Just got an invitation to a "BLUE BASH" for tomorrow. WRONG! Someone did not get the full extent of Barack Obama's vision. We are not red or blue ... we are UNITED. We need to understand PURPLE. In the words of a famous Republican, Mr. & Ms. partisan person, tear that wall down!
Let's celebrate the future of America TOGETHER because we need every single person on board to make the changes we need in order to have a future. No more clubs of "us against them" We MUST END THIS MENTALITY ONCE AND FOR ALL. We need everyone on the same page. I see an America where there are NO MORE invitations to Democrat or Republican events ... UNITED WE STAND. How about an "I LOVE AMERICA" party? With all viewpoints invited. What part of that do labelers, dividers and cliques not undertand? Let's move into the 21st centure - it is no longer every man for himself. GREED IS NOT GOOD !! There is no "trickle down" if the water is turned off altogether.
Maybe one day we will have one party ... full of liberals & conservatives & opposing opinions. Barack Obama teaches us that we do not have to agree in order to work together. We find common ground and build from there, because if we are HUMAN, there is common ground. We need a leader who understands this - we all need to understand this.
Come and listen to a story about a gal pure Red, A tough Alaskaneer, huntin' kept her family fed, Then one day she was shootin at some Moose, And up through the ground came a bubblin crude. Oil that is, black gold, G.W'ya tea. Well the first thing you know ol Red's courtin' billionaires, McCain folk said "Red move away from there!" Said Washington is the place you ought to be" So they loaded up her truck and moved her to D.C.. Captial Hill, that is. Lobby "Tools," and ex-movie stars. Well now its time to say good by to Red and all her kin. And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly fallin'n in (line). You're all invited back again to join the insanity To have a heapin helpin' of their hm-hm-hm! --another word for pee.... Cheney that is. Rove as well. They'll rip your shirt off (your back). Y'all come back and vote now, y'hear?.
Away from the glamour and glitz of the party conventions, a fierce battle for votes is already being waged on doorsteps across America. Thad Williamson reports on Obama efforts to capture the traditional red state of Virginia.

I by no means posted this for use to start partying because we still have alot of work to do in order to get Obam into the White House and get Obama's message out to folks who want to know but don't or are on the fence due to misinformation. I just want to prove the point that we cannot focus on the media polls. They can be manipulated to give whatever message they want to give for the day. it is my thought process that they [media] are keeping this election close for ratings and relovence. The only numbers that matter are the Electoral Votes.
With all the breathlessness over the minute movements in the irrelevant national polls, the one thing no one seems to be noticing is that the electoral map is still trending very poorly for John McCain (R).
I realize that it cuts against the media narrative right now to focus on anything that doesn't suggest a dead-heat, but it's quite instructive to see how the independent groups (and even right-leaning ones) currently see the state of the race through the only prism that matters -- the Electoral College:
Obama McCain MarginReal Clear Politics 322 216 Obama +106Electoral-Vote.com 316 209 Obama +107FiveThirtyEight.com 303 235 Obama + 68Pollster.com 284 147 Obama +137 AVERAGE 306 202 Obama +104
Obama McCain Margin
AVERAGE 306 202 Obama +104
If you think about the reporting of the fluctuating state polls lately that show a tight race, all of them involve red states that McCain can't afford to lose: Colorado, Montana, Virginia, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Alaska, Georgia, etc.
Despite the media narrative that a number of blue states are competitive, the truth is none of the recent polling shows McCain making any significant inroads in the blue states. Consider:
So, while the media breathlessly reports the national tracking polls which shows a close race, the state polling is still showing a pretty significant Obama lead.
P.S. -- Again reminding us how big of a joke CNN's political reporting has become, their current electoral map has it Obama 221, McCain 189. What a farce.
I hope this motivates people to get out there and do all you can...we need all we can get!

With Bob Barr in the race, Senator Obama and Senator McCain are in a statistical dead heat according to the most recent polling data. The demographics of this large Southern state may present the perfect storm for turning a red state blue! Read for yourself:

Just found a terrific article from fellow South Carolinian Linda Hansen, commenting on Senator Obama's campaign for the Huffington Post's Off The Bus coverage. I feel a CHANGE in the wind. With only 144 days left before the election, it's time for every committed supporter to mulitply their efforts. Let's make this happen!

The Daily Kos is reporting (see the very last, parting comment of the blog post above) that the Obama camp is planning on declaring victory on May 20.
If so, it's an interesting and bold move unless Hillary is poised (just post WV but before KY to concede) and she may very well be. While it's presumed she'd win Kentucky, she's broke.
Can I suggest that we all keep a red, white and blue ribbon (whether it is one ribbon with all three colors or three ribbons - one of each color pinned together) handy and pin it on when we hear of the announcement? Sort of a solidarity and celebratory commemoration of how far Barack's campaign has come? It's all three colors to indicate that we are NOT blue states and red states but that we have a nominee for the United States of America.
I've noticed an emerging categorization of Latin Americans that is offensive and ignorant.
Should we refer to Latin Americans as "brown"? Should we refer to Asians as "yellow"?
As a Latin American, I find categorizing Latinos, as "brown", offensive and ignorant. Because it denies and dismisses Latin American's from our main source of identity. Our identity is not based on a color, it comes from our country of origin or from our Latin American roots or from our culture.
We can't label Gabriel Garcia Marquez or Ruben Blades as "brown"? or Roberto Clemente or Celia Cruz as "brown" either. They became or have become who they are primarily as a result of their culture and not because of the color of their skin.
To my knowledge, the concept of labeling people as "brown" does not exist in Latin America.
The use of the term "brown" imposes on Latin Americans a categorization that does not define who we are.
I wish I could post the pics of my van with the Obama signs painted on. If you want to have a look, send me an email at gheathnurrse@yahoo.com and I will send jpg's of them back to you. You will see the red, blue, and black paint on a white van driven by a white man to support a black man into the White House. WHAT A COUNTRY! :)
I wish I had the gas to drive to PA and following primaries. It is a full size 4-wheel drive so it rises above most traffic, even most SUV's!

Hillary Clinton's ad aired in Texas before last week's vote and implied a lack of experience on Barack Obama's part.
"What I don't like about the ad is its fear-mongering," Knowles told ABC's "Good Morning America Weekend Edition" on Sunday. "I think it's a cheap hit to take. I really prefer Obama's message of looking forward to a bright future."
The well-known Clinton ad aired in Texas before last week's vote and implied a lack of experience on Obama's part. It showed an exterior of a Colonial-style home and old stock footage of Knowles sleeping in bed.
A narrator describes a phone ringing in the White House: "It's 3 a.m. and your children are safely asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?"
Clinton won the Texas primary by a 51-47 percent margin.
Knowles said she didn't see the ad until Jon Stewart lampooned it Thursday on "The Daily Show." Her brother noticed it was her, and the family replayed the commercial on their digital recorder to be sure.
"They were parodying this ad, kind of poking fun at it," Knowles said. "My brother was like, 'Is that Casey?' And we just erupted. Sure enough, it's me."
The file footage was originally shot for a railroad company advertisement. The Clinton campaign bought it from Getty Images.
Knowles, a senior at Bonney Lake High School who turns 18 next month, has been campaigning for Obama. She attended his rally at Seattle's KeyArena on February 8. Her mother, Pam, told The News Tribune of Tacoma that Casey cried and trembled after shaking the candidate's hand.
The next day, she was a Democratic precinct captain for the state's caucuses. If she plays her cards right, she could go to the national convention.
Not to mention that she could be in another ad. After her identity became known, Obama's campaign contacted her.
That said, Knowles said she plans to vote for whichever Democrat wins the nomination.
Looks like the NY Times and a couple others in the media are starting to draw similar conclusions that I had in my last blog post. Senator Obama is now campaigning directly against fear. He has the right message to counter fear but it does take one on one connections and lots of time to be successful. Voters swayed by messages of fear are so dangerous because they will jump ship so fast and support someone who may in reality hurt them in the long run. Hope and the positive statement Yes We Can got us far but I propose an additional message - Fight Fear.

Thanks to Marc who commented on my first Obama or Bust post. He mentioned that Senator Clinton's suggestion that she can win the big states is not so powerful when you consider those states are consistently blue in elections, yet the recent Democratic Party candidates still lost with those states solidly in their camp. We need a candidate that pays attention to and gets vote in the mountains, the midwest and south as well as the northeast and pacific coast. In almost all of those 'red' states Senator Obama has beaten Senator Clinton by a significant 60% to 40% split and double or tripled voter turnout. Senator Obama has a 50 state strategy. Senator Clinton will again seek to spread fear and divide the country just like we have endured with President Bush for the last 8 years.
We can do better. Fight Fear. Usher in Hope. Yes We Can. Vote Obama
You guys won't believe this one. LOL
The little "sleeping girl" in Billary's "Red Phone" ad is all grown up now, about to turn 18 in April, and GUESS WHO SHE SUPPORTS? LMAO!!!
She's an OBAMANITE!! She's been canvassing and was a precinct captain in February.
She wants to make a "counter-ad" with Sen. Obama! I would LOVE to see that! LOL! LOL!

Now that Kosovo is automomous what is the UN going to do to ensure peace and anti-separitist views??????
Delaware, Louisiana, and Missouri are all battleground states that ran primaries (not caucuses) that he won. In Missouri, the turnout for this year's democratic primary (1.4 mill) was 52% of the TOTAL turnout (dem+rep) for the 2004 general election (2.7 mill).
Look at the red states. Alabama was a primary state that Obama won, and the numbers there are amazing. The democratic primary this year had turnout numbers that reached 59% of the TOTAL (dem+rep) turnout for the 2004 general election. Georgia, another red state, ran a primary, and Obama won...
Yes we can win red states!
Here is a state-by-state breakdown of the numbers for the red states that we have shown a competitiveness in this year (Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia). Obama won all but two of these states! Check out the numbers...
After years of being apathetic and uninvolved this year is different and Obama has inspired me in ways few politicians ever have. I have a song for Barack called "The Streets are Whispering". You can view a video at: Youtube or you can download it for free at: myspace.com/redseastation
Let me know what you think. While it's not as star-studded as Yes We Can I hope it can have an impact nonetheless and all for the good cause of Obama.
Go Obama!!

This will be only the second Presidential primary I have ever voted in and this time, you can feel it. In 2004, the polls were empty for I live in the Atlanta suburbs, Elephant country... Few people ventured out in 2004, their candidate already had the nomination, his name was Bush. This time, people are truly fired up in Georgia. Yesterday, I talked to two Republicans, both casting their votes for Senator Obama on Super Tuesday. A huge smile cut across my face, I nearly bought them both "Republicans for Obama" bumper stickers.
Yes, even here in Elephant Country, people have found their candidate. Ladies and gentlemen, finally a candidate has emerged that transcends partisan boundaries and can reach out to both sides. Seeing this lets me know one thing: YES WE CAN!
I will spend the next few days posting on activities here in the state of Georgia and what I know will be a great victory for not just Senator Obama, but for the United States of America!
We all know it is an oversimplification to speak of "red" states and "blue" states, when every state has a mixed population of voters. Here is a wonderful website that takes the familiar state by state and county by county Democrat/Republican maps, and distorts the map to take population density into account. My favorite is the second to the last set of "cartograms" which uses a red-purple-blue spectrum county by county, and then distorts the map to account for population density.
The lesson this wonderful graphic Link is that we are not a nation divided. We are largely a centrist nation, where ropy sinews of conservatism seem to provide structure for islands of liberalism. It's a very organic image.

I am inspired to create a new group, Centrists for Obama. I hope you will meet me there and help to define a "centrist agenda" that might influence the political debate.
