What I have noticed by watching these debates is that most of the Republican Senators are doing nothing more than Rambling.

They go on and on about what it will cost by 2017 etc. When will they Wake Up and Realize that if they do not pass this bill this year America may not be around in 2017. They should know this bill is the biggest step to rebuilding our economy and most importantly it is Urgently needed now to Save the Lives of The American Citizens.

On this basis, I believe the need for action is much more urgent than most decision-makers indicate.

In the field of engineering, so-called load assumptions are mandatory when planning an object (such as a building or aircraft). Accordingly the object is designed for rated loads (such as wind or payload) which are so high that it is guaranteed to withstand the actual loads (such as wind or payload).

Within a brief moment of time

I have been focusing on the greatest journey of my life.

That most amazing miraculous dream of one tiny little sperm carrying the worlds most heaviest load, the genetic information of generations and generations and generations....in order to enter into the dream world of a small egg awaiting for that wondrous moment to arrive. Here i am, the dream of a tiny minuscule sperm who has touched, entered and combined into the amazing dream of an egg. Generations of dreams combining in ONE brief moment of time. Two different distinctive dreams combining everything together to co-create a dream dreaming.

Within that brief small moment of synchronization of time and space. The combined wholeness of my dream was unified. Then began the second most amazing adventure of my life. From one miraculous cell to 100 trillion cells playing and dancing in a unified field of utopian nature.

Then from being focused inside the womb to looking outward to this.

in the "Save the Planet" issue I would like to focus on the market of the carbon credits internationally.

in most of the cases, taking present the actual financial crisis, the companies willing to invest in energy feel safer in investing in their country. this is because of several reasons:
political support, less costs, known territory, no administrative barriers with the banks, etc

All these happen in the companies that have a certain amount of liquidities that can use them in enlarging their business.

In the less developed countries, the great companies are equal to the medium or small companies in the industrialized countries.

this means that even the banks are not so developed, in some cases the banks are only a local business that operates and earnes money usually taking advantage from the lack of the competition through the different products that the banks offer.

imaging that in this country we have the possibility of producing renewable energy from the natural resources that the country offers.

the practice shows that the local companies collect documentation even from overseas companies in order to fulfill the requirements of law. if these companies take the contract of the concession from the state, they are in front of the fact that they cannot afford this business plan of investment. this because even from the banks.

the foreign banks do not enter in the market directly but through the local banks.

keeping present that the local banks finance an amount of 0.7 million for example if the company fixes a collateral of 1million, and even this in the best cases.

so, having the contract of the credit carbon in the hands, they are obbliged to sell it, as a licence, to the credit carbon market operators.

maybe they report that the energy plant from renewable resources is in operation so the carbon credits are used from an heavy energy in an industrialized country that burns carbon and destroyes the enviroment.

I think that market, that ultimatelly has reached the amount of 20billion of USD last year, is stopping the World economy and is trying to create a greater gap through the different places.

what if the poor countries begin to develop?

after 20 years we will have developed countries with heavy industry that cannot be stopped in the environmet reason and developed countries that will begin the road of the industrialized states polluting the environment.

Why won't someone in this admin take some time to understand the only logical pathway to energy independence is the stepped approach, natural gas is it for now!! Pickens understands, Cramer understands, Geithner probably understands but takes some time to share his beliefs, where is Obama? The obstinence of our current administration to review the obvious is just arrogant and I am thoroughly disgusted by this behavior.

Someone like Jim Cramer (and I am far from his advocate since his stock 'picks' are still only ~50% correct from the ones I've tracked) should be one of your advisors on this topic; he understands both the opportunities and challenges since he has open access to more independent thinking than your administration (at least it appears this way). It is all about jobs, ability to drive our own future without dealing with the threats of other countries and trying to get our country to a point where my children do not need to go to China or India to make a decent living.

Clean coal is vaporware and doesn't address the need for new job creation . As Cramer pointed out the other day, if we succeed in creating a powerful car battery to run our cars, guess what it needs to plug into to get juiced up each night... electrical outlets which are largely run by coal and unless you solve that 'clean coal' problem immediately, we are just back in the old pollution conundrum exponentially.

I just watched an inspiring video posted on HealthReform.gov that showed President Obama reading a few of the letters he gets every day. Most of the letters the President reads on this video are about health care.

The President reads ten letters every day of about 65,000 that arrive every week. He makes a handwritten reply to three or four per day. (The White House staff replies to all of them.) The video also gives us a peak at how those letters arrive at the White House and how they are selected to go to the President.

Eliminate Pre-existing Conditions Clauses, and Gasoline!

I am a survivor of Acute Meyloid Leukemia, or AML. I recieve care from one of the finest institutions in medicine, UC Davis Medical Group, with help along the way from Stanford Medical. I had a bone marrow transplant in 2005 and have been doing great considering the trauma to my system. We need to do everything we can to help with healthcare reform, and eliminate pre-existing conditions. The relief on Emergency Rooms alone will save countless taxpayer dollars and hospital's lost revinue. The other side of the equation is to improve our personal health and environment.

The "Benzene Ring" is the building block of Gasoline, paint and solvents.

I do not believe in prohibition, but I do believe that government can create strong incentives to limit the use of gasoline by endorsing clean diesel, biofeuls and natural gas production and consumption.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is obviously owned by the large oil companies who have their refineries in the San Fransico Bay Area. CARB continues to block efforts of auto companies to sell diesel cars in California, one of the largest and most important automobile markets in the world. If you can't sell a car in California, you can't produce it for sale in the US.

Barack Obama gave us the funding, let's get up and do something with it!

I am applying for a grant from the US Dept. of Energy (DOE), to create a prototype truck that will be powered by a Capstone Microturbine Generator, and use DC electric hub motors at each wheel, called the Hi-Pa Drive, manufactured by PML FLightlink of the UK.

Microturbines can be powered by Natural Gas, Hydrogen, Biodiesel, Ethanol, Methanol, Petroleum diesel, Jet Fuel, and Gasoline.

I just read a new book called Two Cents Per Mile: Will Obama Make it Happen with the Stroke of a Pen? Simply put, this book shows the open conspiracy going on between the Department of Energy and corporations to prevent the development of 100% electric cars. I don’t think Obama is fully aware of the consequences of moving toward a hydrogen economy and preserving the internal combustion engine. Renewable Energy

Renewable energy requires system engineering with storage devices. Why have utilities refused to provide storage? All US tarriffs presenlty provide income only for energy created from raw fuels. Energy that is stored and delivered later is not rewarded by new revenue. Energy storage has always been required as part of another project to build a power plant. Thus, no storage requires the building of fewer renewable resources.

It is time to redo the utility tarriffs in all states. Utilities should be paid for all services delivered in proportion to the value of that service. Then, renewables can come to the fore, even if there is the threat of open competition. The new generation of wind generators enable homeowners to detach from the local utility. How many customers can a utility use without rate increases? As the rates go up, more wind generation installations are justified, more customers leave the local utility. The utilities and the customers end up without a win win situation. Utilities have provided a system that has propelled the US into propserity, it is now time for them to refocus and enable the US to do the same again.

Wind power along solar and other alternate energy sources are badly needed in this country. Our dependency on foreign oil has placed this country in a desperate position. We must not allow opportunities to rebuild America's energy independence pass us by. Every part of this country needs energy and locally generated clean energy is good for everyone and it creates jobs that cannot be outsourced overseas. Every home grown energy source should be encouraged and explored. Wind energy has best chance to bring clean energy here and now.

Adding as much Wind power as possible, create stream line process to help expansion.
Plan and install new nuclear power plants (we are a nuclear power).
Tax energy useage of dirty energy sources to fund real expansion of local clean energy sources.
Help create enviorment for energy effient cars (30+ mpg), both manufacture and sales.
Reduce traffic by repairing/redisigning roads/intersections to keep traffic moving.
One standard for gasoline mixture, so prices do not rise during change overs.
Promote additional refining capacity distributed so that America is less effect by natural disasters or maintence.

America's Energy Policy is the most important task we face today and without fixing this I how can we fix anything else.

We often hear today that our government is doing too much too fast. Really?

We have an economic melt down that is costing hundreds of thousands of jobs every month putting us in an economic and financial crisis. We continue to debate the financial and climatic impact of an unsustainable energy policy that requires a transition to alternative, renewable energy. We have the year-to-year cost of health care crippling individuals, businesses and our governement (Medicare & Medicaid). We seem to lack a commitment to the fundamental requirement of an educational system that produces competent, world class citizens on a scale with other countries.

We need to know what our representation in Washington is doing about these critical issues. We need to let Washington know how we would like them to legislate on our behalf. We need to make every elected representative accountable for the actions they either have or have not taken on our behalf.

Become engaged - let Washington know where we stand.

Energy, our future

We are in crisis, an energy crisis. We have problems with our present energy providers, and are looking to replace with a new more efficient energy source. Electricity seems to be the energy of choice, but we need to do our homework. The President should also do his homework!

We as a people have a responsibility to follow what are leader suggests, ad try and help our country as much as we can.... "ask not what our country can do for us....but what canwe do for our country!"

Well, now is the time for the President to do for his country something amazing. I have come across a few articles that specifies the extension of battery life 10fold. This means for the same small battery we have 10 times the life.....OR for a battery 10 times smaller, we have the same amount of life.

Take this to practice on car batteries for electrical cars...this means a car with 10 times smallerbattery, means lss weight, and less production costs. Should this not instill a certai urgency, and should this not make the President want to invest some money in this company that cam across this new etchnology? You can read for yourself the findings....but this is a matter of national well being...and when they say 5 years before you see the first publicly available battery....I say, it should be 5 months...not 5 years!

Incentives are what we need, and I find the President is not doing as much as he could or maybe his cabinet or his "peeps" in charge of finding the new technologies that will bring the US out of their current energy dependent situation.

The Obama Doctrine On Pakistan

Even the idea that the Taliban could possess nuclear material is harmful to our national security. The President should declare that and have spies and satellites vigilant in Pakistan. In the event Pakistan military forces are overrun near sites containing nuclear weapons or nuclear energy material he ought to immediately order those materials utterly destroyed. The Taliban would use those materials in a dirty bomb. It won’t be enough to drop cruise missiles on them because that would merely scatter the nuclear material around, where Bin Laden’s people can collect it. Mr. Obama should be prepared to nuke them, and he should do it immediately, before materials can be relocated. Many lives would be lost in such an action, but they would not be American lives. While all life is precious, President Obama must act decisively to protect our lives above all others.

Government Spending Vs. Tax Cuts (Less Spending)

Lately, it is hard to walk into somebody on the street and not strike up a casual conversation about the economy. Everybody is worried about the economy. According to the latest Gallup poll over 70% of Americans trust President Obama's plan for economic recovery. However, do people really understand what the Government is trying to achieve? If we don't have an answer for that question then we definitely don't have an answer for the next question: is it fair to criticize the Government Spending approach to stimulate our economy then give more tax cuts to higher-income Americans?

There are two major indicators of the economy:

Labor Productivity
Consumption

There are two ways to stimulate the economy and they both move the labor productivity curve and consumption curve in the same direction. Both ways work to a certain extent.

The two models are

1) Tax Cuts

2) Increase Spending

We had seen two tax cuts during President Bush's administration. A tax cut is NOT a freebie, and after we get a Tax Cut we will see the Tax Increase at some point in the future because Taxes are a very important source of revenue and it is the right of the Government to collect Tax. Tax cuts come with the cost and as I said earlier, you can only make an adjustment to a certain extent.

Now let’s talk about the Government. The ideal government tries to satisfy this formula:

G+[G’/(1+r)] = T+[T’/(1+r)]

G stands for Govt. Spending

T stands for Tax

R is Interest Rate

In simple terms we call that a balanced budget. It can be balanced by changing either variable (tax or govt. spending). I won’t tell you that you are wrong because you like more tax cuts because it has the same effect as increased government spending. I find it necessary to increase government spending because we are already $1.5 Trillion in deficit and the problem is not on the supply side. The problem is with the demand side. People right now do not have money to spend. Only the government can spend money but I totally agree that when the consumption curve starts moving with the labor productivity curve then government spending needs to be stopped. Until then, the government needs to spend, and the majority of economists agree with increasing government spending. People are worried about budget spending, but spending fluctuates depending on how and where the economy is and all this spending in the bill is not a concrete number that needs to be spent. If next year the economy recovers then the government doesn’t have to spend money just because it has written a 1000 page spending bill. My anger is not towards the last administration because they were republicans. My anger is towards their spending pattern and the disparity in spending. Let me give you an example of FY 2008 Spending breakdown by department:

Dept of Education: around $ 80-90 billion
Dept of Energy: around $20-30 billion
Dept of Defense: $630 Billion
Health and Human Services: over $700 billion (We do need Health Care Reform)
Treasury dept: over $500 Billion (including interest on debt)
Dept of Veteran's Affairs: around $80 Billion
Total Debt: Over $10 Trillion.

That is where I have a problem: outrageous spending but nothing to grow a better economy. The problem is not with spending. The problem is spending without a plan. If we spend so much money how can we pay for it? What will happen when the war ends? What will it do to the unemployment rate when our troops come home? and When and How will the war end? In the name of protection, money was wasted left and right. It left our economy handicapped with the most devalued currency in a decade. The devaluation of American currency was another big factor contributing to the slowdown of our economy as we couldn't afford foreign-made goods--all of sudden those goods became more expensive. It hurt all the nations that depend on the United States of America for their products including China and the Indian software industry. That has raised the need for another global currency. People are saying President Obama is stealing from their kids and grandkids. What if there is no economy left for their kids if we don’t do anything today? Grand Theft was committed during the Bush Administration in the name of "No Child Left Behind." It is an amazing program without sufficient funding and I already gave you proof of spending above. The results were clear as glass: a record number of college drop outs. When India and China are producing a record number of doctors and engineers, we started producing a record number of HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUTS. I know we are better than this. If we are not better, then why would anybody come to America for higher education? Over 70% of students in higher education are foreign students. I had a hard time finding somebody who speaks clear English before I signed up for my classes in college. My math tutors couldn't even say any body's name. So she used to write names on the black board to take attendance. Without disrespect to any of those students why couldn't we have our American kids go in higher education and build better America? Why do we all have to fight for blue-collar jobs? Seriously, how many Joe the Plumbers are out there who are making more than $250 thousand?

When it comes to Energy, we all know that oil is a limited resource. It will run out with time. But the Sun will always shine, and the wind will always blow. So why is it so hard to pay attention to alternative sources of energy? Why is President Obama called the thief of our children's future when he is the one who is trying to invest in alternative sources of energy?

So if we don't invest in the Economy, Energy and Education today then WHEN?

Why is it a bad idea: To invest money in the ECONOMY
Why is it a terrible idea: To invest money in search of Alternative Sources of ENERGY
Why is it wrong: To invest money in EDUCATION so that we can produce more engineers, doctors and better college professors in our country.

President Obama's plan to recovery and prosperity offers the solution those core issues such as Economy, Energy and Education.

I am taking a commitment to educate myself, keeping an open mind and understanding first hand about the plan. I would't want any views from hate media specially FOX NEWS. It is time to move forward and get work done. America has great leader with clear vision and plan, and we an American people has done our job by electing right people on the right spot.

The best comment I heard this morning was on MSNBC: David Shuster said that Arlen Specter didn't leave the Republican Party; the Republican Party left Arlen Specter ... and a whole lot of other moderates, in Pennsylvania and nationwide.

Now we've GOT to make some real, positive change (as by getting Franken sworn-in in MN) so that the people at large get some benefit from all this, in those key areas Obama keeps pounding away at: healthcare, education, and energy. Those things have been left undone for far too long. The only way we can survive and thrive as a nation is by working on all three (and then some) together, in an integrated, "holistic" approach: It takes a nation to build a nation!

To some people, a landfill is simply “the dump.”

But Raleigh County Solid Waste Authority officials say its dump is a source of pride — an innovative, ahead-of-the-curve facility that could soon produce “green,” renewable energy.

Wednesday evening, the authority dedicated its new landfill methane gas collection system. The system — a $1.7 million project — will destroy 50,000 to 90,000 metric tons of methane gas built up inside the landfill every year, according to James Allen, director of operations.

It's great to see another community getting on the band wagon and starting to make changes in their county. Here is another great example of harnessing energy from trash and using it to not only create employment in the region but to add services to surrounding counties. Earth Day and Green Energy

All the proposals and policies I have seen have the same flaw. They rely on major corporations and electric companies to produse the power and ignore the potential of individuals and commercial buildings entirely. Sorry, we can conserve. THAT is not good enough!!!!!! Did you know that there is over three times the surface area available today on residential buildings alone than the 100 mile by 100 mile mega facitility proposed for Nevada? That sight is said to be capable of meeting all our electrical needs. One of the big problems is transmission to areas of demand. That is the same problem with mega wind farms in the Dakotas. The other problem with both is that we are still at the mercy of companies with the ethical track record of Exxon, Enron, and electric utilities like National "Greed" in NY.

Installation of solar and wind technology on any residential and commercial building that wants it could more than meet our electrical requirements. AND it is generated where it is USED. There is no need for the vast majority of our electricity to be transmitted hundreds or thousands of miles. Throw in a smart grid that can bring in electricity to calm and overcast areas from all surrounding areas in ever increasing circumference and even localized shortages can be met with minimal net transmission distances.

Require the grid to by excess generation at wholesale prices and allow them to sell it to electricity intensive facilities at retail prices. This keeps the utilities profitable in the transmission business. If needed they can operate a drastically reduced number of power plants to meet rare power shortages.

Another area that gets a lot of hype, but is short sighted is plug in electric cars. This may be a short term necessity, but should not be looked at as a long term solution. Why should we be limited to the range of a batteries charge? Imagine trying to go cross country on battery power. There is an alternative. Wireless resonant induction is a technology that could be adapted to wirelessly powering vehicles on a continuous basis. This technology may be a decade or so off yet. The idea is that the transmitter coils be incorporated into the pavement at a depth of 3 to 5 cm. The power for these coils is supplied by local wind and photovoltaic generators along the roadside with back up from the smart grid. Photovoltaic in urban areas could be produced by CIGSS technology on the sound barriers with no noticeable change in aesthetics. The receiver/s should be mounted on wheeled, to prevent contact of receiver to pavement, extension arms at 1 to 5 cm above the pavement surface. The receivers and transmitters are sealed in waterproof casings similar to the technology used in modern electric toothbrushes. Currently efficiencies are on the order of 90% within 10 cm. The electricity needed to operate the vehicle is transmitted from the road coils to the receiver coils only when they are in resonance, like 2 bells of the same pitch. For heavier vehicles and loads, like tractor trailers, more receivers can be used to increase the power. Small battery systems can be used for brief interruptions to the wireless system or brief excursions out of the wireless network. The electrical energy is not transmitted unless the receiver is at the correct frequency so danger of electrocution or other negative effects is minimal.

MIT is working on this technology to power the appliances in your livingroom today. That requires transmission overdistances of upto 15 feet. This is done in rooms in which you are living and moving about. All without your sensing the electrical transmission. Another exampeare the wireless charging plates for cell phones and ipods, etc.

I just want to stress in closing the urgency of expanding our discussion of alternative energy to include decentralized generation. It is imperative in my opinion to develop this technology to most effectively meet future needs and as the most exportable technology to the developing world.

Well President Obama latet move to fire GM's Rick Wagner is certainly taking charge. We would have to reach all the way back to Teddy Roosevet's battle with Standard Oil for a paralell of poulism.

But hole the cheers please. Both GM's and Chrsler's electric vehices and Hybrids are nowehere near production and won't be before 2011 at the latest. They are starved for cash flow because of competeing priorities, and essentially the same goverment the brougfht you Katrinia is still in charge, and that is because you can't turn things around overnight no matter how hard one tries.

Moreover, the electric grid isn't anywhere near buildt yet. So where will they be plugged in?

Assume Bankrucy occurs, there is no guartee all the money will not be squandered on paying lawyers exbortant fee.s. Welfare for the lawyers we say And what happens as these cars fall further behind on the production schedule. At the most what bankrupcy does in pay off investors who ok'd the Jurassic Park evironment--in other words, rewarding dinasourbrains.

President Obama need to set a road map. And like it or not, there is no better place to start than Geoge Bush's "addiction to Oil" speech.. Obama should say President Bush got something right-even though he did not do much else. At least he identified the problem in a very public way.

This would provide the bipartasianship for whatr is really needed-a Manahttan Project to delelop electric and hybrid vehicleon a fast track basis.

Current thinking-keep the best sellers-junk the rest is clearly not the wave of the future.

Do you think Barak Obama can run on a platform of "We saved Caddlice and Chevey?" One would be laughed out of the Democratic party. No-and this is important, not just sybolically either. The Republicans can have a fied day with "turing you back on the common man" by saving Caddy.

This strategy needs to ehance the future in making autos. If all we are doing is enabling people to reach small destinations one person to a car we are wasting stratic resouces.

We already hace hybrid buses. And if we can do hybrid busses cars should not be hard technically-especially SUV, which are best sellers anyway. Moreover, wouldn't it be easier to lift the 70,000 vehicle limit on hybrid vehicles imposed i previous tax bill , which only served to limit forien makes who sold thier 70000 quota in two moths when domestic makers have yet to produce one.

A real strategy would focus on what is produced that drives down gas prices, not who produces the car. The idea is to reauce the addiction, not provide jobs to compainies that can't race fopr the dollars..

Time will tell wether Obama will drw a line in the sand and focus on cars of the future, or put the Democats on the road to "Well we saved Caddilace."

Budget: Promises Made; Promises Watered Down

Why does it seem that the President is watering down his budget proposal to chase votes he won’t get? Republicans proved during the stimulus bill that despite all the concessions made to them then, they would never vote in favor of anything the President wants.

With Democrats, Independents and Moderate Republicans like me on his side, the President should focus on keeping his campaign promises because John Boaner, Mitch McConnell, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are opposed to fresh air, sunshine and Jesus, so long as they think President Obama is in favor of them.

Mr. President, you have helped them marginalize themselves to the maximum extent imaginable. Now it’s time to stand true to your word. Frankly, not everything you promised was what I wanted, but if you do what you told us you’d do, I will continue to support you, and I will vote against those who oppose you, regardless what party they’re in.

Technology in Solar Power Increasing Rapidly

The technology in solar power continues to increase rapidly. The conventional rooftop solar panels developed by Solydra do not need to be tilted like others and can absorb sun light from all angels including reflected light from other rooftops. ActSolar developed the PowerString and early field test indicate that this solution can cumulatively deliver 40 to 80 percent more power over the operating life of a solar panel installation.

With incentives for commercial buildings and warehouses to implement this renewable energy technology, which also reduces green house gas, creates jobs, creates growth, reduces the trade deficit (oil), and strengthens the US dollar; this green energy technology will also give the US economy a boost.

The increase in demand will also result in more competition, research, innovations, and improvements. With the installations being concentrated in cities (commercial buildings) any maintenance required should also be competitive.

GM Doesn’t Quite Get the Picture

Here’s the GM execs in front of congress on two different occasions that I can recall, begging for our tax payer money to keep them a float. Both occasions forecasting gloom and doom should they not receive assistance along with promising to use the money to invest in “greener automobiles”.

So out today is this article by TIME online praising the re-introduction of the Chevrolet Camaro, the “Stud” car of the future. GM claims to have 20,000 orders for the car from foreign countries, but you have to ask yourself will these orders “hold valid” or be “canceled” because of the global economy troubles. Basically when did GM receive these orders?

Topping GM offering off is the car will actually be assembled at a GM plant in Oshawa, Ontario, outside of Toronto; this I’m sure will help the Detroit high unemployment rate “decrease”!

The new Camaro is powered by either by an old school, 426-hp V8 or an up-to-date direct-injection V6 engine that produces 29 miles per gallon and 304 HP in one package. What so “green” about those figures for gas mileage?

And here’s the part I like most about TIME’s article:

Making it through the next couple of months will require more financial engineering than mechanical, and that process moved along this week, too. The U.S. Treasury Department’s decision to release $5 billion in federal loans to automotive suppliers suggests that the Obama administration is likely to approve billions in loans for GM and Chrysler. The Administration’s automotive task force appears to have ruled out forcing GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy. That’s one reason GM has pushed back the date of the company’s annual meeting unit August from June. Once it gets final approval of $21.6 billion in new federal loans, the company can have a future to talk about. GM isn’t planning anything fancy for the meeting — it will be held in Detroit to save travel costs. “The board felt they would be in a better position to give some perspective on the progress we’re making on our restructuring,” says GM spokeswoman Julie Gibson of the delayed meeting. “We’ve got a lot going on right now.”

What are these Fortune 100 companies taking us for, complete suckers? GM begged for our help in congress, slimed the Unions down by requesting member concessions, closed how many plants, cut how many employees and forced how many employees into early retirement. In deed and truly, I feel sorry for all in the car industry, but if they fail to listen to what our new administration wants in return for lending them money, let the GM executives join the AIG folks in the unemployment lines.

Making Treatment Plants Energy Self Sufficient - Y3000 Plan Part 2C

The high proportion of methane dissolved in the effluent represents a substantial loss of biogas for energy production, as well as representing a serious greenhouse risk should the methane subsequently escape to the atmosphere (since methane has twenty one times the global warming potential of carbon dioxide).

One possible avenue to reduce methane loss suggested by the pilot plant results is to add a controlled amount of air to the biogas used for mixing the reactor. The experimental results also showed that air in the biogas suppresses the formation of hydrogen sulfide, possibly avoiding the need to scrub this corrosive compound before using the biogas as a fuel. However, too much air would be toxic to anaerobic bacteria and would reduce biogas production. Further research is needed to determine the optimal amount of air to be used in mixing the reactor.

Some methane remaining in the effluent could prove beneficial in enhancing nitrogen removal by "denitrification" in the downstream process, and research is currently being conducted at the University of Queensland to study denitrification using methane.

A Winner Never Quits and a Quiter Never Wins

Solar Energy Opportunities

Throughout the world the economy has been the focus of attention, but all is not bad as it seems the way I view it! This of course as had some very unfortunate burdens on Americans and the international community, but perhaps we should consider it a wakeup call when you consider the following:

A new call to Global Warming as taken place via Green Industries
The War in Iraq I believe as influenced our government to end this conflict
A rebirth to our highway infrastructure in badly need of repairs
An increased interest passing a comprehensive Health Care package
Awareness of revised regulation of our banking industry

The aforementioned I feel are just a few of many, which we have known about or even cared about, but never acted upon to address their importance in our daily lives. Perhaps most importantly its brought us back to the realization that we were all living somewhat beyond our means. An article appeared on AP Online News that best illustrates what some individuals are taking to return to appreciating what we have and how we can live cheaper and better. The article is entitled: “Dollars from dirt: Economy spurs home garden boom”.

For others this is a time of opportunity even in the beat-up banking industry; I’m not talking about the big banks or the bonuses received, but again collective individual who have formed “New Banks”, which are just starting up in business. Again, another article, which needs reviewing, is presented by TIME Online, entitled: “While the Giants Reel, Many Small Banks Are Thriving”.

An additional article, also by TIME, which complements both previous mentioned articles entitled: “1. Jobs Are The New Assets” also outlines our changing values and society of how we perceive ourselves “changing” in this newly developing economic environment. The uniqueness of this article reminds us of what we have as mental and physical tools we have developed within ourselves and around us that we sometimes overlook or forget.

OK, so perhaps by now I’ve convinced you we’re in the process of changing or at least the “need for change”. So, based from the list above of the “good things” that are taking place now; what’s my prediction of the best or possible opportunity to go into, if you’re looking for a job or career change? I’d say the Green industry looks the biggest and fastest potentially growing industry and I base this assumption on an article by Gallop, entitled: “Americans on Energy: Promote Both New Sources and Old” and present this chart below:

As you can see I’m also basing my opinion on our government responding with the promises they have committed to during the past election cycle.

Our newly elected President said it was time for “Change”, but I earnestly don’t believe he felt the financial disasters he inherited would lead to the type of change we are experiencing today. So, we make the best of the situation and attempt to seek opportunities, which we know are out there and only need to be developed into new Microsoft’s, Dell’s and Blackberries.

AT&T GOING NATURAL GAS

Listen to this! The Pickens Plan is having some real impact.

This morning, Randall Stephenson, who is the Chairman and CEO of AT&T made a very important announcement.

AT&T is going to replace 17 percent of its fleet - which is one of the largest in America - with vehicles running on natural gas and other renewable fuels. They are going to purchase 8,000 truck chassis built by an U.S. automaker and then they'll work with domestic suppliers to convert those chassis to run on natural gas.

A big portion of AT&T's fleet is going to domestic natural gas and is using vehicles built in America to do it. AT&T will also be working with natural gas suppliers - domestic natural gas suppliers - to build the fueling facilities they will need for these vehicles.

AT&T is also going to replace some 7,100 cars which are running on gasoline with cars using battery and other alternative sources. When this is done, AT&T will have one of the largest alternative fueled fleets in history.

I believe this is going to be a big momentum play. When other fleet operators put their transportation teams on this, you're going to see a major shift away from imported diesel and onto domestic natural gas.

This announcement gives the Pickens Plan Army a great push going into the next few weeks when Congress will begin to act on energy legislation. To build on this momentum, and to make sure Congress and the Obama Administration know we want a plan now, we're going to be holding a Virtual March on April 1-3. Along with our Virtual March partners, we are going to rally Americans to deliver the message to Congress that the time is now to put a plan in place and to end America's staggering addiction to foreign oil.

Your leadership team has worked hard to think through the concerns of those who attended our first gathering in November. The majority said they want action and not just another town hall meeting. We heard you and we invite you to join us at two upcoming plan of action forums.

Saturday, March 28 and Saturday, April 25.

March 28: Local Plan of Action for Stimulus Package, 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

April 25: Local Plan of Action on Health Care, Time TBA. Updates on this event forthcoming.

We have invited expert panelists who will inform us on these issues and how we are impacted on a local level. The panelists will invite questions from the group and we will go into break out sessions to develop a plan of action on the topics of health care, energy, environment, and employment.

The action plans developed will be implemented with the support of the group. We need your passion, creativity, wisdom, and your experience to carry out the work at hand.

Seminarians for Change will also be actively involved with Organizing for America, inviting other organizations around Chicago and Illinois to help us, partner with us as we do the same for them.

My brother sent me this neat compendium of specific steps that led to the current economic catastrophe:

While I have criticisms of Barack Obama's approach to certain aspects of this multidimensional train wreck (i.e., I think the government should take over, clean up & sell off the zombie banks ASAP; I also think he asked for too small a stimulus package at the outset), I think he's trying, in general, to do the right things in the right ways. (Contrast his approach to that of the GOP, which is continually pressuring Obama to cut taxes & spending--a guaranteed recipe for total economic collapse.)

Speaking of the GOP, Representative Patrick McHenry, their head of messaging, declared today that the GOP doesn't care whether their criticisms of Obama are accurate or not--their aim is to continually bombard Obama with charges from now until the 2010 elections, based on the idea that sheer repetition will make those criticisms sink in. Sort of like Joseph Goebbels, actually.

Charles Krauthammer, in his column , “The Great Non Sequitur, The Sleight of Hand Behind Obama's Agenda” in today’s Washington Post, has twisted the logic in President Obama’s recent address to Congress. Obama is saying that changes in healthcare education and energy will help grow the economy, that they have been put off for too long in favor of short term goals. (Although dependence on foreign oil did have something to do with the current crisis.)

Obama’s argument.

PREMISE: Reforms in healthcare, energy and education were deferred in the past in favor of short term gains.

PREMISE: Search for short term financial gains without adequate regulation, and the lack of fiscal responsibility, got us into the current crisis.

PREMISE: Reforms in healthcare, energy and education will help grow the economy.

CONCLUSION:Therefore: In addition to reviving the economy, we must push for reforms in healthcare, energy and education to help insure our long term prosperity.

Not a non sequitur, Dr. Krauthammer.

Krauthammer’s version:

The logic of Obama's address to Congress went like this:

"Our economy did not fall into decline overnight," he averred. Indeed, it all began before the housing crisis. What did we do wrong? We are paying for past sins in three principal areas: energy, health care and education -- importing too much oil and not finding new sources of energy (as in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Outer Continental Shelf?), not reforming health care, and tolerating too many bad schools.

The "day of reckoning" has arrived. And because "it is only by understanding how we arrived at this moment that we'll be able to lift ourselves out of this predicament," Obama has come to redeem us with his far-seeing program of universal, heavily nationalized health care; a cap-and-trade tax on energy; and a major federalization of education with universal access to college as the goal.

Amazing. As an explanation of our current economic difficulties, this is total fantasy. As a cure for rapidly growing joblessness, a massive destruction of wealth, a deepening worldwide recession, this is perhaps the greatest non sequitur ever foisted upon the American people.

Obama in his speech:

The fact is, our economy did not fall into decline overnight. Nor did all of our problems begin when the housing market collapsed or the stock market sank. We have known for decades that our survival depends on finding new sources of energy. Yet we import more oil today than ever before. The cost of health care eats up more and more of our savings each year, yet we keep delaying reform. Our children will compete for jobs in a global economy that too many of our schools do not prepare them for. And though all these challenges went unsolved, we still managed to spend more money and pile up more debt, both as individuals and through our government, than ever before.

In other words, we have lived through an era where too often, short-term gains were prized over long-term prosperity; where we failed to look beyond the next payment, the next quarter, or the next election. A surplus became an excuse to transfer wealth to the wealthy instead of an opportunity to invest in our future. Regulations were gutted for the sake of a quick profit at the expense of a healthy market. People bought homes they knew they couldn’t afford from banks and lenders who pushed those bad loans anyway. And all the while, critical debates and difficult decisions were put off for some other time on some other day.

Well that day of reckoning has arrived, and the time to take charge of our future is here.

Now is the time to act boldly and wisely – to not only revive this economy, but to build a new foundation for lasting prosperity. Now is the time to jumpstart job creation, re-start lending, and invest in areas like energy, health care, and education that will grow our economy, even as we make hard choices to bring our deficit down.

This Facebook group was created in response to the Gore Challenge. The goal for this group is to establish a bellwether to test the global IQ on alternative energy and global concerns on the changing earth climate. Inno4Green Initiative will not only focus on how to help on issues regarding global warming, development and innovations on alternative energy and green construction; but also will help influence leaders on governmental policies, and guidelines on technology transfer for sustainable development. As an extension to the goal of Inno4Green Initiative, I am fortunate to be involved with the Pickens Plan. I remember I have been called so many names when I supported Barack Obama for President, Now that he is in place as the 44th President of the United States of America, I will be devoting my spare time with green energy projects such as the Pickens Plan. Believe it or not, the same group of people who called me names, derogatory words that I will not waste my time mentioning in any given occasion-just tagged me as a pawn to a rich man’s game. All I can say is that I know when it is time to step up to the plate and do the right thing. We have until 2020 and do whatever it takes to answer the Gore Challenge. In 2020, my daughter will be 16-years old, Boone will be at least 91-years old, and I hope at that time we already have the power grid that will not only put more greens in our pockets but also reaching our goal to at least more than 50% reduction in emissions making this Earth of ours a greener planet. For now, just think about the short term gain of any green energy projects-new genre of jobs that cannot be outsourced, green jobs that will eventually heal our ailing economy.

Broadband to the Rescue

From tweeting lawmakers to bold ideas for our nation’s recovery, President Obama’s address last night was truly inspiring. He offered an ambitious and hopeful vision of the road to recovery, and I couldn’t agree more with his confident assertion that “the answers to our problems don’t lie beyond our reach.” In fact, at virtually every turn last night, we encountered a familiar theme to many of us engaged in online policy debates—the power of broadband to connect the country to the next wave of American growth, innovation and opportunity.

Education. When President Obama talks about ensuring all Americans have access to a complete and competitive education, broadband is the resource that ensures this access no matter where people live—connecting students to everything from online mentoring to a whole world of opportunities to expand horizons and thrive.

Health Care. It is beyond time for real reform, and health IT is key to getting costs under control while advancing the quality of patient care. Kudos to our connected president for his shout-out to electronic medical records that can reduce debilitating, often fatal errors and make health care more efficient.

Energy. Not only can we rebuild and renew, but we can do it smarter. From telecommuting to reduced air travel, broadband offers many sophisticated ways to boost productivity while reducing dependence on foreign oil and our impact on the earth.

Jobs. President Obama readily acknowledged that investment in broadband deployment will create jobs, and these direct jobs are just the start. Nearly half of all broadband-fueled jobs are outside the tech sector (think IT professionals in schools, hospitals and your office). President Obama also made a critical and constructive acknowledgement that every time our nation has rallied to renew our economy “government didn’t supplant private enterprise; it catalyzed private enterprise.”

I agree with our President that our shared love of country and desire for our nation to succeed must be the starting point of every debate in the critical weeks and months ahead. I look forward to a constructive conversation about how broadband can help move our economy and our lives forward into a bright American future.

Europe’s farmers going Solar to supplement incomes – Solar Energy

Europe’s biggest agricultural producers are taking up new incentives for solar power to supplement farm incomes as well as help meet renewable energy targets.

The solar panels installations that are called integrated because they are built into the roof rather than superimposed, is booming in France thanks to legislation creating 20-year contracts with strong incentives to sell electricity to the grid. Government guarantees of long-term electricity contracts at an inflation-linked “feed-in” tariff, helped win the scheme bank support. The investment means constructing five enormous sheds covered by 36,000 square meters of solar panels with a capacity to generate 4.5 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 4,000 homes. At 0.55 Euros per kWh, integrated solar photovoltaic panels generate nearly twice the revenue of ground-mounted and superimposed solar panels. Another example is a group of 77 cattle breeders in the Aveyron region of south-west France, who formed a company, SAS Adder, to manage the construction of 33,0000 square meters of integrated roof panels on their farms.
France whose goal is to have renewable energy make up 23 percent of its energy consumption by 2023 is imitating Germany, Europe’s leader in solar and wind power. The built-in technology is encouraged by the authorities as aesthetically acceptable, in a country where wind farms have been sharply criticized as eyesores.

With US know how, ingenuity, and innovation this could be applied by not only US farmers but by large commercial buildings also.

I have some information regarding a serious issue, about the wind turbine projects. The wind turbines are causing a serious number of birds of prey deaths, In California alone it has caused thousands of Golden Eagle deaths. The new project there will do the same to the Bald Eagle. The fact that it will be causing the deaths of Bald Eagles, the US national emblem, and possibly its extinction should help you recognize a warning sign and set off some alarm bells.
The wind turbine industry has been trying to cover up this fact and information. Some of this information is from USA Today, ABC News, and the BBC so I’m not making this stuff up.

The last post was sent before I was done. So to complete my plea: Please give Americans the choice to use a fuel that we take from the earth or one that we make from the earth, and make it law that all cars sold in the USA must be E85 compatable. Then we can choose NOT to send our money to counties that want to see our demise. Read Energy Victory and get involved. Big OIL doesn't want to see us energy independant. I would rather burn Brazil ETOH or Iowa Corn ETOH than fuel terror! OIL is like a collar on a puppy that is never loosen it eventually kills the DOG. Stop talking energy Independence and make it happen. Goverment need to hear this from everyone of us.

Wind, by definition, is a difference in temperature gradient. We have temperature gradient differences all over the place, and don't realize it. They are below us, above us, to the left, to the right. We wait for the wind to come to us, our individual bodies, otherwise, the wind does not exist, except for Chicago, where it is everywhere. Wind exists where there are temperature gradient differences, not just within are limited sensory pathways. Skyscrapers cover a good size vertical column of air in which numerous temperature gradient differences exist, and can be monitored for their variations and regularity. Temperature gradient differences occur more immediately on a cloudy day, in which the sun is blocked by a huge cumulonimbus cloud, and then the sun shines again. The force of hurricanes exerts a tremendous force from its winds, yet there are not many wind turbines in tropical areas. On every coast of every continent, is the ocean, and the land. They heat up at different rates, and morning and evening, like clockwork, the winds kick up, because of the sun's arrival and departure. Now although, this is for about an hour, it is fairly consistent on an every day basis. Down slope and up slope winds occur regularly on mountains and hills. We describe winds only through our individual experiences with them, completely unaware, of the the true temperature gradient differences that exist everywhere, from mountains to deserts, and creeks, rivers, lakes, and reservoirs to oceans.

Energy from centrifugal forces.

Amusement parks have an abundance of rides demonstrating the centrifugal forces and the outward energies that they generate. Some of these energies can be hooked up to an energy grid, further reducing their costs to operate daily, weekly, etc.. In the long haul, this adds up to a lot of money.

What about the centrifugal forces exerted by all 4 of your car's wheel rims? Why can't that energy be directed back to the car for future energy savings? How much energy is that on a German or French autobaun. Legs of aperson are incredibly powerful, and can, through a force down, on a gas pedal type of medium, be hooked up to a wheel(cotton gin). Every time your feet exert a force downward, the wheel spins, and you have an additional centrifugal force. Remember how long of a time that a top can spin, with a relatively easy snap of the fingers. Why can't the centrifugal forces of the wheels of a car spinning, say, in an electrical car, be used to supply energy to an additional battery?

Why cannot the force of every letter you type on the keyboard of your computer, be absorbed into a pad below, that generates this force as an electrical impulse to a stored battery for future computer use? Nanotechnology and battery storage have come a long ways.

Harness human energy into electricity. All 24 hour nautilus fitness centers should be hooked up to the energy grid. Members should get credit for the energy they create, and receive a discount on their membership. What if a person could ride an energy bike for an hour in a day, and get a credit or amount on an energy card for their efforts. Why not hook up those big bouncy enclosed air mattresses for kids, to the energy grid. What if a homeless and/or jobless person could get some money for generating electricity through an effort process. What if a jobless teenager could earn money by getting some exercise. What would that do for their health? Have stations that are hooked up to the energy grid, in which this can be done, in communities. I have a wind up LED flashlight, in which effort is required for light to come out. We can store this kind of energy in smaller compartments now. Certainly, we can have one in a home. Co-op apartments for discounted electrical bills.

REMEMBER, ENERGY CANNOT BE CREATED OR DESTROYED, BUT SIMPLY TRANSFERRED FROM ONE MEDIUM TO ANOTHER.

P.S. Some of these big talkers on the television can have electrodes hooked up to their jaws, and most cetainly, generate enough electricity, to run the United States for some time. Especially some of the shows that have 3 or 4 people all talking simultaneously.

Energy Means Jobs

The Economic Stimulus package is pretty broad covering many different aspects to create an economic recovery for Americans, but in my own opinion, which is some what bias towards the Internet, I feel energy is going to produce the greatest number of jobs in the shortest amount of time.

It was refreshing to hear Massachusetts Representative, Ed Marke, speak before the House of Representatives on his pending amendment for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Some may feel this is only the small of more “pork” on the grill, which I have to disagree with.

No matter how you slice it, pork, seems to be the battle cry in today’s Democratic congress, but it’s my feeling we should past legislation, regardless of the smell to create new jobs and get the economy rolling again, soon.

Rep. Ed Markey advocates for his amendment to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that the Secretary require, as a condition of receiving funding under Title XIII of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, that the demonstration projects utilize Internet-based or other open protocols and standards if available and appropriate, and would require that grants recipients utilize Internet-based or other open protocols and standards.

This recovery package is the first crucial step in a concerted effort to create and save 3 to 4 million jobs, jumpstart our economy, and transform it for the 21st century. This means real change: it will strengthen the middle class, not just Wall Street CEOs and special interests in Washington.

To follow along with video is remarks made by President Obama’s trip to the Hill on January 27th to hear out Republican ideas for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan.

Here are some of the excerpts from the House:

The main message I have is that the statistics every day underscore the urgency of the economic situation. The American people expect action. They want us to put together a recovery package that puts people back to work, that creates investments that assure our long-term energy independence, an effective health care system, an education system that works; they want our infrastructure rebuilt, and they want it done wisely, so that we’re not wasting taxpayer money.

As I explained to the Republican House Caucus, and I’ll explain to my former Senate colleagues, the recovery package that we have proposed and is moving its way through Congress is just one leg in a multi-legged stool. We’re still going to have to have much better financial regulation, we’ve got to get credit flowing again, we’re going to have to deal with the troubled assets that many banks are still carrying and that make the — that have locked up the credit system. We’re going to have to coordinate with other countries, because we now have a global problem.

I am absolutely confident that we can deal with these issues, but the key right now is to make sure that we keep politics to a minimum. There are some legitimate philosophical differences with parts of my plan that the Republicans have, and I respect that. In some cases they may just not be as familiar with what’s in the package as I would like. I don’t expect a hundred percent agreement from my Republican colleagues, but I do hope that we can all put politics aside and do the American people’s business right now. All right.

The State of the U.S.

Dear Mr. Obama,

I am relieved and filled with hope now that you are our president with the backing of a Democratic Congress.

For several years I have believed that the United States has been losing ground as a leading nation and that our leadership and political policies have guided our country into a lifestyle and way of conducting business that is not sustainable or ethical in the areas of economic and labor policies, environmental management and resource use, medical care, care for the homeless and financially deprived, education, civil rights, penal philosophy and practice. and international relations and policies, and defense. In general, our people and government have addressed the symptoms rather than core causes of problems in each of these areas. To a great extent policies have been driven by personal and vested interests and not by science and the welfare of the people. Below I have introduced my views on each of these areas. In future communications, I intend to elaborate on and clarify these views.

Our economy should aim for steady state and stable conditions instead of continued expansion. We should localize our economy by minimizing imports and keeping services and production of goods within our country. All workers should make a living wage and should be registered U.S. residents with some provision for authorized temporary residents from other countries. Transfer of funds should be primarily related to goods or services received. Loans and activities related to speculation of the future should be heavily regulated and significantly taxed.

Sustainable environmental practices must be strived for by maximizing recycle, minimizing disposal of wastes into the environment, prevention of resource depletion, and minimizing destruction of natural environments. We must evaluate and regulate major polluting industries such as land filling, agricultural, fossil fuel extraction and use, mining, water use, and forestry (especially lumber and paper industries).

Basic affordable medical care and drugs should be available to all legal residents and visitors. Layered medical care practices should range from simple nursing care to special medical services provided by doctors and medical specialists. Incentives should be provided to encourage U.S. residents to improve their health, e.g. healthy diets and exercise. Unhealthy products such as alcohol, foods with added sugar, tobacco products, and alcoholic beverages should be heavily taxed.

Every resident should be entitled to have their basic needs met, i.e. food, shelter, and medical care. Group homes should be established to help those with mental, physical, and addiction health problems and released prisoners. Prisons should be viewed as rehabilitation institutions which strive to be self sufficient and provide counseling and training. Half-way houses and jobs opportunities should be provided for released prisoners. Capital punishment should be abolished.

Education through undergraduate college level should be free for all residents. Students should be grouped based on demonstrated aptitude so education can be focused. Education at all levels should include basic knowledge, creativity, and life management skills.

Laws should be instituted to minimize discrimination of individuals based on age, gender, sexual preference, or religion. Legislation of morality should be minimized. Issues should be clarified by open dialog regarding controversial issues such as abortion, stem cell research, capital punishment, euthanasia, and gay rights.
Strong policies should be instituted to address and improve international relations. The U.S. should encourage formation of an international governmental agency (IGA) with funds and personnel provided from all participating nations. The IGA should play a governing role in international defense, security, disaster, economic, and environmental issues. Member nations should collectively decide and act on matters related to terrorism, internal oppression, response to natural disasters, and regulation of global environmental issues such as greenhouse gases, fishing practices, and water use. Movement should be toward diplomacy and away from war and use of weapons of mass destruction. All able bodied men and women should be required to provide civil service and be trained as reservists on call for civil and other defense issues.

Drive Your Golf Cart To Work?

Mr. President! Help us drive our golf carts to work!

A year ago, when gas prices started getting completely out of hand, my employer and I began talking about ways to save on gas. I began researching electric vehicles, and emailed him an Ebay ad featuring a used electric Ford Ranger. These were fully designed by Ford to be sturdy, practical, long-life utility vehicles, and were leased to utility companies mainly in California in the late 90's and early 2000's.

To my surprise, he bought it and had it shipped to Nashville. It has been 100% reliable and trouble free, and costs about $30 a month in power. Yes, thirty bucks a month to fuel a freeway-capable, 80 mile range, 80mph, air-conditioned pickup truck.

When I was forced to sell my own pickup due to high gas prices, I really wanted to join my boss' electric ranks, but just didn't have the budget. Researching more, I found that only 10,000 people in the entire nation own and drive electric cars. It wasn't hard to discover why. Since the dawn of the automobile, the one Achilles' heel of th electric car has been battery technology. In recent years, NiMh and lithium-ion batteries have supplied the long lasting energy reserves so badly needed to the electric car. However, any battery capable of making the grade currently costs more than any of my gas powered cars are worth.

Then I turned my focus to the transportation plight of people living in the South. In Nashville, workers suffer from the longest commutes in the nation, with very little public transportation. As a former Seattle resident accustomed to an efficient bus system, I discovered firsthand that a mechanical breakdown which might constitute a minor headache in my home town would mean the loss of a job here. No car, no job. No job, no money. No money, no car.

Worse yet, in September '08 the South suffered from a month long gas shortage which crippled local economies and shuttered businesses. This gas shortage received almost no media coverage on a national level, but trust me, it was more than an inconvenience. The entire southern economy cycled through transportation blackouts, as the shortage rampaged from state to state.

I was fed up with the oil industry, angry with the oil lobby's stranglehold on Washington, and found myself determined to find an immediate solution to help Southern families keep more of their very hard-earned dollars. My answer? LEV's. Yes, I mean driving your golf cart to work.

Researching even further, I found there are companies in California and North Carolina who manufacture, or convert, golf cart-based vehicles for street legal use. They start with the plentiful and mechanically reliable platforms, such as Club Car, Yamaha, and EZ-Go. They add higher speed controllers, more batteries, suspension lifts, seatbelts, turn signals and headlights. Some companies even add prefabricated solid bodies to the frames of the golf carts, transforming them into miniturized Hummer or Jeep lookalikes. These vehicles are very popular in golfing, retirement, and beach communities. Most owners never have to spend much on maintenance, other than changing batteries every 3 or 4 years.

These were formally limited to roads posted with a 25mph speed limit, but last summer's gas crisis prompted the Southern states to raise this to 35mph, and that includes my own state of Tennessee. Still, because of fewer imminent domain laws and the aforementioned lenghty work commutes, driving through Nashville requires the use of "blue" highways whose speed limits are, out of necessity, posted far too high for LSV use.

The road restrictions are of course a must. The kind of accidents we would see when an F-150 collides head on with a Club Car would rival the worst horror movie scenes. But something has to be done about our gasoline dependency. The Southern economy already languishes behind the rest of the nation, and as the economy as a whole slides downward, good hardworking people here are being pushed into poverty. No group of people are more affected by gas prices than the working poor. As electric vehicles cost next to nothing in fuel, and require very little maintenance or upkeep, they would be the ideal choice for American families trying to save a little money. But the purchase price, and availability, are prohibitive.

The president and congress are helping us get around easier, and get back to work, by initiating infrastructure maintenance. But until electric cars are more affordable, this only perpetuates our oil dependancy. It would have been my preference to see much more money invested in monorails and subways.

However, in fairness to our government, building a subway for Nashville commuters would be impossible. Nashville, and many other southern cities, suffers from suburban sprawl and gigantic downtown core vacancies. Despite this, I see a great way for us to create thousands, if not millions of new jobs in road construction, all aimed at drastically lowering our collective carbon footprints and monthly expenses.

Instead of solely building or repairing freeways, let's look at a little known transportation avenue back in my hometown of Seattle, Washington. It's called the Burke-Gilman trail. Built along former rail lines, the Burke-Gilman trail runs through Seattle and several neighboring cities, and has been designed with safe intersections with regular street traffic. Since my childhood, I used this trail to commute to school, to work, to my friend's houses. I walked on it, used rollerblades, used bicycles. The number of daily Seattle commuters who use this paved, well-upkept trail number in the tens of thousands.

Why can't we do this in EVERY CITY??????

Nashville has numerous dormant rail lines. And the current attempt at a light commuter rail project is a disaster. Why not follow Seattle's lead, and blaze paved trails connecting suburban areas with downtown cores? Rather than a walking/bike trail, we should designate these for bicycles and LSV's. Charging stations could be stationed at every mile marker, and cities could issue prepaid "charging passes". Thus, the users of these new commuter lanes would help to offset the cost of construction and upkeep!

A good used golf cart can be had for $1,000. For $2500 you could have one street legal, complete with high quality Trojan batteries. There are even solar charging roof kits to help increase range. A low speed highway like the Burke Gilman trail is almost devoid of serious transportation injuries, because there are fewer intersections and less traffic.

Presto. The road crews get jobs. The golf cart retailers/upfitters hire new employees in droves. The battery, motor, and parts suppliers have a gigantic rush of business.

We can drastically reduce our oil dependance right now. I'd appreciate feedback and ideas.

Obama must strike a careful balance between stimulating the economy in the coming months and investing in the long-term future of the environment, said Raj Chetty, professor of economics at the University of California, Berkeley.

"If you spend money too quickly, you lose site of the long-term vision," Chetty told CNN. "If you focus too much on the long term, you may not act on spending money."

Framing his remarks with an eye on the recession, the president on Monday announced a plan for "a new energy economy that will build millions of jobs." Obama proposes to put 460,000 Americans to work through clean energy investments, increasing fuel efficiency in vehicles and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

By 2025, the Obama administration hopes one-fourth of the nation's energy will come from renewable sources. Over the long term, the president hopes to create millions of new jobs by investing $150 billion in taxpayer money to help private companies develop new sources of clean energy, such as wind, solar and geothermal power.

It's about time, say scientists who often clashed with former President George W. Bush on environmental policy."

The next four years won’t be all sugarplums and lollipops for America (or the world, for that matter). A regime change alone – even one as stark as President Obama’s – cannot restructure the direction of a nation. After all, the President is only one man. However, America has begun to weave a sustainable pattern in the fabric of real change. With the beloved, optimistic Barack Obama coming in on the heels of a tarred-and-feathered administration, the communication, unity, and will of the people have aligned in a constellation of transformation that will usher in a new era of American Federal Government.

Barack Obama’s presidency will be the dawn of a new relationship between the federal government and the American people. The beginning of change will come as communication improves between the American public and governmental leadership. Americans can expect President Obama to come out from behind his desk in the Oval Office not just to address them, but invite them in, listen, and interact with them. President Obama will use technology, including the Internet, cell phones, PDAs, and even MP3 players, to keep in touch with the American public and to keep the American public involved with the federal government. The Obama Administration will regularly meet with the press and keep the media abreast of governmental goings-on. The propaganda and rhetoric of late will be replaced with progressive conversation and bipartisan dialogue. Starting with his own administration, President Obama will permeate transparency through Washington like bleach through dirty water.

Never before has America been so prepared for a decontamination of D.C., a Congressional cleansing, and a purification of power. If there’s one thing Americans can agree on, it’s that the federal government is so tainted with sullied politics that the trust of the people it represents is in real jeopardy, if not already lost. The unity and will of the American people are as commanding now as they have been in times of great historical change. It has taken years of political misconduct to generate the atmosphere of mistrust that defines the nation's capitol at present. In this politically aggravated climate, Americans can be sure that President Obama will rise to the occasion and quench their thirst for change with the nectar of ethical and responsible ideology. Political recklessness and irresponsibility will not be tolerated in the Obama Administration. Expect a purge of problematic party politics, patronage, and pandering to special interests and a reach for reasonable, responsive, and accountable representation in Washington.

With D.C. under an Obama-brand broom and mop, the President will work to accomplish all he has promised in preceding months. Within (his first) four years, President Obama will address the most pressing issues facing America. This, of course, includes a resolution to the economic crisis, but many issues, including America’s dependence on foreign oil and weakening job market, must be resolved in order to solve the economic dilemma. He will create an environment conducive to energy independence and the proliferation of renewable energy sources that will create new industries for employment and liberate the country from dependence on foreign oil. He will cultivate infrastructure and the American auto industry to bolster the job market and reduce unemployment. Scientific investigation, including promising stem cell research, will increase under the Obama Administration to keep America up to speed with the international scientific community and expand job opportunities. He will also invest in America’s greatest asset – education – by increasing tax credits for higher education students, improving public education school systems, and either funding or eliminating the No Child Left Behind Act. He will increase the availability and affordability of quality healthcare coverage by offering a federal plan option to all Americans and cracking down on excess pharmaceutical charges. He will create a more balanced tax system that will begin to restore the federal budget and ensure the continuity of essential federal programs. He will close Guantanamo Bay detention camp, repeal the Patriot Act, and turn over power to Iraqi security forces to begin the removal of U.S. troops. President Obama will work to improve our international rapport and diplomatic relations, particularly in the Middle Eastern region, through open conversation with alliesand enemies. Change is what America expects and change is what she will get.

This change will not come immediately (C’mon, its politics!), but it will come in the next four years. Americans have spoken; we want change, we need change, and we’re ready for it. Now we look to President Barack Obama to make it happen.

In what he called "a down payment on a broader and sustained effort to reduce our dependence on foreign oil," President Obama directed the Department of Transportation (DOT) to establish higher fuel efficiency standards for carmakers' 2011 model year. The standard, known as Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE), was established in 1975 in the wake of the Arab Oil Embargo.
The second memo paves the way for California and more than a dozen other states to raise emissions standards above and beyond the national standard. They'd asked to do so before, but the Bush administration had denied the request.
"Instead of serving as a partner, Washington stood in their way," President Obama said. "The days of Washington dragging its heels are over."
Before he opened his remarks, President Obama took a moment to address the new raft of bad economic news of the past few days -- including job cuts at Microsoft, The Home Depot, and Sprint/Nextel.

on Jobs, Energy Independence, and Climate Change

January 26, 2009

Good morning. Before I begin today's announcement, I want to say a few words about the deepening economic crisis that we've inherited and the need for urgent action.

Over the last few days we've learned that Microsoft, Intel, United Airlines, Home Depot, Sprint Nextel, and Caterpillar are each cutting thousands of jobs. These are not just numbers on a page. As with the millions of jobs lost in 2008, these are working men and women whose families have been disrupted and whose dreams have been put on hold.

We owe it to each of them and to every, single American to act with a sense of urgency and common purpose. We can't afford distractions and we cannot afford delays. And that is why I look forward to signing an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan that will put millions of Americans to work and lay the foundation for stable growth that our economy needs and that our people demand. These are extraordinary times and it calls for swift and extraordinary action.

At a time of such great challenge for America, no single issue is as fundamental to our future as energy. America's dependence on oil is one of the most serious threats that our nation has faced. It bankrolls dictators, pays for nuclear proliferation, and funds both sides of our struggle against terrorism. It puts the American people at the mercy of shifting gas prices, stifles innovation and sets back our ability to compete.

These urgent dangers to our national and economic security are compounded by the long-term threat of climate change, which if left unchecked could result in violent conflict, terrible storms, shrinking coastlines and irreversible catastrophe. These are the facts and they are well known to the American people -- after all, there is nothing new about these warnings. Presidents have been sounding the alarm about energy dependence for decades. President Nixon promised to make our energy -- our nation energy independent by the end of the 1970s. When he spoke, we imported about a third of our oil; we now import more than half.

Year after year, decade after decade, we've chosen delay over decisive action. Rigid ideology has overruled sound science. Special interests have overshadowed common sense. Rhetoric has not led to the hard work needed to achieve results. Our leaders raise their voices each time there's a spike in gas prices, only to grow quiet when the price falls at the pump.

Now America has arrived at a crossroads. Embedded in American soil and the wind and the sun, we have the resources to change. Our scientists, businesses and workers have the capacity to move us forward. It falls on us to choose whether to risk the peril that comes with our current course or to seize the promise of energy independence. For the sake of our security, our economy and our planet, we must have the courage and commitment to change.

It will be the policy of my administration to reverse our dependence on foreign oil, while building a new energy economy that will create millions of jobs. We hold no illusion about the task that lies ahead. I cannot promise a quick fix; no single technology or set of regulations will get the job done. But we will commit ourselves to steady, focused, pragmatic pursuit of an America that is free from our energy dependence and empowered by a new energy economy that puts millions of our citizens to work.

Today, I'm announcing the first steps on our journey toward energy independence, as we develop new energy, set new fuel efficiency standards, and address greenhouse gas emissions. Each step begins to move us in a new direction, while giving us the tools that we need to change.

First, we must take bold action to create a new American energy economy that creates millions of jobs for our people. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan before Congress places a down payment on this economy. It will put 460,000 Americans to work, with clean energy investments and double the capacity to generate alternative energy over the next three years. It will lay down 3,000 miles of transmission lines to deliver this energy to every corner of our country. It will save taxpayers $2 billion a year by making 75 percent of federal buildings more efficient. And it will save working families hundreds of dollars on their energy bills by weatherizing 2 million homes.

This is the boost that our economy needs, and the new beginning that our future demands. By passing the bill, Congress can act where Washington has failed to act over and over again for 30 years. We need more than the same old empty promises. We need to show that this time it will be different. This is the time that Americans must come together on behalf of our common prosperity and security.

Second, we must ensure that the fuel-efficient cars of tomorrow are built right here in the United States of America. Increasing fuel efficiency in our cars and trucks is one of the most important steps that we can take to break our cycle of dependence on foreign oil. It will also help spark the innovation needed to ensure that our auto industry keeps pace with competitors around the world.

We will start by implementing new standards for model year 2011 so that we use less oil and families have access to cleaner, more efficient cars and trucks. This rule will be a down payment on a broader and sustained effort to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Congress has passed legislation to increase standards to at least 35 miles per gallon by 2020. That 40 percent increase in fuel efficiency for our cars and trucks could save over 2 million barrels of oil every day -- nearly the entire amount of oil that we import from the Persian Gulf.

Going forward, my administration will work on a bipartisan basis in Washington and with industry partners across the country to forge a comprehensive approach that makes our economy stronger and our nation more secure.

Third, the federal government must work with, not against, states to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. California has shown bold and bipartisan leadership through its effort to forge 21st century standards, and over a dozen states have followed its lead. But instead of serving as a partner, Washington stood in their way. This refusal to lead risks the creation of a confusing and patchwork set of standards that hurts the environment and the auto industry.

The days of Washington dragging its heels are over. My administration will not deny facts, we will be guided by them. We cannot afford to pass the buck or push the burden onto the states. And that's why I'm directing the Environmental Protection Agency to immediately review the denial of the California waiver request and determine the best way forward. This will help us create incentives to develop new energy that will make us less dependent on oil that endangers our security, our economy, and our planet.

As we move forward, we will fully take into account the unique challenges facing the American auto industry and the taxpayer dollars that now support it. And let me be clear: Our goal is not to further burden an already struggling industry. It is to help America's automakers prepare for the future. This commitment must extend beyond the short-term assistance for businesses and workers. We must help them thrive by building the cars of tomorrow, and galvanizing a dynamic and viable industry for decades to come.

Finally, we will make it clear to the world that America is ready to lead. To protect our climate and our collective security, we must call together a truly global coalition. I've made it clear that we will act, but so too must the world. That's how we will deny leverage to dictators and dollars to terrorists. And that's how we will ensure that nations like China and India are doing their part, just as we are now willing to do ours.

It's time for America to lead, because this moment of peril must be turned into one of progress. If we take action, we can create new industries and revive old ones; we can open new factories and power new farms; we can lower costs and revive our economy. We can do that, and we must do that. There's much work to be done. There is much further for us to go.

But I want to be clear from the beginning of this administration that we have made our choice. America will not be held hostage to dwindling resources, hostile regimes, and a warming planet. We will not be put off from action because action is hard. Now is the time to make the tough choices. Now is the time to meet the challenge at this crossroad of history by choosing a future that is safer for our country, prosperous for our planet, and sustainable.

Those are my priorities, and they're reflected in the executive orders that I'm about to sign. Thank you so much for being here.

Going Green Can Bring Back The Gold To America

Our local utility company will red tag your home and see that you and your family are thrown into the streets, if you do not pay your bill when it's due. Thier thinking is, It's unsafe for your family to live

in a Redding home without electric service from them. My God, wondered how or forefathers and thiers and thiers, ever survived without the help of Redding Electric Utility Company on the job.

So thier thinking here is...What if you light a candle to see at night..you could burn down your apartment, (most being red-tagged) or those of your neighbors. Your using a coleman, battery

powered light, well then, what if you use a gas oven to heat with. We care about you, have love

and concern for you, we don't want you do die or kill someone else..just because you cannot pay your bill.

So GTFO of your house, go live in the park, or your car, or take yours kids to the homeless shelter, were they can sleep amongst God knows who. We want you to be safe...BS.

Now, We read today in the local Record Searchlight...one of our local hospital filed for BK protection and stuck REU with a $300,000 bill. When it became past due...I guess they did not worry about

these people using candles to live and work by, in fact, they never attempted, I assume to cut off and kick these folks into the street. The result? The hospital has sold to another hospital holding and operational company. REU did not see that the bill was covered in the transfer of sale of the hospital and is now short $300,000 and a spokesperson for REU just issued a statement saying the loss will be added to my mom's, a widow now, utility bill. I call BS. No Way...No how.

This same city that owns it's on public utility, has a multi-million dollar income stream from it's

rate payers has been telling it's local customers, it will take up to 16 years to pay back a solar

investment. That was before now..Now this past month the same company has announced a

annual rate increase of about 7-8% meaning their average customers bill will increase and double

in about the next 5-7 years. So now solar is feasible. To bad they were telling them it wasn't

and not taking into consideration the increases, they had to have known were coming. Why did

they lie or misrepresent the facts to my fellow citizens?

Now this same city is laying off everyone, freezing the wages of many and stopping all projects

including a badly needed, recently approved local Police Station. They are preparing for failure.

What could be done, as I've already mentioned at local city council and board of supervisor meetings, WE COULD EMBRACE THE NEW GREEN ECONOMY....We could have a super effect

on our own local economy, our state, the nation and our planet. Why don't they just get real

and get with the program? I wonder?

Education, the environment, health care, and the economy all need fixing . I belive that there is a clear way to fix all of these problems at the same time. Give large amounts of money to higher ed. in each state to build/and or develop new/and or improved "green" technologies and medical advances(stem cell, dna, herbs). Create jobs in the begining by building new campuses, and in the future in these feilds of study. The goverment can keep/ and or sell the new patents.

Worst Desaster in U.S. History!!!

TVA told a Senate committee that this “spill” covered about 275 acres. Other estimates say 300 to 400 acres. If not for the hills and coves of the river, there was enough contamination to cover 3000 acres with a foot of sludge. We are continually told that there is no danger to the public “at this time”. If that is the truth, then why is it that residence from the most affected areas now being evacuated and given places to live? I was there the morning after this tragedy happened. I could not even have imagined what I was looking at. I was there again this morning to look at what TVA says is "cleaning it up". What I saw was a joke. First of all, the straw that they air-dropped only covered about 25% of the mess. And, in the cove that I visited, they are dredging the center of it to let a natural spring flow. I know this area as well as anyone. I have spent many hours fishing there. There are many springs that flow underground and come to surface in the coves when the water is at summer levels. Right now the area is covered up with 10 to 12 feet of mud, sludge, and trash. TVA does not plan on digging the coves out. So, these springs will eventually find a way to flow to the surface. Then they make their way to the river. Covering it up will never take away the contamination. Let me say that again. COVERING IT UP WILL NEVER TAKE AWAY THE CONTAMINATION!! When TVA tells us it isn't contaminated and will be cleaned up, they are severely misleading you. If you do the research you will find that arsenic cannot be changed or diluted. Its molecular structure always remains the same. It is in the water from this disaster. It will remain there until TVA cleans it out. In the Swan Pond area, the arsenic levels were extremely elevated. It is in the mud and trash. And the only way to remove the arsenic is to remove all, and I mean ALL, of the mud it is mixed in, even in the coves. Smaller, but just as tragic levee breaks have happened in Kentucky , and Pennsylvania . The people that live in these areas are still trying to cope with it. Did TVA clean it up? No! they covered it up. In Kentucky there are coves that once had water in them that are now fields. The contamination is still there. In Pennsylvania , some homes have the dried sludge in the crawl spaces of their homes. So why should Roane County , Tennessee expect any different approach? I listened to Mr. Kilgore tell this community that it was not a time that TVA could hold its head high, but he promised to make it right. Well, TVA and its officials should hide their heads because of the way they are planning to handle this. They are doing whatever will cost them the least. How about taking some of your unearned bonuses to help pay to clean this up right? What I cannot understand is why our elected officials, both local state, and national, are staying quiet. The mayors of each town should have their city councils pass resolutions demanding that the clean-up be done right. Our State Representative and State Senator should be on the floor in Nashville demanding that TVA get it right. Our US Representatives and our US Senators should be on the floor in Washington demanding that Congress hold TVA accountable and make them clean it up, not just cover it up. Even the news media has gone silent. This cover up should have the media speaking loudly. It is not the time for silence. Even if you do not live in this area, it’s time to show the entire nation what is really going on. There are retention ponds like the one that gave way here, all over the nation. You think it will not happen to your community? Maybe it will not. But the risk is there. So please, wake up. We need your voice in this area. And we need your voice all over the nation. There is no regulation on how to store the ash from coal burning plants. The EPA has suggested on three occasions that this stuff is contaminated. But, for some reason, they changed their mind on each occasion. But you have to realize one fact. The coal companies contribute more money to candidates than even the oil companies do. Now allow me to go back to this community. I have heard people say that this is the largest natural disaster of its kind in US history. I would like to correct that statement. It is the worst national disaster in our history. The levee was manmade. So, it cannot be a natural disaster. This will affect the local economy in the months and years to come. Much of our economy is based on our rivers and lakes. I will mention just two events. During the Fourth of July weekend, people from all over the Southeast come here to let their families enjoy the water and watch our fireworks. They are some of the best in the US. Professional bass fishermen hold tournaments here. Are they still going to show up if they even think the rivers and lakes are contaminated? I wouldn’t. I will be the first to say that my children and granddaughter will not even get close to this water as it is. Mayor Beets, Mayor Miller, Mayor Mason, it’s time to stop standing by the side of TVA officials and start standing up for the community. Representative Ferguson and State Senator Yeager, it’s time to take charge and represent the people here. US Senators Alexander and Corker, Washington needs to make sure this is cleaned up right and that it never happens again. Governor Bredeson, this sludge is not safe as you said in public. TVA can explain things in their terms that make it sound good. But, if you take them for their word, it helps to cover this disaster up. We as a community, a state, and a nation need to not only speak out, but shout out, enough is enough! The sad thing is that TVA does not realize this is a time in which they could shine. They could dig this all out. Yes, it would take time and money. However, they could make this devastated area look even better than it did. They could remove the contamination and restore this area; make it even more beautiful than before. Then they could hold their heads high and be proud. But if they think the direction they are taking is something to be proud of, then they are not only trying to fool us, but themselves as well. I am no reporter, journalist, environmentalist, or anyone that is “important”. I am no public speaker or professional writer. I am just a man who loves his community. I am a man who has many wonderful memories provided in the area that has been destroyed. And I am a man who would love to be able to have the opportunity to enjoy more memories. Please, do not allow this to be covered up. Please speak out. News media please help keep this alive. I am but one voice. But as long as I have a voice, I will keep it alive. And if just one paper prints this for others to read, it is one small step to fixing our community, and keeping it from happening to others. My friend Chris (the best drummer in the world) sent me this link today, http://www.good.is/awesome/good_transparency_hidden_cost_of_war.html, that illustrates the total cost of our war for oil in Iraq. The graphic is a bit confusing for me, but the explanation on the right is pretty clear.

Indeed, the costs to the economy of this misguided adventure were painfully clear when I was still managing my auto parts business full-time. At first, we lost some of our best customers (members of the military) when they were deployed, so demand fell. Then soon after that, they called up the Reservists and National Guard - which removed key people from the production floor of many of our suppliers, so we could no longer get orders that were made correctly or delivered on time. After awhile, getting anything done became such a hassle that we just gave up. Add to that the effects of rising fuel and materials costs and multiply by the millions of small businesses like ours, and well, it is no wonder that the economy eventually tanked.

Not to mention the horrible loss of life, wounds, and emotional scars that will forever affect the lives of our soldiers and their families.

So I have been pretty outspoken about my opposition to the war in Iraq and the politicians that took us there.

However, I've learned some new things in the past few weeks that got me thinking...

Miami- The week of January 20th millions will arrive in Washington DC to witness Barack Obama become the 44th President of the United States. In the crowd will be South Florida poet, Ron Sorenson. The former homebuilder has been diagnosed with A.D.D (Attention Deficit Disorder). Recently he began a diet and exercise program to manage his ADD. The side effect of this non-prescription treatment of ADD has been a creative explosion. Ronald Sorenson was born a twin on September 26, 1957 on an Army base in Columbia, South Carolina. His twin brother Donald passed away at three months old. Ron found out when he came across a photo of two babies in a crib. His beloved grandmother told him when he was ten. Ron always believed his brother was his guardian angel, and has had a difficult job watching over him. With his high energy level, risk taking, and other traits he possessed, Ron felt different from everyone else. He describes the inside of his brain as Jimmy Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock in his head 24/7. On June 4, 2005, Ron met Kathy Kafka—both are divorced with children. On there first date during the evening conversation, Kathy described Ron as gifted and having A.D.D. Ron had no idea what Attention Deficit Disorder was. The journey began, he had to find out what it was, during the week he was tested and diagnosed with A.D.D. Finally he had a description of why he felt different. Kathy saw a person in Ron that he never noticed. He was intelligent, creative, enthusiastic, and sensitive. Now aware of his gift of A.D.D., and the love and understanding from Kathy, his life is only getting better. Ron has been a building contractor, building beautiful homes for over 25 years. Because of his boredom and the poor economy, Ron has grown significantly tired of the construction business. Now aware of his gift, and Kathy’s love and understanding, life is only getting better. With Kathy’s knowledge of health and natural herbs, she has transformed Ron’s poor health habits. Ron is now eating healthier, consuming herbal blends and teas, resulting in positive energy. This has brought out his inventiveness, and creativity, and he is now writing beautiful philosophical poems, which he never thought he could do. Ron began writing poetry for Kathy. Tony Hall was born on December 26, 1950 in Kingston Jamaica. His family moved to Mt. Vernon, NY in 1966. Attending Parsons School of Design, he majored in Graphic Design. After being drafted in the Army in 1971 and his interest in art, Tony started to paint in the evenings as a hobby. He would paint for his friends. After the release from the Army in 1978, a person noticing his talent, offered to sell his works. He gave this man several of his painting, which he never saw again. Discouraged by what happened, Tony stopped painting for three years. Then in 1981, a man commissioned a painting, but after the work was completed, the man was killed. Discouraged again, Tony stopped painting for several years. He began another hobby, base guitar, starting his own group called Mystique. Then in 2000, a co-worker requested a pencil drawing of his two children that both passed away after their birth one year apart. He asked Tony to draw the one child without the deformities he was born with. The look on his co-workers face when he gave him the drawing of his two children, put both of them in tears. Inspired to do art again, Tony created many pieces in just the last year and a half, but has not been able to sell any of his work. Tony and his wife are in jeopardy of losing there home because of the poor economy. Tony works for a printer who reduced his hours and his wife is in real estate sales. Tony and his family live in Coral Spring, Florida. Ron says along with Tony nothing can go wrong and every wrong turn ends up being the right way, He believes if you can dream it you can do it and he is living proof. Anything is possible no matter the economy your situation its what you belive and choose for your journey.

It has been my perception that what has driven some Americans increasingly in the past two decades has been personal greed; greed not for just money but for power, control, influence, domination, security, knowledge, ideology, ..., all for individual or limited closed association/club benefit. That is not only the mentality of individuals, but of people operating in government and business as well.

We now witness the results of greed by a select few:

Corrupt and special interest government officials who set themselves above as aristocrats regulating government for their own investments or hidden ownerships in companies and organizations. Many who also take bribes and illicit favors from corrupt lobbyists.
Laws are actually written/drafted by who? Do you really think your legislator, congressman, or senator sits down in front of a computer or uses his own pen and paper? Or, did you think it's his staff? It is lobbyists who actually do 99% of the work; work they have vested interests in, to see it is written the way their 'client' wants it worded. Do you as an individual have lobbyists employed by you?
Financial institutions that cheat and steal from the unsuspecting, far beyond the weak laws of usury. Trustworthy? Bank & 'Trust?' Wanna givem another bailout for cheating? It looks like lobbying paid off for the financial 'institutions' (we have all been taught to 'respect?' the term 'institution?', but maybe we are learning).
Insurance Companies that 'legally?' bribe law enforcement, judges, and congress/legislators with grants, equipment gifts, perks, and free trips in order to gain unprecedented influence/control -- everything from mandatory laws, to not or barely paying claims, to price fixing, to all sorts of corrupt and unfavorable methods imposed on individuals. Do most people realize that premiums (a name of 'respect?' for monthly payments you are charged) are used by Insurance Companies to pay for -- grants, equipment gifts, perks and trips as payoffs for public laws, regulations, and controls that the public does not want. It is a form of taxation represented/controlled by insurance companies, not taxation with public representation. It's a twisted form of taxation charged by insurance companies.
Manufacturing barons who import economic slave labor and outsource to slavery.
Pharmaceutical corporations that cover-up sickness and death with misinformation in order to push up profits.
Weapons manufacturers that promote violence, war, and enduring sickness.
Energy companies that monopolize production/prices and cause destructive environmental damage.
American Companies, or those using names, that import/offshore products who turn a deaf ear and blind eye to safety, quality, and poisons.
Service providers that care not about consumers but are strictly money driven, with less regard for employees; employees who suffer with unreasonable demands for performance and who are not paid a living wage.
Private educational institutions that cater to the wealthy who have abandoned the public. The concept for the masses of "let them eat cake"; they will eventually go away from malnutrition of education because it will make them perish; and, those who survive can be the servants.
Suburban Public School administrators in growing housing markets whose actual and hidden agendas are to serve land developers and government aristocrats. They play statistical number games made of fudge, intentionally choking out struggling students by actually encouraging students to drop out or be 'home schooled' by mom or dad. That's how suburban schools 'look' more attractive to potential home buyers, with faked academic 'success' -- faking the 'No Child Left Behind' statistics, a real game, using kids as pawns. But aristocrats brag, statistically they look like they have done a good enough job to re-elect them. And, most importantly to them, they can continue to reap the profits from either the land they own or are financially connected with.
Inner City School administrators in decaying areas that hopelessly cope with being under funded, attracting the poorest quality teachers. Children do not choose to be born into poor families, or choose uncaring parents, nor do they choose parents that are ignorant and uneducated. Do these kids have the hope of opportunity? They are pushed aside as the burdens of a greedy society, in hopes they are not seen nor heard from now or later in life -- good to be used as the pawns in wars, or workers for catering to the wealthy though.
Employees of city/county/state/fed. institutions (schools, universities, jails, prisons, leases/sales of buildings to Gov., contracted services, hospitals, VA facilities,...) who take kickbacks and gifts, in return for higher costs and sweetheart deals with companies often owned by or financially benefiting government aristocrats.
Major colleges and universities chasing the buck by catering to overseas students. They somehow brag of a 40% to 60% foreign enrollment, while American students grasp for help and aid.
Community colleges that are given the leftovers in funds, coping with unrealistic expectations of graduating students or preparing them for major colleges. Even with 100% tuition/books paid, it is unrealistic to expect students to juggle working full time jobs (for food and living) while going to school and studying full time. It is not surprising to see such an astronomically high dropout rate in America. Capitalist have made it clear to students, not to have hopes that are too costly; or, they will import already educated talent. Do wealthy capitalist require students in their families to work full time at low paying jobs while pursuing higher education's? Maybe they simply know it's a story made up for the 'less fortunate', like a fairytale dream, achieved by one to two percent and used as shining examples, stories told to pacify the masses. Those with capital also know, they can hire a well enough educated dropout at a reduced rate to do the job of a graduate, a real bargain.

We could each recite instances far beyond this short list, and it is all for greed. People’s greed has been rooting through our nation and causing so much destruction. Certainly money has been a primary instrument of their greed, but their other instruments of power, control, influence, domination, security, knowledge, ideology, … have all been used to chip away and damage each of us who together form our great nation. With renewed vision and focused determination we will heal and rebuild to become more active and much stronger.

Putting people back to work is not going to fix the economy, when people have a common goal all over the country and all around world something wonderful happens we come in unity to fix every problem that we have. I want to let everyone know there is a project called The Venus Project you can watch the video on this post. I have a petition for 3,000,000 signatures for this project to become the forefront of all projects and to be funded and seriously considered a s a solution to all our problems not just in our country but around the world.

IF you all still love that monetary system and still believe we can keep patching this system up over and over and belive it will stay fixed your wrong. The monetary system will collapse no matter what Obama and Joe Biden does. You can't fix a system that can't be fixed. You must replace it with a new system, and that will be A resource based system. The Venus project is one of the most innovative ideas that has come out and you will know why from the videos i'm going to post. I would rather work my but off for a common of all mankind to make life better than to work my but off just to pay my bills and pay off more debt.

First Order of Business - Save the Economy!

A $2 trillion plan to the Future..

I propose a $2 trillion plan to stimulate our economy, vastly improve our energy situation, take the lead on global warming, and dramatically improve our self sufficiency thereby reducing pressure on our national defense.

If implemented successfully, it won't cost the taxpayers any money. In fact, the success of the plan will save our country trillions of dollars.

President Obama should use the first $trillion to order 50 million electric cars from our three domestic car companies to be built and sold over the next 4 years. Foreign domestics could also be included. The cars would cost around $20,000 and be absolute state-of-the-art for safety, thereby reducing our auto death rate of 40,000 per year, including 6000 teens.

The new electric cars would replace one third of our current passenger car fleet of 150 million cars and reduce our need for auto gasoline by 30% by 2012.

The second $trillion should be used to purchase 50 million home solar/battery kits at $20,000 per kit that would be sold along with the electric cars as a package so that the electric cars would all be running on solar power. Those living in the shade could take part in a solar farm where their kit would be placed to generate solar power.

The Federal Government could then pay out money to the domestic car companies as they hit their performance targets on this order. The Feds would also pay out to the solar companies as well. As the money came flowing back in on the sales of the solar cars, the government would be repaid.

The consumer would buy this $40,000 electric car/ solar power package because he would get 100% low rate financing from the banks, underwritten by Obama. The Feds would also kick in a $20,000 tax credit to get these cars moving off the lot. The consumer now has a car that needs no gasolilne, and has a battery that provides backup in the event of a power outage, and allows him to reduce his peak period electricity usage.

The cost of that tax break would be $1 trillion. But think about how income would be produced and how much additional tax revenue would be generated. My SWAG is that ending this recession sooner rather than later is worth at least $5trillion.

To summarize, by 2012, with a booming economy feuled by low energy costs, we would have reduced our passenger car gasoline consumption by 30% thereby reducing our oil import needs by 20%. (The goal for 2016 should be to double again to 100 million electric cars.) Our dependence on the middle east for oil would be over. Our leadership on global warming would be unquestioned.

Our domestic solar companies would be world-wide giants providing hundreds of thousands of new, high paying domestic jobs. With strong, innovative management, Our domestic car companies would once again be world leaders saving old jobs but also adding new ones around the country. The midwest would boom. The two trillion financing would help the banks recover. And the Federal Government would be able to reduce the budget deficit from the $1 to $2 trillion level to break-even.

I definitely support the Pickens Plan for the development of alternative energy sources but I think we can do more immediately. The Pickens Plan is great but will take 10 years to have any real impact and we need change right now. What’s funny is that we have the technology and the resources to make changes today. Some examples are home officing of administrative workers, 4 day work weeks and limiting retail sales to 6 day per week and a whole range of other ideas that could begin to begin to reduce our dependence on petroleum based products and heal our environment immediately. We need to encourage builders to produce new structures that maximize the use of available sunlight, are better insulated to reduce heating and cooling cost and incorporate new technologies that will reduce the use of electricity. I live the Dallas/Fort Worth area which ranks in the top 5 cities in America for auto related air pollution. Right now the population of the DFW area is between 6 and 7 million people and is growing by 400 people per day. In 10 years the population will be well over 10 million and will face gridlock on the freeways and public transportation systems. Add to that another 40 percent to the already excessive air pollution and we have bigger problems than even the Pickens Plan would resolve. We need to start thinking now of innovative ideas to not only produce new fuel sources but to reduce our fuel usage, reduce the number of cars on the road, and produce more efficient buildings and products. Along with this we can create new jobs converting available buildings in our home communities to be used as co-located office spaces, renovating existing homes to be more efficient and expanding our public transportation systems. I would be the last to suggest that I have all of the answers but I will be the first to ask everyone to think of ways that we can help tackle this urgent issue.

We’re six weeks out, and it feels like Inauguration Day is right around the corner. One thing’s for sure: our efforts are really starting to pay off. Let me give you a couple of examples.

Yesterday in New York City the Pickens Plan got another big endorsement. This time it was from the American Lung Association. Think about that. Here we’ve been talking about how developing renewable energies and using cleaner burning natural gas is good for our economy and creates jobs. Come to find out the Pickens Plan is good for your health! I love it. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was also on hand. He’s been a real leader in using renewables and compressed natural gas in his city. I’m glad to have him on our team.

I also want to bring up my visit to Washington last week where I met with the Obama Transition Team. Like everyone else, I’ve been impressed with the way the President-elect has been preparing for his new administration. My father used to tell me, “A fool with a plan can outsmart a genius with no plan any day of the week.” Let me tell you: the Obama team is smart, and they have a plan. The President-elect wants to get us off Middle Eastern oil in 10 years. There’s only one way he can do that, which is why I’m confident that the Pickens Plan will play an important part in the stimulus package he and his team are crafting right now.

Greetings! Ah yes, there are signs of intelligent life on our planet, specifically the US, once again. It is so nice to be able to say that I have a President once again. I feel hopeful for the first time in a long time about mankind.

Entries on this blog will be little tidbits of what I see on the path in my journey through life. I offer these little stories to share some things that you may or may not be experiencing in your adventure. Just some things to ponder - maybe, if you want to.

My Brain Overfloweth

Now that the election is over, I'm ready, ready, ready, to get on with the business of change. The only problem is that I haven't been able to figure out how to begin! So this is my personal beginnning.

I don't know about anyone else, but since election night, my mind has been in overdrive! What if we did this? Why not try that? Maybe we can finally see progress on this! And so on.... So, I'm starting this blog to get some of my ideas out there. I don't know if any of the ideas that float in and out of my mind are viable or not, but I'd like to bounce them off of others and see what happens. So, here we go .... so many problems, so little time ...

I would also like to say, that on this blog at least, ideas need to be treated as sacred. No matter how outlandish or silly an idea may appear at first, all ideas carry the seeds of change. So bring your ideas and let's look them over together.

Seven things you may not know.

1. Fill up your refrigerator with water bottles. Use empty milk containers and smaller jars. Your refrigerator uses a lot of energy and every time you open the door you let cold air out and warm air in. Filling the unused interior space with containers of water does three things; it reduces the available space for warm air to enter, decreases the amount of cold air that leaves, and reduces the run time to re-attain proper temperature. (And try and use good refrigerator etiquette, know what you want before you open the door.)

2. Make Styrofoam plugs for your north facing windows. One inch thick sheet Styrofoam is available at most lumber/hardware stores and is not expensive. Cut the Styrofoam to exactly fit your widow (use a bread knife with a “sawing” motion) and stick it in place (may have to use tape or make some simple “keepers” to keep it in place). Check weekly for water build up. You are basically turning your window into a well insulated wall.

I am wondering why no one is taking this technology serious and why we aren't hearing about this ready to go technology that would provide 100% clean energy to the world in a very short time. Of course it will render all other methods useless but why not do that. They have failed and why waste any more time on them. This is an answer to the auto industry, pollution and affordable energy for everyone. This one technology could turn this ecomomy around in a heart beat. It's the most simple and efficient way to go and we need to implement it before we start with wind, tidal, solar and the rest because it will render the all obsolite before they are finished. If you pick up on this and turn your back on big oil and nuclear and clean coal that doesn't even exist you will be a world hero and go down in history as the one guy who really changed the world for the better. Please investigate this and make it happen. It's a bold move to diss the big guys and it will turn the world on it's ear but it is for the good of the people.

No todo vale para salir del túnel si no se hace antes un análisis en profundidad sobre los errores cometidos en los últimos sesenta años y una adecuada proyección de objetivos hacia el nuevo mundo al que nos dirigimos. La falta de una adecuada respuesta por parte de los países más desarrollados a los grandes retos del planeta ha provocado el colapso de un sistema donde en demasiadas ocasiones ha primado la especulación.

El colapso del sistema financiero no es más que el estallido de una enorme burbuja ocasionada por la especulación que afecta a todos los sectores productivos. ¿Cómo es posible que en los últimos años las entidades financieras hicieran gala de más de un 30% de beneficios cuando el precio del dinero no alcanzaba el 4% en la eurozona? ¿Quién podía imaginar que el precio de cuatro paredes y un techo supusieran casi 20 años del sueldo medio de un joven español? ¿Hasta donde podíamos llegar con el precio de barril del petróleo superando los 160 dólares y con el cartel de que se agotan las reservas para lo que queda de siglo? ¿Por qué siguen las autoridades europeas y nacionales mirando a otra parte cuando se quintuplica el precio en el mercado de los productos agrícolas mientras se paga a los productores que hacen el esfuerzo precios miseria? ¿Hasta cuando esta dispuesto el planeta a aguantar los abusos sobre sus recursos naturales, sobre el equilibrio biológico y natural que garantiza la vida? ¿Cuántas muertes de inocentes son necesarias para que la solidaridad de quienes tienen el 80% de la riqueza la repartan con el 80% de la población que no tiene nada, y de la nada no salen más que para morir de hambre o de enfermedades? ¿Y quien alzará una voz que permita escuchar el silencio de 26.000 niños inocentes que mueren al día por falta de agua, alimentos o una simple vacuna?

Ese es el mundo en el que vivimos, el que algunos pretenden perpetuar con planes anti crisis que enterrarán miles de millones para salvar grandes corporaciones financieras y comprar activos sobrevaluados tras las bendiciones de las cumbres de turno. Pero se equivocan. La respuesta a los nuevos tiempos requiere de nuevas políticas, nuevos liderazgos y nuevos comportamientos éticos, incluso a nivel global. No saldremos de esta crisis sin el compromiso y una respuesta a las necesidades energéticas que necesariamente pasan por lograr las máximas cotas de independencia energética. El desarrollo de la energía del hidrógeno, pasando por las alternativas y hasta incluso llegar a la nuclear antes que depender de un petróleo que esclaviza y empobrece a las sociedades y es el principal factor del cambio climático. Además, este nuevo tiempo requiere de una respuesta clara a la mayor tragedia del mundo actual que se llama África, el continente olvidado y condenado a vivir en el hambre, el SIDA y la nada. Una lenta destrucción que contrasta con la codicia de estados y especuladores que compran hoy ingentes cantidades de suelo con los que cultivar los agros combustibles, generar mayores reservas para garantizar sus suministros alimenticios y de papel mientras la mitad del continente se muere de hambre. La ONU ha dado la voz de alerta sobre esta situación en un continente que requiere otras respuestas encaminadas al desarrollo de las personas y de un territorio masacrado por la codicia del llamado mundo desarrollado.

La lucha concertada contra la pobreza y las enfermedades será sin duda una señal de progreso para todos, ya que el desarrollo del llamado tercer mundo será también la garantía de supervivencia del estado de bienestar de los países desarrollados, desde la cooperación. En apenas cincuenta años el mundo en el que vivimos ha multiplicado por cuatro su población y los recursos siguen siendo los mismos, o menos según se mire. El reciclaje será sin duda una necesidad y también uno de los nichos de nuevo empleo, junto al de las energías alternativas, la agricultura ecológica y la cooperación social. Europa debe ser consciente de su enorme responsabilidad a la hora de garantizar una agricultura europea capaz de hacer frente a cualquier crisis alimentaria futura, con garantías de calidad en sus productos para su población y también para atender la demanda creciente. Bruselas debe brindar un apoyo real a los productores y vigilar a quienes utilizan los productos básicos para la especulación. Este nuevo mundo requiere también de respuestas a los enormes problemas del agua y su suministro, desde la solidaridad, el reciclaje continuo y el uso racional, así como una inmigración que demanda mayor cooperación y desarrollo en sus países de origen. La actual crisis es la antesala de un nuevo tiempo, que requiere de nuevas respuestas en las relaciones mundiales, en las alianzas para combatir el terrorismo del hambre o la falta de libertad, de personas y de los pueblos. El presidente electo de EEUU, Barack Obama, es sin duda el inicio de una nueva generación de líderes que deberán dar respuesta a los nuevos retos, siendo conscientes de los errores cometidos en el pasado. Obama ha anunciado un plan para crear 2,5 millones de empleo así como una revolución energética con el aprovechamiento de las energías alternativas y el hidrógeno. También anuncia la retirada de las tropas de Irak en un tiempo máximo de año y medio, entre otras medidas como un plan de salud publica en un país en el que hasta morir es un triste negocio. Obama es consciente también de la importancia del desarrollo de una agricultura por su valor ambiental, de desarrollo local y empleo que permita atender las urgencias alimentarias que se desatan en el mundo y hasta que algún día podamos poner fin a las plagas de hambruna. Son sin duda nuevos tiempos que no solo está en manos de nuestros gobernantes dar respuesta, sino fundamentalmente en nuestros propios comportamientos, en el consumo de agua, de energía, de alimentos saludables, así como la hora de exigir el respeto al medio ambiente e incluso la justicia que merecen nuestros agricultores antes de que sea demasiado tarde.

Investiments in Infrastructure

In Obama's press conference Monday, he once again mentioned investing in several of our infrastructures. I agree this is essential to the health of the country. I would like to discus some of the investments I want included.

1) Transportation: The biggest challenge with electric vehicles is battery life. What if we could power these vehicles wirelessly. I am talking about technology similar to that used to charge your electric tooth brush and is being used to power appliances in homes today. The technology is referred to as wireless resonant induction and can be used to effectively transmit electrical power over distances of several feet. If this technology was incorporated in to road construction, cars and large trucks, they could travel cross country without the need of batteries. T. Boone Pickens could keep his natural gas.

The power for this system could be supplied by a system of solar and wind generaters constructed along the road way and tied into the grid. In urban and suburban areas the sound walls could be resurfaced with Nanosolar's CIGSS photovoltaic film. Numerous small, high wind resistant turbines would be visually less intrusiveand capable of operating a greater percentage of the time. As more power is needed, additional units of these system could be added.

2) Energy: Invest in making each residence a net producer of electricity. This land is currently being used solely for habitation. The exterior surface already exists, but is sitting idlw. This property should be put to dual use. By switching the current roofing and siding materials to photovoltaic shingles and siding each house would be generating more electricity than it uses on average. To help on extremely overcast days and at night a system of 6 foot wind turbines should be included at up to 30 feet above the ground. All of these units are incorporated into the grid to supply electricity demanding industries and occasional calm, cloudy days and calm nights in nearby communities. All of this is tied into a smart grid.

3) Automanufacturing: Purchase controlling interest in any automaker needing financial assistance. Split the company into 3 or 4 smaller companies. Fire the current top management and boards. Replace them with new management based on their commitment to future technologies and let them compete for the best ideas.

4) Credit crisis: Add credit insurance to unemployment insurance. This does not reward poor borrowing. It protects the economy and American citizens from the unforseen loss of employment and the credit damage that results during a slow economy. It doesn't allow for more credit, but does prevent default on credit cards and home foreclosure. The causes of today's economic meltdown. Itreduces the prospect of working families becoming homeless through no fault of their own. When the person is gainfully reemployed the benefit ends. It is cheaper and more humane than what we are going through today. Ask the 56,000 former employees of Citigroup.

5) Insurance reform: Make mandated insurance "not for profit". To require people to have auto insurance, home owners insuranc, and health insurance while insurance companies goal is to make a profit from it is corporate socialism. The companies should be allowed to cover their expenses and maintain a responsible reserve. They should not be able to make exhoritant profits when the consumer is forced to purchase their product or service. Any voluntary insurance can be for profit.

6) Flood Control: The current approach to flood control should be scrapped. Commercial areas that require proximity to waterways should be controlled. Rural farm related buildings and infrastructure should be protected. Farmland itself should be allowed to flood. Residential buildings in general should be built out of the flood plain. No more houses on the river bank. This will allow the flooding of the farmlands that was responsible for their initial fertility and give the flood waters some place to go instead of up. This will protect the vital shipping infrastructue during floods and save the futile spending of billions trying to contain flooding rivers.

Are you watching cable news today? The Auto Industry CEOs are begging Congress to turn the U.S. into another China: State-managed capitalism. Some people think that sounds a lot like National Socialism or Nazism.

I've got a different perspective. Instead of bailing out the private-jet-setting CEOs and their omnicidal* automobile industry, I say nationalize it!

Because the fossil fuel, automobile and military industries have brought us this Climate Crisis, creating our greatest national security threat EVER, isn't it apt and just that we take them over and use them to reduce the crisis? In the name of National Defense and Homeland Security.

All the Auto Industry will do if it gets bailed out is increase fuel-efficiency by a few miles per gallon. They won't abandon the Hummer.

For ten years I've been calling for a Retool Now! conversion of Detroit. Back then I said retool the factories so that only vehicles that get 75 MPG are made from now on. Of course, most of the industrial capacity should be shifted away from private vehicles entirely and used to create advanced public transportation vehicles. The future is in the public transportation sector and the rental, not ownership of personal vehicles.

So lets nationalize the Auto Industry and tell Obama to appoint Amory Lovins the Secretary of Transportation, and forget about bailing out any capitalist institutions. Oh, and lets not forget to...

Nobel Prize winner in economics Joseph E. Stiglitz and Linda J. Bilmes have published "The Three Trillion Dollar War: The True Cost Of The Iraq Conflict." As your Congressman, I will introduce a three trillion dollar conversion program to protect us as much as possible from the effects of a destabilized climate system and to minimize our further aggravation of the climate crisis.

When I founded Climate Action NOW! (originally as WE CAN! aka World Emergency! Climate Action NOW!) on May 1, 1996, and declared a global Climate Crisis emergency, I produced and published this draft of a ten-point plan to engage in a "War Effort" to convert our fundamental economic infrastructure to a decentralized, post-fossil fuels (including "Clean Coal"-sic), post-nuclear power, post globalization society as fast as humanly possible. It was and is the only way to confront the actual order of magnitude and urgency of the Climate Crisis. Like the Asian tsunami teaches us, it can become too little, too late. If you don't evacuate from the beach soon enough and get far enough away from it, you will die even if you are running in the right direction.

A 50% reduction in U.S. fossil fuel emissions by 2050 is not fast enough according to the overwhelming scientific evidence. Our actual task is to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide levels back to 280 ppm as fast as humanly possible, even if it means corporate capitalism falls by the wayside. Look at New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, and Galveston and you can see that every year it becomes too late for millions of people and places. And what is capitalism doing for those people now? If it can't make the changes fast enough, then we must say goodbye to capitalism or lose everything that any of us care about. And if we don't have capitalism, then we have to design a replacement, in the nick of time, or face the collapse of civilization and omnicide.

So as a contrast to the Republicans and Democrats spending three trillion dollars for a genocidal criminal war of conquest to support our corporations, and another trillion dollars (to begin with!) to bailout capitalism and the profits of the super-rich, and to expand our thinking on these matters, I submit here the planetary bailout plan that I've been promoting for twelve years. I'll be revising it soon and would love your input.

PREAMBLE: Because we are loving and compassionate creatures, and because the best science available to use at this time suggests the need to reduce U.S. fossil-fuel emissions to 80% below 1990 levels in the next five to ten years; because we must do this in concert with similar, relatively-scaled programs in the rest of the industrialized world in order to prevent the likelihood of catastrophic climate changes that would destroy the conditions necessary to produce our food, clothing and shelter, and which would create monstrous storm and flood conditions that would destroy our coastal and river communities and create weather extremes of snow and drought never before experienced by civilized humans,

We call upon our elected and appointed government servants to declare a national emergency to confront the Climate Crisis and uphold their sworn oaths to protect our national and local security and the well being of their fellow citizens by immediately enacting the following emergency program for national ecological and economic security, this Citizens Mandate for Climate Stabilization and Community Well Being.

1. Divert the U.S. Military Budget into the funding of a true program for national, community and personal security; a program which funds the reconstruction of strong, ecologically-benign, local economies in which no American community is dependent upon exporting to the global economy or the destruction of local natural systems to meet the needs of its people. It should include

a) a Community Reconstruction and Revitalization Jobs Program to convert the infrastructures of all American communities away from a fossil-fuel and nuclear energy-based, consumerist economic foundation and toward a zero-waste economic structure which does not degrade the ability of the earth's natural systems to provide a high quality of life for all future generations as long as they maintain the wisdom to live in balance with these precious natural systems and ecological communities.

b) a Natural Systems Restoration Program: the most important and wisest investment in our children's future that we could possibly make, and the most fundamental source of our social security is a program which removes the toxins with which we have overburdened our natural environment for far too long; a program which rebuilds all of the essential structures of our soils, fields and forests, which reintroduces extirpated species where possible, in an effort to restore the natural species interrelationships in the oceans and upon the continents as close as we possibly can to the original, evolving blueprint, the one we never succeeded in surpassing.

We must commence extensive, bioregionally-based, carrying capacity assessments in order to truly know how much change is essential to restore the balanced involvement of humanity with the rest of nature, and to establish genuinely sustainable communities. Climate stability and long-horizon, community self-sufficiency are inextricably dependent upon our success in this endeavor.

c) a Personal Security Program which includes

* the rapid implementation of a 20-hour work week, with a livable wage and social security, in order to eliminate the need for jobs in the production of superfluous, ecologically-destructive consumer items, wasteful promotion-oriented packaging, and to immediately reduce the need to burn fossil fuels to get people to work.

* a substantial guaranteed income available to all citizens who might lose their jobs or be unable to find private sector work as we shut down the destructive sectors of the economy. This income would, for the most part, be linked to involvement in community-controlled conversion and restoration projects. Social Security benefits guaranteed as a birth right.

* free, convenient and safe public transportation.

* free education of any kind, to advance the intellect, the spirit, the body, or the community.

* low cost health care designed around a system of localized neighborhood health clinics to meet most primary care needs at a modest cost.

* free neighborhood-based day care, and other programs to meet the needs and desires of people by involving the elderly and all other civically-minded people who would now have an abundance of free time to get reinvolved in their community, rebuilding the personal bonds and investments in the welfare of their neighbors that truly generate social security and stability, and create the conditions for the pursuit of happiness to flourish.

* extensive government funding for the arts, to rejuvinate our spirits and compensate for the rapid reduction of our personal acquisitional powers once we have to pay something approaching the real costs for fewer consumer goods. It is time to celebrate and restore the meaning of "Cultured Society". It is time for a new Rennaisance.

2. Establish a Zero-Loss Environmental Accounting System, with resource and energy replacement costs inclusive. No net degradation to the ecological foundations of our human economy. We must eliminate our unconscionable practice of "externalizing" costs and dumping their burdens on poorer countries, future generations, and other species. Externalities hide from consumers the true costs of producing consumer goods, reduce their prices to consumers, thus allowing us to voraciously consume murderous quantities of crap, and accelerate the need for landfills and toxic waste incinerators.

3. Implement a Carbon Tax to discourage production and consumption of fossil fuels, and rebalance the false economics that allows nonrenewable energy sources to outcompete renewables in the marketplace.

4. Rescind the GATT and NAFTA agreements and reverse the direction of America's expanding globalization of the economy. Shift with a war-effort intensity toward the redevelopment of strong, ecologically-balanced, bioregionally-based, community economies.

5. To restrict the corporate control of the economy, eliminate the virtual personhood of corporations, and reestablish community control of corporate charters.

6. Establish public finanancing of federal and state elections. Prohibit the purchasing of deceptive, manipulative, mass media election propaganda.

7. Establish a National Citizen Initiative and Referendum Process. Right now our democratic process is limited to the state initiative process which exists in only a few states.

8. Enforce an immediate, absolute ban on any further industrialized or mechanized intrusions in wildland regions, especially the construction of new roads.

9. Decriminalize hemp, to develop fiber sources for paper production and other essential uses which could substitute for industrialized logging production, and thus prevent any further degradation of forests.

Eliminate prison sentences for marijuana-related crimes and allow the development of a regulated, legalized, marijuana economy. This will allow the elimination of tens of thousands of taxpayer-financed, makework jobs, and reduce a tremendous burden on our prison system, and it will allow us to acknowledge that because so many Americans accepted monstrous government lies, we allowed a system of institutionalized violence to terrorize so many of our friends and neighbors.

Jail the real drug dealers, the nation's automobile and oil industry executives and their public relations consultants. We can not create a humane and decent culture in an environment of sanctioned lies.

10. All military funding (except veteran pension and healthcare funding for past and present members of the armed forces) should be raised solely from voluntary military defense contributions. No mandatory taxes to support the armed forces. Only bake sales and panhandling should be allowed. If America is threatened, Americans will eagerly finance their defense. But we will no longer finance the ststematic, genocidal, demolition of nationalized third world economies, traditional indigenous cultures, and the murdering of millions of innocent people in order to dominate an empire of foreign economies so that multinational corporate profits stay high, resource and foreign labor costs remain low, and American jobs, wages, communities, and so many of our fellow citizens disintegrate.

This we CAN DO. We CAN become lovers of life, and each other, once again.

METHOD OF OPERATION BY THE AUTO INDUSTRIES & GOVERNMENT

Tell me how will a plug-in to charge electric car work if a person lives on the 15th floor of an apartment in Queens or living in any apartment if they can only park on the side of the road? This situation will cause many obstacles and hazards. If a family has more that one electric car, the aggravation and process of charging all the cars over night will cause people to go back to buying gas powered cars. The situation can be compounded when dealing with these dilemmas during bad weather? Worst of all, the many jobs that gas companies provide like truck drivers, gas station owners and workers and countless associated jobs will be lost and cause more people to be unemployed. The best type of electric cars are "Rechargeable Battery Exchange Cars". These cars will create more jobs. The way it will work, will be that when the battery runs out of power, the car owner will go to a station that sells gas for cars, but also has an area for battery exchange to switch the rechargeable battery that went dead for a battery that is fully charged.

How Will it Work:

Pulling up in front of a Battery Extract and Input System (BEIS) machine to exchange batteries. Swipe the credit card and select on the keypad the type of batteries. The options base on affordability could be two 50/50 batteries for 100 miles, 150 miles or 200 miles, a single battery for 50, 75 or 100 miles, the 50/50 batteries for 200 miles. Attached the BEIS tube to the car and select on the keypad the option to extract one or two batteries (process in less than a minuet). After which there will be a beeping signal to select the input batteries button . This process would takes less than a couple of minuets to complete. Remove the tube from the car and get receipt for the transaction.

The Bigger Picture:

Each state would have multiple energy farms of various types such as wind, thermo or solar energy generated and stored in warehouses geared solely for battery charging. These batteries would be picked up and placed on special delivery trucks from the warehouses. The batteries would then be delivered to Battery Exchange Stations and Engine Replacement Auto Centers. Every states have the same standard for fittings and sizes of batteries. Each state will have their own price for their batteries, there would be standards set for the minimum/maximum price of each battery nation wide. Batteries will be well insulted and automatically switch off on impact.

How the process will come together.

Wind, thermo, solar energy farms or a combination;
Warehouses for storing energy;
Rechargeable car batteries warehouses;

What is the leading cause of death for all (north American) adults aged 18 to 44?
According to research commissioned by the (eastern) Canadian equivalent of our Surgeon General, the War on Drugs kills more 18 to 44 year olds than anything else! Not killed by the usage of drugs mind you, but by the waging of war on them. Most are (Homicides) by law enforcement, and next is gangster deaths (Homicides), over drug sales. This is very reminiscent of the criminal gangs created by Prohibition of Alcohol in the 1920s.
Most drug arrests are for marijuana possession. Packing our jails and prisons with the young men of inner city communities (mostly young men of color), has not slowed the rise of drug use in America at all, it has only served to deprive us of the many legitimate uses of the hemp plant. We are deprived of all uses except the recreational drug use this drug war purports to be stopping at great expense.
Industrial hemp is the best plant source for the bio fuel industry, and if the bio fuel industry in America is forced to use corn instead of Hemp to make Bio fuel, it's production will be less profitable, less efficient, and the American bio fuel industry will probably fail, thus hemp is needed for America's energy needs and the success of any transition to green fuel and the green economy.

The ban on hemp cultivation can be lifted and control of hemp transfered to the Agriculture dept.

The DEA's highest administrative law judge ruled there was no evidence to support placing Marijuana (Hemp) on schedule 1. This ruling was overturned by presidential decree I believe.

President Barack Obama can change this unjust and cruel ban by writ ?

This change for the better can lay the foundation for and gather the support needed to address more intractible problems like health care.

3) The Corvette has used fiberglass in the auto body for fifty years. What percentage of the modern car uses materials like foam, aluminum, carbon fiber, Kevlar and Lexan to make them safer, more durable and higher MPG?

4) I can wrap an ABS-plastic canoe around a tree and use it again. Why not a car? Why do you design cars that cost so much to repair? Why don't you use modular construction? Why does body-work for minor collisions cost so much? Do your dealers make money from minor repair work? Do you intentionally make cars easily damaged so that you make more money repairing them?

5) Do you hire engineers only from specific schools to do your design work? If we were to subpoena your employer roster would we see only a few schools supply most of your employees? I formally congratulate our President Elect Obama and everyone involved for making this moment in our history a reality. I am not typically an emotional person. This makes my outburst of euphoric surprise (and happiness) as momentous as the magical seed of hope now planted inside me. When "possibility" manages to evict "cynicism" from an otherwise cemented mind, what is one supposed to do? I don't know about you, but I've taken the proactive roll of joining this community ( I am the ultimate anti-social type, so this is a big deal) and exercise my given right to protect my country and those I love through the power of free speech and information. So if the soapbox fits, I'm challenging everyone to wear it and join in on my concerns as well as fill the gaps in places I need informing.

Now on to business!

The media water cooler is vibrating from all the names being thrown about for Obama's cabinet. Now, I may not be able to add a juicy name to the pot yet, but I do know the criteria I feel must be followed in order for Obama's promises of an energy independent, strong economic and healthy nation to come to fruition. My first area of concern - agriculture,the safety of our food supply and the possibility of Tom Vilsack becoming our next Secretary of Agriculture.

Why?

Let's start with Tom Vilsack. He advocates genetically engineered crops and energy-intensive agricultural practices while toting an agenda for the United States to reduce its energy dependence on foreign countries and cutting our carbon. These are contradicting dogmas that cannot function together. Energy-intensive agriculture requires massive amounts of petroleum products. Everything from the machinery to the fertilizer. This type of agricultural practice not only strips the soil of nutrients and makes the land vulnerable to erosion (think of the dust bowl, but makes it impossible for farmers to make it without government subsidies. Our average commercial wheat grower loses 5 cents per bushel. Not to mention that the nutritional quality of our food and soil are degrading from one season to the next. If we are going to get away from being a petroleum dependent nation, such inefficient and costly practices must change over to what the organic and sustainable methods are providing in yield, nutritional quality and energy use.

Tom Vilsack's pom-poms for genetically engineered food are going to put the United States into not only an economic hole, but a health one as well. Economically, farmers are losing more and more of their seeds to crazed-mass patenting by the agro-influencing pharmaceutical corporations. Seeds, I may add, they have the God given right to raise and plant from one generation to the next. They are also losing crops to cross contamination. Seeds and crops are being patented and manipulated by agrochemical, bio-tech and pharmaceutical companies (MONSANTO, CARGIL, DOW...you know who you are) and there are no restrictions as to where and how they can plant and test their crops. This means that their genetically engineered pollen can ride the free wave of nature's wind and take over other farmers' crops, even the ones carefully tended to as Organic. Now why should that concern ME you ask? Well, our bodies are one big chemistry set. Everything we breathe, drink or put in our mouths breaks down and changes once it starts traveling through our body system. If you eat corn that has been altered by the DNA of a soil bacteria and an amphibian (no, I am not kidding), it means that "that" is going into you body and your body must react to "it". Now, would you eat a handful of dirt? No, because the bacteria and a whole host of other things in it will make you sick. Would you lick or eat a live frog? Probably not (unless you are one of those strange beings looking for a very desperate poisoning high). But your body is going to react to those foreign DNA intrusions and that can lead to everything from misdiagnosed asthma, hay fever or a very scary trip to the emergency room (don't even get me started on long term effects upon organs, reproductive systems and child development).

Our nation is suffering already (and perhaps due to GM tainting) from skyrocketing cases of cancer, diabetes, obesity, malnutrition, heart disease, bronchial infections and disorders, Celiac disease, and an alarming rise in autism. This is only naming a few and they are especially affecting our children and the poor. Now doesn't this make you concerned about our health care system? Yes, there is a direct link to the quality of our diets to the quality of our health. Most of what we suffer from is preventative, but only if we have the power to make decisions about our food. That is a right we all have, not only as Americans but as human beings and this right is threatened. Even now, the USDA is rushing through its rules on GE foods and pharmaceutical crops. This essentially takes protection away from us and makes it easier (and more profitable) for the companies behind the engineering. This puts money in their pockets and takes money out of ours as taxpayers and consumers. I don't know about anyone else, but I pay a lot for my health insurance and that is just to have it. We are in a healthcare crisis that President Elect Obama has put great emphasis upon within his agenda for our country. Remember, we can survive without gasoline, but no living thing on this planet will survive without food and water that functions in our bodies the way they are supposed to.

Back to Tom Vilsack. I realize he is a friend and has supported Obama throughout his campaign. However, if President Elect Obama is going to keep his word he needs people who's alliances will make his proposed policies a reality, and that means making sure their agendas don't contradict his own or that of the people's safety and health.

So for any other candidate for this position or any other cabinet placement, I ask this - if they are pro-gene tic modification or have MONSANTO (or any agrochemical, biotech, pharmaceutical company) on their resume, think hard and twice about considering them for a position of such importance and power. People may be poor, losing their homes or going through other hard times, but everyone must eat and an economy is nothing if all the people are dying or sick.

Dear Sir:

Within every problem lies an opportunity. We can immediately take advantage of this truth and greatly benefit our country by addressing several problems simultaneously.

We need a large number of new jobs for the people of America, (millions of jobs ASAP).

We need to raise a trillion dollars a year in capital for the next ten or so years to build a new alternative energy base for our country.

We need to raise this enormous sum of money, to the greatest extent, without recourse to the financial industry, which is in turmoil and is likely to remain so for a long time, or to the country's general tax revenues, of which there are not nearly enough for all the other demands already being made upon them.

The government is fiscally stretched, with huge deficits and it will be difficult to fund programs that will put people to work, without fueling inflation.

An old idea, modernized: Liberty Bonds can solve all these problems.

'United Stated Energy Bonds' and 'United States Energy Stamps'

United States Energy Backed Financial Instruments are an excellent alternative solution, that will generate enormous amounts of capital without upsetting other areas of the economy. There is a huge pool of money available within our country and around the world that could purchase these instruments. These instruments can be offered within a very short period of time, 60 to 90 days after you are sworn in.

Energy bonds will very quickly generate hundreds of billions of dollars, and eventually as the loans are repaid and the funds reloan, create a capital fund of several trillions of dollars.

United States Energy Backed Financial Instruments would be placed with the citizens of our country or citizens of the world. They would pay a modest interest and would be repaid from the money that is saved or earned from the energy projects both small and large, that are funded with the money raised through them.

The money raised with Energy Bonds should be legally segregated from the general funds raised through taxes and other revenue procedures of the Federal Government, allowing the energy fund to build to the tremendous level that will be required to redevelop our energy generation and energy use infrastructure. These funds should not be commingled in any way with other government funds. This money should be loaned or in rare instances, used for loan guarantees. The money would never be given or granted. With time, as this pool of money grows, enormous amounts of money will be available to help launch the many large alternative energy projects the business and industrial sectors of United States must build: (high mileage autos, solar thermal generators, solid state power panel manufacturing and other facilities to produce all the necessary equipment and systems)and also, to capitalize the very great amount of work, the people must do, (home energy improvements, water and air heating systems, heat pumps, distributed end use solar electric systems, et c.), to re-found our country on a new secure energy base.

Eventually, in ten or twenty or thirty years, when the new alternative energy infrastructure has come into existence, and when the enormous pool of funds is no longer required, the money might be turned over to the social security administration to help offset the enormous cost of social security and other entitlement programs. The U.S. is facing huge funding deficits for these social programs, daunting problems that have no apparent solution at this time. The future Energy Bond Fund, having served it's intended purpose, might also help solve these deficit problems at that time.

In conclusion and summary,

(1) that Energy Backed Securities would be unique revenue instruments that would only fund projects that could pay the interest and repay the principal using the money from the sale of the energy produced or saved by those projects.

(2) that the money raised with these instruments would be raised apart from Wall Street. In this way, the shortage of ready credit in the financial community will have little or no effect on the raising of money needed to finance a new alternative energy infrastructure.

(3) that these funds would be raised apart from and with out resort to, the general tax or other revenues of the U.S. government, which are already inadequate to meet other demands.

(4) that rebuilding and re-founding our energy generation and use infrastructure will generate millions of new jobs across the U.S. and in accomplishing these things, as many as fifty million jobs will be created and recreated during the next fifteen or so years. This undertaking will be the primary engine of growth for the economy of the United States for the foreseeable future.

(5) that financing that infrastructure with funds raised with Energy Bonds and similar energy backed instruments, will accomplish this more quickly than any other alternative.

It's been a couple of days and I must tell you that the excitement has not abated. The fact that the Nation has selected an intelligent, articulate, caring individual is still causing a buzz everywhere I go. I had to head off to Times Square on business early Wednesday morning with very little sleep and the train to NYC was packed with excitement. Yesterday, traveling back home we were analyzing the impact that Obama will have on the economy, Iraq, Afghanistan, jobs, health care, on and on and on.

One important hope is that the campaign keeps this web forum active in the form of energizing supporters.

Here's the idea:

Image President Obama submitting a health care plan that the Republicans block (I know, you wouldn't dream that they would do such a thing.) Now, image Obama asking you, me, and everyone on this forum to call the key 13, 14, 15 Senators who are blocking the bill. 30 million supporters flooding their phones, email, snail mail. Do you think they'll continue to block a bill when their names, addresses, and phone numbers are text messaged to each and every one of you? I can't image any but the most bull headed Senator not buckling under the pressure.

Yes, we can change our health care system.

Yes, we can create good paying jobs.

Yes, we can improve our transportion.

Yes, we can develop independent, renewable energy technologies.

Yes, We Can!

WHO IS THAT GUY BARACK OBAMA? HE IS US.

We have made historic headway by together pointing our nation in the right directions. After decades, we have America focused on the issues of fundamental importance. Now, each of us acting in concert can together move our country to lead the world to the fruitfulness of moral goodness. I have no doubts about my abilities and the abilities of fellow Americans to work smart and hard to achieve these goals.

Barack Obama has the visions, leadership, and integrity for us to correct and redirect our country to once again lead the world for the fruitions of good. Let's closely listen, learn, and move forward based on that which we know deep inside is good and which we can validate with our hearts.

I hope that those who had but a few reasons to support Obama, look further into the other issues more deeply. I found the more I explored, studied, and listened to Obama the more I found us in agreement. The couple of issues that I did not have depth of knowledge of, quickly became obvious in need. This was unusual for me since I have always refused to be any kind of a follower, and still am not. I find Obama to be a deep thinker who is articulate and inspirational; and, of most fundamental importance, Obama makes excellent moral sense.

Hopefully, our country has learned lessons from the past of mistakenly following leadership blindly, as was done with Nixon and Bush. There are leaders who are simply in it for themselves and will cater to individuals or groups in order to grab for their own benefit. Corrupt and bad leaders hide at all levels. This is especially true in city government as well as county and state government. The corrupt deals of politicians need to be exposed, and those responsible need to be weeded out in the coming local elections. Others need to be investigated by law enforcement and be prosecuted for illegal dealings; for deals they often make for their hidden personal agendas. Let’s look at the bad experiences of the past as bitter medicines, let’s eliminate the need for such bad medicine in the future. Let us use what we know is good to go forward.

I believe we have chosen wisely, not by greed and not by misguided retaliatory anger. I believe this time our country has chosen with open eyes, with each of us listening and examining our choice of leadership closely, driven and validated by our hearts.

I hope we can continue to make our efforts even more inclusive (in many more ways than I touch on here). Far right republicans will be stubborn to change, but we will need to include them to change if we are to succeed. Sure a few more will leave our country, but that is not the American way. No, we really don't need their false fronts of power, money, insider knowledge, or other trappings that they have taught many to 'respect?'. Let's recruit as many as we can, that's the American way, evolving and changing together as one nation. Try to be understanding as we move forward; by better understanding each as individuals and people with various desires and needs we will find ways to reach out with friendship and have them join our causes of good.

Be on the lookout, and root out bad leadership in government and business. Do not be intimidated by those who use the false fronts of power and give a false sense of security in order to lead. Be extra leery of those who say or imply ‘Trust me’; those who give a sense that they somehow omnipotently know better. No longer will Americans be dazzled by phony displays of brilliance or baffled by baloney. There are government aristocrats and business leaders who still believe in the old adage of: “If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle em with bullshit”. We can embrace complexity by demanding true, fundamental, and understandable explanations. We can root out falsehoods by not accepting double speak. We as Americans know how to grow ourselves by first believing in ourselves. Don’t be a follower. Don’t be a follower of followers.

However, when we find leaders who are good; a leader that thinks, speaks, and acts from their heart; one that is honest, has integrity, and leads by sincere examples; then we need to in a big way, join them, support them, and promote their causes of good. From much research, investigation, and scrutiny, I believe Barack Obama is such a person. I hope we search for and find many more who are similar, who we can add to service at all levels of government. We need to add/replace leaders in business with ones that have honesty, integrity, and show quality in leadership. We need more people in leadership roles who are moral, like Barack Obama.

Remember, we are not fighting a battle, we are the artisans and sculptors of the future for ourselves and generations to come. Rarely do societies have opportunities to make such dramatic moves forward as we now have in this opportunity of today. Take pride and practice in being inclusive as we stride forward. In moving forward, create opportunity not only for yourself, but also for all. Hope is a wonderful thing to behold; but without opportunity, hope can become but a dream never achievable. We can, will, and must, create opportunity.

In the coming year I hope that we do not lose our spiritedness, but instead continue to build and make headway. I hope we all continue our campaign for change in government and business. We will succeed in moving forward once again, it will take much effort and good oversight on the part of each of us. We will make great strides in the months and years ahead in order to achieve the fruitions of good. Let's keep our enthusiasm progressing through these coming toughest of times. Let us use the light of goodness and love to motivate us with historic momentum.

I am thinking that Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, the president of RPI and the former chair of the NRC under Clinton, is a viable candidate. She is also the first black women to recieve a PhD in Physics from MIT. Anyone have any opinions on this?
