ORGANIZING FOR AMERICA - Have You Seen This Video Yet?

Organizing for America - Have you seen This Video Yet? More then ever, you need it now to re-kindle the spirit that lived in us all prior to the election.

We need to get this video out in the public eye in a big way to re-kindle the spirit of optimism that existed prior to the election of President Obama.

Yes We Can (Change our Destiny) that is what we need to understand.

Post the inaugural, post the election, post the optimism fading, post the Republican's battle of the wills, it's sad to see our country slowly slipping back to the bad ol' days when the President is simply a news curiosity, just some guy in the White House. Barack Obama is more then that. He is the change we all voted for.

When I get pessimistic that such talk as the above is simply the talk of a dreamer, I hear President Obama speak. For instance, his speech at Notre Dame. It was historic, incredible, inspiring. it reminded me why I was so filled with hope on November 4th, 2008. When I hear him speak, I still get uplifted and remember who is in the White House.

But let us not forget the obvious, he's a human being, he can't correct everything at once, he has information now as President about our country we will never know and he is, I am confident, desperately trying to balance it all. I have not agreed with every move, espeically preventitive detention, but should we need or expect to agree with everything that anyone does? I agree with most and that's good enough for me to be a great supporter of his. I speak out when I don't agree with President Obama or anyone, but that doesn't mean I don't ardently support President Obama. In the past, I agreed with very little our Presidents have done, so this is an extremely refreshing change, especially at a time in our history which is unparalleled in it's complexity and danger to our society, our country and our world.

My only personal regret is that the video I directed and produced to keep the dreams alive, Yes We Can (Change our Destiny) has not been endorsed by Organizing for America and posted on its home page (or endorsed by Oprah or some such celebrity that can bring instant distribution to this cause, this quest to make optimsm and involvement the norm). This video should be endorsed by someone or some organization of such stature. It should be the rallying cry that we all remember to say to ourselves every day, that "YES WE CAN CHANGE OUR DESTINY." If we realize that simple truth, that we are in control of our destinies, we will work hard for change. We will become involved. Pessimism occurs when we believe we aren't in control, when we believe that hope is lost, when we believe that we can't make a difference. But the election proved how much we can change the world, how much we can accomplish when we act in unity with hope and optimism, when our world collectively believes that YES WE CAN CHANGE OUR DESTINY.

I have tried to move on, to concentrate on other causes, problems and issues in our world and my life, to not continue to push so actively to get this video "out there" more. But every time I lose hope and become pessimistic about our world, I listen to my own words in that video and I realize that Yes I can Change My Destiny and the world's destiny, that I can be part of that, that I'm not just a weak individual without a voice. I'm just as capable of changing our world as anyone. Ghandi, Rosa Parks, Mother Theresea, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Maria Montessori, Jonas Salk, Orville & Wilbur Wright, Barack Obama, yes, these are great people, but they are people, regular individuals that began with simply a dream, to change our world. When you look back through history, it's not countries or corporations that created transformative change, it was individuals. The power of the individual is stunning.

If anyone out there in the administration of Organizing for America listening please take a moment to watch this video. It's only 5 minutes. I'm a professional filmmaker, I promise you, it will be worth your time. This video was made as my service to America. But with "only" 130,000 + views (which is teeny tiny in the world of YouTube) which occurred mostly around January 20, 2008, this video is not inspiring anyone anymore. It could be inspiring millions right now to stand up and be part of the solution, not the problem, to realize one's own civic opportunity and responsibility, if Organizing for America would simply endorse this video and place it on their home page as a permanent fixture of inspiration.

Do not think I do this for any fame. I don't even want credit for this film. This project was entirely pro-bono and continues to be so. I simply want to help before my time on this Earth is over.

If you want to see more of what I do with film to try to help, please visit my "political activist" site (e.g. where i try to make a difference) My "MBMPRO" YouTube Channel

and the YouTube channel for My Production Company, MBM Productions International

Sincerely,

Steve Sulkin - Director & Activist...simply trying to make a difference

CEO, MBM PRODUCTIONS INT'L

ALL FOOTAGE IN THIS VIDEO WAS EITHER CREATED BY MYSELF AND MY PRODUCTION COMPANY, MBM, OR, AS IN THE CASE OF THE BARACK OBAMA FOOTAGE, WAS LICENSED THROUGH A STOCK HOUSE AND I HAVE FULL RIGHTS TO USE IT IN PERPETUITY.

Obama's majestic triumph tempered by heartbreaking Election Day setbacks to gays and lesbians

By Steve Charing

Senior Political Analyst

November 4, 2008 marked a transformational day in American history. With the election of the first African-American as president of the United States, the world, all of a sudden, became closer and a bit more unified. People were rejoicing in five continents. Although supporters of John McCain and Sarah Palin understandably may not have felt euphoric when the networks declared Barack Obama president at 11:00 p.m. EDT, I sure did.

But my elation was doused not that long afterwards, as three gay marriage bans and one anti-gay adoption initiative all apparently succeeded, reminding me that the country still has not taken that next big step.

For Obama, this was a contest that will keep political scientists and book publishers busy for decades. Barack Obama, a relative neophyte with a foreign-sounding name, rose from virtual obscurity and defeated a powerful Clinton machine to emerge as the Democratic Party's nominee. Then he took on John McCain with his vaunted military and congressional experience, the embedded racism in the country, as well as the Republican Party's fear and smear operation to win in an Electoral College landslide. In the process, Obama turned several red states blue with surgical precision.

There was as much good luck involved as there was skill. A perfect storm of events and personalities produced raindrops filled with smiles. He mainly benefited from the disastrous presidency of George W. Bush with whom he linked to his opponent, John McCain, with relentless regularity.

McCain incomprehensibly selected Sarah Palin--the butt of numerous jokes from her obvious lack of national and international knowledge--to be his running mate. The McCain campaign failed to effectively utilize the candidate's strengths and instead defaulted to what the Republicans seem to do best: attack.

And there were no significant international crises that affected the U.S., which would have highlighted McCain's perceived strength on national security. Then came the financial meltdown in September that accentuated the incompetence of the Bush presidency and McCain's bumbling response to it.

Added to that, notable endorsements from Colin Powell and a series of other Republican conservatives, the full-throated support from his chief Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton and her husband, and the die was cast.

But oh that skill!

Obama's campaign, led by David Plouffe and David Axelrod, crafted a blueprint on how 21st century presidential campaigns should operate. Always disciplined, always on message, always consistent, Obama successfully presented himself as the "change" candidate at a time the country was thirsty for change.

The campaign eschewed public financing and using the Internet primarily, managed to raise almost three quarters of a billion dollars to launch what was nearly a 50-state campaign. This forced McCain, who accepted public financing, to spend his more limited resources defending his own turf. That was crucial in states, such as Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Colorado and North Carolina. In the end, the better campaign prevailed.

And that is good news for the LGBT community. Because now there is a much better chance for achieving non-discrimination legislation in the workplace, a Federal hate crimes bill and the repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. Expect to see openly gay and lesbian members in Obama's administration; he kept reminding voters down the stretch that the country should not be split according to "gay" and "straight" among the other dividing lines in society. No other major presidential candidate ever used such rhetoric, and he repeated it to traditionally conservative gatherings in Middle America.

But those defeats on the ballot initiatives stung like nothing else has ever before. Just as national polls were indicating a gradual positive trend towards acceptance of same-sex marriage, November 4 proved to be a startling wake-up call that so much work remains.

Ballot measures in Arizona and Florida resoundingly banned "gay marriage" in those states adding to the stockpile that has swollen since 2004. Arkansas voters sadly banned adoptions by gay couples. The ones suffering most from that decision are children.

But the biggest heartbreaker appears to be the results of Proposition 8 in California. While the votes have not been fully tallied at press time, the measure that would roll back a court decision legalizing same-sex marriage in the state, apparently is heading for passage.

Proponents of Prop 8 benefited from a major influx of funding from the Mormons, the Catholic Church and other religious entities to scare voters about the idea of two men or two women marrying. Tony Perkins, president of the virulently anti-gay Family Research Council, symbolized the religious support of the measure.

Characterizing Prop 8 as more important than the presidential election, Perkins said, "We have survived bad presidents. But many, many are convinced we will not survive this redefinition of marriage."

If Prop 8 survives the counting of absentee ballots, it will mark a staggering defeat to gays and lesbians since it was the first time rights that have been won were actually taken away. While it remains unclear if the existing same-sex marriages in California will be permitted to stand, the effects of such a setback will reverberate throughout the country.

And it mars the glistening victory of hope over fear in the election of Barack Obama.

www.SteveCharing.blogspot.com

Thanks for the commercials in Dallas!

Barack, David, and all:

Thank you so much for running TV commercials in Dallas!! I know that here in Texas we are probably a lost cause this year, but it's been really great to see the ads and feel involved. (We don't usually see this much advertising, it's awesome). If we can't send you our electoral votes, maybe we'll get a couple of Texas Republicans out of the House this year. Hopefully the state is turning from red to purple and who knows - maybe thanks to your help it will be blue in the next 10 years.

My favorite commercial in Dallas is hands-down, no question: "Same". Where at the end its John McCain on camera boasting about how he votes in lock-step with Bush over 90% of the time. Maverick? What a joke.

Since seeing the commercials I've been compelled to contribute more, when I thought I was done. Thanks again!

Barack Obama under fire for ignoring advice on how to beat John McCain

FROM THE TELEGRAPH, LONDON:

Barack Obama and his senior advisers are under fire for ignoring the advice of Democratic senators and governors who are concerned that they do not know how to beat John McCain.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/barackobama/2909844/Barack-Obama-under-fire-for-ignoring-advice-on-how-to-beat-John-McCain.html

By Tim Shipman in Washington Last Updated: 13 Sep 2008

Mr Obama has never won an electoral contest against a strong Republican candidate.

The Democratic presidential candidate's slump in the polls has sparked pointed private criticism that he is squandering a once-in-a-generation chance to win back the White House. Party elders also believe the Obama camp is in denial about warnings from Democratic pollsters that his true standing is four to six points lower than that in published polls because of hidden racism from voters - something that would put him a long way behind Mr McCain.

The Sunday Telegraph has learned that senators, governors and union leaders who have experience of winning hard-fought races in swing states have been bombarding Obamas campaign headquarters with telephone calls offering advice. But many of those calls have not been returned.

A senior Democratic strategist, who has played a prominent role in two presidential campaigns, told The Sunday Telegraph: "These guys are on the verge of blowing the greatest gimme in the history of American politics. They're the most arrogant bunch Ive ever seen. They won't accept that they are losing and they won't listen."

After leading throughout the year, Mr Obama now trails Mr McCain by two to three points in national polls. Party leaders and commentators say that the Democrat candidate spent too much of the summer enjoying his own popularity and not enough defining his positions on the economy - the number one issue for voters - or reaching out to those blue collar workers whose votes he needs if he is to beat Mr McCain.

Others concede that his trip to Europe was a distraction that enhanced his celebrity status rather than his electability on Main Street, USA.

Since Sarah Palin was unveiled as Mr McCain's running mate, the Obama camp has faced accusations that it has been pushed off message and has been limp in responding to attacks.

A Democratic National Committee official told The Sunday Telegraph: "I really find it offensive when Democrats ask the Republicans not to be nasty to us, which is effectively what Obama keeps doing. They know thats how the game is played."

Mr Obama tried to answer that critique on Friday when he responded in kind, issuing an attack advert depicting his Republican opponent as out of touch and mocking the 72-year-old Mr McCain's confession that he does not know how to use email.

He rammed home the point during a rally in New Hampshire, pointing out Mr McCains recent admission that he was divorced from some of the challenges of ordinary Americans. Mr Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe, called it the first day of the rest of the campaign. But that was the fourth time in the last nine months that Mr Obamas team have been forced to declare that the gloves are coming off.

And Mr Plouffe's dismissal of Democratic doubts as hand-wringing and bed-wetting only served to reinforce the growing doubts about what some see as a bunker mentality among Obamas inner circle - where outside advice, even from highly experienced people, is not welcomed.

The Democratic strategist told The Sunday Telegraph: "They think they know best. They don't return calls. There are governors and senators calling them up with ideas. They don't get back to them.

"These are senior people from the border states and the South who know how to beat Republicans, and they're being ignored. They ignored everyone during the primaries and they came through it, so they think they can do the same again."

Mr Obama has never won an electoral contest against a strong Republican candidate. David Axelrod, his chief strategist has been hailed as a political genius for beating the Clinton machine, but Democrats now point out that he has never run a successful campaign in the heartland states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Virginia, which will decide the election. His expertise is in mobilising young, educated and black voters in urban areas.

Mark Cunningham of the New York Post summed up the private views of many: "If it suddenly seems like the Obama campaign doesn't have any idea what it's doing, maybe that's because it doesn't."

Party elders are also studying internal polling material which warns the Obama camp that his true standing is worse than it appears in polls because voters lie to polling companies about their reluctance to vote for a black candidate.

The phenomenon is known in the US as the Bradley effect, after Tom Bradley, a black candidate for governor of California who lost after leading comfortably in polls.

The strategist said: "I've seen memos where they've been told to factor in four to six points for the Bradley effect, but they're in denial about it. They say the polls also underestimate the enthusiasm of young voters and African Americans and they believe that balances things out. But that's a wing and a prayer stuff. There's previous evidence for the Bradley effect."

Other Democrats are openly mocking of Mr Obama's much vaunted "50-state strategy", in which he spends money campaigning throughout the US in the hope that it will force Mr McCain to divert funds to previously safe states.

Critics say a utopian belief in bringing the nation together has trumped the cold electoral calculus that is necessary to triumph in November.

Doug Schoen, a former pollster for Bill Clinton, last week declared it insanity not to concentrate resources on the swing states. The Democratic strategist said: "My Republican friends think its mad. Before Sarah Palin came along we were investing money in Alaska, for Christ's sake, that could have been spent in Ohio and Pennsylvania. "It assumes Republicans are stupid and, when it comes to winning elections, they're not."

The one thing everyone agrees the Obama camp have woken up to is the toxic effect on their chances of Mrs Palin's arrival on the national scene. Polls show that white women voters, attracted to her down home virtues, now support Mr McCain by a margin of 12 points, the same lead among white women that George W. Bush enjoyed over John Kerry in 2004. Until recently, Mr Obama led among that group of voters by six points.

A senior aide to one of the most powerful Democrats in the House of Representatives voiced the fears of many: "Palin doesn't just play to the Republican base. She has much broader appeal."

The aide said that her repeated mockery of Mr Obama's boasts about his time as a community organiser in Chicago are "the most effective criticisms of Barack Obama we have yet seen." He said: "Americans in small and medium size towns dont know what the hell a community organiser is. Real Americans graduate from high school or college and get a job that pays a wage. Campus radicals go off and organise a community."

Peggy Noonan, the former Reagan speechwriter, blamed the defection of women voters from Mr Obama on the atom bomb of ritual abuse by left-wing bloggers and Democratic officials, painting Mrs Palin as a bad mother and religious weirdo.

Ms Noonan wrote: "The snobbery of it, the meanness of it, reminded the entire country, for the first time in a decade, what it is they don't like about the Left."

The Republican strategist Dan Schnur said that the effect was to repel blue collar, family-oriented voters. "They didn't like Obama in the primaries and voted for Hillary. And they still don't like him now so they're voting for Palin.

"Obama can still win these voters over, but his difficulty in establishing an emotional connection with them is probably his greatest challenge between now and election day." On Thursday Mr Obama did take advice from Bill Clinton, who is understood to have suggested ways to show those workers that he cares, an area where the former president excelled.

But it is a measure of his plight that the man who derailed the ambitions of Mrs Clinton, the most powerful woman in Democratic politics, now needs help from her husband to overcome the popularity of another alpha female who may be an even greater risk to his White House ambitions.

Community organizing is how ordinary people respond...

...to out-of-touch politicians and their failed policies.
I wasn't planning on sending you something tonight. But if you saw what I saw from the Republican convention, you know that it demands a response. I saw John McCain's attack squad of negative, cynical politicians. They lied about Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and they attacked you for being a part of this campaign. But worst of all — and this deserves to be noted — they insulted the very idea that ordinary people have a role to play in our political proces. [...]

The title and quotes are from an email from David Plouffe referring to the hate fest formerly known as the Republican National Convention.

News Articles, and a Plea from David Plouffe, Barack's Campaign Manager

Hello everyone,

First off, Barack's plan for Iraq, an op-ed in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/14/opinion/14obama.html?ref=opinion

An interesting Newsweek piece about Barack's religion and religious beliefs (perhaps you can share this with one of the 12% of Americans who think he is Muslim):

http://www.newsweek.com/id/145971/page/1

Here is a piece from the New Yorker on Obama's Chicago rise:

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/21/080721fa_fact_lizza?printable=true

Another piece from the New Yorker (http://www.newyorker.com/talk/comment/2008/07/21/080721taco_talk_hertzberg) on Obama's supposed flip-flops. Quoted from the story:

"Meanwhile, McCain has been busily reversing his views in highly consequential ways. He opposed the Bush tax cuts because they favored the rich; now he supports their eternal extension. He was against offshore oil drilling as not being worth the environmental damage it brings; now he’s for it, and damn the costs. He was against torture, period; now he’s against it unless the C.I.A. does it. He keeps flipping to the wrong flops. But he and Obama can both take comfort in what they’re avoiding. If they were clinging to every past position, the flip-flop police would be busting them for stubbornness and rigidity in the face of changing circumstances. Bush all over again! Flip-flops are preferable to cement shoes, especially in summertime."

And finally, David Plouffe has made a video call to donors to help make up the difference with the RNC. According to his calculations, the RNC/McCain war chest is about a $100 million. Take a look here: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/stepup?source=20080714_PV_ND_B-STCO

Behind the scenes: David Plouffe

David Plouffe is the man steering Obama's campaign

David Plouffe is smart, competitive, confident and frugal. And they say he has no intention of straying from his unconventional and audacious strategy to get Barack Obama elected. The political operative is smart, competitive, frugal and confident. And he has no intention of straying from his unconventional plan to get Obama elected.By Peter Nicholas, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
July 8, 2008 WASHINGTON -- Early in the presidential race, Hillary Rodham Clinton asked former New Jersey Sen. Robert Torricelli whether the little-known political operative running Barack Obama's longshot campaign was any good.

"I warned her," said Torricelli, who was in a position to know.

The operative, David Plouffe, had helped Torricelli win his Senate seat in 1996. It was one of the most toxic campaigns in memory -- "unrestricted chemical warfare," Rutgers political scientist Ross K. Baker called it -- and Plouffe demonstrated a talent for devising a campaign strategy, staying with it under fire and doing what it took to win.

Today, still largely unknown, the fiercely competitive 41-year-old Plouffe stands at the center of one of the best-funded, best-organized Democratic presidential campaigns ever. And just as it was against Clinton, unconventional audacity is the hallmark of his plan to beat John McCain -- audacity and Plouffe's characteristic determination to keep close tabs on every phase of the campaign while maintaining one of the lowest profiles in national politics.

Best Memo ever

Just read this memo from David Plouffe, and you should too. It's only like the best memo ever. I love how the Obama campaign only has to rely on reality in order to make their point that the Clinton campaign is shady and that Obama is winning.

My favorite passage: "The key is not who wins the states that the Clinton campaign thinks are important. Throughout this entire process, they have cherry-picked states, diminished caucuses, and moved the goal posts to create a shifting, twisted rationale for why they should win the nomination despite winning fewer primaries, fewer states, fewer delegates, and fewer votes."

Obama '08!

Plouffe Comes to NC

The Obama Team hit NC Thursday to start laying the groundwork for their campaign operations here. By standing in for a well-connected friend, I managed to attend. We heard a great presentation from Obama campaign manager David Plouffe and some of their top fundraising staff.

Under the Dome already scooped me with gossip on some of the heavy-hitters who were there. But I want to tell you about some of the more interesting details.

Email from David Plouffe

David Plouffe sent out this email today:

Sarah --

As you've probably heard, there could be a wildcard in the race for the Democratic nomination.

We firmly believe that the candidate who has won the most pledged delegates -- the result of having more voters in more places supporting your campaign -- will be the Democratic nominee.

But to be safe, we are working to attract the support of "superdelegates" -- party officials and Democratic officeholders from across the country -- who also have a vote at the Democratic National Convention.

You may already know some superdelegates -- they include senators, governors, and even former presidents and vice presidents. But many others are ordinary people who hold positions in the state and local party operations.

These nearly 800 superdelegates will vote alongside the more than 3,000 pledged delegates who are chosen in the various state primaries and caucuses. The candidate that gets a majority of all delegates (superdelegates and pledged delegates combined) will be the Democratic nominee for president.

Right now, Barack is ahead in the contest for pledged delegates. We've won 23 contests out of the 35 that have been held so far -- including the last 8 in a row. And with our decisive victories in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC on Tuesday, we now lead by more than 135 pledged delegates in the race for the Democratic nomination.

While we intend to continue winning states and expanding our lead among the pledged delegates, and believe that will likely ensure that Barack is the Democratic nominee, we're also doing the work of reaching out to superdelegates and making sure as many as possible support Barack Obama.

Here's where you can play a key role.

Our work so far has taught us one important lesson: that your personal story about why you support Barack Obama is often the most powerful persuasion tool for someone who's undecided. That's true whether that undecided voter is your neighbor or a superdelegate.

The story of where you're from, what brought you into the political process, the issues that matter to you, and why you became part of this movement has the potential to inspire someone who could cast a deciding vote in this contest.

Our staff will compile stories from supporters like you and make them a key part of the conversation with superdelegates as Barack asks for their support.

Share your story to help persuade superdelegates now:

http://my.barackobama.com/superdelegates

I've received a lot of email from folks asking how best to help with the superdelegate effort, and this is it.

Your note, combined with those of other Obama supporters, will tell the story of an extraordinary movement of ordinary people -- a story with a common thread of hope that becomes all the more powerful when it brings together the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our supporters.

Together we're building something historic, and your story can help make someone else a part of it.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,

David

David Plouffe

Campaign Manager

Obama for America

McCain vs. Obama and the costs to run Government.

Dear David Plouffe & David Axelrod:

The campaign is hurtling fast forward but controls are necessary to keep it grounded. Fiscal responsibility will soon become a focus, if not already. McCain is now pushing his less than $100-150 Billion plan versus your closer to $200 Billion plan. I understand that the plans are never quite finished, but this difference should be addressed, if not also modified.

The U.S. population is ready for change, but we are still looking for conservative government spending. Be prepared for disseminating clear concise arguments that demonstrate your plan's RESPONSIBLE spending. The Economy is suffering and George Bush's government spending programs have our U.S. Debt skyrocketing. It is clear that his administration, at the very least, shares strong fault in our present economy woes.

The Obama campaign must show how his plan, at its core, is fundamentally different and better. However, the more expensive Obama's plan is over McCain's plan will make this much more difficult to explain.

How close is Senator Obama to Warren Buffett or Alan Greenspan?

Barack Obama Wins a Handful on Super Tuesday

The amazing news has come forth from the results on Super Tuesday. Barack Obama has won in thirteen states, which includes Illinois. Here is the breakdown of the Super Tuesday results.

Here is the statement from Campaign Manager David Plouffe:

By winning a majority of delegates and a majority of the states, Barack Obama won an important Super Tuesday victory over Senator Clinton in the closest thing we have to a national primary. From Colorado and Utah in the west to Georgia and Alabama in the south to Senator Clinton’s backyard in Connecticut, Obama showed that he can win the support of Americans of every race, gender, and political party in every region of the country. That’s why he’s on track to win Democratic nomination, and that’s why he’s the best candidate to defeat John McCain in November.

Also, you can watch Senator Obama's Super Tuesday speech in Chicago.

Additionally, here is his message:

The votes will be counted into the night and into tomorrow, but today we won states and we won delegates in every part of the country.

As of right now, we have won more states and delegates than Senator Clinton. It's a remarkable achievement we can all be proud of.

Tonight, we know one thing for sure -- our time has come, our movement is real, and change is coming to America.

At this moment in history, the stakes are too high and the challenges too great to play the same Washington game with the same Washington players and expect a different result.

This time must be different.

There will be those who say it cannot be done. But we know what we have seen and what we believe -- that when ordinary people come together we can still do extraordinary things.

Yes, we can.

Thank you so much,

Barack

Thank you to Barack Obama and everyone who have made this happen.

Statement from David Plouffe

Statement from David Plouffe

Barack Obama Campaign Manager

We currently have reports of over 200 separate incidents of trouble at caucus sites, including doors being closed up to thirty minutes early, registration forms running out so people were turned away, and ID being requested and checked in a non-uniform fashion. This is in addition to the Clinton campaign's efforts to confuse voters and call into question the at-large caucus sites which clearly had an affect on turnout at these locations. These kinds of Clinton campaign tactics were part of an entire week's worth of false, divisive, attacks designed to mislead caucus-goers and discredit the caucus itself.

We will investigate all of these thoroughly and would encourage anyone who had concern about actions at the caucus sites to call (866) 675-2008.

Dear David Plouffe, It's Time to Campaign and Confront Fear and Confusion

Dear Mr. Plouffe,

I would like to thank you for reading this post. I have been a life long Republican for as long as I can remember. I can say for certain that Senator Obama has helped change my heart and outlook regarding America’s future. I see greatness and potential in him to the likes that I think that he has the ability to become our countries next Abraham Lincoln. This says allot coming from a man that has been a die hard GOP'er my whole life. I see that you have your hand on the pulse of the American people and our need for change and unity. You have masterfully colored your marketing banners red and blue to have the highest demographical effect. This was the key to piercing the veil that needed to catapult Senator Obama into the race for president. There is something I see however that is now attacking him with cunning and resolve; the spirit of confusion and fear. These to forces tend to work hand in hand trying to create doubt and uncertainty among reasonably sensible voters. I think you and I could agree where most of the sources are initiating these attacks (The Lady Candidate). I cannot help but remember an old saying that we do not war against flesh and blood, but against the principalities and powers of the air. I humbly and with great resolve ask that you advise Senator Obama to confront these two forces directly and immediately. The Senator should not engage Senator Clinton directly when he speaks about this but rather directly to the principle forces which are behind the attack which are fear and confusion themselves. Senator Obama has not lost his magic or momentum. The best way to silence confusion and fear is to shine a light on it and confront it by naming it directly. I could only try to understand the pressure when dealing with the vast and unrelenting marketing machine of Washington that you have to deal with on a daily basis. David, the truth is, is that you can help steer this campaign. You are the manager and the chief advisor to the next great leader of our time. That makes you very unique and equipped to do this job. Even the greatest generals have need of intelligence officers and reconnaissance teams. I live here in Greenville SC and will do whatever I can to lift up the leadership you have placed here to have the maximum impact for the campaign. I thank you again for reading this and I am praying for a great victory.

Sincerely,

Joshua Greenwood

Chairman/CEO

Alexander Gloabal Media and Senior Advisor to The S&P 500

Campaign Manager David Plouffe on Barack in SC

This morning, Campaign Manager David Plouffe held a conference call with a number of reporters and discussed the State of Barack Obama's movement around the country.

The whole presentation contains a lot of really interesting facts about Barack's electability and growing national support despite the millions outside groups are spending on behalf of other candidates, but it also contains information about just how strong our campaign is right here in South Carolina.

Check out these slides:

Thank you

Late last night your extraordinary efforts closed the gap in resources between us and the Clinton campaign. We had expected that the drive would continue into next week, but the overwhelming response from so many of you accelerated that timetable.

The success of this drive is a clear example of how we can change politics together. Tens of thousands of ordinary people stepping up to close the gap, determined to make your voice heard above that of the special interests and Washington lobbyists.

Since this election began, you have made our campaign more competitive than anyone believed we could or would be. Now that we're in the home stretch it's going to become even more clear that you can help determine the outcome of this election.

People out there are hungry for change that they can believe in, and we know the more people learn about Barack Obama, the better we do. Your time, your dollars and your willingness to reach out to people on behalf of this cause will make the difference.

The first contest will likely occur in less than 80 days. We look forward to working with you in these closing weeks to elect a President we can trust and believe in who will unify us and will connect people back with their government.

Thanks for all you do.

Campaign Update

I sent this out to supporters and I wanted to make sure that you saw it, too.

----------------------
Much has happened in the month since our last report to you on the status of Barack Obama's Presidential Campaign - and in that month, we continued to strengthen the campaign and Barack continues to demonstrate he is the only candidate with the strength, character and ideas to fundamentally change our broken politics and make the progress at home and abroad that America so desperately needs.

Our plan has always called for a focus on the early caucus and primary states, where this race will be shaped.

And now, as the Washington insiders focus on irrelevant and wildly inconsistent national polls, there are strong signs in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina of the growing power and potential of this candidacy.
