WE DID! What an awesome start we are off to! So much preparation, so many dress rehearsals, so many lessons and testimonials heard...now we move forward committed to presenting the change that we seek in the world. There will be no links in this post and no flowery rhetoric.
Simply, I post THANK YOU for supporting the launch of our 21st century movement to endow our faith and secure mankinds' elevated status as shepherds of God's gift to humanity.
God Bless the WORLD!
Not only does Barack represent the next generation of politicians, but the movement has always been on the cutting edge of doing what it takes to get more younger people involved--to show them that they truly have as much a role in this process as anyone else, if not more. For example, the forthcoming announcement of Barack's Vice Presidential pick through text message: participants can text "VP" on their cell phones to 62262 (OBAMA) to be the first to know who the VP pick is (Read about it here in the Columbus Dispatch).
But of younger voters, it's not just 18 to 29 year olds who have a stake in this election. This inspiring story from Maureen, an organizer in the Cincinnati area, lets us know just that.
We had a group of 5 boys in yesterday. They are probably 10 years old. They come in every once in a while and make posters and eat chips. Mostly it seems like they just want a place to hang out. Yesterday while I was working one of them came up to me and asked, “Can Barack Obama change the world or just the U.S.?”“Oh, he can definitely change the world,” I responded. I told him about how he could make sure we didn’t get into wars we shouldn’t be fighting, about how the U.S. could help kids in poorer nations all over the world get an education by funding schools. “So he can change the world,” he said. “Yup.” He then walked back to one of his friends and said, “See, I told you he could change the world.” Now that’s the type of fights I want to see 10 year old boys having.
Just got back from the "Fellows" meet and greet in Gainesville Florida.
As an Old DEM campaign worker, I GOTTA tell ya.
Hoo, boy, these political babies have GOT IT TOGETHER!
Sure, there was some confusion (surprise, surprise), but oh myyyyy, none of the new folk freakin' CARED. It was us oldies that were a bit, well, out of place.
Soooo. I say, old Dems... Get out of their freakin' WAY.
Support where we can, donate "$" when we are able, and let the next generation do the work.
We had our time... '68... '72... '92... '2004, 2006. We, us, the 60's generation, tilled the soil, added the compost, planted the seeds in our children.
Let 'em grow. Oh My, let 'em grow.
We are the water, the sun, the fertilizer.
I am convinved, our children are taking up our sword, our shield.
We taught them well....
Let them lead, they'll pick really nice retirement placements.
Ohhh Myyy.
Can I make ya a batch of chicken and dumplings? Ya want an extra biskit with that? Let's stuff OUR youth with wholesome, nurishing, loving... FOOD, IDEALS, SUPPORT (emotional, financial, huggin')
Let's all feed them. Set them free, and get the HELL out of their way.
Tommorow (theirs and ours) belongs to them.
Faith CarrRevolution is Required, and it's comin'
Even though my two eldest daughters are politically aware, they usually seek my advice when they vote. They would call me when they were completing their absentee ballots and we would discuss each race and candidate. But quite frankly, most of the time, I had to remind them to put a stamp on the ballot and mail it. I asked myself "What kind of activist am I if I have to work this hard to get my kids to follow through with their vote?"
My kids have attended protests with me but they didn’t necessarily like doing it. My younger ones would just die if one of their friends saw them protesting or planting signs for candidates. They "get it" but would prefer that their activism be limited to watching the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

When my 21 year old daughter studied abroad, I took possession of her laptop and changed her homepage to rawstory.com. When she came home and took her laptop back, she said "Mom, I like Rawstory but I kind of miss Brangelina." In 2004, when she was just 18 and voting for the first time, her voter registration was illegally changed to Republican by a company hired by the RNC. We filed a complaint with the state but my daughter never returned the investigator’s phone calls. She was too busy with homework and campus life.
Yesterday, everything changed.
