at the center of the media frenzy over Obama's "bitter" remarks has a very strange pattern of political contributions which can be seen here

Evidently she contributed $250 to Fred Thompson's campaign in the last quarter of 2007 and then contributed almost 10 times as much, $2224 dollars, to Obama's campaign in the first quarter of 2008. Could it be that Ms. Fowler is a newly minted Obamacan? Most likely not, especially judging from her recent articles (see my earlier post here). Here is a possible scenario:

The tickets for the Apri 6th fundraiser in San Francisco, the event where Obama made the remarks that she spun into the current controversy, were available for a number of weeks before. If she had purchased a ticket or tickets to the event in the weeks before, it would show up as a contribution to the Obama campaign in the first quarter of 2008.

What is a more llikely explanation of her donating habits? That she had a sudden change of political viewpoint from Fred Thompson to Obama in a big way, or that she purchased tickets to a private fundraiser so that she could take Obama's remarks and distort them to help push her real political agenda?

We're dealing tonight with a classic Kinsleyian "gaffe," where a candidate says what he means and then is forced to account for it. Let's separate, for the moment, the politics of Obama's words from the argument he is making.

At his San Francisco fundraiser, Obama was sketching out a variation of the Thomas Frank argument about working class voters who seem to choose candidates whose policies cut against their economic interest. In Obama's version, working class voters in the Midwest have been inured to promises of economic redress because both Democrats and Republicans promise to help and never do; since government is a source of distress in their lives, they organize their politics around more stable institutions, like churches or cultural practices, like hunting. The outlet for their economic duress is in lashing out, in giving voice to their grievances; In Obama's formulation, Republicans are especially eager and willing to exploit cultural trigger points.

Meeting Senator Obama

Yesterday, April 6th, my wife and I were fortunate enough to attend the fundraising event for Senator Obama at the beautiful home of Nancy and Bob Farese in Kentfield. I didn't know what to expect as neither my wife nor I had ever attended an event like this. We were never involved in a political campaign before but, as we all know, circumstances are such that we must participate.

I won't waste your time on the trivialities but I would like to share my impression of what it was like to see him in person, actually ask him a question and shake his hand, face to face. All three experiences give a person a measure of a candidate that is not available via our modern media.

   Obama Holds LGBT Fund-raiser In New York City

     Sen. Barack Obama waded deep into Clinton
territory Thursday evening at a private LGBT
fund-raiser in New York City where the price of
admission was $2,300 per person.

   Held at the apartment of GLSEN founder and
executive director Kevin Jennings and his partner,
Jeff Davis, the event drew about 125 people and
raised $170,000. No press were admitted, but based
on several accounts, attendees were struck by the
Illinois senator’s candor as well as his fluency
with LGBT issues.

   “I’ve been to many events over the past 10 years
of candidates running for office,” said Corey
Johnson, one of the hosts, “This was the most
forthright, eloquent, and detailed stuff I’ve heard
from a politician [regarding gay issues].”

   Molly Lenore, 43, compared Obama’s discussion of
the LGBT community to the speech he gave about race
in America last week. “During his race speech,
everybody said afterward that he treated the
American people like adults, and I felt like that’s
what he did,” said Lenore, who is transgender and an
Obama supporter. “I might not agree 100%, but I want
to have an intelligent conversation with somebody.”

   According to those present, Obama spoke for about
30 to 35 minutes about queer issues and then fielded
questions, most of which were not LGBT-specific.

   Johnson, who is 25, has supported Obama for about
a year but prefaced his remarks by saying he has
never been an “Obama-phile.” He said the senator
addressed some of the most contentious LGBT issues
without prompting, such as same-sex marriage and the
inclusion of transgender people in the Employment
Non-Discrimination Act. In fact, those were the two
issues Sen. Obama singled out as being potential
disappointments to the LGBT community right now,
while he signaled that a hate-crimes bill could
likely be passed and signed into law and that repeal
of “don’t ask, don’t tell” might be on the horizon.

   According to several sources, including Johnson
and Lenore, Obama said he did not think it was
“politically feasible” to secure marriage rights for
same-sex couples in the country at this point. Sen.
Obama acknowledged that the community wanted full
marriage rights but said that he favored civil
unions for now while leaving open the possibility
that his position might evolve in the future.

   In terms of ENDA, Obama said he supported an ENDA
that included transgender protections but that he
didn’t believe a fully inclusive bill had enough
votes to pass the Senate at this time.

   “I don’t agree -- I think we’re much stronger
united as a community,” Lenore said of keeping
transgender protections in the bill. “But I do
understand the politics and I do appreciate the fact
that he said, hey, it’s not going to pass in this
political climate. Many other politicians haven’t
really done that. They make decisions but they never
really address the trans community.”

   Should he become president, Obama said his first
three priorities would be designing a safe exit
strategy for Iraq, working on affordable health
care, and addressing greenhouse gases and the
environment.

   As Sen. Obama made his way to the door, Johnson
said he asked the senator directly to do more
interviews with the gay press, citing the fact that
he has conducted only one interview with an LGBT
outlet during his presidential campaign. “I said,
‘Your speech tonight was so moving to all of us, the
way you spoke about our community. You need to do
more [interviews],” recalled Johnson. “And he said,
‘You’re right, absolutely. We do need to do more

NH Seacoast Supports Obama!

On Friday, March 28, a group of NH Seacoast Democrats, Republicans and Independents attended a fundraiser for presidential candidate Barack Obama. Participants included residents from throughout the region including North Hampton, Hampton, Portsmouth, Rye, Dover and Newmarket. Concerned by the recent negative tenor of the Democratic race for the White House, this group of Granite Stater’s wanted to send Senator Obama funds to support his campaign efforts in the Keystone state.

"Although the New Hampshire primary may feel like eons ago, those of us who truly believe in Barack Obama’s ability to unite not just the Democratic party, but the country, decided to do something to show the campaign that we are as passionate today as we were in January," said event co-host Margaret Rice, a Republican who organized the Obama campaign operations in North Hampton. Attending the event was committed super-delegate U.S. Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter. Recently back from a fact finding mission to Iraq, the Congresswoman spoke passionately about her support for Barack Obama and emphasized why she believes it will take his leadership to move the country in the right direction with regards to the war.

Hosted by North Hampton residents Ross and Amanda Peterson, the fundraiser gave Seacoast Obama-Manics a reason to gather, commiserate and plan for the general election. So committed was this group of supporters that several intend to travel to Pennsylvania to work on behalf Barack Obama in the final days of the Pennsylvania primary.

"As New Hampshire residents we had the unique opportunity to personally interact with all of the candidates and after seeing Barack Obama in person, for us the choice was clear. Given that the Obama campaign started here, an event like this gives his supporters a chance to regroup, recharge and reconnect with one another while at the same time raising funds to support his Pennsylvania effort,” said Ross Peterson.

Both Obama and Clinton supporters were given the challenge to raise $600,001 for schools in PA, on the website Donors choose .org- By Stephen Colbert, whose' supporters raised $66,000 when Colbert was temporarily on the S.C ballot for the Republican nomination.

On Monday March 24th we reached our GOAL!!!

So they upped the anti and gave us a new goal of $100,001!

We are working towards that goal and as I write this blog- we have raised $71,947 to Hillary supporter's $12,193!!

Many of you have probably already received this idea through email. But Ive decided that I'd like to plan some sort of luncheon-dinner get together. A kind of pot luck fund raiser for Obamas campaign. I live in Burbank which is in the Los Angeles county. I'd like to get some kind of feed back if possible from anyone with ideas or experience. And any support from people in my area would be super awesome. I was thinking possibly for some time in April? Ive posted bulletins up on MySpace and have joined several groups for Obama on both Myspace and Facebook and here on the official website as well. I'm so excited for this whole ordeal. Hi,

I am organizing a fund raiser for Obama in Salt Lake City. I already have an auditorium reserved for May 2nd and my thinking was to have some big name speakers to draw people in to buy tickets for and also to collect extra contributions.

I have done fund raising in the past but never for a politician. I've already into a question I can't answer to find out how much they're going to charge me for the auditorium and that is if we are for profit or non-profit. I would think a presidential campaign would be non-profit but then she needs some identifying number.

I have contacted several people I know in Obama's campaign and have not heard back from anyone. I also have filed the necessary form for an appearance request for Obama but I understand that takes a while to hear back on.

Anyway, I'm really needing some advice from people experienced with this - and volunteers for the committee too!

Barack Obama.

I know a little bit about who he is (enough that he interested me enough to check out his site), but do I know enough about him to cast my vote for him in the primaries? Even more, do I know enough about him to say "I want Barack Obama to be President," when that first tuesday after the first Monday in November rolls around?

That's the point of this blog.

I'll be posting interesting (hopefully?) things about Obama I find on the Internet, in magazines, newspapers and other media sources that affect my decision to vote for him or not. You may be asking what the point of all this is. Well, I could go on about how important it is for Americans to research the candidates they are voting to find who best represents their values and personal goals — and that is important — but truthfully this is all about me needing something other than work to do while I'm on the clock.

Hopefully I'll stay employed long enough to make an important contribution. I probably will post quite a lot. That is, until my boss finds out.

I am excited to report that my first fundraiser "Kickoff To Change" Holiday Event in Montgomery County Maryland was a great success. We raised a total of $800.00 for Obama's campaingn, with over 25 women in attendance. That's not bad for a first! Most people who attended the fundraiser were not Obama supporters, but by the time they left they were educated about Obama, and they ALL gave a financial donation. I had lots of literature for the guests to take as they left and encouraged each one to bring along someone else for the next event. I want to thank all who came out and supported our first fundraiser. Herman - Thank you for giving such a wonderful speech on why you support Obama. Hussein - Thank you for helping set up, putting up the Obama signs on the outside and inside of the house, moving furniture, etc. Thank you for being such a loving and supportive husband. Chiquita - Thank you for all your hard work, your support and dedication to the fundraiser. Nadia - Thank you for your phone support and being a great host and registering the guest as they came in and in handing out the Obama buttons to all guests. Tenika - Thank your for your supplies and the food. Sheila - Thank you for encouraging me to go forth with my plans, for your support, the food, and for bringing in Erika to entertain us with her lovely voice. Kathy - Thank you for the delicious cookies and your support. I want to thank you all for your support and I know that the Obama GFC is proud of all of you. Happy Holidays to all!

Just go back from seeing Obama in Harlem!

I just returned from a fundraiser at the home of Derek and Susan Johnson in Harlem. Their lovely historic townhouse was packed to the rafters. On hand were a number of local politicians and community activists. Corey Booker, mayor of Newark and Dr. Cornell West were also present.

Senator Obama gave a great talk and then had time to answer three questions. (He was due at the Apollo Theater for a sold out audience of 1500.) He started off his talk by joking about how crowded it was and how we must be breaking some codes somewhere. He noted though, that the windows were open and we were on the ground floor, so if anything happened, we could just jump out. He mentioning a few people in the crowd who were friends and supporters of his from way back. He mentioned only one campaign worker, Joyce Johnson, who heads up the New York petition drive, which is a laborious and byzantine process. (Go Joyce!!) His earnestness and passion were apparent to all. The audience members were thrilled to see him and paid rapt attention.

As the senator was leaving, I was able to shake his hand. (My husband got a picture of the back of my head and not much more.) When I figure out how to upload my other pictures I will post them.

Barack Obama has hundreds of thousands of people that have contributed to his campaign thus far. Imagine if 100,000 of them all contributed on one day - or even more than that.. What if we could raise 5 or 10 million dollars in one day?

Imagine if on November 15th Barack has an amazing showing in the next debate. With all of the news stations covering his performance, then we raise this unprecedented amount - making all the headlines around the country.

With a good debate and an unprecedented raising of funds all in one day, it could be enough to propel Barack to the presidency. We could begin the process of restoring unity in our country. Most of all, we can restore Hope.
