The first case of influenza A/H1N1, also known as porcine influenza, recorded on Saturday 30 May in Cyprus.

"The first new case of influenza confirmed in Cyprus", - said the head of the Ministry of Health of Cyprus Christos Patsalides.

In Somalia, has started large-scale operation by government troops against the radical Islamists.

The Army is trying to win back from them a number of areas of Mogadishu. In today's fighting killed at least seven people, including local radio journalist.

Note, for the last 10 days of fighting killed more than 100 people. At the same time about 34 thousand civilians were forced to flee their homes. The army has lost control of the third city and so far unsuccessful attempts to return to the recent position.

As reported, 17 May jihadists groups Shabaab captured a major town of Jowhar, leading to the capital of Somalia. Members of the factions do not recognize the government of President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who was elected to that post in January.

* The conservative agenda ~ or lack thereof – Today a Washington Post article was titled, “Gay-Marriage Issue Awaits Court Pick, Same-Sex Unions Supplant Abortion As Social Priority for Conservatives.” Despite no evidence that same-sex marriage has a negative influence on the institution of marriage or the fabric of our society the conservative movement has hitched their Trojan horses to this empty wagon. Imagine the benefits to the American people if the full force of the conservative movement, be they social or anti-social conservatives, actually advocated for meaningful issues that include:

~ Affordable, quality healthcare for all citizens (as is the case in most industrialized nations)

~ Energy and environmental policies that protect the air and water essential to human existence and the food supply to sustain that existence

~ Responsible inspection of imported and domestic food and products

~ Workers rights that assure fair wages and reasonable and safe working conditions

~ Limitations on interest rates that have now reached levels that qualify as usury and were at one time outlawed in America

~ Public financing of elections so that special interests do not override the real interests of the people

Perhaps God should be recruited to the policy-setting committee for the conservative agenda. Rumor has it that She cares about the actual well-being of people.

* Romancing a Sheep – Religious-right leader Pat Robertson says, “The ‘ultimate conclusion’ of legalizing same-sex marriage would be the legalization of polygamy, bestiality, child molestation and pedophilia.” As the religious-right apprehensively watches its relevancy wane, its inflammatory rhetoric increases in intensity and absurdity. Appropriate responses to such nonsense would be “Nah” and “Baa.”

* Ignorance is bliss ~ or, just ignorant – John McCain has returned to the Sunday talk show punditocracy. These days he is weighing in on the military’s policy of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT). If one is in the armed forces and is gay, just don’t admit to it and you are permitted to face a Taliban sniper or the possibility that the family jewels will be blown off by an al Qaeda operative or Sunni insurgent. McCain says that the policy is working. A fair question would be, “What are the results of inserting one’s head in the sand on this issue?”

From ThinkProgress.org: Since 1994, DADT has resulted in the discharge of more than 13,000 military personnel across the services, including approximately 800 with skills deemed “mission critical,” such as pilots, combat engineers, and linguists. According to a 2005 report from the Government Accountability Office, “the cost of discharging and replacing service members fired because of their sexual orientation during the policy’s first 10 years totaled at least $190.5 million — roughly $20,000 per discharged service member.

With war on two fronts and a military extremely over-extended Senator McCain says that the system is working. At a time when the strategic goals in Iraq and Afghanistan critically require personnel with Arabic language capabilities many have been dismissed. At a time when many military personnel have received deployment to combat zones four and five times because of a shortage of trained soldiers, this has resulted in very high numbers of military personnel with stress disorders. McCain would have us believe the system is working. Appropriate responses to such nonsense would be “Nah” and “Baa.”

* Seeing the obvious ~ when it is right in front of you – “Census data from the Mexican government indicate an extraordinary decline in the number of Mexican immigrants going to the United States.” I guess one could say that the U.S. government’s effort to stem the flow of illegal immigrants across our borders is finally working. Nah and baa. “If jobs are available, people come,” said Jeffrey S. Passel, senior demographer at the Pew Hispanic Center, a nonpartisan research group in Washington. “If jobs are not available, people don’t come.” The recession is proving more effective in reducing illegal immigration than incompetent and malfeasant U.S. policy.

Something we have always known is that the attraction for people to enter our country illegally was the availability of jobs. Something we have known all along is that it is illegal to employ undocumented workers. Something we have known all along is that said law was not enforced. Why? One reasonable guess would be that politically influential farmers, food processors, manufacturers, builders, landscapers… convinced the powers that be to look the other way. There was too much profit to be relinquished if they could not use these immigrants who work for low wages, no benefits, no worker rights and protections. Now that the not-so-secret “secret” is out, how will this affect enforcement of existing law and the formulation of new laws going forward? The answer depends upon the balance of power in this country between the special interests and the interests of the American people.

Why politics must be discussed

I grew up in the midwest in a family in which politics was rarely discussed. Nebraska -- mother was from farm country near Sioux City, Iowa. Except for my father, who I think admired FDR for his efforts in alleviating the suffering of the great depression, most of the Nebraska farmers were confirmed Republicans. (Still are, it appears)

I voted that way, too, until the Vietnam war and some university friends pointed out the folly of my thinking. My last GOP vote was for Ike, and I don't much regret it -- he was fine president. Also, the Democratic party was dominated by a southern faction determined to keep Jim Crow in place -- that disgusted me.

My point is that it took a chance encounter at a party, and someone willing to break through the trivial party chatter to wake me up. That shouldn't be the case -- we need to reach across to others and discuss issues, and learn to do it in a dispassionate way. We surely can come together if we are willing to reconsider our own biasses, listen to others, and keep our focus on the common needs of all our citizens.

With Barack in office, I really can hope that a new era is dawning, in which we can discuss the real issues confronting our nation, and the state of California in particular. I'm concerned about many issues, and just can't decide on any particular priority -- Barack is right that liberal progress must proceed on many fronts at once. I'm pleased that he has the wisdom, intelligence and energy to keep on top of them all.

Tea and Torture on a Spring Day

* The prestidigitation of the political right – There was much ado about very little with last week’s tax day Tea-Bagging protests about taxes and an assortment of sometimes hate-filled accusations. Although it was billed as a populist movement of significant proportions it was neither populist nor populous.

The event was repeatedly promoted by FOX News. While some consider FOX News a news station what it has demonstrated over the last 10 years is that it is the public relations arm of the Republican Party. FOX silence was telling on the subject of federal spending during the years that Bush and Republicans blew through the Clinton budget surplus and proceeded to build huge deficits. Who were the other movers and shakers behind Tea-Bagging?

Americans for Prosperity – a right wing think tank funded by billionaire David Koch. Koch Industries was fined $35 million dollars in 2000 for oil spills resulting from eroded and broken pipelines. “During the 1990s, the firm's faulty pipelines were responsible for more than 300 oil spills in five states, prompting a penalty of $35 million. In 1996, a flawed pipeline caused an explosion outside of Dallas in which two teenagers were killed. In a lawsuit related to the deaths, a trial court returned a judgment of $376.69 million against the company. Now there is a populist face to put on your tea bag tag.

The Independence Institute – This very conservative think tank is funded by the Coors Foundation’s Castle Rock Foundation both of whom advocate for the wealthy interests and their privileged needs. Just because they supply beer to the masses does not mean they are interested in the masses beyond the purchase of the next six-pack.

FreedomWorks – An organization that supports and promotes the interests of lobbyist Dick Armey. Those interests include Bristol-Myers Squibb, the insurance industry, and oil interests. Armey opposes health reform that would cut into the profits of branded drugs, works for deregulated life insurance reform and supports the status quo reliance on fossil fuels. Not to go unnoticed, none of these issues are in the interests of the American people.

The funders of the Tea-Bagging movement are to populism what the Republican Party was to the religious right. It is the illusion of representing the interests of a broad segment of the citizenry while in fact representing the interests of a select few. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs had the appropriate response to the Tea-Bagging magical mystery tour. “The president, he stressed, had just recently passed a ‘tax cut that covers the most people in the history of this country’…The president promised significant tax relief for working families of this country, and in the first month of the administration delivered that to the American people.”

What are the facts concerning U.S. tax policy? A report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities: “Federal Tax Burdens for Most Near Their Lowest Levels in Decades” concludes: Overall Federal Tax Burdens Are Low by Historical Standards; Federal Individual Income Tax Burdens Have Fallen Significantly; and Tax Burdens Have Dropped Most Sharply for the Highest-Income Households. I would suggest that this is what the Tea-Bagging rallies were about. It involved the wealthiest of society protecting their privileged tax concessions which they manipulated through congress in recent decades. And the sly shysters at FOX carried their water. What is being touted as a grassroots movement is little more than an assroots movement ensconced in deception and illusion.

John Perr at Crooks and Liars compiled a list of 10 Republican Tax Day Lies. They are listed below and the link provides fuller explanations:

1. President Obama will raise taxes on small businesses.

2. The estate tax devastates small businesses and family farms.

3. 40% of Americans pay no taxes.

4. Tax cuts always increase revenue.

5. The GOP is the party of fiscal discipline.

6. Ronald Reagan was the greatest tax cutter of all time.

7. FDR caused the Great Depression, or at least made it worse.

8. Obama's cap-and-trade plan will cost each American family $3,100 a year.

9. Obama's tax proposals will undermine charitable giving.

10. The rich pay too much in taxes already.

* The Torture Memos –Obama’s release of Bush’s Justice Department torture memos showed courage and at the same time focused attention once again on some of the moral and legal issues these memos engender. It required courage to go against the national security community, some of his advisors and the bulk of the political right. These memos broke laws and their release exposes the shrewd but amoral reasoning used by the Bush appointees who concocted these “justifications.” And make no mistake! U.S. laws and international laws were broken, as pointed out by constitutional lawyer Glenn Greenwald at Salon.com. How many times in the last two decades have we heard conservatives lecture about the rule of law, at least until the law is an inconvenient truth? Our laws, including international treaties, exist apart from political party or political perspective. They exist regardless of issue or circumstance.

My ambiguity about the CIA interrogators empowered by these memos uncomfortably surfaced when Obama said that CIA operatives would not be prosecuted for committing torture. This is a difficult subject to embrace from either side. From one standpoint if one thought that they were following the law they should be free of prosecution. And yet, the Nuremburg trials concluded that this was not a satisfactory defense. This is not an attempt to equate the widespread inhuman acts of the Nazi regime against innocent and defenseless people to what occurred at Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and secret prison sites. It is a question of where one draws the line. It is my strong feeling that the line must not be subject to situational ethics. It is also a matter that these operatives were burdened with directives that stemmed from the Bush administration’s strained attempts to circumvent the law. It is interesting that when Obama said that CIA personnel involved in these interrogations would not be prosecuted there was no mention of a pass for the people that designed and authorized these programs. Perhaps there will be consequences but in either case we are at least addressing this difficult and challenging subject. Democracy and morality are not always easy and the fact that we question our actions in an open forum only adds gravitas to the proud claims we proclaim as a nation.

The Senate is expected to vote on Senator John McCain's alternative budget today, as well as a number of proposed amendments. These amendments, and these votes, are where a large portion of the budget battle will be fought. Senate GOP leaders have said that they will use the amendment process to try to alter the budget rather than presenting their own, comprehensive alternative. Yesterday the Senate defeated a proposed Republican amendment that would have enacted a spending freeze on all non-defense discretionary spending in 2010, a move that would deeply undercut the effects of the President's recent stimulus package. John McCain's suggested alternative would make deeps cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, while extending the Bush tax cuts for the rich.

If you haven't already done so, there is still time to call your representatives and let them know that you support the President's budget plan, and ask them to vote against any last minute amendments that would weaken it.

As OFA Director Mitch Stewart explained in a message to supporters recently, this budget represents an historic opportunity to create jobs, restore our economy, and invest in our future. We can't let this important moment slip away.

February 2009 and John McCain on the fundamentals of the economy

September 15, 2008: the date John McCain, while on the campaign trail in Jacksonville, Florida, declared “the fundamentals of our economy are strong”, providing the American public with direct evidence that he is disturbingly out of touch with the tenets of basic economics. Yet all forty Republican senators unflinchingly fell in line to support his anemic, ill-conceived alternative plan based on the failed strategies of the past. Apparently his 26 years in Washington left him without the perspective to understand that the policies he supports created the economic crisis of epic proportions we are experiencing. He still appears to be in the mindset of Phil Gramm, McCain’s former economic advisor who six months ago dismissed the economic distress signals that portended our current economic deflationary spiral as the baseless cries of “a nation of whiners”.

At $421 Billion, McCain’s plan was roughly half that of the Democrats' in scale. Rehashing the Republican mantra of tax cuts and military spending, the McCain plan was comprised mainly of cutting the bottom two income tax brackets and on lowering corporate income taxes. Its feeble spending provisions would have provided money to repair and replace military equipment worn out in Iraq and Afghanistan, and extended unemployment benefits. Thankfully, and due to the Democratic majority in the Senate, the alternative bill was defeated, 57 to 40, strictly upon party lines.

What can the Republicans be thinking? Doesn’t the fact that we have entered into this nightmarish catch-22 of a devastated economy as the result of eight years of laize faire, tax cutting, and military spending government policies? Doesn’t anybody remember the fiasco of McCain’s pick of Phil Gramm for economic advice, his self-admission of economic ineptitude, and his claims that the economy was sound even as we were tumbling into an economic crisis of breathtaking scale? Don’t any of these Senators and Congresspeople want to look beyond their wounded feelings of loss from the November election, or their perception of powerlessness, or whatever is driving their… robotic behavior, and actually open their minds to help the nation and the world?

From my perspective, we have done everything we can not to paint Republicans into a corner. We have allowed them to be part of the conversation with dignity and respect. I am determined that we not allow their intractable response (with the exceptions of Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania) to derail our hope of reforming the divisiveness and partisan bickering in Washington we have suffered for the last eight years. However, we obviously have a long way to go.

I am so proud of how President Obama has handled this difficult beginning to his administration.

The Steele Choice: Preparing for the Battle of 2012

The Republicans have made an incredibly potent maneuver in the choice
of Michael Steele to head the RNC. Placing a black Republican in such
a position of power and prominence in the wake of the Barack Obama
victory signals a return to politics after a brief excursion in the
lane of emotionalism and racial unity.

The Republicans are not fooled
by the overwhelming black support of the Barack victory, nor are they
willing to believe that the movement has reached its zenith just
because a black man has been elected president. This party is looking
beyond the ebony mirage to tap the resources of pleuralism within the
black community and the American public at large. The Steele move
seems to be aimed at diluting the accumulated energy of the African-
American constituency still caught up in the rush of the Obama
ascension.

Add to this timely move, the recent jabs thrown by the defeated John
McCain in regard to the upcoming Senate consideration of the bailout
bill. Senator McCain is positioning himself as the point man to take
the momentum away from Barack Obama and give the Republicans a voice
with which to stand against the rushing tide of Obamanism which seeks
to create a bipartisan unity in government. The potential losers in
this chess match are the victims of this ailing economy who must wait
for political horseplay to run its course before getting much needed
relief.

A decisive overturn of the Democratic majority in the mid-term
elections; a highly visible Black RNC chairman, and a Democratic Party
caught off guard in 2012 spells darkness for the Obama sunrise. As I
mentioned earlier, 2008 is not sufficient to establish the success of
Barack Obama as a black American president. Defeat in 2012 will erase
a lot of the meaning from the victory of 2008. Winning in 2012 is
more important than winning in 2008 in many ways.

The Repubilcans are on the move as should be obvious to anyone
smelling the coffee. I only hope that concerned Democrats,
undistracted by the pressing concerns of running this country and
saving it from complete economic collapse on their watch, will set
their sights not just on mid term elections but on 2012. It is not
too early. Soon enough, it may be too late.

The Audacity of An Ambition: The Political Economy of Obama’s Electoral Victory*

On November 4th, 2008, Americans went to the polls and made a statement to the rest of the world by electing Barack Obama the first African American to be the President of the United States of America. While there are many factors that contributed to this historic win, one single factor and issue which dominated the entire fall campaign was the economy. There is no doubt that when Americans realized on September the 15th, at the height of the financial meltdown, that there is a need for a bold decision to reverse the looming economic disaster, they did what came naturally to them and voted their pockets. The economic situation, the loss of real estate values and pension savings coupled with increasing rate of unemployment contributed in no means measure to the election of Barack Obama. In a free market environment and the world leading capitalist economy, the election was simply more about the economy. Barack Obama for months hammers on why the country was in economic stupor. From expensive wars overseas, to inept policies and perceived incompetence of the Republican administration, he was able to convince Americans to look beyond him and revisit their economic dire straits and ask themselves if they can afford another four more years of the same. That was a very convincing and we now know, successful sale. It worked because at any other time and with a different strategy, it might have been difficult for candidate Obama to close the deal. However there were other contributing factors as well. As President-elect Obama prepares to ascend the Presidential seat and the most powerful office in the world on January 20th 2009, we must also note that, although we may have seen his win as an historic achievement, we must nevertheless recognize that, he did it in a very unique way. First, Barack Obama stood on the shoulder of giants and this must not be lost on all of us. As a French analyst put it on Charlie Rose on the night of the election, “Rosa Park sat for Martin Luther King Jr to match, for Barack Obama to run and for America to fly”. We have just witnessed the culmination of a gradual and lengthy process of democratic consolidation on a path toward that perfect union. Obama ran as an American and his background is very much American in nature and his campaign led by David Axelrod and David Plouffe, were able to put together an excellent exercise, which reassured all Americans that , yes it can be done. Once they accepted the notion of Barack Obama as a competent American, his skin color remain just what it is and the dream’s “content of his character” became the issue. And once he was able to scale that hurdle, there was no doubt about America’s readiness to make history and elect him the next President. It has taken over 220 plus years for Americans to achieve this landmark but it is a signal to the rest of the world that, it can be done. If Obama could win in the United States of America surely, ethnic, racial or any differences any where in the world, becomes less of a determining factor if, and when a viable, competent and truly national candidate emerges in the future. Obama was not an African -American candidate, he was an American candidate for the Presidency. It took Reverend Wright for him to even address the race question and after that, it was never addressed again by his campaign. Barack Obama’s personality also contributed to his success at the polls. He is perceived as an intelligent, cool and dynamic individual. And by the time questions about Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers and others were raised, it fails to undermine his candidacy. This was because for months on end, he and his campaign were able to drum it into the American psychic, that candidate Obama is above them. Charismatic leadership, ability to communicate and to inspire and to raise people’s hope remains an important ingredient for leadership and Obama possess it all. He used it well and as we found out words do matter. Since that evening four years ago, at the democratic convention, when he introduced him self to America that: There is no red America and no blue America but a United States of America, he laid the foundation and the recipe for his success. The audacity to aspire, run and play on the tuff of the Republicans couple with buying into Howard Dean’s 50- state strategy worked perfectly well for his campaign. For several election cycles, democrats have always limited themselves to their blue states and then hope to win but this time Barack Obama went for all the marbles in all the states and it paid off. This was a winning strategy that will reshape the way Presidential politics will be played in the future. We also have new generation of voters. These new voters were not only the under 30s years of age, who were post racial in their world view but also new registrants who want to be part of history. These new voters came out in drove to cast their votes on the day of the election. When you combine this with the energy of the Barack Obama’s grass-root organization and mobilization, which doomed the Clinton machine earlier in the year, it was a tall order to expect the Republican Party to win. The Republicans also helped Obama by nominating their best candidate capable of winning this election cycle but fails to support him enthusiastically. This forced Senator McCain to gamble and play safe to rally the base, by selecting Governor Sarah Palin. The choice was palliative at best with little lasting effect. In fact about 19% of them voted for Barack Obama in the end. The choice of Palin combined with the newness of Obama on the national stage initially kept the race within reach, at least until the financial melt down. And then it was down hill from then. Obama also had the heavy financial advantage. The fact that he was able to raise over 160million dollars in the last month before the election alone makes the task even more difficult for McCain as it was for Mrs Clinton earlier during the primary. The effective use of the internet and the effect of the grass root fundraising capabilities help made it happened. The implication for the future is two fold: From now on, more and more Americans will able to support their candidates through small donations, the way millions supported Obama or we will see another campaign reforms which will force a limited financial options on the candidates for the most powerful office in the world. From the Republican enabling factor, with the financial meltdown, President Bush’s problems to Barack Obama‘s charisma, his campaign strategy, the financial advantage and the time for change, the election of Mr Obama became inevitable. Obama has a lot of people to thank too. From Booker T Washington to W E B.Dubois, to Martin Luther King Jr, to Rosa Park, To Malcolm X, to Louis Farrakhan (even if one disagrees with him, his mere existence helps one to appreciate the other alternative-Obama) and to Jesse Jackson. There are many others to thank as well, the list include those who have blazed trails in their respective professions such Cornel West, Louis Henry Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Tiger Wood, Wills Smith, Michael Jackson, Bob Johnson and thousand others. These people while excelling in their professions have proved somehow to America that, yes it can be done.. The next step is for all, to now dream of this possibility. From Women, to Hispanic Americans, to Asian American and Native American, from Americans in the remote towns of Maine to the suburbs of California, Americans can now hope and yes it can be done. And to all of us in Africa, Latin America and Asia and of course in Europe, we can do it and this world can surely be a better place if we can put our differences and aim beyond our fears and limitations. Democracy is also the winner because however long it may take, everybody wins in the end and that is why we must give kudos to Jesse Jackson for inspiring us to ”keep hope alive”.

The Palin Puzzle

Although Americans have longer life spans these days, John McCain is at greater risk for death during the presidency than many of his peers because of his less-than-stellar health.

No more McCain for me. I am hearing that it is unlikely he will win. If that is true, then tonight could be the last time I ever have to hear his voice or watch him speak. I can't make intelligent comments about him tonight because he leaves me with a very bad visceral feeling, not a thought.

The domestic policy portion of tonight’s debate was almost agonizing to watch. The only joy was in watching Obama shine.

The day before you were elected I enjoyed full equality as a gay person living in California and the day after you were elected I had lost my civil rights and been relegated to second class citizenship when Prop. 8 was passed. Where was your leadership when it mattered most? Why didn't you urge everyone, especially the African American community who knows what it's like to be discriminated against, to vote no on Prop 8.? Many were lied to by their pastors who claimed that their churches would be forced to perform gay weddings or else lose their tax-exempt status (which they should anyway) and that gay marriage would be taught in schools. These are both lies of course. 70% of them voted to strip away our rights, including the rights of gay African Americans, even though straight blacks have made a complete mockery of marriage with the the highest divorce rate and number of broken families in the nation. Some religious blacks and others think that this is not a civil rights issue because people choose to be gay. This is crazy! I've never met anyone who chose to be gay. Why would anyone want to be ridiculed, taunted, and discriminated against by society and be relegated to second class citizenship? Why in God's name would a black person living during times of segregation choose to be gay? To risk being jailed or even beaten to death? You find me one single person, black, white, brown, any color or ethnicity, who says they woke up one day and decided to be gay. Good Luck! You say you favor equality and non-discrimination for everyone but at the same time oppose same-sex marriage? Unfortunately your own voice stating your opposition to same-sex marriage at the Saddleback Ranch in front of an evangelical audience was exactly the ammunition conservative Black and White reverends, pastors, and ministers was used on robocalls to hundreds of thousands of conservative churchgoers throughout California as well as Rick Warren's e-mail to his massive following of worshippers that used your direct quote as he urged everyone to vote yes on Prop. 8. In my heart I know you really don't oppose same-sex marriage, but you were afraid of not getting elected if you came out in support of it. So you tried to play it both ways. Well guess what? You put politics ahead of liberty and equality. You would have been elected anyway. As a result of your lack of leadership over a million gay citizens in California lost their equal rights, including the entire black gay African community. I donated to your campaign and wore a shirt with your picture for weeks leading up to Election Day. Now I feel like throwing it in a trash bin. Have you even bothered to see all the protest marches against Prop 8 that have been going on throughout California everyday since the election? This state is in a state of chaos right now. You contributed to it.
While millions of people celebrated on Nov. 4th, over a million gay citizens of California that had voted for you were devastated.
All I can say is: SHAME ON YOU BARACK OBAMA!! If I wanted a president who supports discrimination I could have voted for McCain.

“Change Has Come To America” – Obama Victory Speech I knew when watching live on my television set that this was history in the making on the night of November 4, 2008.

I was watching a man who inspired me, a man who made me realize that if we simply come together, we can create real change. That man was Barack Hussein Obama.

Barack Obama was the Democratic Presidential candidate who became President-elect. He will be sworn in as the first ever African-American President on January 20, 2009.

With honor, I supported and campaigned for Barack Obama through online blogs and discussions, and also through word of mouth. I knew I could not vote as a Canadian, but I understood that it was imperative for change in America in order to instill much needed change around the world. That’s what prompted me to impact votes for the 2008 US Presidential Election.

Barack Obama delivered his Presidential victory speech at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois before a massive supportive crowd with citizens and celebrities alike. Obama’s speech will go down as a historical ending to a chapter in history that lasted 45-years, while beginning a brand new chapter in history.

Martin Luther King, Jr. began the 45-year old chapter by saying “I have a dream,” on August 28, 1963.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.”

“And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual – free at last, free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

Barack Obama was that man who finally broke the barrier and answered Martin Luther King’s dream for everyone worldwide. You will not be judged by the colour of your skin, but rather by the character you exude. If you can become President of the United States, you can become anything you want!

Onset of becoming President in 2009, Barack Obama delivered a Presidential-elect victory speech like no other. Everything you ever wanted to say but felt as if you were being politically incorrect was finally said, and that is what change is all about. Barack Obama is about the people!

Here now is Barack Obama’s entire victory speech:

“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

It’s the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and he’s fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the months ahead.

I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on that train home to Delaware, the Vice President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.

I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nations next First Lady, Michelle Obama. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that’s coming with us to the White House. And while she’s no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure.

To my campaign manager David Plouffe, my chief strategist David Axelrod, and the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics - you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you’ve sacrificed to get it done.

But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to – it belongs to you.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn’t start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington – it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.

It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generations apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory.

I know you didn’t do this just to win an election and I know you didn’t do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime – two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they’ll make the mortgage, or pay their doctors bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America – I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you – we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it’s been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years – block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it’s that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers - in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House - a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world - our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down – we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security – we support you. And to all those who have wondered if Americas beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

For that is the true genius of America, that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that’s on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing - Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.

She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn’t vote for two reasons - because she was a woman and because of the colour of her skin.

And tonight, I think about all that she’s seen throughout her century in America – the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can’t, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.

At a time when women’s voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.

When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.

She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that We Shall Overcome. Yes we can.

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves - if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth - that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

Yes We Can. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.”

There we have it – a moment in time that generations upon us will be talking about and we were the ones who lived through it!

Post Mortem On Sarah Palin

While I have much to say about our amazing Presidential victory, including heartiest congratulations to President-Elect Obama, the Obama family, and all of America for a job well done, for now just a comment about Sarah Palin.

I personally wrote some scathing posts about Palin during the campaign, focused mainly on her ideology and her unpreparedness for the role of Vice President.

For weeks Tina Fey and SNL have been busting on Palin, and we've been laughing right along with them, at everything from Palin's Fargo-like accent, to her beauty queen days, to her bizarre and stilted interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric. Palin herself even tried to be a sport about it and got in on the game.

Now that the media is beginning to release behind-the-scenes stories about Palin, from her outrageous clothing purchases at Neiman-Marcus to her mishandling of her own handlers, I see something most clearly.

The fault for the Sarah Palin debacle lies not with Palin at all, but solely and completely with John McCain.

McCain chose Palin to be his VP running mate without vetting her, and then shoved her into the national spotlight when she possessed neither the experience nor the worldliness to carry it off.

He plucked her from near obscurity, took her to the most important prom in the world, expected her to accomplish for him what he couldn't do for himself, and then dropped her off the edge of a cliff.

Whether Sarah Palin has or own political ambitions or not, she was not handled fairly by John McCain.

Make no mistake here. I am NOT a Sarah Palin supporter. Zero percent. But I do see the human side to her story, and really do feel for what she must now be going through.

My disagreements with her ideology aside, Palin never should have been part of a national campaign. She wasn't ready for it, nor will she likely ever be ready for it, as her experience and knowledge base is simply too shallow and too far afield to handle presidential and international politics.

How could she have done better when she didn't know any better? But John McCain should have known better. Instead, he put his own ego and career before all else.

I hope Sarah Palin can recover the life she wanted in Alaska, and wish the Palin family all good wishes now that they have returned home.

During one of the most memorable nights in my lifetime, a night reminiscent of the hours before the birth of my daughter, I anxiously watched America choose its 44th President, Barack Hussein Obama. His skin color was not a deal breaker. His middle name was not a deterrent. Over the next days, weeks and years historians, political scientists and folks sitting in diners with coffee in hand will be debating the factors that lead to Democrat Obama being selected over Republican John McCain. The significance cannot be debated.

My personal elation was threefold:

~ I intensely believed that Obama was the better choice to lead America at this critical and complex period fraught with dangers and challenges. Our country requires a dramatic change in emphasis as to whose interests it serves domestically and, of equal importance, the direction of foreign policy.

~ This election demonstrated that a national political campaign can be successful that does not base its strategy on negativity and divisiveness, accusation and innuendo. One can only hope that the Republican Party, which continued to utilize the Atwater and Rove political tools of shlock and awe in this election, will abandon the strategies that the American people in 2008 emphatically rejected.

~ Pride that the United States of America took a huge step toward being a more inclusive society.

At 11:00 PM on November 4, 2008 it was announced that Obama had surpassed the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. I saw the tears on the face of Jesse Jackson, a leader of the African American community who, in recent years, was characterized as attacking and divisive. Few of us could stand in the shoes of Mr. Jackson and understand the dangers and challenges he faced as a leader in the civil rights movement that began in the 1960s to break the stranglehold that communities, particularly in the South, had over Black citizens. Over a two-hour period this night, each time that the camera focused on Mr. Jackson’s face, tears continue to flow from a depth that I imagine is beyond my comprehension.

I listened to another pillar of the civil rights movement, long-serving Georgia congressman John Lewis. He discussed what it meant to him and the African American community for a Black man to be elected to the nation’s highest office. It is certain that many viewers, even the majority of us that did not directly experience his history, shared his pride, emotion, and moist eyes.

Eugene Robinson is an African American and columnist for the Washington Post. I have listened to him during many of his appearances on political talk shows, his commentary always impersonal and analytical. Following the announcement that Obama won the election Mr. Robinson offered observations about what Obama’s success meant to him on a movingly personal level and the joy and pride he shared with his aging parents in a telephone conversation minutes before.

Channel surfing to ABC I listened to an interview between a White seasoned newsman and a younger Black reporter speaking from his hometown area of Lynchburg, VA. The older reporter commented about an assignment early in his career when he was sent from the North to cover a story in Lynchburg. He described his shock to find restrooms labeled Men, Women and Colored.

This morning I made my usual stop for a bagel and coffee. As I entered the store I saw a White customer high-fiving with an African American employee. Although the employee knew me we had never discussed politics. When I commented that last night was very special she offered me her hand in a high-five gesture.

The Obama election will not automatically eradicate what is a dwindling but still existing degree of racial prejudice in our country. It seems to be a characteristic of human nature to distrust that which is different. The candidacy of Barack Obama did make a major contribution toward the understanding that as Americans we have a common interest and a common bond. The election of Barack Obama, supported by a very significant electoral vote majority, is a threshold moment for human relations in American we can share and admire and celebrate.

* The Bush effect

One wonders if the Democrat Obama could have won this election if not for the damaging effect the Republican Bush administration has had on our country. The Republican candidate McCain was seen as a strong supporter of Bush doctrine and policy - no matter how consistently the McCain campaign attempted to distance itself from Bush. The country was desperately ready for change.

Although I have been a very vocal critic of George W. Bush I believe he did have a positive influence on the positive public perception of African Americans serving in high-level federal positions. Among the Bush appointments of African Americans to very significant positions in his administration were Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice. These appointments, in no small way, helped pave the road for Obama’s journey to the White House.

* The Howard Dean effect – Not to be forgotten in the Democratic success this election cycle is the wisdom and influence of the former governor of Vermont and current Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, the central organization of the Democratic Party. It was during his unsuccessful presidential candidacy 4 years ago that a 50-state strategy for the Democratic Party was conceived. For many years prior to that time Democrats ignored states it deemed unfavorable to its success. Mr. Dean changed that strategy and it was a building block diligently implemented by the Obama campaign.

It's over.

John McCain went down to defeat today in what was an obvious, predictable loss.

Claiming to be a "maverick" while in reality being anything but, Senator McCain came across instead as alternatively a petulant child and an apologist for bankers that have robbed America blind for the previous six years. As one of the "Aye" voters both for the $700 billion robbery of taxpayer bill (an affront that Barack Obama shares) and the "bankruptcy reform" bill that put a noose around American's necks, he finally "got his" on the national political stage.

America spoke, and said not just "no", but "hell no."

Unlike when we spoke to you Senator McCain when you were voting for the bailout, this time you're obligated to listen.

Unfortunately the McCain campaign turned out to be nothing more than apologists for the liars, cheats and frauds.

I called this back in July, and there are times I hate being right.

This is one of them.

In reality there is nothing to like here in this election season. America's economy is headed for the hole in the center of the bowl no matter what we do, and the imperative now must be to guarantee that the bankers and fraudsters don't make off with any more of our money, to claw back what we can, and to protect the funding capacity of our government, not to protect bankers and attempt to do what is mathematically impossible.

I have only faint hope that President-elect Obama will accomplish any of that in his time as President, and even less faith that he will be able to interdict the present idiocy prior to his inauguration.

It takes a strong man to stand up to the banking interests that bribe everyone up and down Washington DC. President Obama is only 10% likely to do the right thing, a President McCain was 0% likely to do so.

I do see, however, two possibilities and no middle ground, which gives me some hope. One possibility is that President Obama will proceed to play "pigman handout-a-thon", in which case our nation is headed for an economic collapse that will make The Depression look like a cakewalk.

Should President Obama listen to such idiots as Ben Bernanke and Henry Paulson, this outcome is assured. Two years from now the Democratic Party will suffer the worst defeat in the history of the Republic, being mortally wounded and forever removed from American Politics. Four years from now President Obama will depart with his tail between his legs and head home to Chicago with a new middle name - "Hoover".

The depths to which American could sink under such a series of mistakes cannot be underestimated. It is entirely possible that a worst-case scenario could come to pass, including a political failure in our nation.

Barack Obama understands what this could mean, since he has ancestors who dealt with not being free men - and one hopes he is conscious of the risk that continuing down the "bailout path" brings in this regard. This risk cannot be overstated; it is REAL. Political and monetary failure, if it occurs, has an extremely high risk of leading to a form of government that is very different than our founding fathers intended, and none of us want to see.

The second possibility is that President Obama actually thinks on his own and comes to recognize that he's not a figurehead, nor is he a puppet of the bankers and fraudsters - that he was sent to Washington DC for a reason.

To imprison all the fraudsters both on Wall Street and Main Street, and recover every nickel possible from their ill-gotten gains for ordinary Americans.

To clean up American Finance and implement The Genesis Plan or something akin to it, forcing full transparency and limits on leverage throughout the financial system.

To tell The American People that no, you cannot have houses appreciate faster than incomes, that the maximum sustainable home price is 3.5x income, and that spending more than 36% of your pretax income on all your debt, housing included, is both unreasonable and unsafe, leaving you one minor household disaster away from bankruptcy.

This pronouncement, along with policies that encourage same, will lead to a rapid revaluation of home prices downward, and clear the market.

To tell The American People that "free trade" sounds fine in theory, but that as practiced over the last 20 years it has led to tremendous distortions in foreign exchange and interest rates, not to mention millions of Americans losing their jobs to overseas workers who aren't better at what they do - they are just cheaper, mostly because they are either coming from or still living in slave-like conditions. Perhaps President Obama will do something to correct that imbalance, although you can bet the "masters of American Capitalism" will scream loud and long about any such attempt.

To tell The American People that the age of bubblenomics is over - that one must earn enough money to buy what one wishes to purchase, and if you can't, then you're unable to afford it - and that this applies to government as well.

To tell The American People that an Obama Administation will not permit The Fed to print money, nor to monetize bad assets - whether they be fraudulent mortgages, bad credit card debt, upside down auto loans or anything else. That such bad debt must instead be forced to default, and those who wrote that paper must eat their loss, no matter how painful and whether or not it results in business failure.

Tough but necessary words - words that are exactly opposite that which President Bush uttered after 9/11.

This is the change that America voted for Senator, now President-Elect Obama.

Is this the change that we truly can believe in, or were those mere words in a Presidential campaign?

We shall soon find out.

Presidential Race 2008 - Grand Finale

The Presidential race is finally nearing end with the nation in the process of electing their 44th President of this great country, The United States of America.

The representation of all party candidates is on the ballot and they have all presented their election manifestos to the electorate.

The decision lies in the hands of the voters to make the right choice.

While the entire world’s eyes set on this election due to its significance and the historic nature, the weight of the world indeed, rests on the American electorate.

Therefore, my plea to every citizen fortunate enough to exercise the fundamental right in a democracy is to cast his or her ballot on this Election Day and be part of history.

As stated earlier in my previous blog postings, like all elections, there are relevant differences between the candidacies for the senate, congressional and Presidential race.

It is equally important to pay attention to various “Propositions” presented in lieu of “Referendum” in democratic elections.

Our nation has suffered enormously in the past eight years.

The wound is fresh and requires time for the healing process.

The only way to expedite is by making the right choices in all of the above races.

As much as I would like to remain bipartisan on this day in terms of encouraging all citizens to vote for their respective candidates and issues, I am also obligated to guide the nation in the right direction of peace, progress and prosperity for all.

It is my honorable duty and specific purpose of this life to fulfill the responsibilities towards not only the citizens of the United States but the entire world.

With all due respect, to the Republican Party candidates Senator John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin and all other third party candidates listed in the http://www.politics1.com/p2008.htm, I appreciate their interests and patriotism to serve this great nation.

However, when compared to the specifics of the policies,

And the real possibility of achieving the goals to uplift our nation from all of the crises,

The Democratic candidacy represented by Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden seems far more realistic and attainable.

Therefore, I urge the electorate to cast their ballot for Obama/Biden candidacy that is not only hopeful but also seriously committed to this country and the entire world in great many respects.

I take this opportunity and wish all the candidates in the Republican and the third party my very best wishes on this Election Day.

It is important for the voters to realize that our nation has to climb a steep hill with enormous burden of debt and many crises on our back.

There is no time to rest and pause but only to reflect on the failures of the current administration and restrain from re-election of the choice resembling and representing the present government.

The electoral process should not be wasted or gambled away for trial and error as in the past i.e. 2000 and 2004.

Unfortunately, the stakes are too high and there is no time or space to maneuver once decided on this date, with another opportunity becoming available only in four years time.

The Obama/Biden candidacy focused on resolving issues with clear solutions and sincere commitment is the right choice for the country experiencing the most difficult economic times, social, political, environmental problems in the national and international fronts.

Both Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden offer dynamic leadership brimming with confidence, determination, zeal, enthusiasm, honesty, integrity and above all sound strategies for the present national and international situations.

The term “change” has been the theme of the Presidential race.

In all fairness and propriety, the actual agent who initiated and overwhelmingly enforced this message of “Change” is none other than, the Senator from the State of Illinois, Senator Barack Obama.

In fact, Senator Barack Obama truly believed in his heart that the country desperately needed to change its course and felt the urgency to implement the method in this election.

Undoubtedly, all candidates worked hard tirelessly in this campaign and dealt with compliments and criticisms alike from all sides.

Senator Barack Obama introduced new mechanism and demeanor in this political campaign.

For most part, Senator Obama had to fight tenacious battles to reach the finish line during the Democratic Primary election and then in the general election as well.

Senator Barack Obama displayed a decorum seen unlike before.

Throughout the decision making process in this election, Senator Barack Obama has come across as a leader with an ability to sail through rough seas with a calm composure and reliable in reaching the shore safely.

Despite several negative attacks, innuendoes, divisive politics, Senator Barack Obama maintained an impressive personality to accept not only his own mistakes but also others as part of human nature.

As stated earlier, being infallible is not in human condition.

Senator Obama and Senator Biden, despite the unfortunate Gaffes proved their ability to rise to the occasion and demonstrate leadership qualities essential to lead the nation in the right direction.

The reason behind our current national status is due to the lack of strong leadership in dealing with any challenges and crisis.

Placing emphasis on these characteristics is all-important when choosing a leader of a powerful nation that has the responsibility to lead the entire world.

The United States of America is on its knees with insurmountable debt, tarnished image and severe credibility crisis.

The current administration’s reckless policies and lack of chivalry in the governance of the democratic nation is responsible for the present status.

None of us can afford to let the nation sink in the treacherous sea of debt and destruction through on-going wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It takes a nation to elect a leader, the President of the United States, the “Superpower” now and in the future.

I urge every citizen from all the great states of The United States:

Palin's So-Called Foreign Affairs Experience

As most people have heard, two Canadian DJs engaged Gov. Sarah Palin in a prank call on Saturday Nov 1, 2008. One of them posed as French President Nicholas Sarkozy. Gov. Palin spoke with them for about 6 minutes. When I heard the recording of the call I immediately recognized that "President Sarkozy" had a French Canadian accent. My advantage is that I was born in Montréal and lived there until I was 10. (I have been an American citizen for about 18 years.) (Here is THE CALL and here is THE TRANSCRIPT in Canada's national newspaper.)

Palin (and her staff) did not recognize the fact that the accent was completely wrong either during the call or the long process it took the DJs to convince her staff to let them speak with her. I'm sure there were more clues in the run-up to the actual conversation but Palin's staff didn't clue in. They even asked how to spell "Sarkozy."

But what struck me as even more odd, besides the obvious sexual references, was the fact that someone who has touted her dealings with Canada as part of her foreign affairs experience did not know the name of Canada's prime minister. This is especially curious in light of the fact that Stephen Harper is a fellow religious conservative. (By the way the major US TV networks failed to stress this major discrepancy.)

Here is a quote from the Globe and Mail that reveals the people about whom Palin had no clue.

In it, Mr. Audette - as President Sarkozy - alluded to his "special American adviser Johnny Hallyday" (better known as a French rock 'n' roll singer), "the prime minister of Canada Stef Carse," (better known as a Québécois country and western singer who recorded Achy Breaky Heart) and the "prime minister of Quebec, Mr. Richard Z. Sirois," (better known as a popular Québécois comedian). Ms. Palin never seemed to know the difference.

One of the DJs stated that he couldn't believe how long Ms. Palin seemed to be taken in by the prank. "She never, never suspected anything," Mr. Trudel said. "It was a little bit frightening."

In my view it's much more than a little frightening. It's a demonstration of how ignorant Gov. Palin is and how ill prepared she is to be vice president.

There has been no evidence of intellectual curiosity on her part. The problems we face demand leadership that is willing to consider solutions from all quarters that are backed up by evidence. Vote Today For Real CHANGE The time is now, we have gone past midnight.

Across all of the United States of America, voting has begun for the 44th President.

As a Canadian I don’t have to care, but I do. Just as I care for my next door neighbours, I care for America too. When I see my neighbour sad, I feel sad, but when I see them happy I feel happy.

I want to see that America I once loved during the 90’s. President Bill Clinton was commander and chief and riding high with an economical surplus. Times were good.

With all the hits Barack Obama has taken from media, John McCain, and Sarah Palin, he has shown the strong will needed in order to survive in the oval office. After all, it’s not about how hard you can hit, but rather how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward without any deviations.

There’s no question that Barack Obama has taken the hits from every corner, and while none of them have been warranted, none of them have affected him either. He’s stayed true to his word.

As a Canadian I unfortunately do not have the privilege of voting. What I can do though is impact your vote and I feel as if I have done so. Many Republicans have taken their time to email me and thank me for the insight I have opened them up to. As a result they will now be voting for Barack Obama.

Obama has been there with the middle-class of America right from the get-go. He’s lost both parents and he’s suffered through financial pain. He knows what it’s like to be hampered with health care payments. His mom was even being bombarded with insurance bureaucracies while she was on her deathbed with cancer.

Americans suffer through those same pains everyday and as President, Barack Obama looks to eliminate as much of those pains as possible by lowering taxation for 95% of Americans. So if you’re making less than a quarter of a million dollars, then you will see your taxes reduced. Big corporations and the upper-class can once again see their taxes due in the same amount as they were in President Bill Clinton's term.

I’ll retort to my earlier comment in the fact that when I see my neighbour unhappy, I feel unhappy because it’s an atmosphere around me that begs for help. Big corporations and the upper-class of America should share those same feelings.

Vote Barack Obama for President and Joe Biden for Vice President once your polls open.

If instead you choose to vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin, then do not complain when your country is not on its way to financial surplus. As a result, your country would once again be viewed in the light of President George W. Bush. If that becomes the case, then you ‘my friends’ are cowards because you know you voted for the Republicans and missed the opportunity for REAL CHANGE.

If you know your role, then Democratic Barack Obama is your vote. Your role is to uphold the American Dream once again, as it was in the 90’s. The time for talking is no longer needed. The time to vote is now.

I bid you good luck with the fulfillment of “CHANGE” in the most important Presidential Election in the history of the United States of America.

Color Me Blind

Throughout history, detractors of presidential hopefuls typically cited unethical, immoral and/or criminal behavior, activities and/or affiliations as reasons for not electing candidates.

Certainly, this election is the first in history, perhaps in U.S. history, where a candidate not only must contend with typical criticisms and accusations but also with the color, or lack thereof, of his skin. It is astounding to me that in this day and age, Barack Obama has been criticized for being “too black” and “not black enough”. How can both be true?

Furthermore, why focus on skin color when Obama’s background and stand on issues of importance to Americans is most paramount? If the issues are meaningless in comparison with skin color, then why hasn’t John McCain been criticized for being “too white” and “not white enough”? Because it would be so idiotic? Several current and likely former Arizona residents would disagree with my contention.

When compared with the flawless and richly-colored skin of the exquisitely beautiful Latinas I envy, the extraordinarily fair skin I inherited from my Irish ancestors is quite prominent. Nevertheless, I had never been criticized for being “too white” until moving to Arizona from Maryland 30 years ago. I was criticized most by other whites who insisted that I was “too white” and needed to “get a tan”.

Trying to “get a tan” in Arizona proved very different from the constant and frequent blistering sunburns I experienced during childhood summers in Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey. In fact, I wound up with, at about age 17 or 18, a second-degree sunburn unlike any previously seen by emergency room personnel, a burn that took several months to heal, not to this day completely but only to the degree of which it has been capable.

Today, those who criticize my “whiteness” might believe, as did those in the past, that insisting I “get a tan” is doing me a favor, but winding up with skin cancer – squamous cell carcinoma or malignant melanoma – is no favor.

It has taken me years to realize that those who criticize a person’s skin color are not only cruel but ignorant. Skin color can rarely be permanently changed because it is an inherited characteristic. I unsuccessfully attempted to “will” my skin darker for 35 years.

When it comes to the candidates and the issues, however, the real issue is why skin color still matters. The last time I checked, the year was 2008, not 1908, not 1808, not 1708, not 1608, not 1008.

Have we learned nothing in hundreds of years? If now is not the time to stop focusing on color and focus on character, then when? How much longer will people continue to be unreasonable and unrealistic when it comes to skin color? Color is just color, nothing more.

Criticizing another’s skin color or lack thereof is akin to criticizing the color of another’s eyes, the shape of their ears, or the size and color of their internal organs. Pets have a variety of fur colors, but I have never heard anyone criticizing a dog or cat for having fur that is “too black”, “too white”, “too tan” or “not black enough”, “not white enough”, “not tan enough”.

Those who criticize Obama’s skin color ought to examine why they are avoiding what’s really important. Because skin color is not the issue.

I Tremble For My Country

The American author and naturalist Terry Tempest Williams once wrote, "The eyes of the future are watching us and they are praying that we learn to see beyond our own time. They are kneeling with clasped hands that we might act with restraint, leaving room for the life that is destined to come."

Described as a "visionary" by the Utne Reader, Williams’ prayerful hope sums up how I feel this morning, the day before what will be the most-critical election of our time. Maybe any time since Lincoln was elected in 1860. Yet I also tremble for my country as it stands on the eve of electing its 44th president.

I tremble because we stare numbly at a world in crisis due largely to America’s catastrophic wars of and “in your face” foreign policy.

I tremble because we live terrified in an economy melting faster than a snow cone in August thanks to the unbridled greed and “grab all you can before someone else gets any” philosophy nurtured by a president who has no moral compass.

I tremble because we shiver in the cold, early days of winter as a cold, shivering chill runs down our spines when we hear John McCain and Sarah Palin throw smears and platitudes like red meat to starving animals instead of discussing real issues like 11% of the country not working when unemployment claims are added to the number of people who’ve become discouraged and stopped looking for a job, or poverty in America, or one-sixth of the country hoping they and their kids don’t get sick or injured because they have no insurance.

I tremble because we’ve endured eight years of seeing America’s honor in the world torn to shreds, the Constitutional rights that protected us for 225 years from government abuse of power and authority systematically stripped and shredded, the novel American ideal of equal justice and equal rights and equal opportunity and equal protection raped repeatedly by an ideologically-driven Supreme Court where one Republican-appointed justice is angry he was born black, a second is a mental midget and a third accepts the far right notion that those who have it are worth more under the law than anyone who doesn’t.

I tremble because if We the People of the United States of America have another election stolen out from under us there will be hell to pay at home and around the world. One of the most laconic women I know told me last night that if somehow McCain confounds the reams of polls and somehow wins, there will be rioting in the streets and “I’ll be out there throwing bricks myself.” Ironically, a deposition is being taken today in Ohio of the man who may have been responsible for illegal, computerized vote switching and disappearing votes in the Buckeye State in the infamous Great Ken Blackwell 2004 Presidential Election Vote Switcheroo.

I tremble for my country because there is not enough Loraizapam™ in the world to calm me down if Obama loses. I should be celebrating my birthday today but instead I sit worried, fearful, frightened and trembling.

John McCain spent over five years nearly 2000 days, in a prison camp. He was repeatedly beaten and tortured and held in solitary confinement over this period. This was very honorable and courageous of him, but very difficult to overcome the effects of this cruel treatment. No one wants to mention this in a negative way, but race, racial issues and political slurs are always in play. Mr. McCain has repeatedly shown his ire and temperament many times through out this campaign. My question to all the die hard conservatives and Joe the Plumbers out there is, do you really want this man setting “IN THE CHAIR” with the red hot phone line and the dooms day button at his disposal. Or a man like Senator Obama, who has an even temperament and no grudges lurking in the caverns of his mind. It’s time for some voters to take a step back, and really think what might be in store, for us all, with the real John McCain “IN THE CHAIR”.

Will Voters Be Driven By Fear, Or Desire For Change ?

It is the final hour in America. It’s time to elect the President that we believe has all of our best interest at heart as a country, while protecting the security and economic interests of the United States.

Basically it comes down to who do you believe will get the job done, and get it done right this time ?

As I watched virtually all of the campaign speeches, commercials, news interviews, and read the candidates websites, I wasn’t so much looking for the words on the page, or spoken aloud, but the context in which they were spoken, and the intent.

I have watched John McCain continuously insult the intelligence of American’s over and over again during this election, and no matter what new plan he now has for America, that he didn’t have in his last 20 years in Washington, I would never be able to get over the disgust I feel in the way that he choose to convey his message.

At a time when the country not only needs to come together, we also need to work together, and the Republican base has spent the majority of their time and money attempting to separate the country, which to me shows selfishness, and a serious lack of leadership.

Republican Organizers, Campaign Managers, and PAC’s have presented to the American people a campaign of name calling , fear and intimidation in order to scare Americans into voting for John McCain. Over the last few months they have acted less like leaders of a multi cultural nation, and more like a pack of caddy, gossiping cheerleaders.

First they called Barack Obama a Muslim , using religion to invoke fear in Americans, not only insulting Muslim Americans, but peace loving Muslims around the world. If John McCain was attempting to prove to the nation and the world that he can lead this nation and represent our interest around the world, using religion to scare people was a serious lack of judgment, and showed lack of character. If I were leader of another country, I would be hesitant to trust a man that would use religion as a scare tactic.

Secondly, the McCain camp attempted to use distant associations with colorful, and sometimes questionable individuals as proof that Barack Obama is not someone to be trusted. Sarah Palin actually used the term repeatedly, “Pallin’ around with terrorist“. This coming form a Governor of a State in our Union, who’s husband was a member of the Alaskan Secessionist party, the AIP, that preached the separation of Alaska from the United States.

..And coming from McCain, who was a part of the Keating 5, and was actually caught taking gifts and cash from Charles Keating, while lobbying for the deregulation that was collapsing every Savings and Loan in the United States where hard working Americans lost millions in savings and investments. I mean it really takes some balls for McCain to throw stones when he not only took gifts from a crook ….never listed them on his tax returns, which is how he got caught. Defrauding the American People and Hiding income and gifts. That showed dishonesty, and hypocrisy.

Third. Did anyone hear McCain in the last Presidential Debate say, “I know how to get Osama Bin Laden.” ? If you were like me your mouth dropped wide open. It was infuriating to think that John McCain seemed to be saying that unless we elect him President, he will not share this precious knowledge of how to capture or kill America’s #1 Enemy, and murderer of Americans around the world. To think that U.S. Troops have marched into a country looking for weapons that didn’t exist, in a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, while kicking in doors all over the Iraqi desert and across the mountains of Afghanistan looking for someone that John Mccain now claims he knows how to get all along, really pissed me off. It was an insult to our troops and if he in fact does posses this precious knowledge and is holding it hostage until the Presidential seal is under his butt, it should be considered an act of treason.

John Mccain has spent this entire campaign trying to scare us into believing that he is the only one that can save us, the exact same message that George Bush used in the 2004 Election. A direct contradiction of his message that “Americans don’t want a Government that takes care of them”. He has spent more time talking about Barack Obama, than Barack Obama has.

It is disappointing that such a respected and honored veteran, and U.S. Senator would forget the honor that he once had as an officer in the United States Military, his original platform.

His campaign has been erratic, with no clear message of his own, only changing messages from month to month to match ideas and ideals that Barack Obama had presented from day one.

*If you look back before the GOP Convention, “Change” was not the platform of the Mccain campaign, it was National Security. Obama’s platform has always been “Change you can believe in”. McCain hasn’t had an original idea in the whole campaign.

His choice of Sarah Palin, while providing us with unlimited comic relief, showed a serious lack in judgment from a 72 year old man, not looking take care of his country, but one looking to recharge his own ego. There is no doubt in my mind that she is not ready to assume the role of Commander in Chief should something happen to John McCain, and a level headed leader would have chosen someone who would be ready from day one. John McCain never considered the possibility that she may actually have to step in, which shows serious denial. Not what we need from our next President.

To sum it up, John Mccain has spent so much time attacking Obama’s character that he failed to see that he was actually showing us his. Americans now have to decide if the republicans and John McCain have truly scared us back into the hole that we are fighting to get out of, or if the content of a mans character is an accurate representation of what kind of leader he will be for all of us. I have already made my decision.

The Bulk of Government Welfare Does Not Go To The Poor

Tax and Spend liberals” is a constant theme of both the moderate, and conservative republican base of this country. During this campaign, just like the previous ones, Republican candidates have used scare tactics telling people that Barack Obama wants to take your money and give it away to others, conjuring up images in the minds of paranoid Americans of African American teenagers sitting at home with 3 kids watching Jerry Springer while living off tax dollars, and young black males in front of liquor stores drinking malt liquor out of paper bags with money they received from welfare.

While the ignorance is hilarious, it is simply not the case in America.

Firstly, Democratic President William Jefferson Clinton signed the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, a bill that set work requirements for most welfare recipients and limited the length of time that they could receive assistance, making it a substantial change to the welfare system.

In the Summer of 1996, Clinton said “A long time ago… I concluded that the current welfare system undermines the basic values of work, responsibility and family, trapping generation after generation in dependency and hurting the very people it was designed to help.”

In June of 1996, Clinton said “First and foremost, community programs must stress abstinence and personal responsibility. A program cannot be successful unless it gives our children the moral leadership they need to say no to the wrong choices and yes to the right ones.”

So if Clinton reformed welfare way back in the 90’s and limited the length of time that any one person can receive assistance, why then do so many in America still have this misinformed view of who benefits from Government Social Programs, and why do so many Republican politicians continue to feed that ignorance ?

During the October 22 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage asked: “Do you think a person on welfare has the right to vote? I don’t. Why should a person who is on public assistance maintain the right to vote? Tell me why. Where is it written that they should have the right to vote?” He added: “I support them, and they should have the same vote I do? That would be like saying an infant has the right to vote or an insane person has the right to vote. Why should a welfare recipient have the right to vote? They’re only gonna vote themselves a raise.”

Savage continued: “So if you get a demagogue like [Sen. Barack] Obama coming along, and he says to the welfare recipient, elect me, and I’ll make sure that we have trickle-up poverty, and the rich — so-called, that is anyone who works for a living — will give you more money, more welfare, of course you’re gonna vote for the demagogue Obama. See, if I was in charge, I’d pass a law which says, OK, you can’t support yourself for whatever reason, you’re on welfare, you lose the right to vote.”- Media Matters

Savage, in my opinion is an idiot, but who are these people that he, and so many other conservative supporters like him want to be treated as second class citizens? Social Welfare programs only account for about 1% of the Federal Budget and 2% of state budgets, but, who benefits from the most welfare in this country ? It’s not the people.

What about corporate welfare ? Yes there is such a thing and it is far more expensive to the American tax payer than food stamps to a widowed suburban mom, struggling college student, or senior citizen trying to make ends meet….and Republicans are big on it !

According to OMBWATCH.ORG:

Fact: Spending for corporate welfare programs outweighs spending for low-income programs by more than three to one: $167 billion to $51.7 billion (source: Aid for Dependent Corporations, from the Corporate Welfare Project and How Much Do We Spend on Welfare?, from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, FY 95 figures)
Fact: Total federal spending on a safety net for the poor costs the average taxpayer about $400 a year, while spending on corporate welfare programs costs the same taxpayer about $1400 a year. (source: CBO figures)
Fact: Over 90% of the budget cuts passed by the last Congress cut spending for the poor — programs that ensure food for the needy, housing for the homeless, job training for the unemployed, community health care for the sick. Fact: Only 3.9% of total federal outlays go to programs that solely benefit poor people.

Welfare programs for corporations do not play by the same rules as welfare for people. Welfare benefits for individuals and families are limited by strict eligibility requirements and time limits, while corporations get corporate welfare benefits regardless of wealth or accountability.

Fact: Individuals and families must demonstrate need to receive benefits, while corporations with billions of dollars in annual income remain on the federal dole.
Fact: Most social spending is in the form of discretionary spending, which is scrutinized in the annual budget negotiating process in Congress; most corporate welfare programs are in the form of tax expenditures, which go on and on since they are not subject to annual review by Congress.

…and we already know of the multi billion dollar bailout that American tax payers are in the midst of shelling out to save some of Wall Streets most profitable companies. The largest Government handout in the History of the United States.

If we followed Mr. Savages logic, that would mean thousands of corporate executives, and company employees would be turned way from the polls.

But I am sure that the back lash against welfare is against individuals. Americans. Struggling Mothers, and laid off workers trying to feed their families. Not corporations, right ?

The fact of the matter is , Moderate and Conservative republican groups continue to pull off the biggest con job in America politics.

By literally scarring hard working Americans who are not wealthy by any means, and feeding into this country’s underlying racism and hang ups, they continue to sell the bill of goods that Democrats want to give money to some fictional “home boy’s” outside of a liquor store, and unwed teen mothers (like Bristol Palin - who’s baby and health insurance is paid for by tax dollars). And each and every time, they pull off this con, they cut benefits from people that really need it, some of them are your neighbors, parents, and friends who have hit a rough patch, and give it to their buddies in corporate America so they don’t have to spend their own money to expand….and thousands of people fall for it every election.

Americans are truly misinformed about who really gets the lions share of Government handouts. As long as your attention is mis-directed at fear, ignorance and racism against fellow Americans, the con job will continue to be a success. Apparently in the eyes of conservatives it is better that corporations and executives get a government handout instead of actual people that need a lift, right? How’s that working out for ya ?

With anything, there has to be a captivating subjectivity that lures an individual into any given matter in order to prompt an invested action. When you look at Barack Obama and John McCain campaigning for President today with Election Day drawing near, you realize their inspired emotional connection they’re extracting on all of us. They’re living their lives to inspire you to vote for them, which in turn will allocate them the control over your country.

How do they do it?

They instill fear in you, sometimes for legitimate reasons or other times to dictate. Once you’re scared you scramble for a new direction and you’re likely to turn to your elected President or Prime Minister because that person has the biggest title in the country. The reason you turn to the commander and chief is because you were inspired to do so during a crucial time early on – the campaign trail. Depending on if that commander and chief stays true to his or her word during their time in office will determine whether or not you will remain inspired on following their word.

Bill Clinton inspired us all during the 1990’s when he took a country in great deficits and overturned the economy into one of the richest and most stable economies in the world, with its biggest surplus in history. Clinton stayed true to his word from words spoken on his campaign trail in 1992 and that’s why we followed him, and in most cases we still do today.

Bill Clinton was elected in 1992 and brought into the oval office in 1993 because the United States was entering a recession at the time under George H. W. Bush, and there were fears of that transcending into another Great Depression. Bill Clinton was able to use that fear and use proceeding Bush’s track record of some of the greatest deficits in US history as a way to inspire Americans for their vote, and it worked despite Clinton being “young” in comparison and “inexperienced.”

Fast forward to 2001, George W. Bush was elected into the oval office and he sure did not fall short from his father’s footsteps. He took America’s largest grossing era and detracted the economy down to its now largest deficit in history. Both George Bush’s have set records during their Presidential terms, and they’re both gutter performances. The United States are trillions of dollars in debt and are in a current recession, which brinks yet another Great Depression during a time of “economic crisis,” that is now spreading worldwide.

I don’t know how Bush, Jr. was able to do it, but he beat out his daddy on this one!

So who can fix this next round of recessionary times in America? Do we stick with the Republicans and pick John McCain because he wants to tax the middle class and keep rich families and corporations on top as they are? Or do we want to once again turn to the Democrats, the quintessential saviors of the 1990’s, and elect Barack Obama because he wants to reform America and cut taxes for 95% of Americans, while implementing standard taxation rules for the rich?

In 1992, George H. W. Bush was planning to enforce further military use in the Middle Eastern regions upon re-election, in continuing a Gulf War during recessionary time; however, the Americans said no by electing a new face in Bill Clinton to repair the economy.

Americans can basically copy and paste the history of 1992 and insert it into 2008, because now John McCain wants to continue George W. Bush’s plan in the Middle East by attacking Iran. Furthermore main staple countries like Russia, China, and Korea are on McCain’s target list while Barack Obama rather set his attentions on the fast sinking economy.

This is an example of history never being so important like it is right now folks. You can say no to John McCain today, just like you said no to George H. W. Bush in 1992, by electing the “young” Barack Obama, who has often been deemed “inexperienced.” Obama definitely cannot overturn the deficits into greens across the board during a 4-year term, but he can set America on the right track of surplus with the help of Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden, a man with over thirty years of involvement in politics. After the first term, the second term would be the time of economical surplus once again for America.

I have warned you all already that if you do choose to vote John McCain as your next US President, you will have to be prepared for the absolute worst. McCain would be continuing off the Bush path, essentially serving a 4-year extension of George W. Bush.

President Bush has already started the preliminary stages of a potential World War III by invading Iraq in 2003, and that war is still on-going. Bush has also in recent weeks invaded Pakistan and Syria. Let us not forget that a tie in with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has also been brought to forefront in regards to Georgia’s attack on Russia in August 2008 that prompted the Russian invasion in Georgia. Apparently President George W. Bush wanted to antagonize Russia into another war, and that immediately brought up fears of a new Cold War.

With all these future wars in sight during a John McCain Presidential run, why would you in your right mind vote for him and the Republican Party? McCain takes great pride in fighting a war, it’s what inspires him into thinking he’s a great patriot of America when really he would be sending more young men and women down to the depths of hell.

You have to ask yourself this question. Whose motives inspire you more? John McCain, who will continue to tax you in large scales while fighting countries around the world with the use of military force, or Barack Obama, who looks to change the financial direction of America through democracy as Bill Clinton did during the 1990’s?

Barack Obama delivers that captivating subjectivity that should surely lure your vote, because your vote should be one subjected towards a better America and a better world. History is on Barack Obama’s side for this one.

TNA Wrestling = Politics

Hi everyone, I would first like to wish everyone a very Happy Halloween! It's always a great occasion to enjoy some chocolate and candies, watch the kids go trick-or-treating, while watching the fireworks go off.

As we all know the 2008 US Presidential Election Day is drawing very near as we are just 4 days away. Come Tuesday, we will find out whether Barack Obama or John McCain will be winning the majority of electoral votes from Americans coast to coast to become the 44th United States President.

After an enjoyable TNA iMPACT! episode on Spike TV last night, I decided to visit TNAwrestling.com and I was pleasantly surprised to see the latest 51-minute TNA Spin Cycle show on YouTube to be about politics. Usually in the world of professional wrestling they like to hide any personal and/or political beliefs behind the fabric of a wrestler’s on-screen gimmick, but this TNA Spin Cycle episode was a different occasion.

Hosted by Jeremy Borash, a panel of TNA wrestlers took their seats at the roundtable to discuss issues between Barack Obama and John McCain. Again, I was very surprised to see the positions that these wrestlers had taken. Being that I used to work in the business, specifically with TNA, I know that political topics were never discussed, and if they were it was never on the job site. After now learning of their true beliefs and where these specific wrestlers stand within the political brass of not only Democrats and Republicans, but also an entire united country with the future in mind, I definitely have a new outlook.

The wrestlers on the show included former WWE Champion and legendary hardcore wrestler, Mick Foley, along with the current TNA Legends Champion, and former WWE and WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Booker T, with former 3-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, AJ Styles, and finally BG James, a former member of the famed D-Generation X faction in the WWE.

When watching the program, it will become very apparent to you where these men stand politically. Mick Foley is the Democrat, who weighs both sides of the ticket very thoroughly, respectively, and knowledgeably. Booker T joins Foley in that sense where he “get’s it.” Booker understands what's right, and as a Democrat he does not hold back behind any falsified facts like Republicans tend to do. BG James weighs both sides respectively as well, but he’s a man of tradition and that’s why he’s on the Republican side.

AJ Styles was quite the surprise for me since he’s a man that came from nothing. He was living in a trailer park from the beginning of time in his life, and now he’s a celebrity wrestler who says he does not want to be taxed because he’s worked his butt off to get to where he is. He just sounded very immature to me and I quickly understood that AJ was not looking out for the best interests for America, but rather AJ was looking out for AJ and AJ Styles only.

Mick Foley quickly berated AJ by stating that when you go to a place like Africa as he has done, you instantly realize that America is a very fortunate country to be living in for obvious reasons. Foley cited that as a well off person like himself, he has no remorse in spending a few extra tax dollars if it means a better America like the Clinton era. Foley even questioned AJ Styles on why he would not want to help others with his wealth.

Mick Foley put it best when he said, “In the 90’s, I was doing the Clinton strut,” but in the 2000’s he’s been doing the “Bush stagger.”

Foley went onto to say anoher quick funny liner in how the plumbing industry has become so mainstream because of folks like John McCain bringing in a random Joe like “Joe the Plumber,” into his campaign. Besides the comedic cycle of discussion though, Mick Foley supplied very accurate information for reasons on why you should vote for Barack Obama, and he even cited past events of when he met John McCain personally. Even though he has met McCain and respects McCain, he largely disagrees with all of his tactics that have really changed the McCain of old where he was a well respected man in the media. Foley ultimately said though that he would have never vote for McCain today just like he never did in the past.

Booker T brought up a good point as well with how Republican analysts on CNN, FOX News, or on any other means of news broadcasts, always come off looking fake. Fake in the fact that they always have that cheery permanent smile in comparison to a Democrat on the program. This disgusts Booker T because all the Republican analysts are doing is smiling to try and cover up the lies they’re spitting out.

While accusations like that lack proper substance for argument, it is rather amusing since the Republican smiling fact is something I always notice on TV.

Though this blog does deviate a bit from my more serious blogs on politics, this video from TNA Wrestling is just an example in how all sorts of media outlets are getting involved with the US Presidential Election this year. This is what makes this Election the most important election in United States history because everyone wants to invest an interest this time due to the biggest drop in deficits in US history, which were perpetrated by Republican President George W. Bush.

The roundtable discussion in the video provided below is an extremely great perception of views from wrestlers you watch today or grew up watching, so I suggest you take a look and even take a look if you’re not a wrestling fan too. The views from former WWE Champion, Mick Foley, are views that remind me of Michael Moore, and they’re views that I definitely agree with too.

On a closing note, I would like to say that Jesse Ventura did it in Minnesota by becoming Governor, so who’s to say that Mick Foley can’t become a future Governor? Call me crazy, but I think Mick Foley would make a GREAT future Governor!

What If? What if you can make a change?

What if you could input yourself into an equation that results in social uplift?

Social uplift can be attributed towards any case. Say for example you were giving spare change to that person in desperate need. Or why not give that person some new shoes to replace the ragged one’s that person displays on the streets?

Would you be happy with yourself, or was it a waste of time that took away your precious personal time?

Barack Obama will apply himself towards a social uprising for not only America, but also the world. John McCain will continue off of George W. Bush in perpetrating selfish acts non-related to you.

What if you vote for Barack Obama?

Would you simply be happier with Barack Obama, and if so why? What does the person on the streets in need of spare change and shoes have to do with voting for Barack Obama?

It has to do with everything because Obama plans to do the same deed to each and every one of you.

We don’t know for sure if Barack Obama is the right man in charge until he is elected, but we can trust him because of the social uplift he has already established early on through his speeches and attentive care. He’s dignified in working for America, he’s inspirational, and he’s passionate for helping you financially, economically, and socially in regards to education, health care, energy, and in your overall way of life.

On the flip coin, you will see John McCain who has not yet provided one valid reason to vote for him. All he can state are made up falsehood facts of Barack Obama. Is that Presidential material to reverse the economic slide in America?

Bear this question in mind when voting: Do you want a selfish dirty fighter with his own agenda as President, or do you want a clean man who will make the necessary calculated decisions to ensure a life full of prosperity for all Americans?

The answer is rather simple. Make that deed for change come Election Day and the truth of Barack Obama shall be revealed when he becomes the 44th President of the United States of America and returns the favour with many more deeds to you.

Terrorist Antics Played By USA – Future World War Or World Peace? Yesterday on October 26, 2008, two of four US helicopters landed in Syria with eight soldiers embarking on the first ever US-led attack on Syrian soil.

Israel claims to have no connection to such attacks, as they are only focused on Iran and Russia at the moment. Syria has never been part of the equation for them, much less the United States, and this is why this attack seems puzzling at first glance.

The death toll is now up to 9, with at least 4 of them being children. Reports are also surfacing that 14 more Syrian civilians are wounded by the US-led attack. After the impromptu invasion, US helicopters left the scene with all their soldiers aboard. So why the sudden attack out of nowhere yesterday?

It’s rather simple folks. President George W. Bush is trying to amend a constitutional right to suspend the 2008 US Presidential Election, and he can do so in a time where the US is actively combating in three wars with military force. If President Bush can secure a third war next to Iraq and Afghanistan, we won’t see Barack Obama or John McCain next Tuesday on Election Day – we’ll see Bush declaring a suspension till further notice.

Last week alone, the US invaded Pakistan with two attacks, killing 20 innocent civilians. No adequate reasoning for these attacks were been made besides the usual label of ‘war on terror’. What did Pakistan do to the United States that prompted these attacks?

The answer is nothing, and that applies to Syria too. Despite being attacked though, Syria has decided against using military force to attain revenge for the sole reason of these attacks taking place far to close to Election Day.

Though it does seem rather unlikely, the possible suspending of the election is factual truth. This can happen and you can sure bet that President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney are on the drawing board trying to work their magic as promptly as they ever have for this one. The last thing they want is a Democratic nominee like Barack Obama coming in and getting a hold of all their book keeping records, the largely stretched records of falsehood I might add. These are records that when exposed will have some criminal justice consequences appointed for towards the respective men and women in charge, and there’s no doubt in my mind about that one.

If President Bush cannot suspend the Election in time, then his last bet is to try and stir enough social unrest in the world with hopes of that giving John McCain the nod as being the next President. This would be his last hope because Republicans believe that during a time of war, John McCain is best suited to take charge proceeding George W. Bush.

I tend to disagree, and while Republicans are entitled to believe whatever they may, everyone must realize the facts of the matter:

Voting for McCain means you’re voting for a quintessential World War III.
Voting for Obama means you’re voting for World Peace.

Election Day on November 4, 2008 will arguably be the most important date in US history and it’s because the world’s fate is in the hands of the next United States President. We've already been punctured with the global economic crisis, so take your pick if you want to further that wound with World War III or preferably repair it with World Peace.
