I received mail dated March 9, 2009 from the Illinois Department of Human Rights. The letter states "...Your letter to Governor Quinn was referred to the Department of Human Rights for a response. The letter that you received from the Department of Human Rights, dated July 15, 2008, explained the process regarding the cooperative agreement between U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Illinois Department of Human Rights (Department)...When you have received a final determination of your charge from EEOC, please refer the July 15, 2008, letter for further instructions...." Mr. Brent A. Harzman, Acting Manager signed this document, copying it to Rocco Claps, Betsy Ebeling, Governor's Office of Citizen Action and Thomas Roeser.
January 29, 2009 Honorable President of the United States Mr. Barack Obama The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500 CERTIFIED MAIL Re: Bias and Prejudice Investigation by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Mr. President: Please excuse me from taking your valuable time away from governing our country, but I must submit this writing seeking advocacy for shared beliefs in an honorable employment system free from discrimination and indifferent treatment along with responsible government intervention when an employment entity compromises the laws governing employment practices. At this time in your Presidency, it appears your priorities are focused on the economy and employment. This writing addresses both priorities. You signed a bill today, January 29, 2009, requiring women to get equal pay in employment, which also expands the time for filing discrimination claims. The lady to whom the bill reflects battled the powers to be for equal rights and pay for everyone. My fight is similar. I have been battling with the powers to be for equal employment under the law. Background/History with the Illinois Department of Corrections: First, I have been subjected to discrimination, marginalized and retaliated against because of my non-violent criminal drug convictions in 1988 and 1992. Sir, when I was sentenced in 1992 I did not have a G.E.D. I received my G.E.D. in Chicago’s county jail while waiting to go to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). I started going to college in prison. Once released in December of 1994, I achieved my Bachelor degree in General Studies with a focus on Social Science (1997) and a Master degree in Mental Health with a focus on Community Counseling (1999) from Roosevelt University in Chicago. I started my PhD program with Walden University in 1999. I will receive my PhD in Human Services with a focus on Social Policy Analysis and Planning in February of 2009. While I was incarcerated in IDOC in 1992, I suffered racial discrimination, indifferent treatment and retaliation attempting to access the courts. I was still litigating my criminal convictions while incarcerated. When going to court from an IDOC prison in Vandalia, my legal papers were purposely taken and destroyed by IDOC personnel. The legal papers contained information against Judge Paul Foxgrover who convicted me and my personal lawyer William Swano. Paul Foxgrover was convicted of a felony 18 months after convicting me receiving a 6-year sentence, and Attorney Swano was convicted in Operation Greylord and disbarred. I filed a civil action against IDOC for denying access to court, with the caption Fred Nance Jr. v. J.D. Vieregge, et al. The District Court denied my claims. The U.S. District Court of Appeals overruled the District Court on appeal stating “Nance has two options, which are not mutually exclusive: to seek damages in state court for the value of the photocopies as ordinary personal property; and to initiate a collateral attack or request for pardon concerning the judgment that rests on his guilty plea.” As stated above, this Appellate Court overturned the lower court’s decision dismissing my original complaint stating I had not pleaded facts showing that Vieregge acted deliberately. I did not know about this Appellate court decision until 2005. I was litigating another matter regarding “access to court” in the Federal court when through my research I found my case. I filed for clemency with Governor Blagojevich in October of 2006. Governor Blagojevich never responded to my petition for clemency. After I filed my civil complaint against IDOC and J.D. Vieregge, IDOC transferred me from a minimum security prison to a medium security prison. I was put in segregation because I complained about my missing legal papers. I was put in segregation 2 more times bogusly for administrative reasons. I was transferred 2 more times to various Southern Illinois institutions with IDOC knowing I would not get visitation because my relatives lived in the Chicago area. My wife of 16 years was murdered on July 5, 1993 while I was incarcerated. My daughter, who was 9-years-old at the time, found my wife’s body lying in the alley behind the house where they were living. IDOC refused to let me attend my wife’s funeral and visit with my children at the funeral home. Present matter with IDOC and EEOC: Second, I filed 2 charges, one on April 16, 2007 and one on May 12, 2008, for employment discrimination based on race, sex, age and retaliation against the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) and WestCare Foundation, Inc. (WestCare) with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which has been severely hindered and nefariously interrupted with biases and prejudices by staff of the Chicago District office of EEOC. Facts: I applied for a counseling employment position with Gateway Foundation, Inc. (Gateway) on or about April 2005. Gateway had the State of Illinois counseling contract with IDOC at Sheridan Correctional Center (Sheridan). IDOC refused my employment and security clearance. I appealed IDOC’s decision. One of the issues for my denial of employment with IDOC was that I visited my brother while he was in prison. I was not a convicted felon when I visited my brother. In April of 2006 I was granted a security clearance to work at Sheridan. I reported for work on May 1, 2006. On June 6, 2006 AFSCME the union had a strike at Sheridan. I tried to come to work and cross the picket line. Sheridan’s Warden Michael Rothwell denied me access to work. Warden Rothwell and a person who identified himself as an Assistant Director in Springfield informed me I could not cross the picket lines and go to work. They would not tell me why I could not cross the picket lines. I filed for unemployment compensation. I was denied because IDOC said I was off from work because of misconduct. Upon successful appeal with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) I received my benefits. I was identified as “non-participatory” with IDES in this matter. IDES reported in its summary “…The unemployment of the “non-participatory” claimant-appellants is not due to a work stoppage caused by the labor dispute…there was one efficient cause of the claimants’ unemployment and it was not the labor dispute. It was the unilateral actions of IDOC…The actions of IDOC were a separate and the only cause of the claimant’s unemployment.” After this decision and my return to employment on September 6, 2006 I was retaliated against by IDOC personnel and the administration at Sheridan. I suffered race, sex, and age discrimination in my job duties, promotions and job placement at Sheridan with IDOC personnel and WestCare employees. I was denied supervisory promotions several times while white and black females, younger than me, were placed in the supervisory position with less experience than I. I was discriminated against when IDOC and its staff denied me access to work while allowing white males and females, younger than me, to cross the picket lines. Yet, EEOC says I have no case. EEOC has all the documents I am sending you. Ms. Janel Smith is the investigator on my cases with EEOC. I have complained continuously to her supervisor since filing my charges about her biases and prejudices toward me and my endeavors for EEOC to litigate my charges against IDOC and WestCare. Finally, I wrote President Bush whose office forwarded my complaint to Chicago’s District office Director, Mr. John P. Rowe, where my EEOC charge is filed. I thought Mr. Rowe would monitor the process. These events are documented in detail on my blogs. The letter to President Bush is posted on your website. I will be posting this letter on your website. My intention by posting this issue is to demonstrate the inadequacy of EEOC and the discriminatory practices of IDOC and WestCare. Also, I believe there is an unethical and unnatural partnership between EEOC and IDOC, along with WestCare. Let us not forget about Governor Blagojevich and Illinois politics. This is real. Sir, it is rare we find someone of your integrity and honesty. Even though you practiced law in Chicago, you did not taint your character and behavior. For that, I applaud you. Since the EEOC is a Federal entity, I plead with you for your intervention. Ms. Janel Smith informed me on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 and on Thursday, January 29, 2009, that my charges with EEOC were being terminated. On Tuesday I asked Ms. Smith did IDOC tell her why they took my security clearance. Ms. Smith told me that IDOC did not want me working at Sheridan. On Thursday Ms. Smith told me that IDOC and WestCare told her I was locked out for poor performance and misconduct. I wrote a letter to Director Roger Walker on July 30, 2008 requesting a reason for being lockout of Sheridan and my employment. Mr. Walker never answered my certified letter to him. I asked Ms. Smith did IDOC and WestCare provide written documentation for this charge against me. Ms. Smith said they sent her the same documents I gave her. What does this mean? I told Ms. Smith that WestCare sent me a letter telling me that I was terminated because IDOC locked me out. I informed Ms. Smith that I worked for WestCare and not for IDOC. Therefore, how could IDOC say that I was locked out for poor performance and misconduct? It seems strange as I told Ms. Smith that she would call me now after I e-mailed her last week requesting status on my charges. It appears on its face that she decided as she has tried to do all of last year to dismiss my charges. Ms. Smith once told me that EEOC does not have the manpower or resources to properly address the discriminatory charges I bring before it. Where I do I fit in this scenario? I guess I get sacrificed. I guess IDOC’s discriminatory actions continue. Sheridan’s substance abuse program is supposed to reduce recidivism. How can it promote such a charge if it is not willing to work with those who have rehabilitated themselves? It may be due to my personal rehabilitation because IDOC had nothing to do with mine. I am enclosing the following documents with this correspondence: EEOC charges 440-2007-04512 (original and amended) & 440-2008-05507 Illinois Department of Human Rights control #s 090714051 (WestCare) & 090714051 (IDOC) Initial letter to Rod Blagojevich dated June 6, 2006 regarding IDOC denying access to cross the picket lines at Sheridan Illinois Department of Employment Security responses to my claim for benefits (discharge for misconduct, Labor Dispute Determination (I appealed decision), Recommended Decision after appeal, Decision of the Director of Employment Security giving me my unemployment benefits) Termination letter from WestCare Foundation Inc. Letter to Governor Blagojevich dated May 12, 2008 Letter to President Bush dated May 19, 2008 Letter received from EEOC Director John P. When did the word “Liberal” become a dirty word? I read articles in Letters to the Editor, and some people seem to think that merely labeling Obama as a “Liberal” ( insert shudder and gasps) is enough to make people not vote for him.
Well, I am a Liberal, I lean further toward things Liberals stand for: the common man, the American worker, labor unions’ right to exist, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, voting rights, and civil rights. The right of every person to be shown respect as a human being regardless of race, sexual orientation or religion. I believe in the individual’s right to decide how to live their life and what to do with their own body in their own privacy, and the right to access to medical and health care benefits, as do Liberals. I, as a Liberal, believe after working for 30 or 40 years and paying into a pension or 401K you have the right to collect a retirement. Liberals believe in fair taxes and expect fair taxes on the wealthy as well as the poor. We believe people don’t mind tax increases as long as they benefit all citizens and not just the top 10% of the wealthiest individuals and corporations. We believe tax cuts should be used judiciously and not just to win an election, but consider the current state of the country’s economy.
Liberals, myself included, believe in the right to voice an opinion, without fear of reprisal. We anticipate the hope to live in peace and not fear. We support policies that do not weigh our children, our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren with our irresponsible fiscal policies and lack of oversight, putting them deeper and deeper into debt. We value the opportunity to make a living wage, and being able to walk down the street without the fear of being shot.
Liberals espouse recognition of the value of education in our country and backing up that recognition by funding education for every child in America, as well as recognition of the value of our elderly and our obligations to our elders. Liberals talk about being willing to stop the discarding of the elderly into homes unfit for any human being, or relegate them to poverty and illness at the end of productive lives based on the mighty dollar. Liberals believe in the right to health care that does not force a choice between bankruptcy and medical care. The examples are legion, but if you want to know, talk to your neighbor.
The values Liberals hold I hold: love your neighbor as yourself, choose peace over war whenever possible, hold life (every life) in the highest esteem, empathy, understanding, trust, individual rights, and the respect for the opinions of others. None of us are less, for we are all intertwined and rooted in the same tree. That tree is the Tree of America, and it stands on the Planet Earth. Therefore, we Liberals think globally, trying to work with, rather than against our neighbors. Last of all, Liberals think for themselves and do not believe everything said to them from the pulpit or the soapbox. Instead they look for truth. As individuals we are not perfect, but we are not ashamed of our label either. I am proud to call myself a Liberal.

VOTE FOR CHANGE!! VOTE FOR A NEW AMERICA!! VOTE FOR AMERICAN VALUES! VOTE FOR OBAMA!!!
Buyer beware: Sex, Lies and Videotapes
It is clear to those of us who have been following very closely lately that Obama is gaining impressive ground - both in terms of electoral votes as well as the national gallop poles. As of today, in terms of electoral votes, he is leading in some states that used to be traditionally republican sates, and/or states that George W. Bush carried 4 years ago - he is in double digit lead in some of these battleground states. And in terms of the national gallop poles he is today about 8 points on average ahead of McCain. The largest lead since the beginning of the general election.
This has forced the McCain camp to fortify their “Sex, Lies and Videotapes” tactics.
Where is the Sex? You ask. Well the beauty pageant bimbo they have hired (who by all accounts refuses to address any issue with any measurable level of substances) has been going on rallies with her ‘lipstick” stump speeches and superficial smiles - attempting to arouse a vote out of her new set of victims: a new male species she calls the “Joe Six packs”. Recent poles show that she is loosing the initial female support she got out of the gate, especially following the many embarrassing interviews lately. Compound this with the fact that she never got the support of Hillary Clinton supporters, which was arguably the main reason behind the gamble they took putting this gruesomely unqualified women on the ticket. The McCain camp learned too late that (by and large) Hillary Clinton supporters, (particularly the women she was counting on swaying), are intellectuals, who actually care about substance, and issues and where our country is headed - and would not jump on the lipstick wagon simply because they see a skirt. So what is she doing, well use her sex to lure male voters, since using her sex to lure female voters has not proven fruitful over the last six weeks, and time is running out.
The Lies, well they just have been blatant and rampant lately. Lies have been for sometime, the platform on which the McCain/Palin ticket has been running, but I have noticed today they just have been elevated to new levels of deception. I just saw McCain give a speech and his nose was growing every other verb.
The videotapes, well I am not referring to the TV ads that you all may have seen, but to the tricky and misleading attack ads they have been running on the internet lately, they are using viral media so that it can spread – and stay below the radar of traditional scrutiny – at the same time.
So my friends, let us all tell all of our friends to tell their friends – Buyer beware!
Alright, I have a bone to pick about this Sarah chick.
She's pretty. No, she's not pretty, she's -- downright BEAUTIFUL! Which is what is making me stark raving mad! SO many people didn't "like" Hillary because they thought she was too manly, too rough, and definately not girl enough. However, when she DID try to be girlier, she was harrassed for it. I personally think she didn't get the male vote because she was -- average looking.
Now comes along Ms. Palin and WHAM! She's got everyone's vote! Even the independents! Why? Because she is EVERYTHING HILLARY WASN'T - especially GOOD LOOKING. And the fact that she has five kids, has many a man thinking about her barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.
Now, I'm not trying to start anything, but seriously, have you tried talking to independents about the ISSUES on which Palin stands? Oh my gosh - she's practically HITLER! And if I have to listen to her complain one more time about people reporting on her family with that NASALLY voice, I will scream. I will, I will literally stand outside my door and scream!
For one thing, if she didn't want her family in the spotlight, then she shouldn't be parading them through the streets. ESPECIALLY since they are not exactely upstanding individuals.
With all the troubles her family has had, it is proof that you CAN'T always HAVE IT ALL. SOMETHING is going to suffer for the lack of parenting.
And to get back to my original point -- all her "mistakes" (Lobbyist loving, bridge to nowhere turned into ROAD to nowhere - on her call, affairs, troopergate, pregnant kids, drug ladden son who's choice was either join the army or go to jail) and the men STILL love her! Why? Because she's pretty! Unfortunately, I think a LOT of men are going to vote with their dick's this year.
I say this because as a pretty woman myself, I've seen how men fall all over themselves to please a pretty woman. And I also gather this conclusion from conversations with my daughter who is a Freshman at the University of Miami (where she is campaigning heavily for Obama) and she is running for a senator position on the Student Government. She was the Student Body President of a 3000, yes, three THOUSAND student body school and is interested in being in same position at Miami when she is elegible. She is OUT there - she talks to EVERYONE - she's also host of UMTV and has the opportunity to ask the important questions of many students - like, "who are you going to vote for?" And the guys all think Palin is a cougar, a MILF, that she's pretty enough to lead!
One more thought before I leave for today. (I have to get back to writing my book - thankfully it is heavily edited - ha ha ha, grammar has never been my strong point, neither has spelling...which reminds me - why no spell check here?)
My other thought for today is why don't some of these special interest groups working in defense of Obama (notice I didn't say working "for") come out and remind all these small minded Republicans all about the shame so many Rebuplicans have brought to the party. You know, Tom Delay, Craig - bathroom scenes and all ---------- I know I don't need to go on...the list would take forever to write...
And something else that irks me I'd like to mention before I sign off. When are the rural/financially struggling Republicans going to learn that everything the DEMOCRATS are fighting for will benefit them? NOT the Republican agenda?????? It never ceases to amaze me how these uneducated/guileless people have not a CLUE as to what the Republican agenda is truly all about. HELLO! If you haven't a job or you don't make enough to feed your family - you should be voting DEMOCRAT! But people like Rush Limbugh make it sound like Democrats are constantly pimping whores and are going to work all drugged up and that all we care about is being "immoral." WHAT????
I had a conversation with a business associate the other day and he insisted that the Republicans were the better party. And I agreed with him -- on one point. That our taxes WILL go up (we are in the 35% tax bracket) but I felt that as a person who makes more than "enough" we would will ultimately be living a BETTER life because if others can feel as though the United States is a place that plays fair in the job market, employees will work harder, get a better education, etc., thus stop that never ending cycle of ignorance and joblessness that brings forth much anger, homelessness and despair. Instead, people will learn to work in harmony, they will feel they have made a fair wage and they will be happy - that just makes it better for all of us! Not all of us are cut out for higher education, but we Do need to educate all students on how to balance a checkbook, how to save money first - then buy, how to invest, about interest rates, etc. BEFORE THEY GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL. I would recommend starting in middle school. My dad was a steel worker, it took my husband and I forever to figure out how to handle money, and we are still learning to this day. If hadn't had friends who were good enough to explain how things work and guide us on how to manage our money, we would not be where we are today. Even kids that come from nothing should be taught about money - so they will grow up respecting it, understanding they need to work for it, and how to manage it when they get it! It's not fair that Americas richest kids get this taught to them at the dinner table. We need to make this information accessible and easy to understand in layman's terms.
Look, does anyone here honestly thing that the executives at Lehman had NO IDEA what was about to happen? Or that like the 1000 employees that are losing their jobs, they will end up going without a cent also? HELL NO! Those top executives will see a terrific downfall of cash, while the employees about to retire will see absolutely NOTHING.
*taking a deep breath*
*Stepping down from my soapbox*
*reminding everyone to hug their child or someone they love today* My son would have been fighting for Obama, and I will fight to the bitter end for him also!
GO OBAMA!

It seems race, gender, and age are the big three in this presidential campaign, but I personally think it is about possessing the necessary qualifications to preside over this country. John McCain was at the bottom of his Annapolis class, 894th out of 899. We've already had 8 years of a president with a C- average and we can't stand another four of the same. Sarah Palin attended five colleges to attain her degree in journalism -- not a real advertisement for stability.
Contrast Barack Obama, who majored in political science and international relations at Columbia University, went to Harvard Law School where he graduated magna cum laude and was president of their prestigious Law Review. Joe Biden graduated from the University of Delaware with Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science. He obtained his law degree from the Syracuse University College of Law.
I know education isn't everything, but it is absolutely essential for our leaders to have a background in the areas that these men have studied -- and accomplished a lot as a result of their education. I don't know about you, but I would far rather have someone who can meet foreign heads of state on an equal footing rather than someone I would feel comfortable having a beer with.

I would love to hear Obama use this phrase over and over again, at every event and speaking opportunity. Let them eat cake, Obama should stand his ground. Make this our new battle cry.
McCain campaign is nothing but a lipstick on a pig.
Let's use their tactics against them.
Please repeat "Lipstick on a pig" at every speaking chance you get! Drive the point home, get the McCain-Rove camp a taste of their own medicine.
This will unify the Democratic base, it will help drive the point home that you are not backing down and that we have a backbone. The media will eat it up, and will actually become your trump card.
Use a bit of in-your-face attitude. "Yes, I said that, and I will say it again, "Lip stick on a pig" is what the McCain camp is all about these days when it comes to their policy."
Lipstick on a pig is not an insult to women, but it shows how Obama will stand up for his beliefs. NEVER EVER backdown.
Out-bully the bullies.
mm.... pit bulls and pigs. How low can politics go? And just how much difference is there between a pit bull and a pig anyway? Why is one attractive and the other offensive? Why must one go so far out of the way to pretend that one is offensive and yet take on the other as a mascot? Honestly, I get so confused. My mom and dad are visiting from Utah where I grew up. They just got here today. I hesitate to bring up politics on their first day. Mom was talking something about WWII... oh it was a game show... a question about who invented the helicopter. She knew the answer and wondered why so many other people didn't know it. I answered... "Mom, people can't even remember the last seven years. How do you expect them to remember that far back?" She had a pretty good chuckle. But you would not believe what I have heard from her lips over the past couple of years. Yes, I did have to convince her that Obama was not a Muslim, that he is a Christian, that he is an American and on and on. Such is the culture there. I get so frustrated and down right boiling mad when I see these yahoos smear their Democratic opponents. Hopefully, Obama does not reciprocate in the same fashion. And as I am sitting here typing, I just saw the new ad by McCain about the bill talking about sex education in Kindergarten. Oh please. Where do they come up with this? How perverted do you have to be to pull something so far out of context? Does anyone know what in god's name they are talking about? I'd really like to read that bill.

States rights vs. Federal Constitution

Only when the political tide shifts to elections and seekers of public station come out to beg for their next employment, do they look towards the masses. When all other ideas, feats, fads and communications fade away, do they look towards that ‘one simple idea’ to gain the so called trust of the masses.
Odd how, when up against a wall of negativity, those clamoring for a seat upon a royal pillow will turn all this negative energy towards a group of people they think are below their social circles in nationality, sex, religion, race, origin and now, sexual orientation. The popular belief of the day will dictate which group of people will be against another group of people. It will be clan against clan or father against son with no end in sight.
So, this century will be remembered for the rights of those who love someone who is of the same biological sex than their contemporary counterparts. It has started in the lands north of us, Canada. It has begun to take shape in isolated states in our own land. In this country of ‘opportunity and freedom’, these States united with each other are now being torn apart because love, commitment and family are not recognized equally.
Food, shelter, water, clothing, medical care and education are the things we are born into and others must fight and die to achieve. Love, commitment and family are part of the human genetics. For centuries, mankind has struggled to survive. It was only achieved when humans had the love and commitment of their family to achieve and work through its struggles. This support system is something that has been inherent within every one of us.
Reality TV was an idea to gain ratings. It has done that. But, what part of this reality is real? Children are starving in our own country, the land of ‘milk and honey’ is real but you don’t see a TV show around that. Babies are born addicted to alcohol and controlled substances is real but you don’t see that either. A person’s view of the world around us is truly warped if viewed only through the median of moving pictures in a box in your living room. Yet, many people do believe what is told to them through such a median or similar medians like newspapers, videos, radio and even the internet. Truth is believed through experience and/or education. Fear can drive anyone to hate anything is scared enough to go there. Belief in such is harder to obtain when you have experienced it yourself or have been educated to understand it.
What you see and hear is not always true just because someone in the elected public says it is so. Experience it or educate yourself about is so that the fear and dread fed to you is understood and either accepted in your own mind or rejected by you. Never allow others to drive fear in your heart nor into your thoughts. Think for only yourself and each thought will gain a new presence in your being.
Sanctity of Marriage???
The following situations are all around us. You may be involved in one such relationship.
When celebrities and ‘everyday people’ marry on a whim, they have immediate rights to their spouse’s property, livelihood, and decision making in legal and healthcare situations.
Those who marry for convenience, insurance benefits, military benefits, to gain property or status with or without children are living through the so called “Sanctity of Marriage”?
When older adults marry in later life after having raised one family, they really can’t be married because they have no children to raise?
When a man and a woman marry and together decide not to have children, should they lose their rights and have the marriage annulled?
Turn the tables around for a moment. In your mind, think of the reverse situation for a moment. The world and countries living their lives as they believe are ‘justifiable’ in the eyes of the law of the land.
Now, turn the tables back to the present day in which you live. Those are the realities that are being afforded to those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender in identity. Fear of the unknown and different can be enough fuel to ignite the being of contempt.
Law makers and those of political power who understand and have educated themselves to understand what same sex couples are wishing to have the same rights for their family as opposite sex couples are only going so far to accomplish this. The word “Marriage” and all the reveal that goes with that word are hard for a lot of them to fathom. Civil Unions, Certificates of Union (makes it sound like you just completed a six month program at the local community college), and any other of a half-dozen terms used to describe a lawful if not holy binding commitment between two loving individuals of the same sex do not afford this couple the same right across the states. It is good until you get to the border of the country or state or city that performed the marriage-like ceremony or, thanks to MA, a wedding/marriage. Same sex couples would have more rights and legal protection within loving couple if they had enough paperwork signed and money to complete the transaction. How romantic is that? Opposite sex couples can marry in any country or state and have protection for themselves and their spouses without question. Be it a quick trip to a Vegas drive-thru wedding chapel or a half-a-million dollar ceremony and celebration with friends and family.

I try to be fair, but looking at the actions that go with the motto, "Country First," in this campaign are in total opposition. I hear them talk about character, judgment and leadership.
First, when they say "country first," how can one who has lived already his God given years and is old and gray, first, run for President, then nominate another who is obviously not ready to be President, say they are thinking about this country. Everyone knows the stress that a President endures, we have watched every President gray while in office but in McCain's case, that won't be possible.
Second, how can they say, "country first," when they chose a Vice president who in this case may very well be the President because of the latter, who has more issues, many of which demoralizes the very morals the United States of America was birthed from.
Senator Obama said to all those who support him, "Hands off the family." I am in agreement with that, however, there can be no hands off the implications of having a dysfunctional and immoral family in the leadership of this country. I am sure everyone remembers the Clinton situation which shot our country into ultimate immorality. The executive families set the example for the people in this country and other countries are watching. So how can we as a people accept all the dysfunction, immorality and the questionable integrity.
They say "country first," so how can you nominate someone who obviously is having issues keeping their own house in order, has a baby who will require extensive time and care, a person who is under investigation for their integrity and work ethics, and who has a child in trouble despite the shot gun wedding planned, setting the children up for failure. Is this really "country first," or a political ploy just to be President. There was no thought about what all this drama would do to the presentation of our government. Is the women’s, pro-life and evangelical vote worth the already damaged reputation and presentation of America? "Country first," huh?
They say "country first," because McCain went to Louisiana, for what? It was just a photo opt because emergency people know more is not better. Filling a few boxes is not country first. In this case it definitely wasn't at all because why would one spend money to clog up the system to get the attention of them and take away the focus on the people who needed it. That is why we have government programs in place and evidently they worked. So now what is McCain doing about getting the people back home since he was so proactive to help in Louisiana, maybe they can use his plane to get home quickly (LOL).
They say "country first," because Mccain was a POW and refused to depart before others. I honor him for his service and his loyalty. However, this same loyal man has been loyal to the last political regimen, he said himself that he voted with President Bush 90% of the time, and look at the state we are in. Is this country first?
This is just a statement reference Senator Lieberman, who obviously has no loyalty to anyone but himself because I am sure as a best friend of McCain he sees a good position for himself since his Democratic Vice Presidency didn't happen. Again, is it "country first?"
The only way anyone can actually say 'COUNTRY FIRST," is to go back to the standards, the morals, the values and the principles of our fore fathers. We must return to the Constitution and elect the one who truly is not just running for President but one who has the welfare of this country as their primary focus and has the character and support system to support the office.
The McCain-Palin ticket is definitely not “Country First.” Palin is an extreme extremist who seeks to takes books out of the libraries that she disagrees with, take away the people right to choose what they do with their bodies, a God given right no less, unless it’s having sex without a marriage covenant and so much more. People really need to check out her true history and politics and ask IS IT TRULY COUNTRY FIRST?
On another note, who is actually going to be President, because the people that support them are voting and ranting and rallying for Palin not McCain and this move is detrimental and dangerous for the preservation and success of this country we call AMERICA.

Yes, I'M MAD and so should every individual in the United States of America. I am mad to think that someone, anyone, who would say they love this country and want to serve it's people would present such an example for everyone to see to base their opinion of us on. Have we gotten so immoral and dishonest that we would even accept the thought of such. I am Mad!.
Am I the only one that sees that the example being set here is one of questionable integrity and ethics, has to be, or why would there be an investigation. Am I the only one that sees that our daughters and sons will think, it is okay to have sex out of wedlock and then marry when they are ill prepared. That may work in Alaska because he can go out and get a job on the pipeline, that's not true of all those in the metropolitan areas, the majority. Am I the only one that sees, a person who has a baby that will require extra care, a mother's care, not a nanny or sibling. Let's not forget the husband with the DUI.
I am mad. I served my country for 20 years and have been overseas where it was an honor to say I am an American but no anymore. We are looked at as the cesspool of the world with all our immoral acts and attitudes, and we have a 200 crediting rating. Now a public official wants to present that as the example of an American, I AM MAD.
Would one really think so low of the people of this country to think we would accept anything to represent us. I am not saying, Governor Palin, is not qualified, however, it is about more than qualifications. It is also about presentation, and she presents with drama. The drama this country does not need, and the people shouldn't accept it.
I found myself saying I would move overseas if McCain got elected, but why should I have to relocate to get away from that which is obvious. I commend Governor Palin for her service, but she is not ready to lead this country when her life is out of order right now. That is what has happened to most of our children right now. Parents are so busy doing other things then raising they're children. Motherhood is just that, a time you chose to be a mother. That is the difference between, a man and a woman, and that fact can't be argued. It's a God given assignment.
I am asking everyone to just think about what the people for the most part have invested their time and efforts to protect our children from, sex on TV, illicit lyrics in music, favoritism and poor work ethics; in this election the republican party, wants us to accept that as a standard for our future. God forbid.
On another note, who wants bullies. People who have to attack another, their fellow countrymen, to make themselves look good, all the while telling lies and confusing the people with twisted retoric. This is not a game they are playing, this is real, and our country is at stake here. Think people, think.
If you watched the Republican Convention, many of their own people were not happy with the tearing down and the lies presented. Have we stooped so low that we need to belittle and tear each down to build ourselves up. This is no game, again our country is at stake here.
