I am filled with hope by the election of Barack Obama. There is a feeling of real connection as well. I shared matching donations with a supporter in Oregon. I spent an evening phone banking with people here in the Grass Valley area, California. I drove over the pass to Nevada with a local friend and we worked 13 hours getting out the vote with other visitors and lots of dedicated Nevada locals.
The way forward, then, is to deepen those connections and continue to 'community organize.'
The thoughts I want to share in this blog have that focus - how to build community around the election and governance of an Obama presidency; how to participate in my government, national and local; how to bridge differences between opposing views so that we become more unified as a county and more able to address the fundamental issues of our time.
I welcome any conversation that helps us get there.
“Purpose, Destiny, & Legacy.”
Your “Purpose” is your reason for living. Your “Destiny” is the testimony that you have lived your “Purpose.” You live your “Purpose” in order to arrive at your place of “Destiny” – “Achieved Greatness.”
Your “Legacy” is what you leave behind; it is directly identifiable with the fruit of your labor and is based upon whether or not you have fulfilled your purpose and arrived at your place of “Destiny.”
To come to the end of your life without fulfilling your “Purpose” for living, leaves you a legacy of defeat, failure, and incompleteness.
When you live according to your God ordained purpose, you leave a legacy of victory, success and wholeness.
The fear of hell is really the acknowledgement that you have not lived out your purpose.
The joy of heaven is knowing that you have lived a life according to the purpose God has ordained for you.
It was not enough that Jesus was born in order to be The Savior of the world; He had to live out His purpose in order to arrive at His place of destiny (“Achieved Greatness.”) His “Destiny” testifies that He lived His purpose.
It was not enough that Ghandi was born in order to be a great political & spiritual leader of India and have an impact across the world; he had to live out his purpose in order to arrive at his place of destiny (“Achieved Greatness.”) His “Destiny” testifies that he lived his purpose.
It was not enough that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in order to lead the Civil Rights Movement in America, and be a moral conscience to the entire world; he had to live out his purpose in order to arrive at his place of destiny (“Achieved Greatness.”) His “Destiny testifies that he lived his purpose.
[It is not enough that Sen. Barack Obama was the first black president of the “Harvard Law Review,” or that he turned down a fast track lucrative career with big law firms or Wall Street companies in order to work and help bring hope to the inner cities of Chicago; it is not enough that Sen. Obama served as a community leader, or a State Senator, or that he became The Senator from Chicago. It is not enough that Sen. Obama became the first American of African (and European) ancestry to win the nomination for the Presidency of a major party; he must continue to live out his purpose in order to arrive at his place of destiny (“Achieved Greatness”). His destiny continues to testify that he lives his purpose. His legacy continues to grow.]
You must realize it is not enough to simply be born. You must live out your purpose in order to arrive at your place of destiny (“Achieved Greatness.”) Will your “Destiny testify that you lived your purpose?
You live your “Purpose” to arrive at your “Destiny” in order to leave a great legacy that helps others to “Master The Day.”
Remember, it is your charge, “Go Master the Day©.”

Self-sacrifice vs. self-serving
It is still hard for me to believe voters who supported Bush in the early days still stand by him. They seem to have a hard time admitting what a tragic mistake it was to hand power over to a self-serving group of insiders such as Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al.
Until Mr. Obama came along I thought we'd never again see the likes of a man determined to advance the state of humankind, who actually believed in liberty as a right, in sacrifice as a privilege.
Even as a young boy I recognized those things in JFK. Even as a child I knew he believed in what a united people can achieve when they are far-sighted and care about the future. The sitting President's administration cares about profit today, not the world tomorrow, in the exercise of power, not the power of a good purpose.
I changed from independent to Democrat because of what I believe I see in Mr. Obama. I know he can make a difference. The administration of Mr. Bush has shown me nothing but disappointment, and what a self-serving cabal can do for themselves.
I served 24 years in the military, 20 of those doing intelligence work, spying on the global threat. I was in constant touch with major info sources across the spectrum, and was responsible much of the time for the accuracy of our own organization's reporting. The entire intelligence community insisted that Iraq was no threat to the U.S. but the White House didn't want that answer. They lied to the American people about Iraq posing a danger, as an excuse to invade.
Worse yet, the military sent 50,000 body bags to the region prior to the invasion, in case it got that bad. The White House knew this was part of the preparations for war, but was undeterred. The smell of oil profits was too great. A year before the "last resort" invasion of Iraq, as Bush referred to it, VP Cheney made sure his own company would share in the profiteering, by handing them a contract to rebuild Iraq after the invasion came.
Rumsfeld himself made certain Iraq had its WMDs in the first place, and after we changed partners we made sure Iraq was devoid of such weapons. Powell himself testified to the U.N. a year before the invasion we had eliminated the Iraqi threat. It must have been galling for him to have to do an about face, especially when he knew it to be false.
Where there is opportunity our hard work has a purpose. Our dreams have a chance -- to become real and create more opportunity. This is how America works when we stand and strive together to reach our dreams -- not against each other or against the world.
Few find opportunity in a culture of fear or greed, where a life's labor is swallowed up and our dreams whither.
Let's stand and work together again to live our many American dreams.
Dear Blog Buddies,
Joe Lieberman is a registered democrat.
Joe Lieberman is an American.
Reach out to him and let him know he is always welcome back into the fold. Promote where you stand together. Promote an individuals liberty to choose. Promote courage. Promote ways to reach across the aisle. Promote unity and connection. Promote peace.
Stay cool, don't get angry and all riled up, it does not serve your purpose!
Please, do not be swayed by the turbulent storms of politics. Be sure of what you stand for and then shout it from the rooftops. Please, do not turn to vitriolic personal attacks.
Don't take Joe Lieberman's choices personally.
Barack is asking us all to believe in change. We must be the change.
Please consider your responses and speak of what you stand for not what you stand against.
"We will never know how much just a simple smile will do."
MOTHER TERESA
Stay cool!

“Well, I don't believe that climate change is just an issue that's convenient to bring up during a campaign. I believe it's one of the greatest moral challenges of our generation. That's why I've fought successfully in the Senate to increase our investment in renewable fuels. That's why I reached across the aisle to come up with a plan to raise our fuel standards… And I didn't just give a speech about it in front of some environmental audience in California. I went to Detroit, I stood in front of a group of automakers, and I told them that when I am president, there will be no more excuses — we will help them retool their factories, but they will have to make cars that use less oil.”
As a student at Columbia University, Obama worked for three months as an environmental activist to promote recycling in Harlem. As a community organizer, before holding public office, he fought against environmental racism by helping public housing residents demand to have their apartments tested for asbestos and repaired.
He noted, "Environmentalism is not an upper-income issue, it's not a black issue, it's not a South or a North or an East or a West issue. It's an issue that all of us have a stake in."
Man I'm happy. I can feel a good thing happening. The candidate that I'm backing has a greater and greater chance of winning each day and I'm on board now like I've been since his announcement. I feel like the fan of the sports team that's staging a thrilling comeback and possibly heading to the playoffs.
But I feel like something needs to be stated for the record here. I just heard Shelby Steele on Charlie Rose and I absolutely have to step in here and articulate that my excitement over Obama has everything to do with his message and not his color. Honestly! In fact, the best part about his color is that people are not going to let it prevent them from voting for him.
While creating and designing the new front door to the white house ..visions are unfolding...what is the purpose of politics?
Politics appears to have one purpose, to support and create and design systems which empower individuals to be the individual uique genius we were born to be......the foundation of all systems need to be for the ultimate health of oneself.
Healthy systems support and nourish all aspects of a culture in perfect balance, flow and change.
In a true democracy there are no leaders outside the circle of everyone being the leader of one's own character and destiny in a unified support system of the circle. Wlith intersecting circles enriching and nourishing one another.
Unless the ultimate goal of democracy and politics is seen, created and designed within the process of the ultimate vision. It appears that democracy looks more like a limited dictatorship of the few powerful manipulators...
Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! To the visions within the heart of reality. Awaken your genius, your vision. The key to the white house is in your hands.
i have been haunted by this question since the day i saw a billboard with this message in the middle of nowhere Wyoming while on a drive across America.
i had hours and hours and hours to think and ponder the question. Alot of hours to meditate on the question. A lot of hours googling for an answer.
Thirty-three dead in West Virginia. Many many more Americans killed in Iraq this month. The Iowa River made it to the top ten list of most polluted rivers in the country. The obituary page went on and on today. None of us are leaving here alive.
i like this statement. i even like what his daughter Bernice has to say on the subject of being in the heart.
Heart Mapping ....maybe its time to give up the concept that the maze of the mind is of top priority in running the human bio-computer. i would think that having a simple computer beating a human in a game of chess over and over again might be a clue.
We were all born individual unique genius's. Surrounding oneself with the top six priorities of your love, protects one from the ignorance of hate and fear.
Beautiful pure perfect love to the left of us,
Beautiful pure perfect love to the right of us,
Beautiful pure perfect love before us,
Beautiful pure perfect love behind us,
Beautiful pure perfect love above us,
Beautiful pure perfect love below us,
Life is a perspective. We are all blessed with an individual unique perspective of the world.
