This year at the annual Telluride Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival and The Library of America present a special program in honor of artist and film critic Manny Farber. "The Celebration of Manny Farber" will include an intimate bookstore signing of The Library of America's September 2009 release Farber on Film: The Complete Film Writings of Manny Farber with editor Robert Polito. Since 1975 the Deauville American Film Festival has been showcasing American cinematographic diversity, hosting Hollywood royalty, as well as discovering new talents, actors, directors. This year more than 100 films will be presented to the public on three sites through September 13 in Deauville, France. International animation show, Fantoche 09, in Baden from September 8-13, offers a film programme in several parts of the use of human beings in animated film, and over several editions of the festival, Fantoche explores the interface between animation film and game design. The Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival social calendar runs September 9-13 starting with Opening Night Festivities, followed by daily & nightly filmmaker/musician receptions, industry workshops, a Lifetime and Career Achievement Awards Black Tie Gala, a Sunday morning Hot Air Balloon Ride, a Closing Night Wrap party and Best of Fest special screening presentations. A Disney fan experience in which guests will enjoy exhibits, screenings, presentations and interactive experiences from every part of The Walt Disney Company happens in Anaheim, September 10-13. Talent from Walt Disney Pictures films, ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN and more will be on hand for meet-and-greets, and Disney Couture will debut its new line at a fashion show.

This year's Chicago Underground Film Festival, September 10-17, follows past festival blueprint in which selected films often ignore limitations of genre, and which alternative music films, political agitprop, formal experimentation, and high camp are not uncommon elements of the Festival program. During the Toronto International Film Festival 2009, September 10-17, everyone is invited to Yonge-Dundas Square (YDS) for a playful and dynamic line-up of free screenings, concerts, performances, guest appearances, and special events. The TriMedia Film Festival has an innovative "tri-media" focus, with independent film, TV pilots/specials, and live theatre, rated a PG-13 or equivalent rating limit, and screenings and exhibit entries from all over the world. Festivities running September 11-13 in Fort Collins, open with a Double Feature and VIP Celebrity Party. "Come Together: A Night for John Lennon's Words and Music"

This movie found it's way to me and I haven't even watched but the first 15 minutes of it and it hit me that this would be something that all American's might want to see right now. It's a tribute to the people of New York City and how they "Came Together" after the 9/11 events, using John Lennon's words and music. I can tell it is very uplifting and emotional. It was broadcast live on October 2, 2002. I don't know where I was then but I was asleep and too wrapped up in my own little life garbage problems to know it was happening. I'm wide awake now and I believe, as a nation, we could use a LOT of uplifting RIGHT NOW. It would be a huge reminder of what the people of our great nation did as they came together after 9/11 and we can do it again. Today, it seems that our nation is falling apart and we all need this reminder. I highly recommend to every American that they watch this video as soon as possible. Give it a shot, you might be happily surprised.

On Thursday, August 6, OFA had a table at Swingin’ Summer Thursday in West Chester, PA. It WAS swingin’: a hot salsa band just half a block away.

I saw no end to the enthusiasm of people for President Obama’s three principles of health care reform. The people I talked to know the issues, know disinformation when they see or hear it, and are ready to phone or even visit their members of Congress now that those members will be in their “home” offices for the rest of the month.

The people who sign the declarations have not been fooled one bit by the propaganda. They are going to lead us to victory.

OFA at the Coatesville Ice Cream Festival, July 11, 2009

OFA in northern Chester County, PA had to divide its forces over the weekend of July 10-12. Friday evening was the Blobfest in Phoenixville (honoring the movie “The Blob” which was filmed in part in Phoenixville). Saturday was the Rotary Club’s Ice Cream Festival in Coatesville.

A community festival is a goldmine of organizing opportunity. People are having fun and they bring their children along. Those are two good starting points for discussing healthcare reform.

The Ice Cream Festival featured the Lukens (Steel) Concert Band, Lukens Dixieland Band, and the Lukens German Band. (Lukens is the big steel mill in Coatesville and was a prime employer for the city for decades. My grandfather and father both worked there.) Also at the Ice Cream Festival were antique cars, crafts, face painting, food and, of course, ice cream. There were numerous non-profits there and some medical and dental services.

All this was fertile ground for discussion and gaining endorsements for the President’s three principles. Often, as soon as I mentioned health care reform, the person I was talking with would grab the pen and sign.

We need to convince the congressman who represents much of the area, Gerlach (R-PA), that our broken health care system affects the entire country, including those who put him in office.

The meeting in the Capitol's Strom Thurmond Room on March 11 was a Republican effort led by Sens. McCain of Arizona, John Thune of South Dakota, and Mel Martinez of Florida to reach out to Hispanics. But two people who attended the session say they were taken aback by McCain's anger.
What began as a collegial airing of views abruptly changed when McCain spoke about immigration, according to these sources, who asked not to be identified for fear of retribution. Anonymity was also requested by a third source, who was not at the meeting but was told, independently of the other two, that McCain had displayed his notorious temper.
"He was angry," one source said. "He was over the top. In some cases, he rolled his eyes a lot. There were portions of the meeting where he was just staring at the ceiling, and he wasn't even listening to us. We came out of the meeting really upset."
McCain's message was obvious, the source continued: After bucking his party on immigration, he had no sympathy for Hispanics who are dissatisfied with President Obama's pace on the issue. "He threw out [the words] 'You people -- you people made your choice. You made your choice during the election,' " the source said. "It was almost as if [he was saying] 'You're cut off!' We felt very uncomfortable when we walked away from the meeting because of that."

U.S. voters don't blame Obama for economy

Asked who was responsible for the economic meltdown, 80 percent in the poll blamed banks, financial institutions and corporations. Some 70 percent also blamed consumers for taking on too much debt and the former Bush administration for lax regulation. Only 26 percent said the Obama administration was not doing enough to turn the situation around.
Two-thirds of respondents approve of the way Obama is handling the presidency, and 60 percent approve of the way he is handling the economy.
Sixty-four percent said were confident Obama's policies will improve the economy, down from 72 percent just before he took office in January.
Forty two percent said the country was now heading in the right direction, a five-year high. Late last year, when then-President George W. Bush was in its final months, as many as nine in 10 American said the country was heading in the wrong direction.

(New Orleans, LA) Announcing CulturePAC, a Public Action Coalition for inclusive effective citizen-driven economic development in New Orleans.

As the City of New Orleans and the Horizon Initiative begin the formation of a new public private economic development agency that will determine the strategies, policies and spending of many millions of dollars over the coming years it has opened an opportunity for economic development processes in New Orleans to become a truly inclusive and effective process in our city. However, in order for this to be the case, wide citizen involvement is necessary. CulturePAC has been organized to this end. The City of New Orleans has committed $6 million over the next three years toward formation of this new agency and it is our responsibility to ensure these public funds are used wisely and to the benefit of the wider community.

Among the issues CulturePAC will address within economic development in New Orleans, and the formation of this new agency, are the use of public funds, poverty, falling wages, underemployment, rising joblessness, erosion of worker rights and other pressing concerns, needs and issues that previous economic development efforts have also failed to acknowledge and address. Within these issues CulturePAC will also work for the sustainability and growth of the region’s cultural economy and the entry and participation of New Orleans creative cultural workers into the new markets of the national and international cultural economy; and to ensure that the new economic development agency being formed by the City and the Horizon Initiative recognizes the vitality of the creative cultural sector, accept recommended strategies developed by the cultural sector, as well as funding.

CulturePAC views working for growth of the creative cultural sector as a poverty reduction strategy for New Orleans, since the vast majority of the creative cultural products and services the city and its tourism industry trades upon come from our most neglected and marginalized neighborhoods that remain unacknowledged by the old-guard economic elite that rules economic development.

One of the most interesting and entertaining and sometimes exasperating bit of technology is the MP3 player. Be they iPods, Samsungs, Zunes, etc., if you use them you have to synch them (or at least add media to them). And if you’re a Linux user, you know that outside of using CrossOver Office or Wine, iTunes is not an option. That doesn’t mean there aren’t options. In fact, there are more options for working with an MP3-type player in Linux than in any other operating system. In fact there are 10. One of these is Amarok. This is probably the most popular of all the music library tools on Linux. There’s a good reason for that. Amarok, well, rocks. Amarok plays well with iPods and most other devices (the Zune is getting close to being compatible), sports the standard features of today’s multimedia players (including cover art and lyrics support), and is simple to use. Amarok also adds Wikipedia support (so you can find information about that obscure band you’re all about), contextual information (similar to iTunes’ Genius), last.fm integration, and a script manager so you can create custom Amarok scripts and download other customized scripts. Amarok is probably the most consistent with iPod integration. And like any good Linux application, Amarok is themeable.

Another is Banshee: Banshee is another Linux favorite and is to GNOME what Amarok is to KDE. Banshee offers a number of outstanding features, such as video, device, podcast, and last.fm support; play queue; cover art; an artist/album browser; and search and smart playlist support. The Banshee interface is closer to the iTunes interface than Amarok, which will be a welcome surprise to those users migrating from iTunes. Banshee can be a bit trickier than Amarok with certain players. For instance, with some Sansa models you have to create an empty file in the devices root directory called .is_audio_player. With this file in place, Banshee will recognize the media player. Of course, when you use this method, Banshee will set the main directory as the root directory

Another to take a look at is Songbird .

Songbird is a cross-platform music management tool, based on Mozilla, that is still very much in beta. Songbird offers a lot of unique features, including built in Web browser, concert tickets, shoutcast radio, and customizable plugins. Along with the special features, Songbird has all the usual features of an iTunes replacement but offers an amazingly friendly interface. The Songbird interface is probably one of the most user-friendly simply because it is so much like a Web browser (the interface the majority of computer users are MOST familiar with).

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced today that the Commander-in-Chief's ball, honoring the country's active duty and reserve military, will be broadcast to American troops around the world on the Pentagon Channel, which is available via cable on 368 military bases and on commercial cable and satellite services throughout the United States. Overseas, the Pentagon Channel is distributed via cable and direct-to-home satellite to nearly one million troops via the American Forces Radio and Television Service.

Jon Bon Jovi will headline the talent lineup for the ball, which will be held on Tuesday, January 20th, at the National Building Museum. George Lopez will emcee the event, which also feature performances and appearances by Jordin Sparks, Miss America 2009 Kirsten Haglund, and Right On. The event is also co-hosted by the Senior Enlisted Advisors of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.

"This opportunity to honor our troops should not be limited to those who are able to be in the room with us for the evening," said PIC Executive Director Emmett S. Beliveau. "We want all our troops, around the world, to share in this special evening with the newly sworn-in President and Vice President and the excellent talent we have for the evening. Our troops deserve our thanks and our gratitude and this is one way we hope to express our thanks to those here and abroad."

"While a relatively small number of service members will be able to attend the Commander-in-Chief's Ball in person, they will represent more than 2 million men and women in uniform," said Col. Hiram Bell, director of public affairs for the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee. "Most of those service members will be able to watch the celebration on the Pentagon Channel, or later on Armed Forces Network, and we want them all to feel part of this historic event."

The Pentagon Channel will break into regular programming with live coverage of the Commander-in-Chief's Ball, including remarks by Department of Defense leadership and both the Vice President and the President. Coverage begins at approximately 8 PM Eastern time and continues throughout the evening.

The event will be produced by The iDream Company, led by entertainment executives Suzanne de Passe, Suzanne Costen, and Madison Jones, and written by Ruth Robinson. The iDream company has been recognized with Emmy Awards, Golden Globe and Peabody Awards.

Tickets are being provided free of charge to all invited guests, which includes active duty and reserve military, wounded warriors (Purple Heart recipients), families of fallen heroes, and spouses of deployed military. This event is not open to the general public.

Billy Ray Cyrus, Keke Palmer, and Usher Raymond IV are also scheduled to appear. 13-year-old Perry Rubin, daughter of entertainment reporter Sam Rubin, will be the special backstage correspondent. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss/White Cherry Entertainment are Executive Producers of the Neighborhood Inaugural ball, with Glenn Weiss directing. White Cherry Entertainment is also executive producing the 2009 Super Bowl Halftime Show and the 2009 Tony Awards, with Weiss also serving as Director.

The Kids' Inaugural concert special is executive produced by Greg Sills. Sills previously produced The Concert for New York (post-9/11), the Kids Choice Awards, and the VH1 Rock Honors. Louis J. Horvitz is the director.

Lincoln College Preparatory Academy's Wind Ensemble, a 45-student concert band has been invited to participate in a special rehearsal and recital program at Carnegie Hall in New York City in April 2009.

The Band Boosters are seeking community financial support in order to make this dream music experience a reality for students.

Lincoln High School is located in the 18th & Vine Historic District of Kansas City, Missouri. During the past few weeks, while I've engaged in deep research of new trends in internet marketing and social media for my own entrepreneurial initiatives, I've also been keeping track of much of the on-line media involved with the Obama campaign. Of all the great promotional videos that have emerged--my favorite has been this one pioneered by MC Yogi and a local California media team:

This high quality media production really captures the progressive edge, and may have really helped ground-in votes from the younger "hip" demographic. I've participated in helping this outstanding video go viral in it's organic distribution (nearly 250,000 views in just a few short weeks) by leveraging my own social media tool and skills across my networks.

After the video was initially released, I was told by friends that MC Yogi lives nearby, and that a few people who managed the media production are people I know and have worked with here in Marin County. I had a good feeling that I would likely have an opportunity to meet MC Yogi and congratulate him on such a successful production and contribution. That opportunity finally came last night when I attended the "Groove Garden" dance party in Fairfax--where MC Yogi did a live rendition and rap of the same "Vote for Hope" song for Obama. Directly after his performance, I approached MC Yogi, and shared with him my appreciation of the production, and let him know that it really inspired me. He is a great guy, and my further encouragement led him to also peform several more crowd-inspiring raps for Ganesha, Shiva, and other spiritual reverences.

It's great to realize that with just a few creative minds and some dedicated skill and time--nearly anyone can make significant contributions toward progressive change in this world.

Recently we have been worrying about paying for the gas and groceries, staying in our homes, keeping or finding a job. Hoping and praying for relief.

Obama Radio is Live - Share the Music

The folks at internet radio company Slacker have created a radio station based on the favored music of Barack Obama and his campaign.

Obama Radio includes Senator Obama's personal song picks (as detailed a recent Blender Magazine article), tracks from his favorite artists (specified in articles in Rolling Stone and others), music heard at Obama events and several tracks from the Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement CD. Many of the tracks from that CD include portions of Obama's speeches mixed into the songs.

You'll hear Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, John Mellencamp, James Brown, Ben Harper, John Mayer, India.Arie and many more.

Hopefully after Obama is in office he could address a few of these things for the better. Sure i know not everything can happen over night but it would sure be great. My Prayers go out to Barack Obama's Family at this time, i hope she feels better and everything is okay.

In todays society of starbucks, on demand tv, hybred cars, Internet, Internet Radio and other social mental stimulators.

you have a downside to society one of hate, racisim, neglect, abuse, shootings, stabbings, discrimination and other social violent things, how are we to stop all this and be a nice happy society? Possibly i can shed some light and possibly you can understand my point of view.

For Gays and Lesbians for Legal Marriage

So you got 2 guys or 2 girls who want to get married and share equal rights, not really a big deal its not like they are effecting you in any aspect most gays and lesbians own business(s), run business(s), are corporate managers, movie stars, musicians, poets, house designers, clothing designers, police officers, fire department personel and parents, the list can go on and on. Now alot of the gays and lesbians you would not know right off the bat some of your Best Friends could be gay or lesbian and you would never even know unless it came to that part of a conversation and or if they felt confortable telling you about it.

The Right Wing's and also Church Interest Groups have twisted gays and lesbians to be a "bad" thing however back in the roman Empire days you should see some of the photos and other literature that shows alot of same sex things, It was very open back then why cant it be now? Sure you have adam and eve, but i do belive IF adam and eve were suppost to be a certain way or whatever i dont belive they would have ate the apple, or done other things to defy god and do "worldly" things, Otherwise we would all be butt naked living in tents and fighting with rocks. But since thats really not how things turned out, its called human nature everyone has a right, there own mental train of thought and can decide for themselfs what they want to do or be.

Did you know most highschool teens are bisexuals and also as well its a "socially" accepted thing in most bigger highschools around the united states, as for the boys well its a bit more difficult for them to come out to the general peers due to gangs, violence, shootings, stabbings and just getting your butt kicked in general, cant people be free?

For Immigration Deportation and Hate in General.

Yes the 911 attack is something no one can ever forget or forgive to some degree, however just because a person is a diffrent ethnic culture or background does not intitle them to being hated or people thinking they have a bomb strapped to themselfs and are going to blow up your local wallmart or some other institution. Did you know after the september 11th attacks alot of people got hurt just because they were a diffrent culture, i find it very odd that people can just think oww wait there is someone who is muslim lets go beat him up, send him to the hospital since he might be one of the terrorists or something else. Very Pathetic.

As for Immigration i do belive in some aspects its okay to send a few of them home we got enough headache of our own to take care of let alone take care of another countries problems, however when it comes to circumstances where they have a family here (kids born here) i belive there should be some lee-way especially if both parents have jobs, rent or have a home, pay taxes, and contribute to the way of life and the economy. To just go around and scoop everyone up i belive is a bit pathetic and sad since what happends to the kids and mother or whoever gets deported? Dont you think it would cause some social and mental impact on how they feel about the united states in general and also as well the mental stress the kid has to go thru since well the government just deported mommy and daddy but yet since you were born here you are now into a foster care unit and you will be adopted by some american person that is legally able to live here. Or you can go with your parents and hopefully wont get raped, or killed or sold in some child trafficking network to make ends meat.

Discrimination Against Gays and Lesbians to Adopt Kids

Okay this subject is very interesting to me, alot of states i have noticed have banned or dis-allowed gays and lesbians to adopt kids and or teenagers, i feel thats a stupid and retarted approch, especially when IF they can provide the kid or teen a confortable home, a good school to attend and possibly make it in society instead of being in a foster home and or shelter for most of their childhood life and not having a childhood its a bum deal. The Government and other agencys bitch about how many kids and teens are in shelters or need adopted yet they do have people who want to adopt and dont care if the kid is a diffrent race or culture they might just be a Gay or Lesbian Couple who wants to adopt them, not really a big issue. IF you personally were in a group home or shelter would it really bother you to go to a nice home and environment and be in a normal society and be able to live a real life? If it was me and if i was a kid or teen i would not care who the adopted parents were i would just want to get out of a shelter or government ran environment its like Jail for kids or teens. I have seen some of these group homes and i must admit it makes me sad since they got say 5 beds in 1 bedroom possibly 3 dressers not really any privacy and or nothing its very sad.

The War In Iraq and Other Countries

No telling how many other countries the united states has their hands dipped into and is low profile about it but as for the war on iraq i belive that should be a done deal, the people over there have been fighting for centuries and also as well it will never end and with us being there its only making a sore issue alot more painfull since its not our country and we dont really have any business being over there. Sure when Bush first went to Iraq and said we are going to find Weapons of Mass Destruction everyone was Gun Ho since the 911 attacks had just happend so everyone wanted to go to war and go stomp boots on some iraqies, however now that we have sufficiently made parking for other countries by blowing everything up and removing all sorts of buildings, people and landscaping i belive we should just let the iraqie government handle their own problems and possibly they might be able to get thru it some day.

HIV & Aids and other STD's

This is not a situation that is directed to 1 gender, race or lifestyle this is a global issue, it bugs me sometimes that people think that Oww that person is gay they must be dying soon of aids or some other sexually transmitted disease.. Yall need to wake up. Lets see here from what i hear this person from africa had sex with a monkey came to the states had sex with both a guy and a girl, transmitted the disease and it exploded from there, i think they were both prostitutes so thats why it spred so dramatically. There is many diffrent ways you can get that situation, Needle Sharing, un-protected sex, blood transfers, fluid transfers (if you have a open cut), Some people have gotten hiv and aids due to blood transfusions where the blood was not screened or tested before it was issued to the person who needed it and well they survived from one issue just to be diagnosed with another issue, some people shared needles with someone who was infected either a male or female and they had got into contact with the disease due to blood contact transfer, some people got it thru un protected sex. The odd thing about aids and std's are back a long time ago it was called the "skinny" disease it was very abundant in the gay and lesbian community so the social standards just marked it as a Gay or Lesbian Disease and that was pretty much it.

However if it was just a gay and lesbian thing how is it all the straight people have it as well? IF someone did not have sex with someone who was infected by it? Good question, Human nature is hell when it comes to sex and well If a person is lacking in that department they will have sex with the other gender to fullfill a need in their life. So its not just a gay and lesbian situation its a global situation where people just need to be more aware and take procaution on who they do business with and or share drugs with. Or make sure the blood you are getting from hospitals have been tested and or screened before you get it.

Internet and Home Privacy

Well i really dont know how to approch this subject since there is alot of things going on with this subject and it sorta bug's me and sort of does not bug me, since i dont have anything to hide. However when it comes to internet privacy you know the government, ISP Providers and other agencys can actually jump into your internet connection and grab "packets" and see what you are doing on the internet, Yup thats right so say you are downloading some mp3s or movies off the net well the agencys who help the government track down certain headaches can track what you are doing at anytime, They use the whole patriot act or some other act to make it legal however its just a form of privacy breach. However when it comes to Preditors and other things on the internet i feel its great they have this thing available so they can lock into their computer and see what they are doing but as for normal people who are not doing anything wrong and or have any type of record i belive this thing should not even be around. The ISP's are required to give certain law enforcement departments a record of all packet transmissions and ip address(s) and user information every month i feel thats a issue as well.

Music and legal downloading and RIAA & Record Labels (My Special Point of View)

Back in the early 1990's the internet was just popping off and Dialup was just getting introduced to high speed (Yuppie), well all these websites came out for mp3 downloading and file downloading i felt that was a great concept since people from around the world could exchange music and files, something where you can send a photo of chicago and someone can send a photo of spain or whatever your pleasure was. As for the Music Scene that was also Awsome since people could trade and zap music back and fourth from talent they might not have ever heard before. Now i do understand that the RIAA was mostly attacking local colleges and major computer servers that held 100's or even 1000's of mp3s and files, yes i can see them shutting the systems down but as for putting Lawsuits against college kids and teenagers and some adults for hundreds or even thousands of dollars i belive that was a bogus deal.

Especially when alot of that music was first cycled out either by the Recording Studio or Label as a Promo Song to cycle it to the Club Djs and other people who drop songs and or mixes to get the talent some exposure and or build a Buzz. So the Producer sends out the mp3 to the Record Pools, The Record Pools send out the Music to the DJ's the DJ's sends out the mp3 to the Promoters the Promoters send the mp3 out to the people who are tastemakers and other affilates and the list goes on and on then it cycles down thru consumers who find the song either thru a contact or a friend who got the mp3 to start with and then they send it off to their friends and so fourth and so fourth. So now you got a song that is pretty much on every machine thats getting zapped out daily and so pretty much that song is done.

The Talent they make money on people attending shows and events, selling some cds and also as well company or corporate sponsors. However the Record Labels wanted a chunk out of this whole deal since they pay the Talent a "budget" and well the talent has to use that "budget" to fund their shows, events, radio or tv advertisements, cd covers, graphic's, websites, and a bunch of other things and the Artist technically the money the record label gives them is not theres technically it all has to be paid back in some aspect so who is really winning in the long run? Sure you see the artists with the fancy cars, jewelry and bling but thats a front they have to its a social standard where its expected of them. They might have a contract for the rest of their lives but its apart of the industry.

So my final thoughts on this subject i belive alot of music should be free it was technically free when they sent it out to promoters, record pools, tastemakers and other people to build or gain buzz or some type of publicity for that artist now i also do belive the talent should make money as well and the record labels and other agencys should not dip their hands in too far since technically the talent has made you rich in alot of aspects, sure you got him famous however he still made you rich since without that song or track you would not have anything. Also alot of record labels require the talent to have so much sales, buzz and other things even before they are signed so its sorta a double jepardy sure they will sign you and then once you have that contract your pretty much screwed so to speak.

The definition of Hip Hop has always been a political one: at the heart of democracy lies the aorta of free speech. Be it George Orwell, V.I. Lenin, Karl Marx, or Donald Oliver Soper shooting the gift (of gab) in London at Speaker's Corner of Hyde Park, or KRS-One and Chuck D voicing their opposition to Reaganomics and a Dickensian New York in the late '80s, or Jay-Z, Puff, and Kanye describing theirBrave Rich World from Gulfstream-V windows 40,000 feet above Monaco in rhythmic iambic pentameter, Hip Hop is the vox of the common man speaking to power.

FDR was Hip Hop: "There is nothing to fear but fear itself."

MLK was Hip Hop: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

JFK was Hip Hop: "And so my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country."

RWR was Hip Hop: "The past few days when I've been at that window upstairs, I've thought a bit of the "shining city upon a hill"....And how stands the city on this winter night? More prosperous, more secure, and happier than it was eight years ago."

Bill Clinton is Hip Hop, too, but George Walker Bush embodies the flatline of Gangsta Rap: "Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised...Saddam Hussein and his sons must leave Iraq within 48 hours. Their refusal to do so will result in military conflict, commenced at a time of our choosing."

Barack Obama is the greatest MC of all time. The DNC's Master of Ceremony's skills of Moving the Crowd have never been more evident than on the night of August 28th, 2008 in Denver's Invesco Stadium. It was the night Barack Obama fulfilled Martin Luther King's dream, and accepted the Democratic National Party's nomination for President. I wonder what went through his mind before he took the stage that night. Was it Jigga, as Obama mentally scrolled through his list of detractors in the media and politics, who tried to clown him by deifying him?: "I never claimed to have wings on/I get my/by any means on/when there's a drought/get your umbrellas out/that's when I brainstorm."

Maybe it was Rakim in the earbuds of Obama's iPod: "I'm not a regular competitor/ first rhyme editor/ Melody arranger, poet, etcetera/ Extra events, the grand finale like bonus/I am the man they call the microphonist."

Or maybe it was just Barack Obama being Barack Obama on this most historic night, transforming rap into epos: "We cannot turn back. America, we cannot turn back. Not with so much work to be done. Not with so many children to educate. And so many veterans to care for. Not with an economy to fix. And cities to rebuild, and farms to save. Not with so many families to protect, and so many lives to mend. America we cannot turn back. We cannot walk alone...in America, our destiny is inextricably linked."

I don't know if John McCain is Hip Hop. I don't know if he or the Republican Party understands that it is the culture of Hip Hop that has directly -- and indirectly -- fueled the youth movement behind Barack Obama. Many have made this connection between Obama and Hip Hop, including the great New York Times columnist, Maureen Dowd, to a young Baltimore, Md. journalist by the name of Timothy Cooper.

Even Robin Williams said on Letterman a few weeks ago:

Obama running is wonderful. It's-initially it was very interesting with people being kind of afraid of going, 'You know, he's a very eloquent black man'. And some folks in Conneticut going, 'Well, he's a tan Kennedy'. But...what was their fear, though? Are they afraid that this very eloquent man will be elected President, and all of a sudden he takes the oath of office and goes, 'Yo what's up?!! (Williams grabbing his crotch in the b-boy style) Yo-yo-yo! Yo gonna keep it real! I'ma bring it home right now, no more of that Urkel stuff! I wanna introduce some members of my cabinet: this is Lil' Ray-Ray, Skinny G, Colin Powell, because he's bad! Keepin' it real!

The Gen-Y'ers have truly made the connection between Barack Obama and Hip Hop. They are his advance team on Facebook, My Space, and Friendster, an army of Millennials that has assisted the Obama campaign in raising hundreds of millions of dollars online. For this new paradigm--young white kids (and Asian, Latino, African-American, and multi-racial kids, too)--the culture of Hip Hop allowed them to embrace a black man without fear, suspicion, or loathing. These same Gen-Y'ers will go to a Jay-Z concert and know all the words to "Regrets" or "Lost Ones." Michael Phelps motored Beijing's Olympic blue cube -- stoked by the fires of Lil' Wayne lyrics playing in his head -- en route to a record eight gold medals. These same Millennials are also educating their parents around the breakfast and dinner table, letting them know that the Baby Boomer version of the American Dream, the Woodstock, flower power, peace, love, and Haight-Ashbury, has grown up in Eminem's 8 Mile of Detroit, Snoop Dogg's Long Beach, and Common's South Side of Chicago. Their world may not be a ghetto, but the Millennials have broadbanded it into their very own 3-G global 'hood. Which, incidentally, is Obama's hood, too.

So I don't know if John McCain is Hip Hop. Last week, with McCain and Sarah Palin -- the Charli Baltimore of the G.O.P. -- and their operatives flashing the political gang signs to their conservative base ("Terrorist", "Ayers", "Who is the real Barack Obama"?), The Straight Talk Express derailed into lyrics of David Bowie's "Candidate": "I'll make you a deal, like any other candidate/we'll pretend we're walking home 'cause your future's at stake...I'm having so much fun with the poisonous people/ spreading rumours and lies and stories they made up."

John McCain may be more Rock and Roll than Hip Hop, which --along with R&B-- was the Hip Hop of the '60s and '70s. The raison d'etre of John McCain seems to trapped between a pair of Bowie bookends: The Man Who Fell To Earth who joins forces with The Man Who Sold The World. No matter how much distance this heroic fighter pilot and former POW tries to put between George W. Bush -- who is on an unswerving, abominable path towards presiding over the most calamitous administration in American history -- McCain cannot escape the connection nor the facts. Wall Street continues to collapse. The ranks of the unemployed swell to hundreds of thousands every month. The war in Iraq, Afghanistan, and an increasingly unstable Pakistan seem to have no end in sight. Those are the facts, and so is this: life as we know it in this country is slowly rotting away. And that's not Hip Hop. That's the discord of an apocalypse. And -- quite possibly -- as Sen. John S. McCain may find out at the end of the last and final debate with Barack Obama on Wednesday at Hofstra University, his campaign's swan song.

Ella Fitzgerald & Marilyn Monroe, in 1955 (above) and in 1962, (below), the year Marilyn Monroe passed away. In 1955, when racism was still a big issue in the United States of America, Ella Fitzgerald became the first African-American to perform at the Mocambo, after Marilyn Monroe had lobbied the owner for the booking. The booking was instrumental in Fitzgerald's career. Marilyn would promise the owner that she would appear every night (and be on time), and this way also fill the house--and she did, she was there every night, and she filled the house and: she was always on time! Their close friendship lasted for many years and Ella would sing Marilyn Monroe's famous 'My Heart Belongs To Daddy'in honor of her wonderful friend Marilyn Monroe, who died almost 34 years before she passed on in 1996, at age 79.

Getting Senator Obama into the White House is not the end of a process; it’s the beginning of a process. Keeping him in the White House will be the hard part. Prudence dictates that we should never underestimate the will of the forces which are arrayed against him/us.

About supporting Obama — the speeches are inspiring, his values are grounded, and the policies sound reasonable. But one of the biggest reasons I’m supporting Obama has to do with the idea that “change comes to Washington, not from Washington”.

In the wave of this massive grassroots-generated support and passion for Obama, I’ve come to realize how we can make our voices heard. I’ve also realized how much the characteristics of grassroots initiatives are reflected in my own work in conducting outreach — in taking my guitar and my music into churches, hospitals, libraries, and other community venues.

In 2005, Eliot Fisk and I founded the Boston Guitar Project, hoping to bring our music into the community and to share the privilege of being a musician with new audiences. Joined by guitar students at New England Conservatory, we began spreading our music all over Greater Boston, from churches in Cambridge, to Latino community centers in the South End, to Jewish retirement centers in Roslindale. In the process, we unknowingly began to change public perception and conception about the guitar.

Without intention, Boston Guitar Project reflected the values of grassroots movements–a core group of dedicated minds, working together for a greater cause, and in the process, discovering a greater sense of meaning and worth within our community. I see this value embedded within Obama’s campaign, and that’s just another reason why I support Obama. I believe that in the same way a group of guitarists were able to get together and warm some hearts, a new wave of young and mature voters will be able to join Obama and Biden in bringing the change we need to Washington.

PS. During the Republican Convention, Rudy Giuliani took special care to ridicule and mock Obama’s work as a “community organizer”. As former Mayor of NYC, where there must be tons of grassroots activity and community organizing, he must understand the value of community work. (What else would you call the community response to 9-11?) In the past few weeks, McCain and Palin have also taken their shots as well. So, either the three of them are just hypocrites, playing into the distasteful and dispicable narrative that politicians have dug for themselves, or they simply “don’t get it”. Or they’re all of the above — clueless, distasteful, hypocritical politicians. Whatever the case may be, these attacks, and the mentalities that allow them, represent an insincere and disingenuous attitude towards ordinary citizens that can not possibly serve our country well.

Rallies and Rhetoric: Meanwhile, what have McCain and his running mate been doing? Attacking the Senator from Illinois in ways that have even Republican Congress members and former supporters such as Frank Schaeffer urging them to desist. Thankfully, our candidate is sure to do no such things with his half-hour major network ad buys. Our donations will be put to good and honorable use!

In the best selling book CONVERSATONS WITH GOD, God said to the author, Neale Donald Walsch, something like this: “The world is full of sleep-walkers….to get people to wake up you sometimes have to shake them.” Been there; done that.

Obama has said that he can’t do it alone. He said, “I need your help.” We are all trying to help. But, far too often, my words tend to frighten the sleep-walkers who refuse to wake up. They obviously love the pain, the drama and the not knowing. The truth is hard to swallow.

I support Senator Obama 100%. The only difference between others and me is that I know this and they do not. When faced with new ideas, some engage the issues and others elect to run and hide. To keep FEAR out of the equation it is best to engage issues.

Most people tend to participate in politics unconsciously. They do this because it is easier to let others decide for them -- the experts, the pundits, the negative TV ads and things of this nature. When it comes to politics, most of us don’t even know what we are doing.

Addressing all humans, God said to Neale, “Go ahead. Act on all that you know. But notice that you have been doing this since time began and look at what shape the world is in. Clearly you’ve missed something.” Those who love their pain have not missed a thing.

Most of us have no idea of what we are going to have to deal with after the election is over. What is the famous quote? “Know thine enemy.” (Shakespeare, I think) Even Barack Obama has no idea. He is but a man and therefore subject to the laws of the universe.

Barack Obama has said many, many times, “It’s not about me; it’s about you. This is the other thing that most of us simply will not hear. It’s not about the man; it’s about what the man/movement represents. It’s about the message not the messenger.

I predict that Senator Obama has already won the election. Getting Obama into the White House will be the easy part. However, keeping him there, now that will be the hard part. We should never underestimate the will of the forces which are arrayed against him/us.

Gandhi said that they cannot take away my dignity unless I give it to them. Let Joe Biden, the Obama Team members and the surrogates respond to her attacks. John McCain and Sarah Palin seem to be stuck on two themes: “The Surge” and “Change is Coming.” It is clear that John McCain hi-jacked the “Change” concept from Barack Obama. In my blog MCCAIN’S MISTAKES, I touched upon the inherent fallacies pertaining to the so called "Surge." Apparently, John McCain actually believes that he can support Bush’s lies, tricks and games and continue duping voters with impunity. Some have asked how is this even possible. I do not know. Nonetheless, he’s a viable Presidential Candidate. The question is what’s wrong with this picture?

I am told that Plato said: “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.” Almost right. I believe that Plato is telling us that this is the penalty that one pays for participating in an Aristotelian based political thought system -- better known as Democracy.”

During the debate, Senator Obama implied that Russia and China are not true Democracies. If not, the question becomes what are they? I do not know. Perhaps we should take a closer look at Premier Wen Jiabao’s China -- with a population of 1.3 billion people. Apparently, Premier Jiabao has elected to take his country in a different direction.

In doing so, he will inevitably change the course of history and there is nothing that we Americans can do about it. If we can’t change the ultimate outcome, what can we do in the interim? We can help Senator Obama win the election. Then we might have a chance to get it right. As JFK said, “We all breathe the same air and we all cherish our children’s future.”

The political thought system that we call Democracy was born in Greece around 500 B.C. It is based on Aristotle’s political philosophy as outlined in his book POLITICS. Incidentally, in Aristotle’s POLITICS he ranked women one notch above slaves. Hence, women can thank Aristotle for creating the equal work/equal pay issue.

The 21st Century has given rise to a different kind of political thought system, a Chinese version of Democracy. It parallels Plato’s political philosophy as outlined in his book THE REPUBLIC. What is the penalty for participating in a non-Aristotelian based political thought system, the kind that Plato talks about in his book? Plato suggests that it’s being governed by a superior mind.

Am I saying that this is a good thing or a bad thing? Neither. I am making no value judgments at all. Good and bad are relative terms, subjective terms. I am simply stating facts and telling it like it is. However, I will say this: Since it is clear that we Americans seems to enjoy being governed by our inferiors, all that we have to do now is vote for more of the same -- John McCain.

Obama has to say about increased food safety. Here's a bit from his position paper on rural issues: "Improve Food Safety: The USDA and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) need more authority to issue and enforce recalls for contaminated food. Barack Obama supports efforts to improve federal food safety surveillance to better improve our ability to identify, contain, and prevent outbreaks. He is committed to expanding resources to inform the public when an outbreak happens so that they can make good decisions about food safety." In July of this year - well before these latest incidents - Sen. Obama also introduced S. 3358, the Improving Food-borne Illness Surveillance and Response Act of 2008.

OBAMA: A Leader You Can Trust To Work For You

Michelle Obama will be in Kansas City, MO this afternoon in the Historic 18th and Vine District. This is near Alvin Ailey II and Lincoln College Preparatory Academy (LCPA).

LCPA is a public school that was recently designated as a Gold Star and Blue Ribbon School. Students at Lincoln come from across the city with strong GPAs and high test scores. LCPA students represent diverse cultures and backgrounds and reflect the best of what hard work of dedicated students, involved parents and good teachers can achieve even when resources are stretched to the limit.

This morning in Wisconsin and over the past weeks across the country, Senator Obama has been talking with voters about specific steps he will take to stand up for all Americans if elected President. One of the things he has mentioned is support for Arts in the Schools.

Lincoln College Prepatory Academy has one of the best music programs in the region. The Lincoln Prep Wind Ensemble was recently invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. The LCPA performance will take place in NYC in April 2009. This trip will cost around $80,000 in a district that operates on a tight budget, where families struggle and where "A Leader You Can Trust" is crucial for survival.

True education involves excellence in math and science, strong reading and writing skills and an appreciation of the arts. Music education, for example, improves student performance in other subject areas. It develops discipline and generates appreciation for creativity and diversity.

The opportunity to make the trip requires a lot of fundraising by the LCPA Band Boosters, support from the school district, parents, and potential corporate sponsors. Increased support for public education must be a priority of the next President. Barack Obama understands this. Many of the students on their way to Carnegie Hall from LCPA would never have had a music lesson without a music program in their public school. Senator Obama will be a strong advocate for arts in the schools. Increased cooperation among parents, teachers, business, education and government will happen in an Obama administration.

Let’s assume for a moment that “The Surge” did work. This gives rise to the next logical question, but at what initial cost? If a person spills milk on the floor and then wipes it up, that person corrected a mistake. The problem here is that we are not talking about spilled milk. We are talking about spilled American blood and lost American lives and treasure.

Should the erratic McCain hit the "Panic Button" intentionally or un-intentionally we are all just as dead. (1) How do we bring back over 4,000 lives or make the injuries of the 30,000 plus soldiers disappear? (2) How do we get back the 10 billion plus missing tax dollars that disappeared in Iraq? (3) How do we recover the 600-700 billion dollars that we have already spent in Iraq?

We make mistakes because this is what human beings do best. Am I saying that all human beings are by nature flawed? No. I am saying that most human minds are by nature flawed. So what do we do now, get a lobotomy? No. We learn how to think correctly. Most of us probably think that we already know how to think correctly. No problem.

Then we should go ahead and act on all that we know. But notice that we have been doing this since time began and look at what shape the world is in. Clearly, we’ve missed something.

DEMOCRACY & BROKEN MINDS

Shortly, about 10% of the American electorate will decide who will become the next U.S. President. These people will play a major role in deciding the fate and destiny of the entire Planet. America assumes that it is the world’s undisputed military super-power, the world’s leading economic power and that it has the best type of government period -- Democracy.

Now let’s separate fact from fiction and the de jure from the de facto. Is America really the only military super-power in the world? I do not know. The Russians still have enough nuclear warheads on their Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles to make this a moot point. Secondly, the Chinese are destined to become the leading economic power in the World. It’s inevitable.

But let’s get to the heart of the matter, Democracy. So who are these people, the 10% of the American electorate? What kind of minds do they have? I do not know. Let’s not ask them about the Bush Doctrine. We could ask them a simple question like where is Alaska situated. To the best of my knowledge, we are not necessarily talking about America’s intellectually elite.

We are talking about the so called undecided voters. If I understand the demographic parameters correctly, this 10% represents the least educated white working classes, blue collar men and women -- and probably predominantly white women. Would these people be inclined to vote for a black Harvard educated law school professor with a funny name?

The Planet is in Peril and America is in demise. It is no longer about America. Ethnocentrism died with the introduction of the Information Super Highway and Globalization. Today, it is about the Planet, of which roughly 75% of the world’s population is for Obama -- 10% verses 75%. What am I missing? Logic suggests that there is something wrong with this picture?

There is a saying: “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” What do we do if it is broken? We fix it. How do we fix a broken Democracy? That’s easy. We don’t tear down the whole house. We replace one brick (one legislator) at a time. So once we fix the broken government and get rid of the liars, what do we do next? We fix the broken minds that put the liars in office.

New thought is our only chance.

MELTDOWN: OBAMA’S CONGENITAL DEFECT

Give Obama a break. Senator Obama has delayed responding to the so called Wall Street Meltdown and/or the Economic Crisis, probably because it is only prudent and proper to get the facts straight prior to jumping to false conclusions. As always, Barack Obama seeks to get it right the first time. He does this because he suffers from a congenital disorder that causes him think before he acts. This psychological affliction -- that could also be in the genes -- causes him to engage his brain before engaging his mouth.

John F. Kennedy also suffered from this kind of malady. During the Cuban Missile Crisis virtually all of his generals urged him to take swift, strong and decisive military action. At the end of the meeting that could have started WW III, the generals left the room and they all immediately looked at each other in absolute astonishment. One of them said, “What in the hell happened in there?” To their amazement, JFK did not make a decision. Instead, he remained focused on the objective. His objective was to save the country and the world. Does this sound familiar; does it resonate?

Now let’s examine John McCain’s intellect, or lack thereof. Responding to the Meltdown Crisis, at first he said that we should not bail out the banking institutions. He then flip-flopped on this issue and on many other issues. He obviously subscribes to the: “Act first and think later philosophy.” You know, the kind of thinking that could get us all killed. When it comes to the nuclear “Hot Button” one does not get a second chance to correct mistakes or set up a commission to study why we are all dead.

What about Sarah Palin? The Planet is in peril and she believes that Global Warming is a fantasy and that we should continue raping the environment. With respect to the position that she has already taken on these issues, clearly she is not opposed to killing people slowly. If she enjoys killing wolves, bears and God knows what other forms of wild life from helicopters, just think about what she could do with a B-2 Bomber. Who said that Americans are not suicidal? Are we talking about all Americans or roughly half of them? I don’t know. Has Obama killed any innocent life forms for fun lately?

So what do we do now? We tell the American people, specifically those who claim to be undecided, that now, it is all in their hands. To increase humanity’s chances of surviving the insanity that Bush has created, it would be in our interest if the next American President possessed a superior mind. God knows that he will need one in order to successfully navigate through the treacherous, muddy waters (the cesspool) that he will inherit from the Bush Administration. In short, just hold your nose and vote for the smart black guy from Harvard. You might live longer.

The Bailout (now UPDATED with random music news)

While McCain immediately and erroneously said that he'd fire the head of the SEC (erroneously because the President isn't allowed to do that - though I also think it's not a solution or even the most effective symbolic gesture), Obama waited and consulted and planned before releasing a few commonsensical additions to any bailout and asking us to support them. To summarize:

No golden parachutes
Main Street - not just Wall Street
Bipartisan oversight

Here's an excellent summary of the various bailout drafts (OpenCongress.org) - Paulson's proposal, Sen. Dodd's counter, and the various other plans emerging. The public are also encouraged to comment on the main two versions via PublicMarkup.org. A Daily Kos diarist also provided solid analysis of the Paulson proposal here, calling attention in particular to the "huge swath of power" accorded to the Treasury secretary, the complete lack of Congressional oversight and the lack of accountability to any court or administrative agency.

PLANET IN PERIL – FUTURE IN JEOPARDY

Now that we have the law makers where we want them, all that we have to do now is order them to do exactly what we tell them to do, or else. We should tell them to return all of the bribes that they have taken from special interests groups. We should tell them that from this point on, they work for us, as the authors of the United States Constitution intended. If they fail to follow our orders, we simply kick the bums out.

Do we replace them with another Republican or Democrat? No. We replace them with a humanist. A humanist is a decent, moral human being who may or may not be affiliated with a political party. What guidelines should we use? Definitely not religious guidelines. He or she should be, in nature, as much like M.K. Gandhi as possible. Words like Republicans or Democrats are just that, words/labels that have no real meaning. On the other hand, Republicans and Democrats are the creators of the reality that we are now experiencing -- A Planet that is in Peril and a future that is in jeopardy.

They are the guilty ones. To be fair we are all guilty, or slightly masochistic, because we helped them abuse us. So what do we do now? We point put our index finger between our eyes and accept responsibility for being less than smart. Think of it as going to confession. Everyone runs around crying and complaining and going through the motions and nothing changes. Nothing will change until we stop the lies, tricks and games. We can stop this now.

Obama is the man. He tells us that he wants to change things. We are just going to have to trust him because, at the moment, there is no other viable alternative. Some people have told me that they are willing to give their lives for this man. Not me. However, I am willing to give my life for what I believe that this man represents. He tells us that he wants to change things. Me too. I want to save a Planet that is in Peril and a future that is in jeopardy -- and humankind while I am at it.

The truth is the most valuable virtue that we have but "TRUTH" is dead. “Oh what a deadly web we weave when we practice to deceive.” (Shakespeare, I think?) Some people have told me that I am not going to win any friends talking like this. Demented minds are destroying our country, our world and our children’s future. With friends like these, who needs enemies? That’s just my opinion. Mohandas K. Gandhi said, “If you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.”

NON-COOPERATION WITH EVIL IS A MORAL DUTY

Long after getting the leaders of their sleeper cell (Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld) into the White House, the Republicans are continuing with their feeding frenzy. Using fear as a weapon, they have been able to exploit the weaknesses in the minds of many Americans -- call it the supreme mind f - - k, if you will. The undeniable fact is that George W. Bush and his followers, like John McCain, are directly responsible for the senseless loss of tens of thousands of lives in Iraq.

Using fear as a weapon, they have so far been successful convincing those of us with weak minds, or no brains, that Global Warming is an illusion and that it would be in our mutual interest to drill offshore and further exploit the environment. They have been busy murdering our soldiers, destroying our minds and raping the environment. Now they want economic Carte Blanche to exploit our pocket books and finish destroying America. To date, they are on the verge of doing just that -- accomplishing their mission.

So what do you call a political philosophy that gives rise to such insanity? Would it be unfair to call it pure, unadulterated Evil? Mohandas K. Gandhi said, “Non-cooperation with evil is a moral duty.” Since moving into the White House, George W. Bush and company have been killing, raping, exploiting and plundering with impunity. John McCain cooperated with, and voted with, George W. Bush nearly 95% of the time. This is not guilt by association. This is guilt by deed; it’s manifesting evil.

Both Gandhi and Martin Luther King preached a philosophy of non-cooperation with Evil. So, do we reach out to the other side of the aisle, to the Republicans and cooperate with them? No. Barack Obama and the other politicians have to play this game but we do not. What do we do? It’s simple. We replace the extremist legislators with humanistic legislators. It is more efficient. This way we do not have to reach across the aisle.

How do we accomplish this? First, we start educating the so called “undecided” voters, in the trenches of the "Battle Ground" states. They are not undecided they are just confused. Our job is to un-confuse them. We have six weeks.

I'm a singer songwriter from Seattle and I just uploaded a video to Youtube that I think is relevant in these final weeks up to the election. My song "Yes We Can," cowritten with Hans York (also Seattle resident), was uploaded today'.

The song is about Americans making change by paying attention, "staying engaged" and getting involved.

The video was filmed and coproduced by Stephen Sherrard. The music was also recorded at Stephen's studio in Issaquah. It features most of the musicians (everyone except bass player, Jon Hamer, because we forgot to move the chair between Jon and the camera when we were filming) including drummer, Ben Smith, who is currently out on tour with Heart, Dan Tyack on pedal steel, Greg Fulton on electric guitar and Hans York on acoustic.

A great way to show your support

I'm not much of a blogger so I haven't before now. Kind of late in the game.

What I want to tell everyone about is the great music collection I bought here at the Obama store. It is called "Yes We Can" voices of a grassroots movement. Music Get-Together?

What can we do to encourage the whole, big wonderful population of Seniors to get involved and vote for Obama? How about a music get-together fund raiser? Are you a singer or musician that would like to join in? Would you like to compose a few Obama lyrics to a well-known tune? I can find a clarinet, piano, drum and bass for starters.

OBAMA AND WORLD OPINION

In the eyes of the World Barack Obama has already won the election -- hands down. Actually, this statement is axiomatic in nature. It is not necessarily a truism. I have heard that roughly 70% to 80% of the global population would like to see Obama win the election. If this statement is deemed to be reasonably true, then why isn’t Obama further ahead in the polls?

Is racism playing a role here? Are we Americans inflicted with some type of unknown psychological genetic disorder? Are we inherently less intelligent than the global population in general? Are we masochistic and delusional in nature? Bill Clinton and the Democrats gave us prosperity and a balanced budget -- including a surplus. Do we want more of the same? No.

We Americans love our pain. We love the drama. We love the not knowing. That’s why we are here, doing exactly the same thing that we did when both Al Gore and John Kerry ran for President. Since it is clear that we love and need our pain, does this mean that we are stupid? No. It simply means that 70% to 80% of the global population for Obama is not masochistic.

NEW ISSUE: TRUST

John McCain has been trying to hijack Barack Obama’s Change concept and he may have succeeded. In addition, he has stolen, and is now using, Obama’s phrase “Enough is enough.” Logic suggests that he is having difficulty formulating an independent thought or concept. Who knows, if we give him enough rope he may just hang himself.

Perhaps it is time to throw the Republicans a curved ball. It is slowing becoming common knowledge that they use lies, tricks and games to win elections. If true, the thinking mind begs to know what does one do with a public servant/government official who violates the public trust; i.e., who lies? Do we reward him or her and put them in higher office? Yes, twice.

It is time to introduce a new issue into the mix -- TRUST. It would be wise to do this now because John McCain needs more rope. TRUST is the most important issue of all and no one even talks about it. In such a volatile political climate -- one in which incorrect thinking dominates -- TRUST is not only an issue, it is perhaps THE issue.

UNBRIDLED GREED

Today John McCain said, “We’re gonna put a stop to it.” It’s not about unbridled greed. It’s about unbridled insanity. Albert E. Einstein put it magnificently when he said that there are two things that are endless, human stupidity and the Universe. Whereby, I am not so sure about the latter. Now, McCain wants to put a stop to precisely that which he helped create. In other words, he wants to fix the barn door after the horses have already left.

But let’s get to the heart of the matter. Is it about greed or insanity? I do not know. What I do know is that, for all practical purposes, Einstein implied that humans are inherently stupid. Voting for John McCain and his “Reality Show” running mate would be like voting for Jim Jones -- nothing less than suicidal. The lies, tricks and games must end here, now. After the elections are over, we will know if American voters qualify as an exception to Einstein's rule.
