Oscar Grant, Will he die in vain?

The recent horrific news of another innocent American citizen being murdered at the hands of a police department really does not come as a surprise for me because of the past year's other tragic events that had a similar theme. Sean Bell and Baron Pikes just to name a few, these types of crimes need to be addressed and further more the whole police procedure and the laws the police are enforcing needs a serious second look because these types of tragedies will continue to happen in less the environments and situations in which things are handled are readdressed.

Obama’s “Yes We Can” Illusion ...and the Killing Reality for Black People

(from Revolution newspaper #141, August 24, 2008)
Obama’s “Yes We Can” Illusion
...and the Killing Reality for Black People
by Carl Dix

This presidential election season something different is happening. Three years ago, tens of thousands of Black people were left to die as Katrina’s flood waters surged in New Orleans. Last year, lynching nooses were being hung all across the country, from Jena, Louisiana, to New York City. But now, one of the two major parties is about to nominate an African-American, Barack Obama, to be the president of the U.S. This is major.
