Public Tickets Available for Inaugural Parade5,000 Bleacher Seats Lining Parade Route to Go On Sale
Washington, D.C. -- The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced today that 5,000 tickets for the 56th Inaugural Parade will go on sale to the public at 1:00 PM EST today for $25 each. Tickets will allow spectators access to bleachers along the historic parade route from the Capitol to the White House. Tickets will be available for sale at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 202.397.7328, 410.547.7328 or 703.573.7328.
Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
"We are very pleased to make these tickets available to the public as part of our commitment to holding the most open and accessible Inauguration in history," said Presidential Inaugural Committee Executive Director Emmett S. Beliveau. "The Inaugural Parade is a celebration of America, and we are working to make sure that as many citizens as possible can take part in this historic tradition."
Thousands of spectators will line the 1.7 mile parade route as the new President and Vice President are escorted from the Capitol to the White House by over 13,000 parade participants. Over 90 music, cultural and community groups will join representatives from our Armed Forces in the historic parade, which concludes at the presidential reviewing stand, where the President and Vice President will watch the processional with their families.
Tickets are limited to four per person for purchase. Tickets are not required to view the parade, but the purchase of tickets will guarantee spectators a seated spot along the parade route. Ticket holders must be in their seats no later than 1:00 PM EST on January 20th. Standing room will be available along Pennsylvania Avenue on a first come, first serve basis.
Earlier this month the PIC announced that hundreds of free parade tickets were being made available to Washington, DC students and their families.
DC residents can visit www.pic2009.org/page/s/dcstudentessay for more information on how to obtain those tickets. For the latest information on the 2009 Presidential Inauguration, please visit www.pic2009.org.

WASHINGTON – With his office getting crushed with requests for inaugural tickets, U.S. Rep. John Conyers has decided to give his out via a lottery.
Conyers’ spokeswoman, Karen Morgan, says the Detroit and Washington offices will be taking requests until the close of business – about 5 p.m. – on Friday, Jan. 2, with the winning names to be drawn Saturday. Winners of the inaugural tickets will be notified by phone or email. To date, the Detroit Democrat’s office has received about 2,500 requests from people – mostly in his district – for some 8,000 tickets to see Barack Obama inaugurated Jan. 20 as the first African-American U.S. president. Each congressman gets 190 tickets – and some of Conyers’ are already spoken for – so the office is trying to limit requests to two tickets each, though in some cases more might be awarded. Those interested should call Conyers’ office in Detroit at 313-961-5670, or in Washington at 202-225-5126, to leave their requests. And they should be sure to leave their name, address, email and telephone number, too.

YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwspAagg8uwHow this movement began: 53 year old Steven Miles Sulkin, Chicago producer and founder of the "Yes We Can (Change our Destiny) Project," was so encouraged by the phenomenon of the 10’s of millions of people who were inspired by President Elect Obama to bring about change to our world, that he has put aside nearly all of his responsibilities and has vowed to devote himself to help keep that potent force alive. He believes our world needs us now more then ever, to, as the famous quote says, "ask not what our country can do for us…"The group's mission statement was inspired by what President Elect Obama said on November 4th at Grant Park: We have an opportunity to put our hands “on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope for a better day.”Project #1: Create a video that begins to bend the arc of our immediate future by inspiring millions to understand that if they act together as a group to help our world, that “Yes We Can (Change our Destiny).”Spurred on by supporters and friends, self-funded with money he doesn't have and shouldn't have spent, Steven brought in 40 of the nation's top video artists, musicians and "philosophical confidants" and on December 7th at The Chicago Recording Company, created in a marathon 17 hour session, the "Yes We Can (Change our Destiny)" video. YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwspAagg8uwThe film is so compelling that it is already becoming a visual and musical rallying cry for change post the election, much as Will.I.Am's video inspired a nation to bring about change before the election.Steven is confident that this video along with other events in Washington D.C. during the inaugural will re-ignite the 4 million people coming to D.C., and that in turn will re-engage the country and the world to bring about real change our world so desperately needs.Steven will be attending the inaugural in Washington D.C. He wants no fame or fortune. He just wants to make an impact on this world and feels that this project is his calling; that his entire life has been on a path for this moment.PRESS EVENT: Yes We Can (Change our Destiny)Thursday, January 8th, 2008Chicago Recording Company232 E. First, I would like to start off by congratulating Obama and all fellow Democrats. This is a great time and I look forward to much change as I am sure everyone else does. I feel it was an incredible campaign and I truly admire all the efforts and visions that went into it. The way that everyone leveraged the modern day treasures like social networking, blogs and other online site and spaces for this campaign was truly incredible.
Now onto a topic that has me wondering: What's wrong with selling Inauguration Tickets?
I have read many articles since the election results regarding the demand for tickets to the Inauguration. The demand clearly outweights the supply for this event as this is going to be a truly historic event and will certainly be a huge part of our history. There are going to be 240,000 tickets made available and will not be dispersed until close to the event to try to limit reselling. My brokerage National Event Company sells event tickets to all sports concerts and theatre eveents and is not going to be reselling these but I still have to ask the question, What is wrong with reselling these tickets?
Every single person who would like to attend this event will not be able to get tickets. it is physically impossible and will be an incredibly political procedure. So if I am someone who was fortunate enough to obtain 4 tickets and only need 2, why can't I resell them to someone who is so anxious to go, that they will pay money in exchange for the tickets. The tickets have physically and legally become mine and as of last I checked, you can sell virtually anything in the US. Some goods or services require a license or bond to do so, so why can't this ticket be sold with a proper license? Wasn't this the point of popular sites like Ebay where you can go and resell anything that you don't have a need for anymore?
If I win a Sony Playstation 3 for free in a contest before the item hits the retail market and people are selling these on Ebay for $1500 (although the msrp is only $399), what is the difference? I never hear anyone complain about baseball cards, collector cars, houses, etc... being sold for fair market value. Nobody is putting a gun the the consuers head and making them purchase these items. People simply want them bad enough becuase of some sort of internal or external variables that they are willing to spend up to a certain amount of money to obtain them. That is the foundation of our great country.
I would be very interested in hearing some other opinions on this, please feel free to respond either agreeing or disagreeing.
PRESIDENT INAUGURAL TICKETS are available for those who would like to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the THE 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. RSVP must be made by 15 DEC 2008. This will be an historic moment of FAITH, HOPE and UNITY. Confirm your reservations while you still can.
Some US Senators are already out of tickets. As of 15 NOV 2008, I recommend trying to connect with your local congressional representative.

UPDATE: WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), today introduced legislation prohibiting the sale and counterfeiting of inaugural tickets."The Inauguration of the President is one of the most important rituals of our democracy. The chance to witness this event should not be bought and sold like tickets to a football game," Senator Feinstein said. "This legislation is meant to immediately stop the unscrupulous behavior of those who obtain these tickets for free and then seek to profit by selling them, often at dramatically inflated prices. This bill also would target those duping the public with fraudulent tickets or promises of tickets they don't actually have."It is my hope that Congress will pass this legislation during this week's lame-duck session so that we can stop scam artists and profiteers from maligning this historic event," Senator Feinstein added. The bill would make it unlawful to sell or attempt to sell tickets to the presidential inaugural swearing-in ceremony. It also would be illegal to create a fraudulent ticket or forge a ticket to the inauguration. Those who violate the law would face fines of up to $100,000 and imprisonment for up to one year.Tickets to the 56th Inaugural Ceremonies are provided free of charge and are distributed through members of the 111th Congress and the President-elect and Vice President-elect. Tickets will not be distributed to Congressional offices until the week before the inauguration and will require in person pick-up with proper identification. No websites or other ticket outlets have inaugural swearing-in tickets to sell, despite what they may claim. Last week, Ebay/StubHub announced it would not allow the sale of inaugural swearing-in ceremony tickets on any of its websites.

Yes. The new name for the Grant Park celebration is sweeping the Nation! Or something like that. I personally like ObamaCon the best, but my friend that invented the term likes DemoCon better.
SOOO I probably didn't get tickets. And I'm seriously bummed.
I had a huge plan with my other die-hard democratic friend and my mom to go downtown and see history made... Does Chicago even have a place where 1mil. people can meet peacefully? I'm assuming that this kind of thing should have taken weeks/months of planning... But if we want the Olympics, we're going to have to get used to this kind of thing.
My e-mail remains silent. Except for the "Election Night wait list entry received" notice.
But I'm still not looking forward to breaking the news to my friend, and getting stuck at home. I might work at the local voting place... but then I can't watch CNN as the results come in! Decisions, decisions...
Did I mention how much of a political junkie I am? Caucus season was like summer vacation for me. I loved tracking poll results every other week or so. I even figured out how CNN's magic touch-screen worked. Really!
Sigh. Still bummed, though.
As we all sit biting our nails wondering what is up, having heard a number of different rumors and having gotten some info from field organizers that was either confusing or somewhat inaccurate I would suggest that you visit the link below to the 9NEWS story from last night, I'm reasonably sure their information is pretty well vetted:

In addition I would like to share a little personal background and a few thoughts:I became involved with the campaign about a year ago as did many others. I've worked with a good many of my fellow Adams county Obama supports in phone banks and door knocking and done the same through the "old" HQ down on Santa Fe as we cranked things up for the caucuses. I traveled to Iowa last November for my birthday along with Ray Rivera and several van loads of folks there to canvass as well. Since the caucuses as the Fellows and new Field Organizers have rolled into place I've worked with them on VRDs, canvassing and phone banking. During the course of the past year I've had the opportunity to welcome new folks as they have become plugged in and have had the pleasure to meet many people who have contributed far more than I have to this incredible movement.
At this point, like most all of you, I have no idea whether or not I'll get one of the cherished Community Credentials or not and that's OK. From the beginning, for me at least, it has been about the success of the campaign and trying to get more people plugged in and active in the campaign to insure that we will have the best president this country has seen in decades.
Yes, I would love to be inside at Invesco Field on the 28th for that historic occasion but if not, my hope is that in the seat I may have filled will be a much younger person who becomes inspired by the ideas and ideals that will flood the stadium, a young person who will be inspired not only to volunteer to help make sure that we elect Barack Obama as our next president but also a person who will through that experience will come to understand that each and every one of us holds the ability to help make a difference in our communities.
If I had my druthers, each and every seat at Invesco Field would be filled by people who are maybe luke warm about Barack or Hillary supporters who haven't gotten whole heartedly behind Barack yet, or Republicans and Independents or undecideds who just come to see what this guy with the funny name is all about who then come to understand they don't have to vote party line, that there is a clear choice and hope for the future in our country.
Regardless of who gets inside and who doesn't the one important thing to remember is that we are all part of making history and in that, no one is left out, whether they just became involved with the campaign yesterday, a year ago or following August 28th.
Lastly, let's not forget our brothers and sisters from Maine to Hawaii, from Washington to Florida who have worked their butts of on this campiagn most of who because of goegraphic location and the great cost there would be to travel here don't enjoy even a remote chance of being able to attend this historic event on August 28th. Rest ssured they will all be there in spirit as well.
Let's keep our eyes on the prize and get our country back on the right track.
Best wishes to all who are hoping for tickets, whether I get one or not I'll be right there with you in spirit.

Very exciting news. Senator Barack Obama will return to Michigan on Monday, August 4th for an event in Lansing. Obama will focus on his agenda to stand up for hard-working Michigan families who are being squeezed -- from lost jobs to rising gas prices – and who want to see a new direction for our country. Earlier today, Senator Obama called for an Emergency Economic Stimulus Plan which calls for a $1,000 energy rebate check for working families to help immediately ease the pain from skyrocketing gas prices. The plan is can be found in my previous post.Monday, August 4, 2008SPEECH ON ENERGY AND THE ECONOMYLansing Center333 E. Michigan AveLansing, MI 48933 The event is free and open to the public. However, tickets are required. Members of the public may pick up free tickets on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 2 at Gone Wired Café, 2021 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI. Seating is first-come, first-served for ticket-holders.
The Obama camp was offering 10 people the chance to get back stage passes for the Mile High 100,000 man event if you donated at least $5. In any case Minnesota Gambling Authority got involved because it was constiuting a type of gambling that is illegal when combining a donation and sweepstakes.
In any case, now you can sign up for free at the link below. Get on it...You can WIN!

Also, come on BO...only 10 passes....you're a gambling man...the odds on that are a joke
Hi all!
So I missed the boat in getting two tickets to see Colbert... sigh...
I just turned in my Grad school thesis on Monday, I have three weeks until I graduate, and I am planing a wedding all at the same time, while I have an OBAMA blog IV hooked into my arm for the campaign! I'm canvassing for Barack in Philly the weekend before the primary (I rescheduled my bridal shower so I could canvas! I canvassed in Delaware two days leading up to Feb 5th! I'm housing friends who I recruited to come down and canvas from NYC and Boston!)
Point is- I'm a worthy volunteer who would love to see Colbert when he comes to Philly.
I WILL phone bank over 250 calls for tickets!!
Can you help me out?? if you are friends with Colbert or with one of his peeps, could you see if I could get two tickets! Heck I'll take just one, my finace will get over it!
Or let me know where the show will be recorded so I can camp outside to try and get in?
thanks!!!

I heard about the campaing rally at the last-minute on the news last night. This morning I was bummed to learn that the rally in Plainfiled is "sold out" and those without a ticket can't get in. I would love to attend one of Obama's rallys or Town Hall meetings. This coming Saturday would've been perfect for me since I have a rare Saturday off (those who work in retail like I do know how hard to come by weekends off are). I'm debating on whether or not to still go to the high school and hope that the speakers are loud enough that those who can't get in can still listen to him.
I also hope that he'll make return apperances to Indiana. It would be awesome if he came close to where I live. If he does, it would most likely be in Bloomington somewhere on the IU campus.
A Message from Tobby (Please Read)
Hello fellow compatriots!I received a call last night from the Senator about how grateful and excited he is on our plan to host him at H20 this coming Wednesday. He informed me that we are all in this campaign not just to win, but to truly transformed our politics for the betterment of our generation and our country. After our discussion, I was certain that this campaign is not about him: he is in because of the passion and love he has for this great country. My fellow supporters of Obama, I want to relay his profound message of gratitude and appreciation to you all for committing your time and money to this great enterprise of reclaiming our country back. For those that have not bought the ticket to this event, please do so before Saturday. Your contribution is priceless and it will help in actualizing our shared dreams of achieving a more perfect union. Be part of a generation that actually bend the arc of justice to its rightful place. Be counted! It is now time for us to actually "turn the page" by participating in this one-for-lifetime fundraising with Senator Obama. It is official that Senator Barack Obama will be coming to H2O on May 23, 2007 for a fundraising event. This is a low-dollar and affordable fundraising event for all of us that are civically minded in changing Washington DC, from a trading post to place of solving our shared problems.
The minimum ticket price is $100 for regular attendees and $500 for a VIP pass It is a great opportunity for all of us supporters in the area to come out en mass to grace this august visitor. You will have the chance to shake hands, hear, question, take pictures and share the same stage with our noble, intelligent and next president of the United States, Senator Barack Obama. This event is similar to the one organized by the folks in New York in February, which the tickets were sold out within three days. Therefore, seize this opportunity to buy the ticket now before it will be sold out. CLICK HERE TO BUY THE TICKET.For any question, email me at tobbybonk@yahoo.com. NOTE: Pass on this mail to others who may be interested in attending this important fundraising event. It is going to be the only relatively cheaper fundraising event that the Senator will be in attendance.

If you want to make a difference now, there is a strong need for volunteers to pass out flyers (churches, colleges, etc.) and to get people signed up online for the rally on Feb. 26. Please email the field team at buckeyesforobama@gmail for more information. Conversely, I will be happy to pass the info and flyer along to you after 9 p.m. this evening (better to email me at: alphakam@aol.com than here so that I can attach the flyer).
NE Ohio Volunteers rock, by the way. :-)
